Omg where do I even begin, I looovvveeee Josh. Came here they don't do 1 hour make up anymore they do 15 min, but I stayed longer so Josh ended up doing my whole face every chance he had after he helped out customers. He's very knowledgeable knows everything about the brand every lipstick to shadow to mascara. He was very helpful n sweet just amazing attitude n personality. I was going to a wedding that I wasn't super excited about but after he did my make up I couldn't wait to go! He's a magician he completely transformed my face. I don't have eyebrows n he made me have Kim kardashian brows I'm blown away. His hands r so soft I felt like I was getting a face massage. I got sooooo many compliments on my make up from my u er driver, my neighbors, everyone at the wedding I mean he just made me feel like a dream girl I can't even put it into words. I'm so grateful for him he really made my day and helped me out soooo much with all the products that I needed! He should be a manger n running the place because he's just that good with everyone that came in not just me. This store has the worst Customer Service ever! I walk in the store to get color matched. One makeup artist doing makeup on a lady, the employee at the register helping a client. No one said hello, no one said I'll be with you in just a moment. I kept passing my the artist and the lady getting her makeup done, and the artist clearly saw me waiting but didnt bother to acknowledge me. I stand by the register and THAT employee acts like he dont see me. Another lady comes in the store after me and gets helped right away by the employee at the register... he saw me too that ive been waiting to get helped, and he side-eyed me, like i didnt see him just attend to the other lady. I spoke to the artist and asked her if there was anyone else working there, she said with attitude, no, its just the two of them. I told her i been waiting and a lady comes after me and she gets helped before i do. Then she huffs and puffs because now she needs to stop what shes doing to help me. I told her its ok dont worry about it and i walked away. I felt discriminated. Their customer service is horrible. Who hires that quality of employees? I walked over to Sephora instead and the best service i could have ever gotten by a guy there (didnt catch his name). Had a great experience at this location. I had a wedding to attend to and the make up artist did an excellent job. The make up stayed all night and it looked amazing. In this location you pay for the make up a flat price, I would prefer to go to a location where you can purchase Mac products for a certain amount and get a full make up as a return ( I think Northridge does it this way). I did received a free mascara though. Will definitely use MAC again in the future. read more

Do not get me wrong, I FREAKING LOVE MAC MAKE UP, but man, I sometimes hate coming to this store only because I always feel like a smaller person or feel like the make up artists are belittling me. PLUS: Huge store with everything you need, all the eyeshadows, collections, brushes and what not in one place. Even if they don't have it, there is a Nordstroms down the hall where they probably have it. NEGATIVE: Customer service sucks! Every time I go into this Mac store u leave with a smile on my face. Not just because I buy some amazing new makeup, but also because of their service level. The staff has always been kind, Profesional and helpful. They are always helping you find the right new color or a new product when you're in the market for a change. They always make sure to take care of you quickly but never make you feel rushed. I love it. Today I'm even more specifically grateful for the staff here. I walked in with a problem that was caused by the Tarzana location (worst service ever) and they helped me with it. Joe and Jen are incredible and you can tell their great managers because the entire staff works as a team and are happy. No more messing around with the other location, this is go to spot! read more

I'm a big shopper at the Mac stores and I am extremely disappointed in this location. Actually, just for one of the employees. Last week I bought couple brush cleaners from the Mac store at the grove(everyone was amazing) and I took it home to realize it wasn't the ones you spray and wipe but you actually have to wash them(which I'm not fond of). My mom accidentally threw the receipt away and i had a feeling they were gonna need it but I thought it was worth a shot. When I walked in someone asked me what can I help you with and I told her in a normal response "I actually wanted to return these but I don't know if I need a receipt or not, if I do it's fine" she called someone else over Now I wish I got her name. She had dark short hair. She comes and in attack mode "goes well you need to have those receipts it says it on the bottom no returns without them." Ok I understand that and I figured t would be the case but don't be an asshole about it. I honestly won't be shopping at any Mac stores anymore after this because it was plain ridiculous. They have our info in the computers that track all our purchases yet they need receipts for returns? Seriously? What's the point of having it in the system. So my friends and I were here for the Archie' Girls Collection Event a couple of days before the collection was actually available in stores. There was a long line outside of anxious women waiting to get their hands on all the goodies inside, I being one of them. I always enjoy coming to these events. Could it be the complimentary cocktails and finger foods? Yes, but you see, make-up is a vice of mine. Add some cocktails and it becomes a dangerous situation. The girls at this store were so sweet and helpful. One in particular, Arian, was extremely patient with us as we went back and forth between products. I also met Lora Arellano here ! At first, it was 4 stars because I went in with a couple questions and this one girl with awesome blue hair helped me out and recommended a lot of products without being pushy at all. it wasn't busy when I walked in, but by the time I had decided what i would be purchasing, it got busy. she dropped off my products at the front and told me that i would be helped by whoever was at the counter. Now, my purse is a black hole. that means that it takes me FOREVER to find my wallet, which can potentially hold up a line which is one of my pet peeves. While she was scanning everything, I took that opportunity of me standing there to rummage through my bag so that once everything was scanned, i would be ready to swipe my card and get out of there. That means I couldn't watch her scan my stuff... which has NEVER been a problem. all the stuff is there so that means i'm going to buy it, right? The only problem Ive ever had was accidentally buying another item, but if its unopened, I can return it. Once I got home, I realized that she forgot to give me one of my products. She didn't charge me for it, but still... that eyeliner was one of the reasons why I even went into the store.. all the other stuff was just extra. It kinda pissed me off because I physically saw the first girl who helped me put it with the pile of make up that was supposed to come home with me so I don't understand how the girl who was ringing me up could've missed it.... anyway, other than that. its pretty good. read more

I am a big fan of color, and this cosmetics line has some great ones. The eyeshadows go on easily, and they stay on for hours. I also like the creamy texture and ease of applying their eyeliner pencils. Their Zoom lash mascara nicely enhances one's eyelashes (although sometimes it goes on a little clumpy), and they always have some really cool gift sets, particularly at Christmas time. The down side of that is they rarely continue the colors I seem to like from the gift sets. I always have fun trying on colors and seeing what's new and fabulous. The sales girls are typically quite helpful, and most of them can do a great makeup application/makeover. Having been to a great many MAC stores, both in department stores and standing solo, some of the male makeup artists (esp. at Nordstrom's) are better than the females !! The trick is NOT spending too much money in here. read more

The make up itself gets 5 stars! I've been using MAC for almost 10 years! I'm especially fond of their lip glosses and eyeshadows. Like most people have stated, customer service isn't always the greatest. Sometimes there'll only be one other customer and they won't greet me when I walk in or they'll just walk by without acknowledging me. It helps if you go in often enough to get recognized as a regular customer or if you know one of the girls. However anytime I've had questions they've gone above and beyond to help me out. Last time I went in I had a few questions regarding some eyeshadows I already had at home. The girl brought them over and showed me new ways of applying them. First of all it wasn't busy at all but both girls I spoke to were so rude they looked annoyed when I asked them questions about the products I wanted and eventually just brushed me off and walked away. They are sooo sweet and friendly here at this Mac. I really liked and appreciated the way they treated me. They were not fake and not like the girls at many of the other stores who do not like other women because of insecurity or whatever, so they ignore me when I ask for a product number and want to pay and go. I was thinking of Christmas gifts to buy for the ladies at my office. I didn't know what women want. The billion dollar question for most guys I believe. What best gift to get at MAC Cosmetics at Westfield Topanga. The MAC Store is located at the heart of the mall on the second floor near the Food Court. From the way my colleagues speak of MAC, I thought of the place as a HUGE store, but it was very small. Its small because MAC knows quality. Since I don't know the difference between makeups, I decided to just get two gift cards. I can't reveal the value of the gift cards, but it was a great amount. The counter was very helpful and I asked about the IMATS in Pasadena. They knew a lot about the the trade show and were looking forward to attend. My colleagues were ecstatic to get the gift cards and I guess I may have to understand the cosmetic/makeup industry. I remember getting a MAC Gift Certificate many years ago. I gave 2 stars because I do like some of their products but their customer service and return policy sucks!!! I bought a studio fix foundation a week ago but I found out it was too dark for me (I'm usually an NC 30 with their concelears but smh it wasn't the case with their foundation) PLUS is it just me or MAC foundation smells like paint?! I also bought a Prep+Prime setting powder thinking it might be a dupe for my MUFE HD powder..NOT! So, I tried returning it to Macy's near my workplace but they told me I have to return it to an actual MAC store. Okay. I went back to this store to return it and I told them I lost the receipt. The lady at the counter told me upfront that they don't accept returns nor exchanges without a receipt. I mean they do have my purchase information on the system right?! She says this to me with a look on her face (or she might be a case of resting b*tch face). She didn't sound sorry or anything like that. Just rude. I've always felt awkward coming to a MAC store because they never felt welcoming. Anyhow, I'm not coming back. I advise you to go to Macy's or Nordstrom instead. I've had my makeup done by MAC artists many times but Kelly by far has been my favorite; she gave me the best eye makeup I've ever had. Her winged eyeliner was insane!! I love MAC! Their colors, long lasting make-up, addictive lip-glosses and special featured lines! But I walked in this locations, played with a few lip gloss colors and walked out without any representative asking if i needed help or offering to help me. I usually go to the MAC counter in Macy's or Nordstroms and honestly I plan to keep it that way, this stand alone store was really a disappointment. Not much to comment, I was looking for a pail pink lip-gloss/lip stick that's professional yet still young, I walked in, they has 3 artist working on appointments and one walking around not engaging any of the customers. I played with a few colors on my hand mixed a few of them and then walked out... nothing too eventful. I guess if you're looking for a VERY quick in and out I-Know-What-I-Want/Need encounter perfect place. If you're looking for something and need advise or something, I don't think you can really expect it here. read more

Great location! Had a wonderful experience being assisted by Jessica H.! This beautiful and super helpful girl was a real star helping me to get the colors of the items I needed. She showed a lot of knowledge by guessing at first the right color of concealer and eyebrow pencil for me! She was wonderful and very attentive at all times to me and my friend, even being by herself and helping two other customers at the same time. Love it. Melissa, an associate, was super nice and helped me pick up make up which complimented products I already own. Never once tried to up-sell me. I highly recommend this store not only because they take pro-member cards (industry members can sign up for a 30% discount for a small fee--worth it...), but also the outstanding customer service. The ladies are always willing to help me test product and give tips and tricks. I really enjoy learning about makeup ascetics, so this is a added bonus... Anyways...5 stars. read more

Yelp doesn't allow me to give 0 rating. I've been here several times and each time I walked in ALL staff ignored me. It happens all the time. I was the only one in the shop and there was no other customers. They all chit chat among each other and left me standing there forever. They did see me walk in but didn't care to acknowledge me or ask if I needed anything. I heard that because they are not on commission, they don't care to greet you unlike major department stores. I had this 1 male staff who is very unknowledgeable regarding moisturizer, foundation and powder. I told him that either their moisturizer or powder makes my face white in photos. He didn't know what I was talking about and failed to help. EVERY time AND I MEAN ALL THE TIME I go here, all their staff is not only unfriendly, but unknowledgeable in their product line. One girl told me to buy this powder to prevent white face, then I was told by another staff that she was wrong, etc. The nightmare never ends. So I stopped shopping at all MAC stores. With staff being unfriendly, ignoring you when you walk in each time and not educated in their product, I can see why I'll never go back. Even the manager ignores you and didn't bother to ask if you are being helped. Do I need to write a complaint letter to MAC corporate office to get all the stafff and manager fired in order for them to wake up? They got a job because we the customer is paying for their salaries. I say boycott and don't buy. See if they have a job and shut down several MAC stores. In these business it's the customer who is boss. This is an excerpt from the MAC MANUAL (yes I have a copy of it): "Step 1-Greet the Customer Without a happy Customer, there would be no M-A-C. The Customer is the most important person to our organization and the Customer is the purpose of our work. Welcome the Customer by being approachable, confident and sincere. The artists and employees at this location are so knowledgeable about the product and the differences in each and don't hesitate to tell you the difference or why one is better for you based on the type of skin you have. Only went here to pick up a couple palettes so I can fill up at home,the Asian woman employee asked me if I would like to look at anything else and I asked if it were possible to have a small sample of a pigment,and in a rudely tone she goes "NO WE NEVER GIVE ANY SAMPLES OF OUR PIGMENTS" Uh yeah you guys do I've gotten two at this location before & even came back & bought the full size pigments I sampled since they were amazing.Whatever though one less sale I suppose.I don't get what the big deal is on handing out samples though?Don't you want your customers to come back & buy the full size product after they love the sample?Guess not. Secondly I wanted my palettes EMPTY.Without even asking me she started charging me the shadow holders lol yeah I don't think so.Quickly I told her no I don't need the holders.Next time ask your customers if they need it or not don't be rude and charge them for something they didn't ask for. The worst customer service I have ever ran into! called to make an appointment for party of five. I was asked to give details and told that someone will get back with me in a few minutes. I waited for 48 hours no one has contacted me! called again- there is no note about my request !! Not only this but after I was asking three times how many girls are they in the store to do the make up service and I have been told that it's not known yet, only after giving AGAIN all my details, I was told that there is only one girl every hour and not more than this. so bottom line I wasted three days on a poor customer service without scheduling an appointment at all!!! read more

After my teen-years of experimenting with drug-store brands of makeup like Covergirl and Revlon, M.A.C was my first true "brush" with adult makeup. The wonders of eyeshadow! Using brushes! These doors were closed to me before my introduction to M.A.C. After toting around their eyeshadows, brushes, and lipstick.. like a curious girl who wants to explore something other than her first love, I decided to go elsewhere. I had a brief fling with Macy's and Nordies makeup counter. And experimenting with Sephora makeup counter was my little infatuation for awhile. Every hot brand under the sun, I have tried. Laura Mercier, DIOR, Urban Decay, Smash box, NARS...in the end, through it all, I came running back to M.A.C. Plain ol' M.A.C. There's a good reason so many women swear by their cosmetics. Alisha, the makeup consultant and Manager at M.A.C at Topanga mall is really savvy with the M.A.C products and how to use it to the best advantage. After her help, never again will I go to a department store M.A.C counter, because they are not as well trained as the ones in the Studio locations. As a true makeup artist, she was extremely helpful by providing great tips on which shades are best and which product or tool works well with achieving looks you want. I already have a few years of make-up techniques under my belt, but after her help I was but a novice before. She was very patient with answering my questions and took the time to explain and show me how to use the tools properly. First, she would take a mirror and I would watch her use brushes and product on my features. Then she would watch me put it on myself. While watching me put the makeup on, she would provide constructive criticism on what to improve about my technique or what to avoid. In addition, she advised me the best products to own and did not try to oversell me. In fact, she told me "you don't need this" when I inquired about certain extraneous things. Best customer service ever and I would love to come again and see her again. But after her help and her patient assistance, I think I'm happy with what I've got for a long, long time. I no longer waste product and I have included all her tips in my makeup routine. M.A.C has refined me from looking like a tacky teen who wears her makeup to mask her face to a woman whose makeup wears her to accentuate and reveal her natural beauty. read more
