Had a sticking key. Went to Apple.com to get a genius bar appointment and decided instead to specifically go out of my way to try to help out a local business. I could not have been more clear with them that if Applecare didn't cover it I could not afford to have any work done. They tried to charge me a $59 "diagnostic fee" when I dropped it off and I AGAIN reiterated that if it was not covered it would not be fixed. The owner asked if it had been wet and I told her straight up "maybe" She said "ok give us a day or two and we'll see what we can do." I dropped in off first thing in the morning on a Wed. THREE days later she calls me up Friday evening at 5:15 and said that the water sensor was tripped and it would be $200 to fix it. I said sorry but no, as I told you... She then cut me off and frankly I think tried to steer the conversation very deceitfully by saying "well then it will just be the $59 fee we discussed ok? I said: "no, it is not ok." At which point, she completely lost her sh*t and said "pick up your laptop on Monday and don't ever bring us any more computers" and hung up on me. As many others have stated: "snotty" Now, "normally" a company like Apple, pays lowball 'book rate' for warranty work. We all understand this. Personally I "suspect" that she was trying to 'double dip' and take a $8 (or whatever) evaluation fee from Apple *AND* $59 from me, for doing literally nothing. But before she replies trying to explain why she's right and is "sorry she didn't meet expectations" (again!) let me just point out that *if* Apple is stiffing them; it's still not the Customer's fault and the bottom line is that if you take a machine here for warranty work they will try to charge you a fee you otherwise will not pay. So instead of bringing a computer here I recommend putting it in the Webber; dousing it with lighter fluid and setting it on fire. Frankly the odds you will get back in working order are about the same, but at least you won't pay $60 and wait five days for the privilege of her telling you "it's charred." And lady... Aren't you tired of having to explain on yelp why you are so misunderstood? Wouldn't it just be simpler and easier to not pick fights with people in the first place? You're shady AF. Don't be "sorry for failing to meet expectations." Just be Better. read more

Update: Received a phone call from Jennifer. She told me that MOR will now be sure to advise clients that they may not be able to replace a battery with a broken screen. Better yet, they are now offering screen fixes. Nice Save! I'm less then impressed. I made an appointment to get my phone battery replaced. What they neglected to tell me when scheduling my appointment was they could not replace my battery if my screen was cracked. Seems like that would have been a good question to ask. Though they have some good reviews my experience was not one of them. I've tried to use these guys a couple of times as was met with nothing but roadblocks and a bad attitude. Their hours are not convenient and seem to only serve them. Their service is slow and they outright lied to me about what was wrong with my laptop so that they could increase the cost. My power adapter had a 2mm tear in the strain relief and they said, "This could cause the computer to charge improperly and damage it; would you like to replace it?" Are you serious? If you need your computer fixed or serviced, I'd try Reno Computer Fix instead. You'll be glad that you did as they are superior in every way. read more

My new MacBook Pro wouldn't turn on this morning and I leave for school for three months on Saturday and Apple lead me to them and Danny was amazing. He took care of me right away and understood I was in a crisis. Really appreciate them caring and taking the extra step to see me and my laptop. Went out for a simple screen replacement for my iPhone XR and there web sight quoted $150. Went over and they said that my phone was completely dead and needed full replacement...I mean what a joke. Sure the phone was not charged but when they said it would cost 400 to replace I was in shock. Not even 3 minutes after charging in my week car charger it was already at 15%. After this I called to let them know and to double check screen pricing. They said 200 plus 25 in labor. Apple will charge 200 for authentic screen replacement. On top of this after repeating my name 5 times they continued to call me by a name other than my own. Horrible customer service. Go elsewhere. read more

If I could give Mac-O-Rama 10 stars I would! There are not enough amazing things I could say about this locally owned and family operated business. A few months back I came in with an emergency like no other, I had accidentally dropped my external hard drive with ALL MY FOOTAGE and files on it for work. I'm a freelance videographer and editor and this was a huge catastrophe. I thought my files were backed up on the cloud but alas, no luck. I rushed to Mac-O-Rama in tears and the lovely woman at the front desk consoled me and really made me feel like they were going to do all they could to help retrieve all my files. They were quick and understanding and knew how much these files meant to me and my clients. Long story short I was lucky enough that they by some miracle retrieved the all the files after letting my hard drive run over night and transfer EVERYTHING. I know it was a combination of luck and timing that they could even help me but their professionalism and knowledge was overwhelming. Most of the time you have to send data retrieval issues like this out of state. Mac-O-Rama will forever be my go to for computer and hard drive needs. I wanted to support the small retailer and went to MacORama. They misdiagnosed my computer and ordered me a part i did not need. After the part came in I told them about the issue and they asked me to come back in for inspection. When I arrived, they had already sent the part back and charged me a restocking fee to do so claiming they couldn't keep any inventory of such items. I felt offended on both visits with the owner. Took Mac book pro in- running slow and had lots of spinning beach balls- technical term. They upgraded the hard drive and ram. Problem continued, spinning balls and slow booting. We are from out of town and went to the Apple store with an issue. We didn't have 1.5 hours to wait to just talk to someone so they sent us to Mac-O-Rama. Apple refers to our laptop as "vintage." That is a polite way of saying "that sucker is old." First thank Apple for the recommendation - you do look out for your customers. Everyone at Mac-O-Rama was so friendly but friendly doesn't always fix computers. Well, they were a 10+ on customer service and 10+ on the work as they fixed our issue as we waited. I found Mac-O-Rama through a friend when I had issues with my Mac a couple years ago. The Apple store was not able to offer me a reasonable time frame or price to fix my laptop. Mac-O-Rama, on the other hand, did. My laptop worked fantastic for a couple more years until I regrettably spilt water on it. The staff at Mac-O-Rama were so accommodating, efficient, patient and kind while helping me figure out my next step after they confirmed that I had, in fact, drowned my computer. My boyfriend and I went here last week to repair an old MacBook he found laying around. The trackpad was raised, computer wouldn't turn on, and we had the wrong power adapter. Thank god for this shop! Owner was super sweet and had our product fixed, functional, and looking brand new in a few days. They fixed the trackpad, replaced the old battery, ran a diagnostic and fixed the OS, and provided us with a new charger. All for only a few hundred dollars, which is nothing compared to buying a new MacBook Pro! I had this company fix my MacPro after my evil cat knocked a glass of water onto it. They did a good job fixing the laptop. So far so good. The only complaint I have is that it took a really long time. I dropped it off in July. They have an estimate to me really quickly but when I told them to go ahead and repair the computer it took them a few weeks to get it back to me. I do understand these things take time but over a month was a little long if you ask me. I would use them again but just make sure I wasn't in a hurry. Also, I sent a couple of email to Cal and she didn't reply to them so I had to call and leave a voicemail. Once I did that she responded quickly. read more

I really don't want to give a local business a bad review but I feel so cheated with experience. I am under warranty with Apple. Instead of waiting for an appointment at the Genius Bar, I took an earlier appointment and went to Mac-O-Rama because they do warranty repairs. First, it was an unorganized mess. It took 45 minutes for the receptionist to put my name into a computer. Second, my computer has been held hostage because they tech is so backed up they can't run a diagnostic. I get a phone call that they can't duplicate my issue (no problem) and now I have to pay for an additional diagnostic fee (in addition to what they are charging Apple with my warranty coverage) because they looked at my software to diagnose my hardware issues. I understand that they did the work, but $200 to uninstall a program is bananas. I just feel so taken advantage of. Their business hours are tough for working people so another day is going to go by before I can go get my computer. I don't recommend this place. I will stick to using Apple. read more
