This review was for pre-COVID-19. We came for dinner on a Sunday (1/19/20) and the parking lot had a lot of spaces. There were not a lot of people here eating. The menu had English for everything which usually gave me the impression that a Vietnamese restaurant was not going to be good. If there's a pho place that didn't have the Vietnamese names in the menu then it may not be good, but that was just my assumption. We ordered #11 Rare flank steak & beef ball ($11.95) and #12 Steak noodle ($11.95). The food came out to our table fairly quickly since there was only one other group eating here before us. The broth of my Steak pho was okay and reminded me of some other restaurants in the Bay Area. The meat was okay as well and this was pretty much the pho tai at a lot of other pho places. Honest review from an outsider. Saw a bunch of 4-5 star reviews so had to try this with my wife. As a Vietnamese person, my parents would have a hard time ordering here. For some reason nothing on the menu is in Vietnamese. The spring rolls interior may be what is generally served but I have never seen them wrapped this poorly. The ends were not folded in so by the time you get to the end everything has fallen out The pho was good for the area I am assuming. The bo vien was good. Broth was interesting. You can really taste the cinnamon and coriander. We came from Westminster in SoCal and now live in San Jose. Was in Gilroy the other day with pops and it's been a while since I've tried a new Phò shop so I pulled out my phone and started surfing the ol interweb when I happened upon M Noodle and Cafe "on Yelp of course" after reading some of the reviews and looking at some great pictures we decided to hit this place up. First thing I noticed when we walked in is the place was packed (good sign) we were seated right away. Other things I observed were they had dollar bills taped around the walls "honestly I thought it looks very tacky" and the place doesn't looks as clean as it could be. Deducting 1 star. Food: I ordered The combination wonton rice with steak noodle soup comes with chicken, pork, shrimp, and beef balls. Now I noticed that it did not come with big beef flank yeah that's what I got in it? Don't get me wrong I love beef flank. Unfortunately the beef was WAY over cooked. Everything else was stellar, especially the broth "not kidding" I can't remember the last time I had broth this good. "Notes to self, next time ask for raw beef flank on the side" the size of the bowl was G-eye-norm-us!!! I think this is the first time in my life I was not able to finish what was in the bowl. " I did however slurp down every last bit of that delicious broth" Pops had 1/2 chicken with fried rice "again a huge plate" he managed to devour over 90% of it. He gave it 2 num num's up. First Beef Stew with vermicelli I've tried. The beef and tendons were thick yet so soft ompared to other pho places where you just get slivers of meat/tendon/tripe. The broth has a slight pinch of "spiciness", perfect for those who are not used to spicy food. My husband ordered the regular beef/tendon soup, and the meat were cooked perfectly. Coming from a Vietnamese person the Pho here was good, if you're hungry then this place would be perfect for a quick fix because they pack on the noodles in the pho. I got the rice plate with bbq chicken. The chicken was good and flavorful and wasn't dry. The service was very quick. We put in our order and less then 10 mins we already got our food. We stopped by this joint on the way down to the central coast, not knowing what to expect. I personally didn't expect much, it's vietnamese food in Gilroy, they had Chinese food in the menu, how good could it possibly be? We sat and I ordered the only thing you should ever order at a pho restaurant: xe lua dac biet. Service was a bit slow, but it's whatever, people are working hard. The size of the bowl was decent, not too small, but the broth might just be a top 5 pho broth I've ever had. I was thoroughly surprised, I did not expect this at all. If I had one gripe, it's that the meat was just a little chewy, like it hadn't been cooking in the broth long enough. This was the case for everyone in our party so I'm not quite sure what was going on there. In any case, the flavor was still exceptional. I stay at Gilroy Garden Inn every time I come to work and when I'm craving Vietnamese food, this is always my first choice. The bbq pork vermicelli combo with ship is delicious and comes with a good amount of food. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. The spring rolls are made authentically.
