    Pork Belly at Union Straw

Went on 7/15/26 because a friend recommended it. It was really just o.k. We had clam chowder ($11) served warm, not hot, Candied Pork Belly ($16), which was just like eating one spare rib from a Chinese restaurant. It was served hanging on a hook with brown wilted lettuce dropped on a cutting board. Picture below is right after we took it off the hook and cut a small piece off. We also had shrimp tacos ($26) which were just o.k. and a roasted garlic and Ricotta Flatbread ($18) which I think they forgot to put garlic in it. Would not recommend.

Stroll down to Union Straw! I've updated my review from a 4-star to a 3-star since our last dining experience was not that great. I will preface that the restaurant was extremely crowded and maybe short staffed. Our dishes took forever since a lot of the other guests (us included) were attending a comedy show close by. Our sever did apologize and mentioned the kitchen was backed up. And, the General Manager also apologized after the fact which I appreciated as well. Food: I ordered their Harvest Salad with Steak on it and it was awful. Steak had no flavor and also came with very little dressing. My husband ordered their Buffalo boneless chicken and said they were lacking sauce. Service: Lacked due to the overcrowded of the restaurant. We sat awhile before being greeted and our drinks took forever. Ambiance: the restaurant has a warmth and nice decor making you feel very comfortable here. Bar seats are very comfy. Overall: 3.5/5 we have been here before and always had a nice time. I think since it was very busy they could not handle the timing of the food and deliver excellent service. I will be giving them another shot for sure. Cheers ~

Upon entering the restaurant you were met with a cute little sitting area. We were seated quickly and our server who was great got us drinks right away. The menu is small but everything looked so good it was difficult to decide what to get. We opted for the goat cheese hot honey appetizer and clam chowder to begin. The chowder although tasted fine it was soupy. Our waiter was so nice and didn't charge us because we didn't finish it. We then order the Mac and cheese because I need to get that from every restaurant as I consider myself a self proclaimed connoisseur. It had a nice sauce, pasta could of been more al dente and some pepper would of made it a touch better than it already was. We also split a bbq flat bread pizza and an incredible lobster roll. The roll came with home made chips and a delicious French onion dip! Everything was very high quality and to some it may seem pricey but I definitely felt I got my money's worth. The waiter I wish I had remembered his name was so nice and accommodating. I would definitely return possibly try an adult beverage!

We were visiting from out of town for a wedding, this restaurant came highly recommended! Excellent selection of food on the menu with different tastes, there is something for everyone. I would recommend getting a reservation for seating. They had a great selections of draft beer/cider and cocktails.

Stopping in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Located right in Foxborough center, so it is easy to get to. The inside is cool, hip & has a great modern vibe. The menu isn't giant and well thought out. I hate going to a place that offers so many options that they cant execute them all to perfection. Union Straw owns their dishes, everything came out perfect. Attention to detail is the name of their game. We got crispy gnocchi which everyone at the table loved. I tried one but I don't like gnocchi so my opinion is worthless on this one. I got the kama Jamaican chix Sammie, it was great, the roll, slaw, chicken breading all perfection and so juicy! We ended the meal with a delicious skillet cookie with ice cream. The prices are very fair! I'll be back. Service was great and attentive. Love their homage to the Straw Hat Capitol of the US, Foxborough

I want to be mad at this place... Let me explain, I had found them on Yelp months ago (from reading things about the brunch) and today (Saturday) me and Hubby were trying to find somewhere to go and I thought - Ooh lets go here, I called them at 1130 and asked what time they serve brunch until and the girl said 2pm... GREAT, we were a little bit away and we would def make it in time. We get there & this place is CUTE... Super clean and from the outside never would have guessed it was that cute. Get in, are seated right away and was given a lunch menu - we asked for the Breakfast/Brunch menu and was told they only serve on Sunday and right away I was like AARRGGHHHH - the waitress - who was super cool btw noticed I was perplexed... I mentioned how I called and was told until 2, and she even was like - Why wouldnt she say - Ooh Only tomorrow... and I was super in the mood for breakfast. So we went through the menu and grabbed wings, fries, a flatbread & the Hubby got a burger. OMG OMG OMG - redeemed... The wings were GOOD, and I dont even love wings like that - our server suggested the dry rub and Im so glad she did, it was great, the Truffle fries were good, The crab rangoon flatbread - SPOT ON, tasted just like a Crab Rangoon - So good.. His burger was ok he said, but the chips - Yeah those were phenomenal as well! I cannot wait to go back and we are close to the one in Taunton as well so might have to stop in there to check them out & Hope the food is just as good. Will definitely be back SOON... And mad that I was initally mad but was really craving breakfast this am (Im weird, Im one of those, need to eat eggs before I can eat anything else for the day even if its 4pm) I know Im different, LOL

Cute place. Went for lunch. Had the Union Straw Chicken Stew. Figured if the dish carried the restaurant name had to be good right? It was half a chicken which wasn't too big on top of a stew which was a little thin side. With an Amazing biscuit. Service was fine.

Went for Sunday brunch and though it was busy we waited less than 10 minutes. Food and staff were amazing! I had the breakfast burger with the tots and it hit the spot! Recommend the house chips too.

    Swordfish special

Had a reservation for a group of 6 on a Saturday night. We ordered drinks, apps, dinner and dessert. Our waitress Molly was fantastic. Food was delicious, especially the swordfish special and the Berry donut dessert, over the top!

I was in Foxborough and I was told that Union Straw is the best restaurant in the city. With that said, I decided to see if it was true. To begin, I ordered the chicken wings, but they were somehow out of them at 4PM. So I ordered the tenders instead. After a while, I received the tenders which were mediocre. To explain, they were crispy, but a bit overcooked and dry. They could have been better. Thereafter, I ordered the truffle burger with Parmesan fries. After waiting almost an hour, I finally received the food. Knowing that, it was actually very good. To breakdown, the burger was tender and the beef was flavorful. In addition, the bun was fresh and nicely toasted. Also, the truffle aioli was delicious, but they barely put any on the burger. In the same vein, the Parmesan fries were delectable. To prove, the fries were hot, crispy, and were fluffy on the inside. Additionally, the Parmesan added a nice flavor. These were great fries. Bluntly stated, Union Straw has pretty good food, but the wait times are ridiculous.

Here's a good restaurant to eat at not only for dinner, but also a late night fair. Looking for a good place to grab a quick bite to eat? Union straw can fit that crave. They've got a menu ranging from appetizers to sandwiches to full entrées.Because this was later in the evening something off the sandwich selection was the way to go. They have a chicken sandwich called. Kama Jama. It''s prepared two ways: fried or grilled. I went with grilled. It comes on an herb focaccia bun with cheddar spicy slaw and chipotle sauce. Great combination. Though the bun is on the thicker side, it is good tasting. This is a very good chicken sandwich. With the sandwich you have a choice of french fries or a house salad. I went with the house salad. Decent size salad. Every vegetable was fresh which includes lettuce, tomato, and cucumbers. The house salad is a delicious Italian. Friendly staff and a wide open seating arrangement.

We had a reservation that had to wait about 20 minutes on a Saturday night. The food was excellent. We got a steak and egg dish in a pasta with grilled salmon plus some appetizers. Everything came out perfectly. We also loved the sangria, which is made with some Remy Martin. It was a little pricey at $20 so after one we switched to wine ($14). The service was excellent.

We were eventually seated at a dirty table that had to be cleaned. The manager, Solstice, was dismissive from the beginning and failed to communicate important information, including a dining time limit because of the show. We waited over two hours and never received my chicken pasta, despite asking multiple employees and being told it would take another 45 minutes. I ultimately paid for the check and left without my meal. The food was equally disappointing: * Calamari: 0/10 -- cold, mostly tentacles, missing cherry peppers/garnish, and we were told portions were reduced for the "game day menu" while regular prices were still being charged. * Lemon pepper wings: 2/10 -- over an hour, hard, missing pieces and barely seasoned. Katie thankfully corrected them. * Sweet & spicy wings: 1/10 -- undercooked and lacked flavor. * French fries: 8/10 -- honestly one of the better things we had. * We were also given what appeared to be used tartar sauce, which was extremely concerning. The cocktails were another miss. The Shoot for the Stars and Mango Mami were both extremely thick/syrupy and served in plastic cups for $18. The Tropical Margarita was good the first time and terrible the second. The bathroom was filthy, and hearing an employee openly complain about how nasty the women's bathroom was while cleaning it did not help. Eagan was the saving grace--he was pleasant and tried to help--and Katie immediately corrected the wing issue. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to overcome the overall experience. Solstice eventually said he would refund my bill, but I still haven't received the refund. We specifically chose Estella because my sister loves lamb chops and I wanted her to try them for her birthday. I canceled another reservation to come here. After this experience, I would never return and cannot recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.

I had the 8 ounce sirloin which you could cut with the fork. It was cooked perfect and everything came out hot and fresh just like I wanted these otherwise I would've sent it right back cause I like my food to burn in my mouth. They also have for a couple dollars more you could get a filet mignon with special butter on top for $24. Everything came with a soup or a salad. It also came with a pasta or potatoes so starch and a vegetable or instead of the vegetable the day which was a carrot and green bean mix you could also get instead you get coleslaw. I got the coleslaw. It didn't really have a mayonnaise type dressing on it so that was a different kind of taste and it wasn't very cold so I kinda was concerned about that so I only had one bite. But the baked potato that I got was scolding hot. The butter melted right away in it, which is to me as a perfect potato came with sour cream. The steak like I said was tenders could be cooked exactly the way I like it you could cut it with a fork even though I had a steak knife. My partner had the veal Parmesan, which was a very large piece she can see from the pictures with he substituted Angel hair pasta for ziti. I think he should've stuck with a Z because Angel hair was just cooked too much. I was kind of soft like really soft like al dente. But the server was wonderful. She was very friendly. Kurdish came over as each person came in and offered to guess all drinks or a cocktail or something. She was just very involve which was wonderful. Then when it came time for dessert, we had a choice was great and not pudding or ice cream. We got ice cream with the choice of vanilla chocolate or Oreo cookie. I get vanilla the other half Oreo cookie. I did ask if we could get chocolate on it chocolate syrup there wasn't enough charge of a dollar for the hot fudge. It wasn't much so I just split it with my other half cause I didn't want to pay the app charged for two of us. I had a cocktail it was very very good. I don't remember it now, but it had like makers, mark bourbon and stuff and cherries. I didn't know how expensive it was until the bill came cause I didn't realize it wasn't priced on the menu but that's OK. I will learn and not get it again. I felt the bill was kind of high for what we had. We were gonna go out the next site to celebrate our anniversary, but with the price that we paid for dinner that first night on Tuesday we didn't really have enough in a bunch left to go out the next day. Our bill for this was $75 for the two of us. I know that's probably the average price now for going out to dinner, but I just thought that was a little high, but I didn't expect it to be really that much but we had a set price for dinner. But it's all brand new now. The insides all changed over. It's a little bit of dark wood, but I think like a cherry finish it kinda looks like they have a separate area completely from the bar to the restaurant. It isn't blocked off completely but it's made so you really have a separation there and we had gotten the function room in the back which seated with our party was 27. But I think you'll easily fit in 50 people in that back room. We've already decided when we go back. He wants to go back and try the burger but if we do that, we'll probably just get the one sandwich just to see if it's more reasonable period for us but it was wonderful. I really had a good time.
