I was able to make an appointment directly through yelp for makeup services with Amelia, Johanna was very accommodating with getting me an appointment first thing in the morning.. the salon itself is nestled towards the back of the lot off Broadway and is super cute and cozy inside, just the right amount of chic and shabby. All of the staff was friendly and Amelia took me right on time and was done in less than an hour. Amelia came highly recommended for her color skills! So I booked an appointment 2 weeks in advance (her schedule was wide open)for a color touch up with Amelia for a HUGE HUGE work event . Amelia then tried to cancel on me not once but TWICE! The first time she sent me a text stating "I'm sorry I don't like to work past 7:00pm, so I can't do your color at that time. Can you reschedule for an earlier time?". Now remember her books were open and had the latest availability for the color service at 5:15pm with Amelia. Her Books still show the latest is 5:15 any-day for color with her. I decided to forfeit the blow dry and style if it meant being able to get my color done in time for this event. She agreed and said she would take me still. Fast forward a few days later.. I get ANOTHER TEXT from Amelia and here's what it said this time: "Hey girl I'm sorry but On Friday my owner decided to have the Xmas party for our salon that evening. I'm soooo sorry she just told me and I won't be able to do your color that evening afterall. I'll discount your next service 10% if you want to and reschedule for a different day". 10%?! 10% on a service that was going to cost me around $400.00 including a tip? 10% for your absolute lack of professionalism? 10% when your books still show you are available for a color service STILL that day and the latest being 5:15pm. 10% when I now have to scramble and find someone else to do the service for the big event?! I even sent some co workers prior to my appointment and they had their color done with her as well. They said the color came out great. There was however lack of professionalism, they asked her if she wanted coffee, she said yes please, a stylist then said "I hope the coffee maker actually works this time" then left her in their back room alone for a long period of time until Amelia came to get her (late) to begin her service. Which by the way was also rescheduled by Amelia because she doesn't work past 7:00pm even though her books clearly state she does. read more

I had a formal ball to go to last night and the salon I was scheduled with for over a month called me the morning of my ball and canceled me. My wife was looking for a place to have her makeup done prior to a gala/birthday party. She was also interested in having her hair styled (I believe the term is blow-out) and a manicure/pedicure as well. Initially in planning these events, she was thinking she would have to go to three different places and do a good bit of travelling. I read Johanna's outstanding reviews and decided to give her a call -- at this point it was fairly short notice, and I didn't expect much. She answered right away and within 5 minutes was able to book my wife for all three services at the Heights Salon on Broadway, where she shares space with the other stylists from The Heights. I was thrilled! Over the course of the next day or so, I needed to firm up details with Johanna, and honestly, I was less than available due to a crazy schedule and meetings. Johanna was extraordinarily patient with me and getting everything straightened out was accomplished not only by phone but also by text. I LOVE when businesses are easy to text with. As far as the actual experience goes... I'll leave that to my wife to review separately, but I can tell you that she loved every minutes of the treatment she got there.
