    Lobster roll

We took ours to go to Colony beach for sunset. It was our first meal in Kennebunk. Ordered a lobster roll, fish and chips, lobster mac and cheese and salad. All good but not amazing. My son said his mac and cheese was kind of watery. The lobster roll was good but could have used a little more flavor. It had a decent amount of meat but pricey.

Pretty average I'd say - not the best I've had. Really small inside but cute atmosphere and friendly staff

Delicious. Excellent service from Lorenzo, thank you for creating an amazing evening --

Mabel's has been around for quite a while and remains popular although our first visit last week left us disappointed. For starters, we made a reservation and our table wasn't;t ready. That happens; we understand. We were then seated in a narrow, uncomfortable booth inside (three of us). And then we had difficulty conversing with a lot of customer noise surrounding us. So maybe we weren't in the best mood. They didn't have the beer we ordered off the menu. Ok, that happens. When we asked for a substitute side we were told bluntly no substitutes are allowed. Nobody said "sorry." So our mood wasn't getting better. And the crab cake appetizer was bland. But -- the seafood dishes were good: the Newberg ($38) was rich and tasty and so were the Duke (scallops, shrimp, lobster, haddock - $40) and the Duchess (scallops, shrimp lobster - $38). We passed on dessert, filled but not exactly happy with our entire experience. Oh yeah, our server apparently forgot us when it came time to give us the bill. We waited and waited. Not nearly as good a visit as we hoped.

We arrived into town late and the team at Mabel's was able to warmly accommodate us. The place reminded us of an old fashioned diner. It was a small casual place with great service. We had the mussels, Clam Chowder, and a baked stuffed lobster. Everything was as delicious!

This was the first restaurant I visited upon arriving in Kennebunkport. I loved the small town charm of Mabel's. I enjoyed a lobster roll outside for lunch. While there is a decent amount of outdoor seating, you will find more space inside to eat. My lobster roll tasted fresh. I picked the mayo lobster roll option. I enjoyed the sides presented with the roll. The Cole slaw, pickles, and fries made my lobster roll lunch absolutely delicious. Friendly staff and quick service.

This is my favorite place! First of all, I had the best espresso martini that I've ever had! We started off with the crabcakes, which were extremely crispy with a great dipping sauce. I of course, had to have the lobster roll, which was one of the best ones in the area! My friend got the mussels which were in this broth that was highly addictive. We couldn't stop dunking the bread! Our waitress was fun and everything about this place was perfect! It's adorable inside very quaint and decorated nicely.

This was our first time in Kennebunkport and we were referred by a local to try Mabel's. We ordered the steamed clams, the clams were ok, just a little gritty. Then for our main we ordered the rigatoni panna with lobster, this was an excellent pasta dish! Our server was super friendly and the service was great!

Really great food with friendly service. I had the Duchess and was glad I did. It was an order of Lobster, Scallops & Shrimp served with white rice and steamed veggies. Brie took great care of us. Glad we stopped in.

Going for the lobster mac & cheese is a plus but you will pay for it. Perhaps it's well worth it. If you are on vacation. it was for us.

Both were exactly as we had hoped. The free valet parking was also a bonus. Regarding the actual food, for new it was a Greek Salad with grilled chicken and my dinner partner had the lobster roll. The salad was just a salad, the lettuce was not the freshest and the dressing was sparse, but the chicken was well grilled and juicy. My friend said the lobster roll was good as it did not have large chucks of celery, and the flavor of the lobster was good. She said she has had better and she had worse. Again, if though want pubs food with a drink and a great view, this is the spot. If you are seeking a great and flavorful meal, I would look elsewhere.

The fries which came on the side of the burgers and sandwiches were also excellent. The restaurant has a nice outdoor space but the weather was a little rainy the day we went so we didn't sit outside. We ordered the surf (scallops) and turf, lobster roll, and pasta for my 6 year old. The Scallops was cooked to perfection. You can choose between scallops, lobster, or shrimp as your surf protein. The lobster roll was great. They accommodated my 6 year old flavor profile and gave red sauce on the side. Aside from the food and space, Mark and Celine exemplify the epitome of hospitality and service recovery. There was a minor hiccup during our meal. And Mark, the manager, went above and beyond to amend the mistake. Thank you Mark and Celine for a great dinner after a long day exploring. My daughter couldn't stop talking about the cookies and chocolate ice cream.

This cozy space has table seating along the walls and seating up at the full service bar. There is dog related country decor and a digital jukebox. This new "Big Dog" pub in Deerfield is not to be confused with "Big Dog" eats in Milford and "Big Dawg's" eatery in Haverhill (Bradford) MA. The breakfast menu offers a selection of egg dishes, omelets, pancakes, French toast, waffles, breakfast sandwiches and sides. The lunch/dinner menu offers a selection of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, paninis, burgers, flatbreads, pizzas, chicken entrees, pasta, and seafood. They have switched from standard fries to hand cut fries. There are posted specials on the board. The bar offers limited draft beers, beer bottles/cans, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic drinks. The prices seem fair and they offer happy hour 3-5pm. I stopped by Big Dog Pub for dinner recently during the week. I was greeted and told I could sit at any open table I'd like. The seating at the bar was busy, so I sat at an open metal table next to the bar. The server brought over a menu to look over. I decided on the Fish & Chips special ($16 plus tax) and the Sweet Sausage Sautee ($15 plus tax). Both entrees came out together in 17 minutes. The portions were good on both. The fish & chips were very hot, crispy coating on the outside, tartar sauce on the side. The hand cut fries were firm and tasty. The shredded creamy cole slaw was sweet & tangy. The sautee dish had a mix of al dente cavatappi pasta tossed in a light cream tomato sauce with peppers, onions, small sausage bits and shaved parmesan cheese. I managed to finish both entrees and got the check with Toast QR code which was $33.64 with tax and before tip. The internet is very weak in this part of Deerfield, so had to pay the normal way. Overall, I enjoyed a great filling meal at Big Dog Pub. I will have to return here for breakfast!

Finally, now that the 'newness' wore off, 4 of us were able to grab a table with ease. There was live music & they post on their Facebook page regularly with updates on food & cocktail specials. The mozzarella sticks were a bit underwhelming, similar to frozen ones I've purchased at BJs. The potato skins tasted like they were made in-house. ABOVE & BEYOND MOMENT: Our server, Jackie, was friendly & patient with our requests. I had asked if they could make a spicy margarita. She asked the bartender & they were out of their jalapeno tequila so they asked if it was okay to muddle fresh jalapenos instead. I said I trusted the bartender to do what they thought best. When my margarita was delivered, the Jackie asked if I wouldn't mind tasting it to make sure it wasn't too spicy. I think the fact they custom made the drink & ensured it was to my liking was great. I see mixed reviews about the prices. I honestly found that appetizers averaging about $15 was on the high side. We'd like to go back for dinner, maybe when there isn't live music.
