We are staying in Mansfield for a dance competition and we looked for a decent place to eat. We landed on Genos and so glad we did! We walked into the "bar" side, and a super friendly and funny staff member, Melissa, greeted us and helped us get settled in the restaurant side. Ed helped us get started with menus, drinks and food, and was funny, personable and fantastic. My mom and I ordered off menu and they were able to accommodate us without issue; a chicken cutlet sandwich with lettuce and pickles. My friend got a steak and cheese. The French fries were to die for. YUM! The place itself was a little dated, but in a fun way. Very clean, very comfortable. When we were leaving, they were setting up for karaoke. Disappointing Food Talk about an establishment that is right up my alley. A bar/restaurant with the bar separated from the dining area. It looks like 1982 in this place. Cool bar with old school lighting. Service was great and the staff is very friendly. Now the problem, the food. Sad to write this but antipasto with American cheese, chicken parm sub with frozen chicken patties, and a philly steak sub with low grade beef. The prices are good and the atmosphere is cool. We usually go to Geno's to hear "Scuba" Steve play. We have been there many times despite the fact that it is a couple towns away. Geno's is the cleanest establishment I have ever seen. I went to the restroom and was pleasantly surprised at the condition. The floor, walls, sink, mirror all spotless. There was soap in the dispenser, paper towels in the towel dispenser and the hot air dryer worked. The hot spigot actually provided hot water and the trash can was not overflowing. When I returned to the bar area I looked around at the counter behind the bar, lights, fans, mirrors and AC/heating vents...all were immaculate. The bar seats about 10 and there are six tables in the bar area. The draft beer selection is about average with at least one microbrew. They have a good selection of liquor and wine. Flat screen TV's line the walls and can be seen from any seat. Prices are competitive. The restaurant area is separate from the bar and is much larger. It appears to be kid friendly. The food is very good. The evening I was there the entire place was packed and the bartenders did a great job of keeping up. I wish I lived closer, I would be there every week. read more

I was recommended to this place from a karaoke friend. They have karaoke every Fridays. The 1st time I went I was immediately welcomed like family from the bartenders and the regular customers singing karaoke. I recently met the owners, and they gave me a warm welcome as well. Went there with a couple of friends tonight, quiet night but great, as I don't like crowding and that place can really get crowded on a weekend night. Ordered the prime rib and OMG! Soooo good! The owner cooled it for me. He did and amazing job. Checked on us to make sure we are happy with the food. Overall, delicious food and great service. I am really sad to see the bad reviews at Genos. I come into town monthly and Genos is my 'go to' spot. The bartenders are super nice and as some of the other reviewers said they hard pour! YAY! The food is good, plenty good for the price. I like the fried mushrooms and fried jalapenos. I have tried some of the pasta dishes and left feeling full and happy. The owners are super sweet and always give me a nice welcome back when I return. Give Genos a chance. If your looking for a quiet place during the week for some drinks and snacks, I would highly recommend it! read more

I love the clam chowder. Nice and thick. The clams are tender. I also love the Veal Parm sub. Real pounded veal with sauce that is delicious and tastes like homemade. And the fish sandwich & fish and chip are awesome and fresh! (I'm fussy about my fish) I ordered the brew fries. They taste like old fashioned. It's a small place with old tyme decor . I can only comment on the bar section of Geno's as I met some friends there for drinks and to listen to some music. It's a tiny space, but they did have a live guitarist that night. The bar side has only a few tables and maybe ten seats at the bar and has a homey feel to it. The two bartenders were attentive and quite friendly ladies. I was surprised there was no pizza, but the menu features other traditional Italian specialties, although I opted for an Italian sub. It was tasty, but came with mayo on it, which I would have preferred not to have - but I did order it with everything (including hots). Geno's is famous for their soups, and as our friend, the entertainer, introduced us to John, the owner, he refused to let us leave without some of his famous soup to go. Very un-"soup nazi" of him, eh? So, tonight, I will sample his chicken escarole soup, and I'm sure I'll be going back to Geno's to try more of his Italian offerings. read more

We live right around the corner from Genos and we love the the people, the atmosphere, and most definitely the food. For anyone on YELP who's rated this place 1-3 stars based on a single experience with the, "Chicken Parmesan," or, "undercooked Prime Rib," is obviously on some quality medication that is quite significantly altering both their palate and their ability to make sound judgment. The Clam Chowder, Fish n Chips, and Rotisserie chicken is phenomenal here! The staff is always attentive and very personable, especially with my fiancée, who comes here when I'm traveling out of town. Went before going to a concert at Xfinity. The italian wedding soup was terrible broth had no flavor and celery was hard. The owner was sweet and delivered the food personally after cooking it. I got the Wed special soup pasta with choice of meatballs sausage or eggplant I chose the eggplant. Marinara sauce was tasty pasta cooked well eggplant was mushy. When owner/cook asked how the soup was I said celery was hard he said it was al dente no....not cooked. I live very close to Geno's and I pop in from time to time. I generally go over to the bar, which is very small but the staff is friendly. The owners are almost always there and will come up and say hello. Drinks are good, and the food is decent. They usually have a guy playing guitar on Friday and Saturday nights, which is a nice touch. It tends to be a bit of an older crowd compared to The Catman Café or Casey O'Connor's. I had a minor issue once with a bartender saying that I didn't pay my tab from the visit before, even though I had the receipt at home. I mentioned it to John, the owner, and he said it was all set and I didn't have to go home to get the receipt, which I thought was quite nice of him. I sometimes come over when I feel like have a few drinks to myself and maybe playing some Keno. Very friendly, "homey" type of feel. read more
