Seeing my hesitation, I was told that if I did a perm haircut is free. If just color, there is a separate charge. Then the opinion kept changing on whether I needed straightening perm on top of that. I felt manipulated and uneasy. The color did not come out as I wanted - overall this experience was not great and I will never be coming back here again. Asks for prices BEFORE you start any services. Reading other reviews, changing prices seems like something this place typically does. I did not appreciate the dishonesty.

Her side: Checking out the reviews, I booked my last-minute appointment on a Friday afternoon since they were available. Gloria was my hairstylist for the appointment. I showed her my inspiration and asked her if she can achieve this look. I also told her that my hair is permanently black because I was turned away by a few local spots in the area. She said she can achieve the color without a problem. I sat there for a good 4 hours, but something didn't look right.  She started to bleach my roots after 4 hours in. Went for a wash, and that's when I noticed my hair did not look the way I wanted... Not only did my roots look orange, but my whole hair was not EVEN. Also, the lighting in the store is so dark you can't really tell until you get home. I did tell her we needed to fix this, but the store was about to close so she asked if I could come in next week. I wanted to get it fixed asap so I asked if I could come in next morning. I thought about it, but she didn't respect my time and I did not want to go back to this salon at all. I preferred to get a refund and go back to my go-to hair salon (in the city) to get it fixed. While I mentioned this never happened to me, she goes "this is my first problem too." Next few days, I texted her again and showed her how my hair is different from top to bottom...I asked her if it is okay if I can just get a refund and she refused to give me my refund. The part I was most annoyed with the most when she said she'll return half and wouldn't give me the other half because I used her products LOL. She said it's not "fair" when I asked for a refund. You are the store owner and need to satisfy your customers? I never experienced such poor customer service and management in my life. In the end, I still didn't get a refund or a full apology. Please do yourself a favor and take your $300 elsewhere. They do not know how to color your hair at all. Never going back ever again. **WHO LET'S THEIR CLIENT LEAVE LOOKING LIKE THAT. I bet your ass the people leaving 5 star reviews are all the workers. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER, I'VE WARNED EVERYONE TO STAY AWAY.

My girlfriend recommended me to come to J Hair and I figured, why not. I was in desperate need of a haircut and didn't care who cut my hair at this rate. I chose to do a simple angled bob since I didn't know the girl doing it, just to test the waters. I was the first appointment on a Sunday morning and I got my hair washed as soon as I walked in. I showed her some pictures of and she went right to work. She put this plastic shield over my eye to prevent hair from getting in which I thought was a nice touch. At first I was really hesitant but I saw her in her zone and she went and did quick work. I was in and out within about 45 minutes which was perfect for a simple wash, cut, and style. She was really nice and friendly. The place wasn't big and fancy but just had enough to make you feel comfortable and welcomed. I will definitely come back here the next time I need a cut. I usually get my haircut 1-2x a year and the price was good enough for me. The only complaint is that the parking is awful. The location is right on a corner and there's no parking lots. Street parking only, if you can find it. I'd probably recommend getting dropped off and picked up for convenience. Honestly I was scared and didnt know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised by the results. The owner was extremely caring and took really good care of my hair and was very gentle. He listened to how I wanted my hair to look and also gave me suggestions. He was very precise with the way he cut my hair and made sure it was perfectly even on both sides. Its honestly one of the best cuts ive had in my life. The only "downside" is he did not style my hair, he just blowdried it straight, which is fine...but usually other salons will give me a cut and also style my hair. I def see myself coming back here. I arrived for my appointment and was seen right away, no wait time. I did not get the name of the man who cut my hair but he did speak English. He was so attentive. He asked so many questions, constantly checking to make sure I was happy with what he was doing. I felt like I was in good hands. I asked for curtain bangs and a blunt trim with no layers. I don't think he was prepared for my hair texture because I'm Hispanic and have naturally curly hair. It only surprised him, did not deter him from doing a good job. He just confirmed if I was okay with him straightening my hair after blow drying which I said I was. My hair looks so good. I'm so happy with the result. I will absolutely be coming back. Instead she makes him look fresh and young by accenting his natural hair and shape. She's very good at keeping things looking natural. I had long hair and she was very good at shaping it the way I wanted including bangs. I recently decided to go back to a bob. If you're Asian and need someone who knows how to work with texture and fine thick hair (yes it sounds like an oxymoron) then this salon seems to know how to shape hair. It's no vidal sassoon but for the price you get good quick service. My only complaint might be some tiny hairs that I find in my clothes and neck or face. Most of the places don't understand what I want even after I've showed them a picture. Young is awesome at cutting, styling, everything hair-related. She's also a really nice person and I had a pleasant conversation with her during my cut. I'd come back here all day, e'eryday. Parking in the back is a great plus. It can be a little tight but better than trying to find paid parking on the street. Making an appointment by calling ahead is the way to go.
