I honestly don't know why this place is so busy?!! I had a special there.. my own fault for not ordering a burger at a burger place.. it was a wrap.. it was so sweet.. and had a peculiar flavor.. idk.. I had a bite of my bf's burger bowl?!! It was so bland and dry.. he liked it.. whatever.. had a bite of my daughter burger.. so dry.. so I guess they smash their burgers.. so it's flat.. why?!? Went here tonight for the first time. Great local beer selection, well lit, and clean restaurant. Staff was so friendly and overall very inviting atmosphere without being too folksy. Had the pulled pork sandwich with the slaw (did not even take a bite of) and Carolina mustard bbq sauce on the side. The bread and pork were delicious on their own but the Carolina sauce just didn't work for me. I asked for another bbq sauce and opted for the house. It was ok. The sauce is or at least tastes like it is raw. Like the ingredients are not at all cooked down or cooked together but just mixed. Also had the onion rings which were good BUT I found myself chewing on something battered that was not an onion... maybe calamari? I hope... I would try this place again despite some inconsistencies. read more

Went on a Thursday night just for food. Ambiance was nice, not really busy but service is pretty slow. I had the Baby Got Mac burger, it's supposed to be a burger with buns made of macaroni & cheese. Cool concept, not greatly executed. Beef was kind of bland, as was the Mac. It's kind of just a pile of food on a plate, nothin like a burger to be honest. My husband had the teriyaki chicken sandwich, it was also bland & the teriyaki wasn't a thick sauce but really watery. Bread came out soggy (toasted but sitting in that liquidy teriyaki) asked for a new bun & it came back just on a cold bun. 4 adults went for lunch this past Saturday afternoon, it was still pretty busy @ 2Pm but was able to snag the last table. We all started off with beers (way too expensive $8+ for 12 oz beers) and then had an order of maple bourbon bone in wings (they were rubbery & tasteless). 2 people had burgers, 1 had chicken sandwich & 1 shrimp & grits, all just fair & sides are extra. Total with tip $110.00 (rip off), the staff were polite & atmosphere pleasant but simply not worth the price & quality. read more

Many people raved about this place before I was able to come myself, and I waited quite a while to come eat here. So I will partially attribute my disappointment to my high expectations. My husband and I did a flight of whiskey, which was enjoyable and definitely worth it (even though we both hated one of the three whiskeys). The food, however, was another story. Someone specifically recommended the PB&J wings and the poutine burger, so we got those along with another burger, sweet potato fries, and onion rings. The wings were okay (nothing special) and the sweet potato fries were good. The onion rings were way over breaded and the burgers were just a huge disappointment. It's not that they were bad necessarily, but based on what people told me I was expecting something totally different. The patties were totally over cooked (they didn't ask how we wanted them cooked) and literally crumbling apart as we ate them. They just tasted like plain ground beef with toppings. I might go back just to drink because their alcohol list was incredible, but I definitely wouldn't go back for the food. If I had gone in with the expectation of medium quality bar food I probably wouldn't be as disappointment as I am right now. read more

ok, have now been twice. The wait doesn't ever change. Unless you are standing at the door waiting for them to open, I think you are just going to have to deal with it and plan on it. Now onto the food. What makes a good burger? IMO it starts with the BUN. and boy did these guys nail that part. A bad / stale bun will kill the best of burgers. This bun is perfect. Quality of meat was next, and it was spot on. Done to perfection. I know all this sounds somewhat simple, but if you are in the mood for a great burger then this is the place for you. read more

Gave Mac & Walts a try last night. Maybe I will give it another try when they have been opened longer but as of right now I can say.......................Been there................done that. Service was slow and the staff was forgetful. I ordered nachos with chili as an app. The order came with a ridiculously small amount of Chili and they were cold. Very limited menu read more

My wife and I made our first visit to Mac and Walt's pub on Saturday 2/11 and I must say it was one of the worst experiences I've had in recent years. And we didn't even eat! My wife and I are both handicapped so to park we naturally looked for the handicapped access. It was in the rear of the establishment where the railing was snow covered but the ramp was clear. We get to the door and it is locked. We knocked 3 times with no answer so my wife used her cane to get attention. The hostess opens the door and says "you can't come in this way". Our answer was "why? It's the handicapped entrance"? Her reply was "we have to keep this door locked"! ???? We finally were let in, proceeded to the front desk through a packed lunch crowd. There was 1 both available with 1 couple ahead of us. The hostess said it would be a 2 hour wait? What??!! No one in the world takes 2 hours to eat!! As a result we left. My point is the food may be good but the service and the administration and the staff conduct is deplorable, the worst ever! Take your chances but we'll never return! read more

Food was great overall. Nachos (w/ pulled pork) are just ok...overpriced for average. Cornbread w/ maple butter is fantastic...great portion for price too. Good beer selection. Really nice place for a quick bite. The restaurant is pretty small, but cozy and it does get packed on the weekends. Everything I've had from here has been great. The PBJ wings are bomb and the onion rings are the best I've ever had. Lightly fried and served with house ranch and the 1/2 portions are huge! Pulled pork tacos were so fresh and tasty and served on corn tortillas, delicious! The Reuben is packed with meat on marble rye, you can't beat it! read more

The place is small and the wait is usually long which makes you want to do take out but the food is better when you eat in. If you do take out the food is less than desirable. Wait staff is very friendly and the prices are decent for what you get. read more

My husband and I just came from a great lunch at Mac & Walt's! Everything was delicious, the restaurant was clean, and despite being it being busy, we were in and out in a very timely manner. Christina was our server and she was great - attentive but not not to the point where it felt like she was hovering. Have been here five times and it keeps getting better and better. Pay no attention to the "I didn't get fries with my burger" babies. The burgers at M&W are in the $9-11 range, I was at the Brittish Beer Company in Walpole the other night and their burger and fries is $14, pretty typical . In a nutshell, if you don't like fries, you save a few $$$ on something that is going to stay on your plate untocuhed as the waitress clears your table. If you DO like fries, it's an extra $3 and thye give you enough to feed two people, possible 3. Same goes for the Onion Rings, which are fantastic and for $5 you don't get a side order quantity, you get more than a lot of joints give you for an Onion Ring Appie order that's $7-9 bucks. Another bargain. Their buttermilk chicken sandwich is $6, yeah that's right, $6!! And it's delicious! Burgers are good as well. Standard Pub food for the most part. I've gone with friends, family and coworkers and though I don't drink whiskey, the folks in my party were impressed. As for the beer, well, it's the best you're going to get craft-beer wise within a 10-12 mile radius. They rotate 12 brews, a couple very local, which is awesome and several really really good ones from some seriously awesome breweries. Flights are available as well. Atmosphere is pleasant and not too loud, unlike Homeplate up the street whose main goal seems to be to make their patrons deaf. Love Alberto's a few miles away, but they boast about having 24 beers on tap and 20 are absolute garbage, incredible redundant, doesn't make sense to have Miller, Pabst, Coor, Bud, Amstel, Carona and then a light beer version of each of these particular flavored waters that they carry. Worst thing about Mac and Walts is the size and fills up quickly due to the limited seating and its good reputation. Can't wait until they add some outdoor seating! I highly recommend. read more

Amazing bar food! They only have local craft beer on tap, so if you enjoy craft beer, go here. My girlfriend and I come here at least once a week. I like the bar service much better than sitting at a table, they seem to enjoy your presence(which is always good). I get the wings and the chicken sandwich 95% of the time. The country fried steak and burger's are also a go to for me. Girlfriend like the pretzels with cheese sauce and the chicken sandwich. Food is fairly priced, beer although good, is sometimes pricey. I suggest you visit, its quite good. read more
