Maiz is in the heart of Tijuana. It is not huge, it is adorable with cute things on the walls and wonderful seats. The place is clean and comfortable. We loved everything about it. The prices are really fair and you will get a great meal there. The service is so nice and welcoming. Don't worry if you don't speak Spanish, they will help you and sometimes they have English and Spanish speak servers. They know the menu well and will get your order pretty fast and always right. If you want a mild sauce, they will do that. If you want something painfully hot, they can do that as well. The salsas are just great and they have a super selection. I hear their coffee is great, but I am a coward and don't drink anything made with tap water. But that is just me. All of their food is great and you will be happy with whatever you order. We love their Chilaquiles with Cecina and eggs.

    Best Mole ever!!!

The absolutely best Mole I ever had! Everything here is made from scratch. With pure & raw ingredients. It's a beautiful hole in the wall with grandmas in the open kitchen preparing traditional masterpieces. I originally came for their cochinito pibil but they had sold out. Their guacamole was amazing their Jamaica hibiscus tea was phenomenal

Came here on a quick trip to Tijuana and was in need of an authentic shop with delicious food. The server and workers were very friendly and accommodating as well so I appreciate that. Quesadilla 5/5 - I'll have to say that this was a very delicious dish. I could tell the tortilla was handmade and that they used high quality ingredients especially in the cheese as well. It came with options to add red salsa topping which was spicy and a green one which was less spicy. It also came with pickled onions as well to add it on top since it's only the tortilla, cheese, and meat. The sizing is pretty big and I got full off of one, so also keep that in mind. This place also had a variety of what it seems like local cuisine. I saw other people who ordered soups like Pazole and it looked really good so I'll have to come back and try that out next time. Would definitely recommend!

Food was amazing, flavorful, salsas were on point, coffee de olla to top it off. Recommend this location 100% when visiting Tijuana Mexico. Ordered: Chilaquiles with Cecina and Huevos and Coffee De Olla

Location is small but do not let that stop you from going in. The employees are so friendly and welcoming. Food tastes homemade. Menu has a good selection. I did learn that not everything on the menu is available all day so just make sure you ask before wanting to order the gorditas. Pancakes had such an amazing flavor to them. Steak was well cooked. Chilaquiles sauce had good flavor and wasn't spicy. Plates are definitely a good size. Would definitely recommend!

Bro just say less and come here for some great breakfast. Everything is good. The owner is modeling for this own food on the Menu. Super nice staff and great hole in the wall food spot.

Cada vez que cruzo la frontera, me aseguro de desayunar aquí. La comida y el servicio me hacen sentir como si estuviera cenando en casa de un familiar. Recomiendo este lugar a los amigos que visite Tijuana. Every time I cross the border, I make sure to have breakfast here. The food and service make me feel like I'm dining at a family member's home. I recommend this place to friends visiting Tijuana.

First of all, awesome service. The owners are very friendly and attentive, they made us feel welcomed. The vibe of this place reminds us like eating at home or at our friend's house, very comfortable. The food was very very delicious. 10000/10. Everything was of great quality. The red sauce is spicy and delicious. We ordered: - quesadilla de huiclacoche - campeones (pancake, bacon, ham, egg, chilaquiles) - cazuela - desayuno de la jefa Definitely recommend everything. By the way, the hot chocolate is Oaxacan very good.

We had a 15 minute wait before we were sat at our table. As soon as we sat down, we had coffee cups ready and regular coffee or Cafe de olla ready to be served. Our Server was amazing. He made sure we were comfortable, and asked if we had any questions on the menu. We ordered the queso fundido to start, chilaquiles and tamales everything was great! The Zona Rio location has a small dining area, that is very popular with both the locals and visitors. It is easy to see why. Their menu does not over dose on the standard morning and afternoon items that you would find anyplace. However, this is the first restaurant I've been to in Tijuana, that does not have an English menu.... so I had to labor through the Spanish menu. But, they do have unique dishes, thus making the visit adventurous, because it is difficult to choose. I went back and forth, and finally settled for their 3-egg omelet with asparagus and sheep cheese. It came with refried beans, strings of carrots and beets, small fired up tostadas and fresh tortillas (both blue and yellow corn). A small side of soggy chilaquiles was also served. A small flavorful salsa tray is also provided with 3 options, ranging from mild to hot. The asparagus spears were thin, cut up into small pieces and sautéed with mild spices. The outer egg covering soft and not overdone. If anything, there was too much sheep cheese, in certain portions of the omelet. I say this because it was an asparagus omelet, and it, instead of the cheese, should have been the star. Still, it did not take away from the other commendable aspects of the complete entree and its accompaniments. Before the meal, a small refreshing fruit plate is served. Coffee and overall service here, was mucho excellente.

My favorite has been the Coyoltzin because the meat is tender and juicy. I also love that they bring salsas to the table. I like the chiles with oil and vinegar that they make.
