I am thrilled that I found this place after a year of looking for a Black-owned nail salon in Harlem! Lisa personally called me to make the appointment and fit me in within the same week. Upon entry, I was greeted promptly and kindly and given a reasonable expectation of how long it would be before I would get serviced. The attention to each nail and the resulting masterpiece was worth every moment in the suite. The price was fairly commensurate with what I've paid in nearby shops but this design was WAY more intricate than what I normally get so it was definitely worth it! I'll certainly be back next month. The pedicure left a bit to be desired but my nails are top notch!!! read more

I went to this salon less than a week ago, the staff is very friendly, conversation is lovely and vibrant. I found that they really took proper care of my natural nails, so much so that I decided to get a gel overlay instead of my usual tips. I had even noticed Lisa doing a client next to me, and her nails looked great with a gel overlay, I was excited that mine, tho short, would look just as decent. By the end they came out well, simple, not the cleanest design but I was moderately satisfied. I paid 100 plus a tip for a soak off and gel overlay with no tips. Pricey but fine, you pay for quality and the service was great! It's been 5 days , my gel is chipping and bubbling, I had four studs each on two nails. Half of them have fallen off, the nails have little shine and look like a basic manicure I did at home. I've gone to salons in Washington Heights for a gel manicure with tips, paid half the price and my nails lasted almost a month! Mind you, those salons don't care for your natural nail, so I really wanted to find a clean salon that would do that. Black Owned is a definite plus. I've never gone back to a salon to have them fix my nails before, so hopefully they have a good customer policy here. I'll be going on my next day off. I will keep y'all updated. read more

This was a really cute black owned salon in Harlem. I walked in randomly midday during the week and thankfully they were able to take me. They seemed to rely mostly on appointments so I was just lucky they had space. They were pretty polite and accommodating so that was vet appreciated. They also offered wine as you got your service. The space itself was also clean and well maintained. She had an autographed poster from Beyonce that said "thanks for your help on this project" so I'm assuming her services are of great quality. As for me I only got a basic manicure by one of her employees. It wasn't anything spectacular to be honest, she just did what needed to be done. It was also pricier than most places for a manicure ($15). Not outlandish but I could have gotten the same service or better for cheaper. Overall it was decent quality and great service, but I probably won't become a regular mostly because of the price and the inconvenience of having to set an appointment (I'm more of a walk in person). read more

As much as I would have liked to have given this a 5, 4, or 3-star rating, I just simply couldn't. As mentioned in a previous review, the owner was a little brash & coarse, not in a rude way, but just by her way of communicating. She is VERY direct, and it could be off-putting to some. Now, on to the fun stuff! My biggest concern was the quality in addition to the service. Being that it was my first time being serviced here, I really didn't know what to expect. My nail stylist initially came over to me and lifted my hands out of the bowl to observe the "soak-off" progress...when she didn't say hello or greet me in any way, I then spoke to her and said hello. She responded and told me to come down to her station. Eventually, I had showed her a picture of the style that I wanted. She agreed and said no problem. As she began to execute the design, I noticed that it was taking an exorbitant amount of time to complete one piece of the artwork, and this was just the first nail that she had started. I then suggested that if she felt it was going to be too complicated, she could do an easier design. I suppose she took that to mean freestyle, because from there she basically did her interpretation of what I showed her, the problem was that it started to become too distant from what I wanted. After she had completed the majority of my nails, I decided that it was not going to be satisfactory for me, and I just simply could not pay for a service that I was not happy with. And because she took it upon herself to create her own vision for MY nails, I couldn't really stop her until I thought she was almost done, because she continued to 'do a design, then put me back under the UV light' so on and so forth. After I finally expressed my dissatisfaction, the technician sitting next to her, chimed in asking me "Couldn't you have said something earlier"? Not only was it none of her business, but I was appalled that she accused me of not speaking up sooner, when the technician started doing her own thing, while I patiently waited to see what direction she was going in. After she removed the style, I showed her a very simple abstract style. She said no problem, but even that was still off. In addition, she did a poor job at removing the old polish that she took off, as the color was still sloppily sitting around my cuticles. Lastly, she adjusted my price to reflect this sad experience, to which I still tipped her, to which she did not say thank you, but only 'Have a good day". It was after 8:30 pm. Sigh............ If you want the barbershop, neighborhood experience where everybody in the hood knows the salon, and drops in whenever....where the stylists are a little too focused on their favorite clients and less focused on building new clientele, because they have their "day-ones", clique-mentality, then by all means!! I don't. *UPDATE* It is approaching two weeks since I had my service here, and some of the gel has chipped and exposed my real, natural (long btw) nail causing it to split. I rarely get a manicures, and pedicures are basically my summertime treat, so I previously wasn't very choosy about where I went. But I was determined to go to a black-owned nail salon after that horrible video surfaced of that the black woman Brooklyn getting beat with a broom stick by an Asian nail tech. I came across the Nail Suite by Lisa Logan on a list of Black-owned nail salons in NYC, and finally booked an appointment for last Friday. I called because the calendar on their website makes it seem like they are totally booked on all days except Tuesday or Wednesday, I think. So if it looks like they are booked, just call to confirm. Anyway, the salon didn't smell like chemicals, which was the first plus! Melissa, my nail technician, was ready for me when I arrived, second plus! She was attentive throughout the entire process, particularly my feet. I run, swim and bike and I don't always treat my feet with care. But my feet felt soooo refreshed afterwards. I will definitely be back, perhaps regularly. The atmosphere of the salon is very pleasant... with good music (hip hop, r&b) and conversation. read more

If I could give zero stars honestly I would. I've never had a worse nail experience, they changed the time of my appointment twice. Once I finally got to the appointment, the place was sub par in appearance, not the cleanest looking. I got a gel manicure and regular pedicure. I arrived at 2:30 and left at 7pm. The color selection is minimal and the nail polish is clearly old or water downed, my pedicure chipped significantly after three days. The gel manicure literally peeled of like it was a sticker 4 days later. The manicurist was distracted watching a tv show, did not shape my toes the way I asked and then proceeded to argue with me about the type of gel. She wasn't skilled at shaping and subsequently just told me it was because of my nails. I asked for a nude color for a French, she put pink and told me it was all they had. I asked for black on my French she took 20 minutes just trying to draw the first line properly, it still came out terribly. She was rough with my hands, the next day two of my fingers were red, painful and swollen. The whole ordeal cost me $109 for a crooked French and chipping pedicure. Maybe the owner who this is named for us good at nails but her staff is not up to par AT ALL. Would never set foot in here again. read more

This was my second attempt to be services by this salon. The first attempt was sometime in the fall (before/around october), I was 10 minutes late to the appointment because of the train and they cancelled it. I was upset but eventually I thought to give them another try. That brings us to today. My appointment was for 5:00 p.m. I arrived at 4:55 (I looked at my phone right before i walked in). I explained that I was there for my appointment and they said have a seat and one of us will be with you. At 5:20, they had not been with me. When I asked how much longer I was told 20 more minutes. That is a 5:40 time for a 5:00 appointment. That isn't acceptable. It is unacceptable because they cancelled my previous appointment for me being 10 minutes late. So surely, I thought these were the masters of running on time and high efficiency. I was wrong. What makes this more sour was that at no point during the day did they notify me of how behind they were running, but they are quick to text you when you're late. Also when I arrived at 4:55 not a single person had the decency to say, we are delayed. Nope. It was just have a seat and someone will be right with you. Right with you is not 40 minutes later. Communication is key. One star and no more tries for me. read more

I cant say enough about Lisa and Sheshe. This salon is like home away from home. My mom came to town to help me out with my brand new baby. I sent her to the salon on her own to relax a bit and she was treated like she was their mom. She is hard to please, but let me tell you she only had the best things say. I appreciate a well run business especially a black owned one. They are professional kind and so funny. I've easily spent most of my Saturday there bc I wasnt in a rush to leave! I had an appointment today- 08/27 at 3:00 pm and they immediately startled working on my nails upon my arrival; no long wait and they honor their appointment times. Service- the nail service i received from Mini was impeccable, fast and super cute i love my nails! Mini was able to shape my nails in a nice round point shape without the use of acrylic or nail extensions. Vibe - dope nice conversation good energy the owner is super fun and cute and Telly is a sweetheart! So happy to have found this place i wish i could go regularly but this Will definitely be my special occasion spot. read more

Let me preface this by saying this review is long overdue, and reflects my last experience in this establishment, as a former loyal customer. Upon leaving the Nail Suite, I walked away feeling berated and devalued. When I initially spoke to the owner (Lisa Logan) about accommodating my request to retroactively apply my visits to the loyalty card, she immediately started the conversation with, "I'm not trying to chastise you, but it is your responsibility to keep your card." Ironically, starting off a conversation in that tone, would usually result in the customer feeling "chastised." She continued emphasizing that it was "my responsibility" to present my card, as her team will not ask me for it. As someone who prides herself in "providing high quality service (quoted from the company website)," which usually entails spending 45-90 minutes with each client, was she suggesting that it was unreasonable to spend 5 seconds to remind this same client about their loyalty card? Putting the onus on the customer, for a loyalty program created by HER establishment, is unfair. When I purchase goods from a Rite Aid, local food market, or any other store with a reward/loyalty program, the first question I'm asked at checkout is, "do you have your rewards card?" Please note, this does not include me spending 60 minutes with these cashiers engaged in conversation while being serviced. It's an act of courtesy and honesty on behalf of the merchant. It literally takes no time to remind a client about his/her loyalty card. Immediately following our conversation, I was still under the impression that my manicure would be free of charge. Her tone was extremely condescending. I've never disrespected any Naile Suite staff member. In fact, I've gone out of my way to be courteous and respectful; I'm usually on time for my appointments, call ahead of time if I'm running late or need to reschedule, and have been understanding whenever I've had to wait past my scheduled time. Nonetheless, despite the owner's tone over the phone, I kept my appointment with the tech, who provided great service. However, at check-out, my experience shifted, when I interacted with Ms. Logan (again). The loyalty card clearly stated FREE on the seventh visit. However, the owner insisted that it meant I would only receive $12 off. So, not only was I chastised about the loyalty card being "my responsibility," but now I'm left to decipher the new meaning of "free." I've always understood the term "free" to mean "free," not $12 off. This was extremely confusing, and misleading to say the least. Hopefully the staff reads this with an open mind rather than a critical lens. I no longer frequent the Naile Suite, but felt my review was still valuable. beautiful place. beautiful people but half of the staff didn't know what they were doing. i have been getting my nails done for over 15 years and i think it's unbelievable that i waited almost two hours for a hard gel soak off... the beautiful young woman had me soaking my fingertips in acetone for hours and would manually file the gel off... i told the owner, who is lovely, that i had to get going and that i have to go to work (an hour beforehand) and was still sitting in a chair, painfully looking at my nails an hour and a half later.... i settled for a regular gel manicure that you would of thought was inspired by the adirondack mountains (they have lumps and dips) because the woman didn't even get all the gel off! and still paid almost $50 i wore my nails in embarrassment until i went to my usual place. if you can get in with the owner or the woman who sits two seats down, go for it! but don't let anyone else there touch your nails. read more

I really wanted to love this place but after my second visit I will not be returning. Unlike other customers I had no problem with customer service but the quality of service. My first visit I got gel polish and the same day my nails started chipping, my nail bed was not fully covered with the polish, and the technician did not bother to file my nails after applying the polish leaving them sharp and polish spilled over to my finger. The second visit I decided to do their specialty service, gel overlay. My nails are not shaped the same, at all! I have gel bubbles on several nails which is resulting in the gel starting to lift. I have to give my honest opinion because this will be the only way new black owned business owners will be able to really learn and grow. I believe people can give an honest review without bashing. However, this was my first-time experience, I called and an appointment was available for me which was awesome for a hot sunny Saturday in New York City. When arrived the owner did a great job with greeting and following the protocols due to COVID-19. This made me feel safe and cared for. I was looking to review the gel nail colors on the nail plates or inside the book while I wait but they did not have any. This was quite difficult for me because I could not really tell what the outcome was going to be from the nail polish in the bottle. This should be a visual experience. Although I arrived on time, my wait time was a little longer than expected. I figured it was because she was short on staff. I really didn't like the full experience of getting my pedicure, although the person took their time and the polish came out okay, I did not get a deep cleaning that I needed and the process from start to finish was not equal to or better than their competitors. My gel manicure came out good, I know the person is still learning and I believe with more practice she will be even better. Overall, the vibe was cool, everyone was professional but I do believe this salon needs a lot of help and I believe they can get better overtime once these minor things improve. read more

I was at the Nail Suite this afternoon for a scheduled treatment and observed another customer treating the owner disrespectfully. I rarely write Yelp reviews, but i'm writing this one because I am impressed with the owner's response to the customer and I think it's important to share. Please see below: Over a period of 10 minutes, a customer asked the owner several questions about the nail treatment she was receiving, to which the owner pleasantly responded and assured the customer that her (the customer) treatment concerns were being met. Shortly after (about six minutes), the customer exclaimed (I say exclaimed because all 10 people in the location could hear) that she was in a hurry, needed to speed up her treatment and didn't want to be in the shop for four hours. The owner responded respectfully that prior to the start of the treatment the customer was informed of the length of the process and that the customer's treatment was actually on track, but that she would accommodate the customer's sudden request, even though this would impact the treatment schedule of other customers present at the salon. The owner also stated that no customer has ever been in the salon for four hours. The customer responded again that she was in a hurry, but she didn't thank the owner for accommodating her. As the owner was finishing the treatment, this customer proceeded to request treatments that would actually extend her stay, instead of hasten it. The owner responded that she wanted to respect the customer's initial demand and would work to complete the scheduled treatment so that the customer could leave by the customer's deadline. The owner was successful in completing the work ahead of schedule. Then the customer paid, the owner thanked her for her service, and the customer left. I was impressed that the owner was successful in maintaining a positive, professional and calm disposition during an unexpected tense situation. Some other customers, in addition to myself, appeared disturbed that the salon's calm atmosphere was being disrupted, but the owner's ability to diffuse the situation immediately definitely relaxed myself and the other customers. I definitely recommend going to the Nail Suite to receive high quality service from a true professional nail stylist! read more
