I thought the ham was like you'd get at the stores but I enjoyed it. Service was nice and price was very reasonable. It's around the corner where I work, I would visit again. I can honestly say that I live the shrimp Poboy sandwich from that place. It's been the same quality for years.

The ferry is amazing and one of the only places I know in the area that has one. The kid's chicken tenders plate is huge and more than enough for one kid. This place gets really busy during lunchtime but the wait is never over 10 mins when ordering in advance. The roast beef is another favorite that is flavorful and gives you that good old Po Boy feeling. I also enjoy their shrimp Po boy and seafood platter. When you are here you have to try the oyster Po Boy, it's really good! read more

Ordered a regular fried shrimp po-boy, when doing so the ladies at the counter were very friendly and welcoming. It took maybe twenty minutes for my sandwich to come out, but it was during lunch (a busy hour for any well established place). The surrounding environment was family friendly, well kept and likely to warrant a return. The po-boy itself had perfectly seasoned fried shrimp, the bread was soft, and they were not sparse on the pickles. Highly recommend Mabile's. read more

Great little hole in the wall place with amazing food! I've had the fried shrimp po-boy and the hot roast beef po-boy, both of which were absolutely delicious. The fries are a perfect pairing for the po-boy but onion rings and chips are just as good. I've also had their shrimp platter which is also really good; it's perfectly crisp and seasoned. All in all I think you must try this place at least once if you are in the area! You won't regret it. read more

Definitely the best po-boy restaurant in LaPlace. I have been going here for years and it's been consistent each time I go. I love the fried fish and shrimp platter as well as the hot sausage po-boy. Everyday at noon this place is packed with old people and plant workers. The line meanders through the spartan dining room. It's hard to even call an order in because the phone lines are busy from 12 til 1. The reason for this is the authentic po boys and daily specials served in huge portions for cheap. You won't find anything fancy here, but you're not going to be missing any traditional flavors either. Fried shrimp, fried oysters, fried catfish? Check, check and check. Hamburger, hot sausage, ham? Yup. Roast beef with Gravy? Hells to the yes. This is probably my favorite roast beef sandwich in Louisiana. You can't eat it without getting dirty. At some point when you're licking the gravy off of your arm that's dripping down to your elbows, you'll ask your self just how willing you are to debase yourself for a roast beef sandwich. Should you suck some gravy off the table? That's all up to you. Good luck not looking like a man-child when you eat it. Some of the daily specials are pretty good, but you need to get there pretty early to get them as always sell out. The dining room is like a cafeteria. Mabiles does an enormous lunch business. They specialize in Po-boys, but also have the typical lunch fare. If you wander in at noon, there will likely be half a dozen people in front of you. However, they move quickly (unlike the Laplace Walmart - don't get me started....) . Don't get to the head of the line and start reading the menu board. The Po-boys are excellent. The bread is always fresh. The sandwiches are nicely overstuffed. The lunch specials are so-so. The decor is, charitably, stark. Other adjective that might apply - dated, spartan, primitive, nonexistent, archaic, old. It is not much different than eating in your garage. It is reasonable clean and the magazine displays as you enter the restaurant are always stocked with current copies of various used car sales papers and flyers. So, go for the food not the atmosphere. read more

Every time I'm in LaPlace I eat at Mabile's. They have great food, huge portions and an awesome staff. Im always satisfied with my meal. I've been going there for years and with Brandon at the helm now Im sure I'll be eating there for years to come. Also, I finally realized that they have a huge parking lot in the rear of the building. So there are no more parking issues for me. Do yourself a favor. This place is a local favorite. I've been going to Mabiles since high school working for a place a few steps down the road. This place is classic Cajun all day long. Po'boys are my personal favorite. Their shrimp ones have rave reviews, but they really don't make anything bad between two slices of bread. Bread is soft, yet crispy. (For those in Louisiana, you understand why that statement is important...not everyone enjoys the stale bread version of po'boys, even if it is traditional.) Daily hot meal specials sell out, so don't wait too long. I hope you like fried food! Overall, service personality can be hit-and-miss, but generally good people cooking good food to order. My office recently moved to La Place and I am very thankful that Mabiles is nearby. The sandwiches and Po-boys are off the chain. I really only get one sandwich though when I come here....the Ferty!!! This sandwich has ham, roast beef debris, swiss cheese, and about a gallon of au jus. I literally had to use about 100 napkins while I was eating the sandwich. I mean it is the messiest sandwich you will ever eat, but it is oh so worth it! I'm a fan. I try to stop in whenever I'm in LaPlace for work. I always get the same thing "the Ferdie," which is roast beef, ham and swiss. It is $6.49 for half a sandwhich, but that half is typically more than I can eat. It is overstuffed. The roast beef on the sandwhich is more of a sliced roast beef, but that gravy is the best. There shrimp stew Friday special is also terrific. The decor is very classic. old rural Louisiana. Vintage signs and an ancient counter you order at. I recommend anybody to stop in. read more

Came in today for lunch. I got a large hot sausage patty...Fries and a fountain drink. I haven't had this po boy in so long having been living in virginia the last 12 years. Omg I had a mouthgasm! The food is great but it's not so absolutely wonderful that they can justify the prices for the seafood poboys. Very casual restaurant with TV and plenty open seating but the poboys don't come with sides or drinks and they range in price from $13 to $18 for the seafood. Roast beef and burgers are more reasonable but again, no sides or drinks included. A bit disappointing considering the hype in some of the reviews here. read more

Mabile's has very good overstuffed po-boys and they offer generous portions on the dinner plates. I've only been a couple of times because the hours are a little funny and they are usually closed by 6:00 on weeknights. The seafood is quality and the meats are excellent. The decor is very plain with cafeteria style tables and chairs and a cement floor. It is always clean though, and the staff seem nice. I would recommend everyone stop in and try something. I don't think you will be disappointed. Just be sure you are hungry because they don't skimp on the portion sizes. read more
