This seemed like it would be a better place for take-out, rather than dine-in, but we were there and sat down. I like the menu options. I decided on Tuscan Chicken Mac and enjoyed it very much. Both of the other people I was having dinner with got the Meatball Mac which they too enjoyed, but one was served in a to-go bag. In fact all of the plates are served in the same foil platter but if you dine-in it comes sitting in a hot pan. They don't have silverware, everyone gets the plasticware whether you stay or go. Seeing how there were a few delivery drivers waiting, others would agree it is a got to-go spot. I had the OG mac and cheese. I'll admit. I'm basic and grew up on Kraft Mac N Cheese. I didn't want a bunch of extra stuff in it. It was. . .decent. You can taste the wood fire in it but it was, despite all the cheese, a little bland. It was weirdly oily and kind of dry at the same time. I hit it with sriracha and that definitely elevated it. Other types my table tried were the Greek Freak and the Tuscan. Everyone raved about that one so maybe those extra ingredients are what's needed in order to get the whole fancy macaroni and cheese experience. The staff were super nice and accommodating. The restaurant itself was clean but the restroom was a little on the not-so-fresh side. It's a gender neutral restroom which is always a super cool thing to see. I plan on going back. I want to try the jalapeno cornbread and some of the flat breads. Not gonna lie, though, it adds up quick and with a group of three or so it can easily turn into an $80 experience and I still have a little trouble reconciling that with the fact that it's mac and cheese. read more

It has been a running joke between my husband and I that this restaurant would never open. We lived in the building for 3 years and in that time they were always under construction so we really didn't know if it was going to work out. We moved out recently and it seemed like right when we left, they finally opened! Of course, now we HAD to go check it out. We came in today during their grand opening and I have to say I was really impressed. The atmosphere was really nice, the artwork/decor on the walls were inviting, and I liked that we have a view into the kitchen. I ordered the Tuscan Chicken Mac and my husband got the Buffalo Chicken Mac. We also shared an order of the Mac-Ting which was essentially their take on poutine. My first impression of the mac was that the portions were huge! Definitely would have been able to share one order with someone else. Their prices do reflect their portion sizes, so while I felt like it was a little pricey I do feel like you are getting plenty of food for it. I really enjoyed the mac though. Both mine and my husbands were delicious! The wood oven leaves the tops bubbling and crispy while the mac underneath is super creamy and decadent. The Mac-ting was pretty good too! Next time, I definitely want to try the meatball mac or just the normal mac. I also think it's really great that they have vegan options and have their own house made vegan cheese sauce. Definitely something that I will want to try in the future. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at mac shack today! The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious. I recommend coming when you're good and hungry because you will have plenty to eat! Finally open! I have been waiting for quite some time and I was not disappointed. I consider myself a Mac head, like a crack head but for Mac. I ordered a 3 LIL COWS to try more flavors, I did get it to go but it didn't seem to impart the dishes. The three pastas I tried were, Tuscan Mac, Meatball Mac, and the Greek Freak. Tuscan was my favorite, the meatball was very creamy and the Greek was a little rich for my liking. Definitely enough food for 2-3 people. Overall great atmosphere and great food. I look forward to seeing how they grow in the coming years. read more

It's overly slow. Please stop saying Covid is the excuse. I can tell that this place has potential but lacks experience or employees truly trained to meet the demand of Brady St. Give it a try, but just know that if you want some delicious Mac, it won't be the place to get it quickly, and especially late night. There was no line when I arrived. The approx wait time for Mac is about 20-30 minutes. It's unfortunate but that's just how it is currently. Hopefully there's room for improvement in the future. I don't think they will stay open as Brady St is a fast paced environment and the critics are relentless. I won't be back and I recommend trying this once. read more

If you're a fan of MACs and trying this restaurant in hopes it's of the same quality/comprable, skip it. Spent around $40 for two regular size Mac n cheeses - the BBQ Mac and Elote Mac. While the shredded chicken on the BBQ Mac was moist, everything else was dry. It looked as though they put plain noodles on the bottom and sprinkled shredded cheese on top before baking it - nothing cheesy or gooey about it. The elote Mac was the same in regards to flavor and lack of cheesiness, and it didn't have much corn topping. If you're in the mood for mac n cheese and thinking of trying this place, I recommend skipping and just buying a box of Kraft Mac n cheese from the store instead. read more

We went tonight for the first time and loved it! The food is delicious and they give nice portion sizes. The staff, and I mean all of them, from the people taking your order to the kitchen staff are super nice and hospitable. The kitchen staff even came out on multiple occasions to check in with us. Its nice to see and interact with the people who actually cook your food! The front staff gave us a free family brownie with ice cream on top and man was it delicious and the front lady was really great with the kid and interacted with him on multiple occasion.
