First off, they only accepted cash. In 2026, that's pretty frustrating. We had to leave, find an ATM, and come back just to order. We ordered a little bit of everything, hoping at least something would stand out. It didn't. The mac salad had no flavor, the meats were dry, and the fried rice wasn't even mixed with the meat--it was just plain rice with the meat piled on top. The teriyaki sauce wasn't good either. Even the people eating next to us were talking about how disappointed they were. The drink selection was weak, and to make matters worse, the soda machine wasn't working. The A/C was also broken, so it was extremely hot inside while we were eating. The restaurant itself felt cluttered and disorganized. There were random decorations stacked behind the register, exposed wires visible, and the overall place just didn't feel clean or put together. The staff also didn't come across as particularly welcoming. On top of all that, the prices were high for the quality of food we received. Overall, I'd give it a 1/10. We went because of the TikTok. I definitely won't be coming back.

The staff were super friendly and attentive from the moment we walked in, willing to answer questions and making us feel comfortable throughout our meal. The dining area is small like others have mentioned but we were able to grab a table. I certainly wouldnt lower my review because of it. The food took about 15 minutes to arrive, everything is cooked fresh to order- which I love. We ordered the hapa mixed plate and it was plenty of food for both my husband and I to share. Everything was really good, the salad dressing was delicious. If you want some amazing hawaiian food, with friendly service then give Howzit a try, I doubt you will be disappointed.

The beach bbq chicken was also okay but it definitely could improve. The macaroni salad and green salad were okay but need better packaging for takeout. Dining area is small and needs improvement... since I was planning to dine in but changed my mind as I entered. Ventilation needs improvement. The kitchen hoods were not adequately venting out the smoke which flowed into the dining area. Price-to-portion for each item was way off compared to what I get at the other Hawaiian restaurants... maybe their operating costs might be high... hope things improve. 2 stars for my first experience. I'll try again in a few months.

Looking back, we probably should have expected that the "fusion" aspect just wasn't going to be for us. I ordered the Gogi Combo Bowl with both BBQ beef and chicken. Instead of tasting like Korean BBQ, it tasted much more like teriyaki. Unfortunately, both the beef and chicken were very overcooked, making the texture dry and unpleasant. The cucumber kimchi was also disappointing. It had so much cilantro that it completely overpowered the dish. It didn't taste like kimchi at all. My husband couldn't even finish his meal, and we ended up throwing away all of our leftovers, which is something we rarely do. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars instead of lower is because the restaurant itself was fairly clean and the staff was pleasant. Unfortunately, the food just wasn't for us, and I wouldn't return or recommend it based on our experience.

Maybe even a little confusing, but I think it's all part of its charm. 100% take the recommendations from the server they know their way around that. It was a nice eclectic way of perusing through a menu that seemed like it was gonna be a disaster, but then ended up cohesively melting in your mouth, the entire journey. Such a good night, me and my friends are still raving about it!

It was a pretty small portion, especially for sharing, and nothing really stood out to justify the price. Next was the Brisket Egg Roll - 7/10. These were packed with flavor, but again, the portion left us wanting more. For our entrées, the Crispy Karaage Chicken - 8/10 was delicious. The chicken was juicy, well-seasoned, and came in generous bite-sized pieces that were full of flavor. The TC Double Cheeseburger - 9/10 completely stole the show. It was incredibly juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. Paired with the crispy fries, this was easily the best thing we ordered and one I'd come back for without hesitation. The Spicy Pork Belly - 6/10 looked beautiful coming out of the kitchen and was well-garnished, but it needed more sauce to really bring everything together. On its own, the flavor was a little underwhelming. Our cocktails were recommended by our server. They were enjoyable and well-balanced without being overly sweet, but nothing that really wowed us. 6/10. The ambiance was definitely one of the highlights. Sitting on the balcony overlooking the River Walk created a cozy, intimate setting that's great for a date night. Service started off a little slow, but our server acknowledged the delay and made it right by treating us to complimentary sake, which we really appreciated. Overall, Tokyo Cowboy offers a unique dining experience with a great atmosphere. While a few dishes missed the mark, the TC Double Cheeseburger alone is worth coming back for.
