Had an appointment on New Year's Eve at 11am at this location. My makeup artist was Liz. She was friendly and took her time. I didn't go in with a vision just that I wanted red lips, smoky eyes and my accessories were gold. I guess I should have been a bit more vocal as I just wanted to leave the vision up to her. I just felt my eyes gave off more of an 80s vibe. I did end up blending it more when I got home and it looked way better. Otherwise the ding in the stars is that I bought a cherry lip liner along with powder foundation and she never put it in my bag. I was pretty disappointed as it was $25. I have the receipt but would have no idea how I would prove she didn't place it in my bag so I just let it go. I do recommend when shopping at this location to double check your purchase! read more

I came in to get my makeup done today. I won't mention the girls name who did my make up. She was nice but unfortunately she couldn't give me more than 50% of her attention. I came in for a 45 minute appointment and she was interrupted every five minutes. She had to attend every customer. My 45 minute makeup session took an hour and a half. I left without letting her finish. What is really upsetting is that I came in because of getting ready for an event. She knew that, but still left every 5 to 10 minutes to attempt the customer that walked in the store. If you want to get your makeup done do it at Nordstrom not the stand alone store. read more

Customer service needs to improve. Two young women were working (6/13/25, 8:15pm). One was restocking while the white employee was helping a white customer. Instead of coming to ask me if I needed help once that customer left, she left to help restock. I was the only customer. I asked for help. She gave me what I needed but definitely not at all attentive as she was to the other customer. read more

I really don't wear a lot of makeup, so a visit to a store that only deals in makeup is a little bit intimidating, to say the least. I had no appointment, but Lily was there to help me with a smile on her face. Not only was she kind, but she helped to color match my skin and explained which foundation would work better for the reason I was purchasing it. Since I'll be using this foundation on stage, it's important that I get the right product. Once I was ready to purchase the product we chose, I asked a question about application and Miguel explained why different brushes are used for certain types of coverage. He showed me some examples and also explained why the foundation I purchased should not be used as primer on my eyelids. Then without hesitation, Lily jumped up to get me a small sample of the product I *can* use for a primer on my eyelids. These two are just the best! I could not be more happy with my purchase and with my experience at the store. And finally, when checking out, I was asked if I wanted to donate to the Trevor Project. Umm, yeah, of course I do! I have been a MAC girl for many years - so it's really difficult for me to go to the MAC store and just walk out with the items I originally went in for. Today I went in for just foundation, and was helped by Ximena. Well, the colors she had on her eyes was just SO BEAUTIFUL! So of course I had to ask her about the colors she was wearing. She showed me the products she used including the awesome pigment glitter (and I think that's where she sold me! I love sparkle!) She was even kind enough to offer to show me how to apply the colors, so I took her up on her offer. Even though she was having to also help guests as they came in the shop, she was still able to provide me with outstanding customer service with a smile! When the salesperson is this sweet, you don't mind waiting for them. Well, needless to say, I loved the colors she showed me and bought them all! Thanks Ximena for your assistance! I had an appointment to have my makeup done at the MAC counter at 4pm on a Saturday for engagement photos. I showed up around 3:30pm because our photographer had moved up the time of our photoshoot which was about 2 hours away without traffic. Wendy came over to help me and I explained the situation to her, and she said she could take me earlier so that I could make it on time. I absolutely loved the way she did my makeup. She did exactly how I wanted it. I asked for more dramatic eyes, and contouring to make my face appear slimmer, and she nailed it. I only wish I had more time to stay and buy some more of the products from her (I bought the lip liner and lipgloss). I will definitely be back to purchase from her directly next time I'm in town. I have always deeply appreciated and enjoyed the service and quality that this location has provided and the makeup company MAC has offered in product quality but NOT THIS TIME. This incident took place on Monday of this week. I often do not write bad reviews because I am always understanding of when businesses get busy or things happen out of their control. But this was definitely IN their CONTROL. First and foremost the day I went in it was extremely busy. Understandable but when I went in I was not acknowledged and despite an employee with blonde hair noticing I came in and saw me waiting for a while, did not say at least "we will be right with you". It wasn't until another employee with darker hair told me that they will be with me in a little bit. Of course I brushed this off because like I said they were busy. Now the real issue here is that I felt discriminated against and looked down upon! I am a Hispanic woman, but I am an educated woman nonetheless and I do speak spanish. During my time while waiting, I exchanged kind words in Spanish with the other employee about being serviced soon. During that interaction the employee with the blonde hair looked at me with disgust in her face?! Everyone is entitled to their opinions but what is not okay is the fact that During times where she was extremely free she did not acknowledge me NOR DID SHE ASK AT LEAST WHAT SERVICE I WANTED. It wasn't until the other kind employee came to talk to me and we talked about what I was looking for. I left that day without service because I felt looked down upon by the employee with lighter hair. The employee with the darker hair was great! but because the one with the blonde hair created a hostile environment and I no longer felt comfortable enough to stay. It was very sad to see that one employee was working effortlessly and attending all the clients ALL WHILE providing services and keeping a clean work area (which I deeply appreciate in the beauty world) and communicating and the other employee was picking and choosing who to take and not really talking to anyone that did not look white... Like I said, I am an educated individual and don't go around just complaining but this in itself was a negative experience I will NEVER forget. I do hope to return soon but I can not say with confidence that I would return if that same employee was present at the same time. My daughter (C) had an appointment at South Coast Plaza MAC store for The Essentials and Wow Brows. Ximena was on schedule and AMAZING... she picked out all the basic necessities to match skin tone and colors to achieve the natural, everyday look that C wanted to achieve during the visit. Being that C's face was a virgin to make-up, Ximena kept it simple as she teaches C, step-by-step, on how to apply everything while being very detailed with techniques and tips... taking the time explaining and giving analogy to help C better understand the reason behind what was being done, making them easier to remember. The full make-up tutorial was unexpected and C was so impressed on how Ximena enhanced her natural beauty. When The Essentials was completed, C looked fabulous and felt confident she can do it on her own. I recently made a 15 minute glam appointment to have my eye and lips done for a holiday party. This was the worst make application experience I have experienced. Olivia (red curly hair), was the make up artist, I showed her a picture of what I wanted, explained I typically like more of a natural look. Once I saw my eyeshadow it looked like I had bruises on my eyes, then she proceeded to apply this cheap looking glitter. This look nothing like the picture. I took off the eye shadow asked for something simple, top eyeliner, when I tell you it was rough it was ROUGH. Olivia did a thick unflattering wing application of eyeliner and when I asked for more natural. She got noticably fustrated, rushed through doing my make up , was heavy handed with the brush application, dropping brushes on the floor and to top it off she had horrible customer service passive aggressive attitude! She applied false lashes which were unevenly applied, I mentioned this she tried fix them with no success. I literally came back home had to re- do my makeup and take off the uneven lashes. I left so unhappy and still spent 45 bucks because she spent the time doing the make up. I will never go back there nor suggest this MAC store to anyone and stick to Nordstrom's Lancôme YSL and Chanel! Olivia- next time a customer is providing feedback of what they want do not get combative, or rude but listen and if you are not equipped ask for help! Humility and receptiveness goes along way. The one star is for the other two girls that were genuinely kind and welcoming. read more

Though I love the Mac Store, I like going to smaller mac counters when I'm in a hurry and need to not be distracted by all the cool mac makeup! I have tried every brand of makeup. As far as the studio fix powder foundation- I can not find a better product that I like more. I have used it for years and it's perfect. My only negative 2 things about mac counters or stores is that they are out of stock a lot, so it's hard to count on them having what you want. And waiting for help also is not ideal being they are so busy all the time. But because of this, when I do go, I buy more then I need so I have to go less. read more

If you're ever invited to a party at the MAC store, definitely go! Tonight I was a guest at the Spring Colour Forecast collection preview event. It was so amazing...cute male waiters passed out cocktails and appetizers, and we got to wander around the store checking out all the new lipsticks, eye shadows, glosses...it was all so gorgeous! There were tons of sales people there, but they weren't at all pushy, and you could shop at your leisure. Obviously this was a very popular event, and the line was out the door. It pays to arrive on time, or even a little early. We were given a sheet with the names of all the products on it, so all we had to do was mark off what we wanted, and then a sales associate would take it to the back and get everything ready for purchase. However, if you are like me who works long hours and still wants to have a presentable face, this place works. I've learned which foundations are good for light coverage and heavy coverage, long hours, short hours, primers, make up removers, brushes yada yada yada. I just like to know that I can get my product and tips along the way. The girls I usually encounter are helpful and nice. I haven't encountered anyone standoffish. They're informative and seem knowledgeable with the products. When there's a crowd, it doesn't take long for someone to tell me they'll be there. Then again, I try to avoid crowds anyway but on occasion, that can't be helped. Again, the employees here seem much more knowledgeable with the makeup. I've been to macys/nordstrom counters where I've been mismatched and looked bright white or tanned in a can. One time, one of the gals was giving my sister the "smoky look". My sister asked me how she looked and I smiled and told her she looked fantastic. I stood behind the makeup artist (so she wouldn't see me) and held my fist up and made a punching motion. I've changed addresses, hairstyles, haircolors, jobs, tastes in restaurants but one thing hasn't changed: my love for MAC Cosmetics. It was not a perfect romance; early on, I had a reaction to the eye shadows. But then came the Veluxe formula of eye shadows and I am wearing it with no problems. I've never heard them suggest I need to contour my face to look more Western or do my eyes in a way that would give me the appearance of an eyelid crease. Nor have they ever tried to aggressively sell concealer to cover up blemishes, which other stores/brands will do automatically. Yes, the men and women at MAC Cosmetics are fabulous. The prices are reasonable. Especially considering that the products last for a while. Blushes, powders, eye shadows (and I tried a quad recently and it didn't irritate my eyes at all), Fluidline gel liners, lipsticks and lip glosses are worth trying. The product that doesn't work for me here is the mascara, but I have heard the newer mascaras are good. This is a store worth checking out. read more

I usually hate this place because it's always so freakin' crowded, but it wasn't too bad this time, even though it was a Sunday, and it was like 90-degrees outside. Asked a girl named Brin to help me out and she was very nice. She did my eyes really quickly and I thought she did a pretty good job.
