It's not the best mall, but it gets the job done. It's probably more touristy, because it's right by the airport and there are the famous oversize cowboy boots that people like to take pictures in front of when they come to San Antonio. However it's not really that big of a mall. But they have enough stores for you to get what you need. I used to work here years ago, and this mall really doesn't change that much. They have the same restaurants in the food court which are Chick-fil-A, a Philly cheesesteak place, a Chinese place a Japanese place, and a Luciano's pizzeria, a subway and there are a couple of pretzel places and a few ice cream parlors. There's also a Cheesecake Factory and a Kona Grill restaurant here. This is a good mall to go to if it's either really hot outside like over 100°, or if it's raining, because it is all covered unlike mall, where it's all open air. However for the scenery, the nicer environment, and more high end options, you might want to go to La Cantera mall instead. read more

We decided to Mac the most of our time at the NorthStar Mall, by checking out MAC. The NorthStar in San Antonio can be a total zoo and there's always a lot of girls packed in here buying this high-end makeup, which some girls swear by and some girls swear against. We're not huge fans and we usually go to Ulta for a better variety from different companies. But this location is pretty cool just a lot busier than most. Speaking of busy, is your mother free for a date this weekend? And speaking of zoo - as Barbie said before - MAC has great makeup and some awesome collections, like the Mariah Carey and Selena collections. But they test on animals and they're not vegan. Just because it's expensive doesn't make it ethical. read more

Nice upscale mall in San Antonio, North Star is a great place to hang out and shop. Located near 410 and San Pedro in uptown SA is one of San Antonio's best malls. Amazing food court with lots of varies of eats. Several stores, shops and places to visit. You can easily spend the entire day at North Star mall. Just look for the huge pair of cowboy boots as you cruise along 410 to find to. It's hard to miss. read more

Handicap parking sucks here. They have lots of curbside and ev parking but the handicap is in the back of the parking lot. (This is over by Cheesecake Factory). Valet parking is even closer than the handicap. Something seems very wrong here. Guess I should have paid the $10 for valet so I didn't have to walk clear across the parking lot. I'm kind of surprised by the reviews on Yelp for this MAC store but must share my experiences as well. I'm Not sure if it's Just a few Negative Nancy's on Yelp posting but I thought today's experience was noteworthy... I've been wearing MAC as well as other cosmetics for over 20 years and stopped in today to exchange my Back to MAC products.. Back to MAC rewards customers for returning 6 empty containers with a lipstick or eyeshadow (some lines are excluded). As I walked around Northstar, I realized that it had been a minute since I visited this store which was good because I do try to avoid MAC due to my incurable addiction to makeup and it does get Pricey up in Here $$$$ I will add that I love the recent remodel and was immediately greeted by a clerk even though the store was packed. I wish I had asked my associate's name to show her love on Yelp but she was attentive and knew exactly what I was looking for. I also appreciate that MAC allows you to return make up within 30 days and remains competitive to stores like Sephora and the many counters in Macys. The make up artist faces are Always 'Beat' ( code for Fierce/Flawless ) and I know that my Face will be on Fleek ( more slang for Flawless) ... I had a great experience at this store after failing to find the service I wanted at Sephora. The makeup assistant was so sweet, genuine and worked really hard to find the right concealer to cover up my tattoo. She was creative! She thought to use tape and makeup combination and tried it three or four different ways! They all worked well. I forget her name unfortunately, but she has bright red dyed hair, half sleeve, cat eye eyeliner and a very pretty face and figure! She wears a beanie type of hat too. Thank you so much for helping me if you are reading this! She is also a concealer guru. Quickly finding for me the right shade along with translucent MAC "prep + prime finishing powder" to set it. I ended buying a beauty sponge ( I use either that or my fingers to apply the concealer) and a normal compact "MAC studio fix." I spent over 90 dollars and it was all worth it. This is the best coverage of my small hand tattoo (I have to cover for work) that I have ever had and it stays on long without fading. It doesn't smear either. The concealer is perfect. I am also a big fan of the prep and prime finishing white powder. It is key to the cover up process and I'm so glad my makeup assistant introduced me to it. I will not go without it ever again. M.A.C. simply has great quality products with quality customer service to match. I wish I could give this location a 0. I'm From Dallas and walked into the store to make an appointment Bc I previously called the wrong location. I asked the male worker when was the next time available. He told me 3pm I walked around and came back at 3. Then a manager came out and told me to come back in an hour. Today was probably one of the last times I'll visit this location. As another reviewer has mentioned, the employees are not eager to help you unless you have full makeup on or fit a certain "look". I came in well dressed, and with light day makeup (all MAC). I'm 33 weeks pregnant, so wanted to search for some new interesting colors before the baby arrives. I watched other women (with more makeup on) walk into the store and get good service, but it was like pulling teeth trying to get assistance with the eyeshadows/color selection. I found the employee that did acknowledge me to be rude, bored and irritated with my questions. So tired of this tragically dated makeup line. I was a loyal customer for years. In the past year, I have diversified my makeup collection by trying several different and better brands. I went in recently to find an item. The artist who helped me has zero knowledge of the product line. She also lacked any kind of personality or customer service. I also don't understand why, at this particular store, you have to wait for any kind of help no matter how many people are in the store. Finally, most of the artists who work here are basically slathering on clown makeup. Different looks can be fun, but sometimes people just want a look for a desk job. I had an appointment here at 2pm to have my make up done. I looked online and saw it was a 50 dollar minimum purchase. I called to book it and the gentleman on the phone also reminded me it would be 50 dollars. When I got there, I waited for several minutes before being greeted. I was then passed on from one employee to the next, each giving me the look of being completely inconvenienced by my being there. Finally, the girl who originally greeted me said she would do my make up. When I sat down, she told me it would be a 75 dollar minimum purchase. I told her that I was told 50. She leaves and a few minutes later, the manager comes to tell me it is 75 dollars on New Years Eve. I left. Being passed around and then being told I had to spend more than I was planning was enough for me. They knew what day my appointment was (12/31) and should have let me know about the price change. Terrible workers! If I go in there with makeup on I'll get plenty of help. If I go in there with no makeup on I will get ignored. Last time I was in there I was makeup free and had my 14 month son with me. He was acting fine absolutely happy yet I couldn't get anyone to help me. Reps would help other people walking in the door but completely ignore me. I started just approaching the employees and some just looked at me and said "we're out of that" without checking. Another lady said "I have a client I can't help you" even though she was no where near the application area. Finally got help and then that person never came back with my item and instead said "it'll be at the front" and walked away. Ugh. I love MAC, but this store is just bad with helping customers. I don't know what it is about me that they don't like, but I can't seem to get anyone to help me. 99% of the time I end up waiting in line for the register, then telling the employee what to grab for me. Although the last time I came in, after browsing for five or so minutes, a lady comes up to me "What can I get for you?" (In a rushed tone of voice). "Anything else?" (In a "hurry up" tone).
