Jim is a sweet guy and a marvelous masseur. He gave me a fifty-minute massage yesterday, I floated out of the spa, and my body still feels great today. I can turn my chronically stiff neck without discomfort, and I was especially flexible when I stretched this morning. I get a massage every three weeks and always have lots of knots to soften. Unlike other excellent masseurs, Jim somehow worked out the kinks without applying overwhelming force or leaving me sore. It was a pleasurable massage and it did the trick. read more

The shop is not really a spa. When i had an waxing that required me to partially disrobe, i had to so so in a cramped space in front of the technician. Humiliating. No robe offered. No locker offered. The shop has a locker room. The receptionist owner was curt and dismissive. I felt unwecome. I felt rushed and he appeared to want to get me out as fast aspossible. I booked a couples massage for the 3rd week of October, in celebration of my partner's birthday. M Spa staff was great in informing me that it would have to be 2 separate rooms, but at the same time. They also informed me that due to the size of the facility and for the best experience of all patrons, members can arrive no more than 30 minutes before to use the facilities. They also informed me that parking could be difficult, due to it being the Castro, so plan ahead. As somebody who thinks himself as a master planner, I felt like I had the perfect birthday planned. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that this same spa date at M Spa aligned with the Pumpkin event in Half Moon Bay. After our 2 hour brunch appointment at Navio, we were stuck in traffic blitz where Google Maps, Apple Maps, and the Tesla navigation kept pushing the ETA to the right. Two hours before the appointment, I called M Spa and asked if there were any later appointments for that Saturday. Unfortunately, they were already fully booked (lesson - book far in advance to secure your spot). I called again an hour before the appointment and informed them that we cannot make it. I asked if I can reschedule and they indicated that since it was my first time, they would gladly honor the rescheduling without charging me any fees (which was extremely gracious). That amount of customer service earned them the 5 stars. When we finally went, the week after, I made sure we were in the Castro area an hour before. We wondered around until it was the 30 minutes before the appointment to use their facilities. They had a very clean and tidy locker room area for members to put their personal belongings and to change into their robes. There was also a 2 stall shower and a steam room where 3 people can fit. The lounge area was also calming and came equipped with tea and snacks. The staff went above and beyond, and after our amazing 90 minute massages, which left us floating and wanting to come back, they made settling the bill simple and even gave us 15% off our next service. I love you M Spa. You truly set the bar. read more

I recently visited M Spa for the first time, and it was such a great experience. I don't book massages nearly as often as I should (self-care, right?), but this reminded me just how worth it is. I booked a massage with Miguel, and he was excellent. From the moment the session started, I could tell he was really in tune with his work--he genuinely cared about how I was feeling and which areas needed attention. I also really appreciate a firm, strong massage--and Miguel delivered. He has incredibly strong hands and knew exactly how to work through tension without it ever feeling like he was just going through the motions or mechanical. All in all, highly recommend M Spa--and especially Miguel. You (and your tired muscles) will thank you! Just a heads-up: Miguel only works on Thursdays and Fridays, so if you want to book with him (and you should!), plan accordingly. The only thing to note is that the changing area feels a little like a bathhouse setup. Don't expect a private shower, and there's a shared steam area--so if you're more modest or shy, that part might be a bit outside your comfort zone. I've been going here for a few months now. The facility may be small, but it's nice, clean, quiet, and the staff is very friendly. It's a good place to relax. I usually get massages from TK who I think is one of the best massage therapists I've ever had. He knows how to address trouble spots such as my lower back and shoulders. I just had a massage 2 days ago and I had TK. I came in with right neck stiffness and it was gone right away after the session. He is very skilled and experienced with his work. Definitely will request him again next time I come back. The reception crew Andrew, Randy and Adrian are all very accommodating and very friendly. Great service overall. I've been there 3 times. All 80 minute massages. I've had May, Vit and Jim. All three massages were all unique in its own way. My goal is to try all masseuse but so far in ranking, May and vit are a close tie. Jim is unfortunately 3rd in my mind. Overall, if you're looking for pressure, I like May. If you're looking for a softer massage Vit. If you're looking for more stretching, Jim is great. read more

I've been to M Spa 3 times now. It should be noted that my rating is based on the average if the first 2 visits. I thought the 1st one was ok. Not great, not terrible. I got most of the pressure I wanted, but despite my direction, the masseuse couldn't quite hit the spot. The 2nd time was quite a bit bit better. So like with anything unloving another person and touch, it's an individual experience. The third involved unwanted touch. As such, I won't be back to M Spa. read more

He is kind, friendly, and most importantly, intuitive with his touch. I came to him after a rough skiing trip and he was able to provide almost instant relief. It was so easy to book an appointment, I feel like they did everything possible to schedule me and my bf at a convenient time. The environment was very clean and well designed. Very tranquil. I loved the showers and steam room and it was a nice touch to offer everyone robes and lockers. The massage itself was very good, and extremely professional. I would recommend this place for any guy who needs therapeutic massage. Bill was my therapist and he did a combination of table thai and deep tissue. They were able to get me an appointment for about 40 minutes after I stopped in and this place is relaxing and elegant. The changing and shower rooms are clean and the robes are hella comfy! My guess is that the ownership at M Spa has changed yet again, initially it was Nickel, and then M Spa, and now its still M Spa but something is is obviously different. We have been coming here at least once a year without fail, and I know that is not a lot when you compare it to their more "regular" customers. We have always had wonderful experiences here, from the customer service, to the actual massage. But not this time... 8 minutes past my massage appointment, I was offered a different massage therapist, I agreed, as if I cared right? As long as it was a good massage (more on that later). 8 minutes is not a lot, but when you're at a spa, punctuality goes a LONG way. So we enter the room, and I glance at the wall clock, the time is 3:13, I was there for a 60 minute (which was initially 90, until I told them to change it due to time constraints). When I got up, the clock had mysteriously disappeared, WOW! Anyways, I had my phone in my robe, time was 4:06. I understand that a 60 minute massage may not always be a full hour, but did you really have to remove the clock? The massage, a Swedish, was similar to a very expensive oil rub. My bad for not speaking up about pressure, I wasn't exactly in the mood. I didn't leave feeling any different than when I walked in, which was the huge difference between this visit and previous visits. Suffice it to say, I will most definitely not be returning, despite their 15% off my bill for the tardiness. read more

First things first. Ronnie is amazing. I have this place four stars before, but now that I randomly matched up with Ronnie's schedule once, I finally had the desk put his name in my "notes" page: definitely the best therapist I've had here. I really like a lot of things about this place. The location is very convenient (I live a few blocks away), the aesthetic is nice. The front desk staff are friendly but the vibe of the place is a bit stiff, cold, professional. For example, in the waiting room you never see customers chatting, everyone stares at a magazine or an iPhone. I guess that's typical nowadays, I'm just used to the Gendarmerie Spa in West Hollywood, which is much more like a social club while you wait. Sometimes you get called back for your service and you wish you could hit snooze and stay in the waiting room... LOL. The spa area is nice, but small. Only two showers, only one small steamroom. The massage rooms are small but spotlessly clean and well decorated. read more

This male-focused spa is such a great institution in the Castro. I've had excellent services here from massages (Caleb is great!) to waxing. Every time things have been clean and friendly. The steam room is a great perk and I'll miss going regularly now that I live outside SF. I'll be back as often as possible. I was in Northern California for work for three months and I received three massages from here and all the therapist were quite good. The facilities are great and clean and I enjoyed the use of the steam room before and after my massages. The staff were friendly and the price was fair as well. A mixed experience for me: The spa itself was very nice: The people working there were friendly, and facilities (the waiting area, the locker room, and the treatment room) were well appointed. The massage I received was okay, and parts of the massage were strange: The massage therapist dug his fingers into my ears, which made me really uncomfortable. He also pulled on my hair pretty hard, which was not at all relaxing. I'd probably return but would definitely go with a different massage therapist. read more

I don't normally leave reviews however feel such a bad experience should be shared. Worst Massage I have ever had............ For the price and the look of the facility it appeared there would be some sort of quality. All I got was some pokes and severe lack of any technique or style. We spoke about areas to focus on and pressure however this was ignored. Usually massages go too quick however wanted this to end a few minutes in. I was hopeful that my partner had a good experience as it was my gift to him - unfortunately this was not the case and also got a horrible massage. We have both had a lot of massages some great, some good, some average but have never left feeling this bad. If it was a cheap massage I would probably not be as upset as you know there is always a risk. Totally shocked as I did not expect such a lack of professionalism. Paid for 50 minutes however one of us only got 30 minutes......... Booked for two people at 515pm. We arrived at 5 with plenty of time to check in and fill out paperwork. I knew we would be in separate rooms as when I booked it was explained the rooms were too small for two. Unfortunately when my massage was done my partner was already waiting in the lobby showered and fully dressed and had been waiting 20minutes. It was a surprise gift so he just assumed it was a 30 minute massage and didn't say anything. Receptionist had no interest in our experience.......... told us one person was booked at 5pm and not 515. Why the hell would I book for a couple at separate times? When we turned up at 5 there was no indication that one of us was late and should hurry. To make good he offered a discount card for next time then asked how much I wanted to tip. I graciously left the discount card behind. The only positive thing I can say is the venue is clean and looks nice. read more

I called to make an appointment. After repeating my last name 4 times, (my last name is 4 letters long) I was asked if this was my first appointment. I said "yes" at which point I was put on hold for 5 minutes. When the person who answered the phone finally returned to the call he asked my first name. I repeated my first name several times, (its Jim). Finally I spelled my first name. Then we went through the same insanity about my last name, AGAIN. After that craziness I was told because this was my first time I would have to give a credit card number. It would seem they have a lot of no shows. Shocking! I just returned from a massage at MSpa and wanted to share a couple comments. If I could rate the massage itself, I would give it 5 stars. This was one of the better massages I've had in a long time and Erick is a great therapist. He was thorough and quickly picked up on my tense spots and focused on those areas. Now for the not so great. In the times of technology, it would be good for a business, especially in San Francisco to have an updated website with accurate business hours along with accurate hours on their yelp page. Additionally, when under construction, it would be nice to alert patrons when they are making appointments and include a message on your website. Typically, when a spa is under construction, they will offer patrons a small discount as a courtesy. Additionally, when paying for a 60 or 90 minute massage, I expect a full 60 or 90 minute massage. My massage last approximately 45 minutes, while it was good, I would expect to get my money's worth. Finally, when you advertise a "brunch" on your website, it would be appropriate to actually have a brunch. If there are sunday's that you will not have this, again, let your patrons know. I was looking forward to a relaxing sunday with a mimosa or two following my massage. I hate to be a complainer, so these are just mere suggestions/comments. I went to this place once a few years ago when it first became M Spa. But was not that impressed. I mean it was good but wasn't great. Recently, though, the regular place I go to was raising their prices and the massages were lagging. I decided to give M Spa another try. Especially since they advertised their new specials of a $65 1 hour massage if you don't use the facilities. You can't beat that. And I always come just for the massage anyway since I am not big into the whole spa experience. My massage was so good the first time, I came back two weeks later for the second one. Since the massages are good and pretty affordable, I see myself being a regular customer here. On my second trip, I got my nails done for free as well as part of their holiday special. I have only gotten a pedicure one other time in my life but figured what the hell. The lady who did my pedicure was awesome. Friendly and did a nice job. The facility is really nice as well. Expansive and massage rooms are very comfortable. This is now my go to for massages. Awesome. read more
