Oooof, If you've ever had Texas BBQ, or well probably any other BBQ across America, I'd skip this one. I'm not sure how this place has decent reviews. The BBQ is terrible. If you actually want the best BBQ fly to Dallas and go to Terry Black's or Pecan Lodge. I wanted to try a hodgepodge of a bunch of different meats and items, and sadly all of them were flat out bad. Up first, a $13 Kentucky Old Fashioned. Oof, well it wasn't an Old Fashioned as much as it was a shot of bourbon. Better luck next time. I had never had Pierogi in my life so I wanted to try it. I got the one here for $12.50. Wooof. I won't be ordering that again. I got a side of $7.50 potato salad. At least it was eatable. For the main course, I had the $58 giant beef rib. Holy SMOKES! This place is good. So good we had dinner twice in our 4-day stay. The service and the food was "off the charts" good. We ordered the "This is Cleveland" platter that had a little of everything. It was perfect to share with my wife and delicious. Our son absolutely destroyed a burger both times. Stopped by around 7PM on a weekday and was able to immediately get a seat at the bar. The tables seemed pretty busy, both inside and outside the restaurant. I opted for the Polish Girl and the pierogies. The food came out in less than 20 minutes, and both tasted great! The pierogies were stuffed with lots of tender brisket, and I really enjoyed the sour cream on top. The kielbasa inside of the Polish Girl was excellent, and I also loved the pulled pork seasoning that topped the hot dog as well. The Polish Girl in particular was huge! My friend that I went with is from Austin, Texas and knows her barbecue and said while not as good as Austin's barbecue, it definitely stands out for Cleveland! I would have to agree. This is our second time here and it was just as good this time as the first time. We were seated fairly quickly for a Friday evening and our server was very prompt. The interior is somewhat of a modern twist without losing that historic feel. The food was the star of the show for sure. My wife loves brisket and has had it both times we have been here as she thinks it is wonderful here as well as the fried potatoes. I had the Cleveland Style which is a spicy cooked cabbage base with smoked sausage, ribs and pulled pork mixed together and it was wonderful. I also had the baked beans which had some nice chucks of pork and they were very good as well. If you are in Cleveland and like BBQ, you should give this place a try. read more

This is BBQ Cleveland style! It is all about the meat - there are no vegetarian offerings, so make sure everyone in your party is aware of that before your arrival. But for the carnivores, the kielbasa, pork belly, brisket, etc. are ON POINT. And the maple sauce on the pork belly sandwich is amazing. The potato salad is one of the few I've ever had that uses dill to its advantage, the Cole slaw is perfection, and even the salad is made unique by the rye croutons. With its modern, chic decor, I honestly wasn't expecting the kind of smoky flavor that usually comes from a spot that looks a little more rough around the edges. It felt almost too dressed up to deliver true barbecue. But I was pleasantly surprised. The bar is impressive, offering a wide selection of drinks with attentive bartenders. I started with a Brown Hoist Cider Co. "Adjournment," a fruity cranberry cider that was crisp and pleasing to the palate. For the grub, I ordered the Polish Girl...pulled pork topped with kielbasa and slaw, finished with their sweet smoky sauce. It was a delicious combination and absolutely worth returning for. To accompany this, I added the loaded fried potatoes with brisket. The brisket was the real star of the plate...perfectly smoky and teeeennnder. (mmm...) After laying down a solid base, I wrapped up the visit with the Bottled in Bond bourbon flight, featuring Evan Williams Bottled in Bond, Henry McKenna 10-Year Bourbon, and Rittenhouse Bonded Rye Whiskey. Yum! Tasty BBQ. With a both a concert and a baseball game that night, the wait wasn't too bad. We had a family style tray between 4 of us- classic kielbasa, lean brisket, ribs, baked beans, coleslaw, and fried potatoes. I had the only salad on the menu- fresh and crisp and a good counterpart to the meat picnic. The croutons are very salty. Loved the shredded cheddar on it and that creamy herb dressing is sooooo good. I do think the meat portions could've been a little bigger. The kraut and pickles on each tray is a nice touch, and the rye bread is fantastic. Biggest criticism is some of the meats, ribs in particular, had a tinge of that lighter fluid taste. My husband and I were just wandering around after we had dinner and decided to stop in to Mabel's to check out their very large whiskey collection. We sat at the bar and browse the menu and decided to get a Manhattan and my husband decided to get a poor of whiskey on the rocks and I forgot what whiskey he chose but it was good . The bartender was very nice and very attentive so we appreciated that and we decided at the last minute to try the banana pudding and it was delicious. It actually went well with our whiskey so we were pleasantly surprised. The interior is gorgeous and the staff is very friendly but the food is not worth the price. I did the Polish Girl which was a spicy kielbasa with pulled pork and slaw in a hotdog bun - it was actually pretty good, needed more slaw. For the price of the sandwich they should come with a side.
