I stock up on their Jung Saem Mool cushion foundation - April 2026 @ $54 comes with refill. Store is a little cramped but I usually go in to get what I need and I get out. Parking is a beast at the Diamond Jamboree lot so try to get there during non rush hour times. They open late after 11am so a bit of a hassle if you're in a rush and crunched for time. I like coming here for their whitening skin care products, as well as serums for long luscious eyelashes. A lot of their products are in English and translated in Chinese characters. Maybe they need to include English translation as well. Small store packed with a lot of products. Only 1 cash register so you have to wait a long time to make your purchase. Okay so I'm a frequent customer. I did love it here, I really did. I came 1-2x a month to restock and maybe try some new recommendations from clerks-- usually spending about $100-200 per trip. I did really really love it here because the clerk I enjoy recommendations from seemed to actually have good accommodations and products she had her best experience with. She just seemed like someone with good, pure, clean intentions. I've always bought the products she recommended. They weren't amazing luxurious life changing products, but they were great at their price point-- as you can see, are not cheap. I didn't mind that. I came for months now since it's located conveniently for me as well. Today, I came at a different hour than I usually do. My favorite clerk was there! (Mid-long dark brown hair, clean and bright face, a little shy). I entered the store and did my walk to start picking things up. I got to the back where more of the canmake products were displayed. My usual (previously recommended by our innocent shy girlie) setting powder was missing. I picked up another canmake powder asking the clerk closes to me who was sitting at the register (long straight bleached dyed hair, pretty). And at first she said something along the lines of yeah that one works okay, pretty similar. So I thought nothing of it, since my favorite clerk was nice, her recommendations are probably going to hit the mark as well. So I was walking out and also still browsing at the eyelashes section, busy looking for mine. Bleached dyed girl came back and presented a big, very very big and pale gold box to me and says this one is even better. So I said okay sure. Mind you, in a technical sense, I guess this wouldn't be counted as coercive. But I get to the front with my stuff, she meets me there with my favorite clerk! As she was scanning, I wasn't paying attention to the price as I DID have a lot of trust for this store since my usual clerk had MY best interest in mind. It was fine. I glanced back once and notice it's jumped to the triple digits nearly $400 and I almost chuckled, this can't be MINE. I ladidaed for another second before something clicked and I turn back and checked the name of the products being scanned- Elegance. Nearly 220$ for the large compact. My eyes nearly fell out. I said this is 200$? She confirmed. I said uh it's a little expensive, she said there's a smaller one, but this one is double the product. I said no, I don't want this one. She grabbed me the smaller one. As you can see, it is 170$. A big difference. Still. Even as someone who previously did enjoy American makeup products, this is not the price point for any products without actually certified ancient beautiful serum. Or, gold idk. I just paid. Receipt was returned. I was nervously but also very very befuddled walking out for sure. Not an hour later, my friend and I confirmed it's best we have this returned even as points since I am a FREQUENT buyer. I checked the receipt as I got home, "NO REFUNDS ALLOWED." I called to confirm. Yes, no refunds will be allowed the moment your money is transferred. That being said, I love my innocent shy clerk, and I thank you for your assistance and also joy in the products you've recommended me. It's definitely a shame I won't be requesting for your help any longer, as this place will be losing my patronage. Just, make sure to know the prices. You won't be refunded no matter whether or not the product was unopened, it's still within the same day, no matter how often you come here. I'm disappointed. read more

Wow! I'm surprised to see such awful reviews here I only looked up the yelp page to share with a friend after I made a random visit here last week. I wasn't expecting to find a trove of Asian skincare, but immediately recognized some brands like beauty of joseon , anua, shesheido etc. I see a lot of reviews complaining about marked up prices, and admittedly I'd have to do my research on that. A lot of these products are only available online, so I can see how the conscience of being in store and not having to wait for shipping could cause the products to be a little bit more expensive. If there aren't any other local shops that offer these products, I can see myself coming back for sure to be a repeat customer. The reason for all the negative reviews? The heavily marked up prices. The experience? Pretty great actually. I had a really great experience here. We decided to try blind boxes & had trouble deciding what we wanted. I had never heard of hippers before but could tell at $35 dollars a box that it was definitely 3x the price. We still went ahead and got it & while excited, the cashier at the front decided to open one as well & offered to let us keep 2/3 of the pulls, which was super sweet of her. There's always a really small chance of getting a super secret rare which she pulled & my lovely date was able to take it with her! Thank you for your kindness and such a great experience, I'll forget the $75 we spent, but never forget the smile she had that day. That definitely made our night. I have also been here to buy shampoos & other products that generally I can only find in Japan overseas or really specific markets. Its crowded/tight space (don't go if you are claustrophobic), but has a lot of Japanese products and newer that are comparable price. It might depend on the item as some items were probably like $5 marked up, while others were comparable. I would come here if there is a niche Japanese item that is harder to find in the states, like acne medications as it is authentic. They do have some Korean products but a lot more expensive than Korean makeup stores. The workers will kind of periodically follow you around and offer you a basket or offer advice. They seem to work well with Chinese clientele. But they were nice. They had brands that are newer on the market, which smelled good. We were actually looking for a Coca Cola Happy Factor series. We no longer want to risk getting another blind box since we already bought three blind boxes and we are not getting the luck. We told the sales clerk, that we don't mind getting an open box. We asked if they can give us a call If they have one. They called us after, so went to the store immediately. We were told to go to the cashier since the item was there. It was the rude lady who hand us the Coca Cola series. We asked her if they have the box. She said in a rude fashion, "no we throw the box already". It was ok for us without a box. We asked if we can scan the item tag to make sure it's a legit pop mart item. As we always come here, we deal with Gina. She is the nicest and sweetest person. She helped us when we bought our two collector's item Labubus: Zimomo and Angel in the Cloud. We paid more than the regular price because they are hard to find. By that, it shows we don't care about the price as long as it's a real pop mart item. Gina agreed with us to scan the item before we paid for it. It was quite an amount of money. We paid $900 for the two. Looking for $40 Sonny Angels! This is your place! They have a great collection of average non-rare sonny's that go for "$50 on amazon" (direct quote from employee). Overall this place is small and cramped and has no prices on anything - when you get to the cashier and they ring you up for everything 50% above market price don't be alarmed for it is apparently the norm at this place. It's definitely a bit aged and much smaller in comparison to the other Takashima that I've been to, looking at the 2 story one in SGV and the larger one in Diamond Jamboree's counterpart, Diamond Plaza in Rowland Heights. You can find Japanese beauty, skincare, make up, health items, and snacks here, as well as some household goods, etc. It's nice to look through if you're waiting for your order or number or something in Diamond Jamboree nearby, but I guess with the other Takashima as comparison and even more so all of the Shibuya LA, which is much more modern and carries the same stock, if not more, makes this location just kinda meh. read more

I should have checked Yelp before coming here but who does that for a gift shop? Well, lesson learned. I would not recommend coming here unless it's an emergency and you need their items NOW. The staff are friendly and you can check out many Asian beauty items, but that's about where the positives end. The worst thing about this place is that they do not list their price; you need to go up to the register to ask, or you will find out when they ring you up. The next negative is the price. You can safely assume you'd be paying at least 2x what you'd pay at other stores, Amazon or otherwise. I strongly recommend that you check the online pricing before buying; it will save you from instant regret. Third, they will not issue a refund after the purchase is done, even if the item is not opened. I bought a lip balm, walked out of the store, friend showed me that I paid double, so I went back inside to get a refund. They said because lip balm is a personal care item (which is basically 90% of all of the items in the store), they cannot issue a refund but will honor an exchange because the item was not opened. It's like Ralphs telling you you cannot return your unopened shampoo because it's a personal care item. I tried to look for an exchange item, but it became too much of a hassle after having asked the price to the girl at the register 3 times. And each time, what I thought was about $10 was always over $20. After that, I realized I wasted too much time here, so I just walked out. The Takashima Irvine Store on Alton Parkway is a scam. Read the other reviews. They mark up the price on the store and have a non-refundable policy that is violating California Civil Code § 1723. I purchased a Prime Finished Power for $39.99 at the store only to noticed that I could have purchased it for half the price at other retailers. 7 minutes after my purchased, I alerted the clerk and they refused to refund my money. The Manager Linda acknowleged that they mark up the price but would not refund my money. DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE! You can get all the products for much less in other honest retail stores. read more

This store is a total ripoff. They're shamelessly gouging prices on Gundam kits that you can find anywhere else nearby for way less. We're talking $100 or more added to items that should be standard retail. Most of their stock is marked up 30 to 50 percent higher than what every other normal store charges. When I asked if they'd price match, they gave me some nonsense about not matching "warehouse prices," which is a flat-out lie. Those aren't discounted prices, that's just regular retail. My friends and I went to Takashima recently, and from the moment we walked in, we noticed two employees constantly watching us. They followed us around the store and kept staring at us, even though there were plenty of other people shopping at the same time who weren't being watched like that. When we left the store, they actually followed us outside and brought out another person to continue watching us. It made us feel extremely uncomfortable, like we were being profiled just because we look different or speak another language. We couldn't help but wonder--is it because we're people of color? ABSOLUTE SCAM. AVOID!! Purchased Velcro hair roller clips, Tsubaki hair mask, and a blackhead/acne gel here yesterday. I asked the girl who works there if the Tsubaki hair mask is better or the Fino one and she said the Tsubaki one is currently on sale for $14 and it's originally $30 something which is crazy cause Amazon is selling this product for around $13. The hair rollers were $19.99 there and only $5-6 online. The acne gel was $36.99 and about $15-16 online. The price gouging is insane and unethical as most things don't have prices. I didn't expect them to be Daiso prices but thought they'd be reasonable and even above average prices for a small store. I thought shopping locally would be better than buying through Amazon. I didn't realize the prices until I got home and checked. I was going to go back today to try to get a refund but after reading these reviews, it'll probably be a waste of my time. Never purchasing anything here again and I'm surprised they're still in business with the terrible reviews.
