This company has review after review of bad reviews. I am going to join hundreds and tell my story. I order a setting spray for $41.70 on 05/01/2026. They have a 16 day return? I received a notice 27 days later that the product had been delivered. I NEVER received it. I reported this to the company, after 6 weeks of going back and forth with them NOTHING WAS RESOLVED. The product was not replaced or was I refunded my money. This company does not run a real business. They took my money... never gave me the product and did everything but call me a lyer. We had a negative experience here with customer service. I sent my daughter in to find something to buy with our "$5 off $10 purchase" coupon that expires today. The one thing she found that she liked wasn't in stock and would have to be ordered, so she couldn't use her coupon on that. So she found something else to buy that she didn't like as much. With the confusion of all of this she forgot to give the coupon until the end. But Crystal knew she had a coupon because she told her she couldn't use it on a delivery order and didn't ask about it. When my daughter asked if she could use it, because that's the whole reason she came today- it expires... Crystal told her it's too late to use it. When my daughter came out and told me what happened, I walked her right back in and asked Crystal why she couldn't return this item and repurchase it with the coupon because that's the whole reason we came in?! Crystal said she didn't know if we could return it because we just bought it. Crystal: of course you can return something just purchased to correct a mistake. I know this. You know this. Sekina B made my hair dreams, come true, I had clipping extensions that I had done myself, and she was able to color match my hair with the extensions and blend in my uneven pieces. She did it all, she knew how to work with my hair texture, which was a big plus it's very hard to find hairstylist in this area Who can work with curly hair. She was on point. Seriously, dont ever call this location expecting someone with a brain cells. I was at my usual location in Huntington Beach to pick up a particular shampoo. They were out but said that the Costa Mesa location had it. The first girl who answered put me on hold for 7 minutes and never came back. The 2nd girl who went to check, same thing. The 3rd girl who answered said one went to lunch and one left. Uh, what??! Also, because this brand of shampoo, Ouai, is a common brand, it should've taken less then 1 minute to walk over and check. Whoever is the manager of this location needs to teach, what should be common sense to the staff, and maybe have new hires learn the products you carry. read more

Typical Ulta Beauty. Store is a mess. Fair selection. Interesting and rushed interaction with cashier, Samantha. I'm sure she's lovely but it was off putting. I wanted to smell a fragrance prior to checking out, to which her associate had to locate the tester (one wasn't on the floor), but she kept saying "well let's finish this transaction first." No, Samantha. I would like to smell the perfume. Second, I had a coupon for $10 off $40 and although my total was well over $40, she brushed me off and again said "let's just finish this transaction." Located on 17th street, its a relief and highly convenient to not have to drive so far out for an Ulta Beauty. I found this location to be organized and clean. They have a large supply of products and a order-pick up station. The parking lot is big, but it shares the space with several other businesses in the plaza. Still, I had no issues finding parking. Service is great as well as everyone was friendly, kind, and approachable. read more

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at Ulta was incredibly disappointing. The staff was shockingly rude and dismissive -- it felt like they thought they were doing me a favor just by acknowledging my presence. There's an air of entitlement that's hard to ignore, like they believe they're makeup royalty. Newsflash: customer service still matters, and rolling your eyes at genuine questions is not a good look. To top it off, some of them were walking around with more attitude than product knowledge, and honestly, their own makeup looked like it was about to give up and slide off their faces. I've had far better, more helpful interactions at Sephora and Planet Beauty, where the employees actually seem to want to help you and know what they're talking about. read more

So I was having a bridal shower and was looking to get my makeup done at an affordable price. They offer both everyday and formal makeup application at this Ulta! I was able to receive a full makeup look with a $60 MAC purchase. I struggled to book an appointment online but was able to easily schedule an appointment by calling in. On the day of, I was running early so they were actually able to bump me up a bit earlier. I got my makeup done by Coco! She was the best! So sweet and she did my makeup exactly how I wanted it done. She was friendly and made small talk with me too. Overall, for the price, what a steal! I'd definitely come back for makeup application here. read more

I am a Diamond member and visited this store for the first time today. The customer service throughout the non-salon part of the store left a lot to be desired. I was not greeted when I came in and I certainly was not bid farewell as I left, despite purchasing several products. It felt as if the young ladies could not be bothered to ask me if I needed help as I browsed the store and were certainly less than enthused as I checked out. Brianne was amazing. But have to leave the store with my hair half wet because she was feeling the pressure of her manager on needing to closed the store is just not ok. If you are going to be rushing for people to leave the store and don't have a proper service, then don't allow appointments at specific times. Now I need to get home and style my hair after paying for a service that includes styling my hair. I worked for hospitality and understands business hours but if you need to stay open for a bit longer to keep a customer happy than you should do it. The manager was amazing and friendly! Unfortunately when I went to pay, the cashier (according to the receipt says "Maria") was rude. She asked me if I had a customer number and gave her my number and she said I wasn't in the system. I told her my number again and she realized that she typed/heard the wrong number and instead of laughing it off or apologizing in a friendly manner, she blamed me as if I was in the wrong as if I gave her the wrong cellphone number. I have had this number for 18 years. Honestly, that is so rude and weird. Hire better staff. I am Latina and there is plenty of nice people that can do a better job. I just had the weirdest experience in this store. They didn't have the lip color I was looking for in stock, which was a bummer, but it happens. I found a volume spray and got in line to pay. That's when things really went south. Checking out, I was asked to input my phone number, which I declined to do, because--do I need a reason? Apparently so! The associate got super aggressive, like, immediately. First she listed all the reasons I should. When that didn't work, she suggested I use "somebody else's number, anyone you know." What? No. That's weird right? So again, I said no thank you. The associate became clearly bothered. I asked if it was going to be a problem that I wouldn't give a phone number--because I was genuinely starting to think I might not be allowed to complete my transaction if I didn't give one--and she said "no, no not a problem at all," in a tone that made clear the exact opposite. What's going on behind the scenes in this store? Are employees being punished for not reaching certain phone number quotas? I'm not being sarcastic. I'm truly curious/concerned. Anyway, I couldn't get out of there fast enough. It was the most uncomfortable experience. The location is convenient, but from now on I'll be driving the few extra miles to the mall. read more

I am very pleased with the customer service at this location. The ladies are very attentive and pleasant to work with. I was able to get all my questions answered. You will find most of the ordinary products at this location. Unfortunately, there were a few in particular that were sold out when I visited. The prices are fair compared to buying online. There's a huge variety of cologne, perfumes and hair products. Checkout was easy and seamless. Also, the ladies are so kind when customers return and exchange items. Had booked a blow dry at 4pm, arrived early and no one was there. A few salon techs showed up at about 330 and began assisting with a child haircut for someone else. At 4pm and went to see if they were ready and the solo stylist was still cutting the child's hair and said it would be 15 more minutes, a second stylist seems to be busy hair drying her own hair. I was surprised at first because for as busy as it was there seemed to be no staff except for the sweet & helpful girl at the front that was ringing customers up. I had a couple issues trying to find my shade for the Shape Tape so I did my best guesswork and finally went to the front, I asked the cashier if she would be able to locate my past purchase to see what shade I was and she was super helpful and looked it up on the register. Let me start by saying that I barely take time to write reviews on yelp because I am really busy. However, their hair salon girl deserves this review. I am not sure why the hair salon stylist gave me an attitude since the first time I walked in to my hair consultation. She barely took the time to go over what I wanted and said find more pictures and bring them back if you want... OKAY. She was not nice nor PROFFESIONAL, but I decided give her a chance since I UNDERSTAND not everybody has customer service skills. I went to my highlight appointment at 4 o'clock and she mentioned she had someone at 6 o'clock and said that if she was not done she will work in both of us simultaneously. I said, I HAD NO PROBLEM with that. At 6 o'clock she was not done with my hair and she started crazy rushing because her next appointment showed up. She barely finished washing, drying, and styling my hair. What bothered me was that she was rushing and not even paying attention to the fact that she was not even styling my hair correctly. I even asked for some oil because she did not care how my hair look with the end result. Wouldn't you want your clients to look nice and happy once you finished their hair? I am not sure why would she schedule a client for 6 o'clock if I had scheduled an appointment for full highlights and root touch-up (which of course takes hours) anyways, I walked away without complaining. I work customer service and I am very understandable, I even left her a tip (Which now I am not sure she even deserved for her horrible service.) Lastly, I want to end up by saying I called the ULTA store to reschedule my appointment because my work schedule just changed. She answered the phone and said she was not available for the day I wanted Tuesday, which I honestly understand. She also mentioned that the system had rescheduled my original appointment to another time 1 o'clock when I had scheduled my appointment at 7 o'clock. WEIRD? I told her I would call back to see what I could possibly do because of my new work schedule (I was planning on drive to this location from LA) She showed no interest was so ever in keeping a client and after I hanged up the phone I received a text from the store SHE IMMEDIATELY CANCELED my appointment! So dissatisfying service! I never said go ahead and cancel my appointment, I told her I would call back to reschedule. Her interest in keeping clients is ZERO and her customer service skills EVEN WORST! I am not sure how she said her schedule is so busy if she treated me as a customer so terribly. I was looking for a specific cosmetic. They had a display of that cosmetic by the front door. I stopped to look for my shade, and could not find it. There were two sales people watching me, and neither one offered to help me. I looked at them, and one of them told me that that was only a display, and pointed to a shelf where I could find the item. I walked towards the shelf. The lady who pointed met me at the shelf, pointed to the item I was looking for, and walked away. I found what I was looking for, but did not like the lack of attention and courtesy. read more

Where to begin... I placed a buy online pick up at store order at this location, and the benefit georgia blush I received was USED. Unacceptable. Where is the quality control selling a used product I am going to use on my face during a global pandemic? Next, I tried to return a $14.00 meow meow tweet deodorant that did not work for me. I barely used this product, which I purchased because the lavender bergamot stick I usually buy from this company was out of stock. Your return policy states: "Returns are easy! No need to have your original printed receipt when you make a return if you used your Ultamate Rewards membership number on your purchase. If you are not a member of did not use your membership number, your original receipt is required." I am a rewards member, I shop at ulta both online and in-store. I give my phone number EVER SINGLE TIME I shop, I know how guest profiles work. This return was not only difficult, your manager on duty Cynthia treated me like a criminal, shouted at me from across the register and embarrassed me in front of a line of other customers. I was profiled, and treated like a thief and criminal and did not experience inclusive customer service at your store. I was told to call the guest experience hotline and was not offered a resolution in store. I called the number, and Hansel at guest experience weakly apologized to me, did not offer any sort of assistance, and told me I am essentially at the mercy of the store manager of this location. This whole situation brought me to tears, and I am so sad that I was profiled and treated like a criminal. I work in asset protection in retail, and immediately knew how I was being treated was not ok. read more
