Place is flirty. Booked 4 nights, stayed one! Refused a refund from the owner for the three unused nights. The carpet was disgusting, talked to housekeeping (also the owner), he said he doesn't have a chance to clean between guests. Had to call multiple numbers since the voice mailbox to the main number was full (never a good sign). Broken toilet seat. Bedding and blankets were beyond raggedy. White towels were more gray and beat up. The well water had a heavy odor and a slimy feeling. Loud music coming from both sides of the parking lot. You don't actually check in, you get a text stating you can enter your unlocked room and the keys are on the table. The door can only be locked using the key. Super secure (kidding). I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Tried to cancel 2 night reservation (low season/February) 8 days prior to arrival. M22 Inn policy is cancellations must be 10 days or more in advance...shame on me for overlooking this. If less than 10 days, you lose not just your deposit but the entire amount for the (cancelled) stay...shame on M22 Inn. We've vacationed in Glen Arbor area for years. Disappointing to see a small business in a small market have a policy like this, guaranteed to drive customers who encounter it away, including me. If this place was clean and re-modeled it would be a passable $59/night motel. Instead, it's filthy, worn out, ragged, dirty and is $237/night. There is no service of any kind because no one actually works there, they just collect your money over the phone. Everything about this place says 'shabby'. My husband and I visited Glen Arbor over Labor Day weekend for our 1st anniversary and we stayed at the M22 Inn. It was so cute, clean & quaint. Check in and check out was very simple. They have a common area in the front with tables, and in the back there's a fire pit and chairs. It was right downtown and just a block from the beach. I highly recommend staying here. read more

We opened the door to find badly stained carpets and ants crawling on the furniture. I immediately texted the owners (who could only be reached by text) and told them. The asked if I wanted some bug spray. I told them the room was dingy and unexceptionable. They the said I could get a refund and go somewhere else! This is impossible in a resort town in August. I looked and sure enough, nothing is available. So we are stuck in this buggy, dirty room! If we were not here for a wedding I would pack up and leave this town. No discount was given. read more

As we were visiting Sleeping Bear Dunes, we opted to stay here for the night, it was very close to the park, so it made things a lot easier for us. We stayed for 1 night only the last weekend while in Glen Arbor for a kayak trip. It's a pricey for what it is ( a no frills motel ), $189 after all the taxes and such, but this area in season demands a premium, the place was clean, bed was passable, could be better, coffee is outside of the office in the AM. You can certainly do worse but just do not expect too much beyond a clean room to sleep in. read more

Great location, and you pay dearly for it. This is maybe at $80 a night hotel anywhere else. We paid $179 a night on a Sunday and Monday night. Reserved several weeks in advance and requested a lower level room since stairs are tough after knee surgery. They did not accommodate that request. This hotel has some very pungent well water, so the bathroom area stinks, and the shower leaves you feeling slimy. We were happy that the hotel was easily within walking distance to all of the restaurants. But when we came back after dark, I was shocked to see that none of the lights were on at the hotel! There is a light outside every room and not a single one was turned on at 10pm! I am attaching a photo of that. One thing I liked about this place is that they have some gorgeous Michigan shaped chairs out in the front lawn. read more

We don't support our troops. With your your wallets empty and our pockets full you'll get an old fashioned room with creaky floors, creaky/hard beds, and paper thin walls so your neighbors can hear your every move. And you can forget about amenities like shampoo and conditioner. We're too cheap for that. You'll need to bring your own. However, we do offer fast free wifi, basic cable, and decent air conditioning. Oh and let's not forget about your free continental COFFEE in the morning. Please come back and visit us soon! I wish I could give this place 0 stars. Attempted to book a reservation twice online, server timed out twice. Never received a confirmation nor email, however the pending charge showed up twice on my account. I called three times prior to the reservation and never got an answer to my calls. Then the day of the reservation I received a call that they are leaving my key on the table next to the room. I stated that I tried contacting them but no one got back to me and we made reservations elsewhere because I wasn't sure if we were booked. The owner called back and threatened me, when I filed a dispute with the credit card company they then threatened that they would file a claim against me in small claims court. There was no misunderstanding here, I did my part to try to resolve the issue. In the end my credit card company got my money back. Hopefully I'll never hear from them again. Apparently their reviews on here speak volumes of the way they do business and the state of their properties. Please take my advice and take a hard pass, so many other great places to stay while in Glen Arbor, it's unfortunate they will still get business during season because the area is so beautiful. read more

WORST HOTEL EVER - DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE - One of the most disgusting hotels I've ever experienced in my life!!!! I booked a room at The Lakeshore in this past summer. The staff and especially the owner was inconsiderate, rude and unresponsive. We walked into the room and it smelled like SULFUR (rotten eggs) from the window a/c unit. They counter offer was offering me another room that was connected to their office with an access door to the room with no privacy what so ever. They said that they would credit my account and then they ended up charging my account for the room when I didn't even stay there. No Heat No Refund On October 5th my husband and I checked in to the M-22 Inn in Glen Arbor, MI. We had a wedding in northern Michigan and had stayed in Glen Arbor before. I was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and this was our first trip since diagnosis. It was also our 20 year wedding anniversary. We checked in around noon and noticed that our room was unusually cold. We looked at the thermostat which read 60 degrees even though it was set to 70 degrees. We went and got the woman who checked us in. She came in looked at the thermostat and told us to turn it all the way down and then back up. We did. She mentioned that they had issues earlier in the week but the HVAC repairman had been out. We were leaving for a day of leisure and she assured us that she would check our room prior to her shift ending and if the heat was not working we would be moved to a different room. We returned around 9:00pm to a room that was 63 degrees. There is nobody on site after 7:00pm so I called the on call number provided. A man who did not identify himself told me that they had an HVAC repairman out and it should be fine. I explained that our room was only 63 degrees and offered to send him a time stamped picture we took. He told me it was not his fault. I explained that I am currently going through treatment for breast cancer and I was not willing to stay in a room that was 63 degrees so we would be leaving. He informed me that he was not authorized to give us a refund. We found another place to stay but not in Glen Arbor as nothing was available in the small town. The next morning we were there at 10:00am when staff arrived. I gave the keys to the woman who checked us in the day prior and explained the situation. I asked her if she indeed checked our room to ensure the heat was working. She replied that the people next door to us had complained that their heat was not working so they called the HVAC repairman and their heat started working so she assumed ours did. I explained that we were now at a different establishment and I was not moving back as I had a wedding at 12:30 45 minutes away. I was told the general manager would call me. I received a call at 11:30am from the same man the night before. He told me the room was now 70 degrees. I explained that because of the night before we had to secure arrangements elsewhere and could not move our belongings back. He told me that was too bad and he was not going to give us a refund for a perfectly fine room (even though the night before he told us he was not authorized to give us a refund). I inquired about a refund for Friday night when our room was 63 degrees. His response was that he drove over and checked the room at 9:30pm and it was 65 degrees. I asked him if he thought it was acceptable that a guest going through chemotherapy or any guest for that matter should have to stay in a room that is 63-65 degrees when the outside temperature is in the low 40's or high 30's. His response "Well I am not giving you a refund". I also explained that we moved to another establishment as the heat had only moved 3 degrees in 9 hours. Extremely poor customer service. Obviously this establishment was not ready for cold weather and was having issues with their heat. I would never recommend this establishment, the bed a breakfast in Glen Arbor , or the Inn in Suttons Bay as they are all run by the same crew. I am disputing this with my credit card company as I think for $199.00/night I should be entitled to a room with an air temperature above 63-65. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. These are really CRAPPY people that run this MOTEL! Booked a room just a few days ago. Close to 200.00 was charged to my charge card. Had an emergency and had to cancel just days after we paid for the room. We called all weekend we were told they would call us back with a "DECISION" as to a refund. NO CALL at all, so finally we called them three times today we were finally told NO REFUND whatsoever, not even with a deduction of a processing fee which is stated on their website. So we asked if we could simply change the date as they state that is a possibility as well written on their website. NO they wouldn't do that either! We are paying for high season and would be willing to come in the middle of the week months from now but they wouldn't even do that for us. I have stayed here for business for a DECADE and this is the way they treat loyal customers. This is a terrible company, run by nasty people, and they shouldn't be in business. Had to go their personally and when i spoke to the manager, she would not budge and said would be charged anyway. We just pulled in because the sign said vacancy. It was late evening on a Monday so the office was closed. After calling the phone number we were quickly met and got a room. The room was clean and comfortable. It wasnt fancy and it wasnt a dumb. The shower had a good head. Pressure and temperature were good too. The location was perfect. We walked to dinner and to breakfast the next morning. There were too chairs out on the walkway that were perfect to sip coffee in the morning. Picturesque part of the country. Coffee was offered, but I found a coffee shop earlier. The room was a little dark, but that was really the only negative. read more

This is a quaint, very clean motel with a wonderful new owner. We were there during the big storm on August 2, 2015 and David, the owner, acted quickly and professionally to be sure that all guests were safe and cared for. He made sure that we had food and shelter and we were so grateful. David also owns the B&B across the street--the Sylvan Inn--where he helped as many people as he could. My wife and I recently stayed at the Lakeshore Inn for a long weekend in September 2011. Definately a no frills motel. That being said it is located in town which is very convenient. Management is generally nonexistent except to collect your payment. Prices at Lakeshore are obscene and based on the fact that there are no amenities it is unacceptable. $190 per day on a weekend? For a slight increase you are better suited staying at LeBear down the street which is 5 star with every amenity imaginable. The beds at Lakeshore are extremely uncomfortable and difficult to sleep on. Obviously the economics of outrageous rates is the primary focus of the owners. High rates are great, but you have to PROVIDE SOMETHING FOR THE COST. Location is not enough. read more

I cannot believe Yelp allows people to post downright lies about a business without checking to see if it is ligit...or if they were even a customer.
