I have had their Ruben sandwich before it was not the best I ever had but it was good. On October 23, 2025 I was driving by the restaurant and decided to stop and get another Ruben sandwich. There was a lady at the door getting ready to lock the door. I asked her why was she locking the door? She said they close at 10 PM I said good it's 9:44 PM I still have time. She let me in while I was waiting for someone to take my order I was ignored. Some of the stuff was hanging around doing nothing. Then I seen the lady who let me in say something to another lady and she came and told me the store was closed. I had been waiting for someone to take my order for 5 minutes and then I'm told the store is closed when I finally get some help. Oh and that is not it she walked away and never came back. I'm still there waiting so I wave for the lady who let me in to come over because I standing here in shock. I asked her what just happened are you going to take my order or what? It doesn't take long to make another sandwich. She told me they were closed and walked away also. I have never been treated this bad in my life that I can remember, I was ignored and they just walk away. Is it part of their job description to ignore people when they don't want to do the work? The place looks really nice on the outside well light and that was the reason it caught my eye. But I will not be going back, I'll try Mae Velma's I might get better customer service there. read more

Recently once at the house of corn beef and I actually really loved it the first day I did Uber eats and I got fries with my corn beef and it was so good. I love seasoning fries so I really did enjoy them. I went back again before I left and this time I actually went in to order it. The facility was really clean and the service was great and the food was pretty quick so I do enjoy how quick the food came out and that it was hot and still just as good as it was the day before I go back because they were the really good with the portion sizes next time I do plan on trying the fries and corn beef that sounded so good until next time. read more

I didn't stop in. Someone stopped in for me, so I can't comment on service. I can comment on the food. Regular corned beef on toasted bread and brown mustard. Delicious. Very lean. The food was good because it was cooked by someone who came to actually work & not get brownie points... Like WTF!!! I only ordered 2 sandwiches. I ordered right away. All women supposed to be working today 7/24/25 @ 3:44pm but many orders sitting ready for pick up getting cold while they all including they "moma" Talking bout baby daddies. this place has gone completely down hill. There was once a time when the food was fresh and plentiful. Today I ordered a large fry and a gym shoe. I literally got 3 paper thin strips of corn beef and they looked dry a small heap of Italian beef meet and 4 strips of gyro meat, yes i picked the entire sandwich apart to look at it. I have more onions and bread than anything. then i paid 359 for a large fry and got a fry the size of a Mc Donald's value fry. The service was poor cause i repeatedly asked for 2 sandwiches and the cashier repeated the order and still only rung up 1 which by the way my food turned out im happy she did. i am beyond upset and this will be the last time i visit this place i waited all week to treat myself to this and i am beyond perturbed. i wish i could give them zero stars because thats what they deserve! read more

Visited Friday,St Patrick weekend. Corn beef wasn't on the menu. I had to ask for it. Didn't understand that, anyway, I ordered one corn-beef sandwich and it took approximately 15 min. There was no where for customers to sit, only stand around waiting. I was disappointed when I ate it at home because it had a lot of fat on it that wasn't cut off, hardly any mustard, somewhat dry and the pickle was stale, tasted like grease. Paid $15.40, NEVER AGAIN! On a positive note, the ladies taking orders were nice. That's why they got one star! read more

I have been to House of Corned Beef for several years, even before they moved the business. The corned beef and pastrami is just like Jake's Deli, and is first rate. The staff, however, especially up front, has problems. Today I ordered two lbs of pastrami and a Reuben sandwich. I was told they had only 1.5 lbs. which I assumed would cost 50 percent of the pound. Instead they charged me over 60 percent, another 4.50 (approx). The place is not in a nice neighborhood, and it seems forever for them to prepare an order, but until today I looked past that and focused on the food. When I explained that 32.99 plus 16.50 is the appropriate charge when that's all they had, instead of 32.99 plus 20.99. She had all pool ready rung it up but I do not feel right being taken advantage of, as a regular customer. Indeed, I offered several options. Charge me appropriately for the pastrami. (32.99 plus 16.50), add another half pound (they lied about not having two pounds) and charge me an addition 12.00, or refund my order and I will leave and boycott the place. Having spent many hundreds of dollars there, just this year, apparently doesn't matter to them. It's too bad because the food is good but that seems to be inconsequential at this point. read more

I love supporting local businesses. This has to be some of the WORST try hard corned beef I've ever had. Sure it's lean but the other half is brown and gross!!! -- they cook the hell out of it so it's seemingly lean, but zero flavor, dry as hell, and even worse sides/accompanies; like cheap bread, mustards, kraut, and cheese. The absolute rudest bitch answered my call when I called to complain for a charge that was made from credit card on a day that I hadn't even gone in the store!!!!!! Yep you read that right, so supposedly their system was down between August and sometime in September. Again we are all aware of today's date..so a $21 and some change showed up on my statement. I called and the one person that couldn't have explained the situation any worse than she did. Her attitude, her demeanor, her customer service, excuse me lack of- her, she, lady... whichever pronouns would be feasible enough to equate that to service was terrible. Obviously if people are calling, or you were instructed ahead of time, then maybe a short lesson in customer etiquette would suffice in her horrible service. I absolutely love corned beef and was pretty eager to try this place out when I saw the location being built. I have eaten corned beef at Delis all over the country so I know what I'm talking about when it comes to good corned beef. So let me tell you this- the corned beef was delicious. If that's all you care about, move on and go give this place a try. If, however, you also care about being able to send your kids to college, make rent, or not get your lights turned off you may want to reconsider heading to House of Corned Beef- because the prices here are so inflated that I think my voice changed as if I had a helium tube stuck up my backside and turned on full blast. My extra lean corned beef sandwich was 12 (yes, 12) dollars and had about enough corned beef to satisfy a skinny 8 year old who doesn't eat much. The bread was store bought rye, and the "chips" it came with could literally be counted on two hands how many were there (8, there were 8 of them). Honestly I haven't felt this cheated since tax season, and it is actually pretty insulting that this amount of food can be served for this much money. I've driven past House of Corned Beef several times since moving to the area and when I knew we would be passing it yet again on our way home I decided it was time to stop. My husband said this was going to go one of two ways: it's terrible or it's great. Well, it was great. The cashier was friendly and walked us through what to expect from their corned beef sandwich, offered up how she would order it, and was overall friendly and polite. We opted to for two corned beef sandwiches with yellow mustard and pepper Jack cheese. Delicious. I think this is the meanest corned beef I've ever had. I'm actually not a huge yellow mustard fan so I would order it with brown mustard next time but this is a great sandwich. I'm looking forward to trying other items on the menu on what I'm sure will be many return trips. read more

February 4 I went to the House Of Corn Beef and ordered for chicken wings. The wings were terrible. They were old had all the breakthrough bloody veins in them. I chose to get chicken wings because I felt like they could not mess up them because I noticed that there was an Iranian now owning the business. I was afraid to order the corn beef I was thinking they didn't know how to prepare it like the previous back on owners. I also noticed you can never get them on the phone to either place an order or to respond back with them about your order like these bad chicken wings so I'm out of seven dollars and some $.50 unless I take this box of nasty wings back to them and show them back. I ordered for delivery. Extra charge of $5. Ok. Food came when promised and reasonably warm. Just disappointing that the $5 delivery fee wasn't added on at the end. I found this place entirely by accident. It is down the street from my new job. I love a good corned beef sandwich and had to try it. Turns out they have a lot more than just corned beef. They have pastrami, fried chicken, pizza puffs, gyros, all of the Chicago staples. I have gotten the corned beef and pastrami sandwich, the reuben, the pizza puff, and fries. Unlike a lot of delis they offer a grilled option for all sandwiches, as well as cheese. The meat is thick cut and lean and better quality than I expected. They dont pile the sandwiches high the way NYC delis do but it's enough. The fries are good. The pizza puff is standard issue. On one visit, they forgot the fries, and it turns out hadnt charged us for them. It took some figuring to determine what happened but eventually gave us fries free of charge. Definitely will be a go to place near my work. read more

Corned beef sandwiches in Milwaukee can be analyzed from a variety of angles: fatty, dry, salty, bland, crumbly, costly, etc. (over against the positive designations of the same). HCB has it right on most of those, however, the real plus is nice slices of corned beef. I've complained before of places like McBob's which gives you chopped corned beef that falls out of the sandwich when you try to eat it. The only negative is that even the cheapest sandwich at HCB is on the expensive side at $10.46. (Higher than the best competitors.) You can pay extra to have all the fat cut off, but you risk getting dry meat if you do. HCB is very good. Worth checking out. read more

This place use to be a destination for me,but their rueben sandwiches were the best around!!! What lacks in service is made up by their food. This place lives up to its name in every way. Keep in mind, the people working here are good people. Prices has gone up since i first started coming here and it just might be me but the food portion might have shrunken too, but don't let that deter you too much. The food here is still great, they really do live up to their restaurant name. House of Corned Beef has some of the best corned beef sandwiches in Milwaukee. Despite what I think as their food serving size shrinking, it still manages to fill me up, so I can't complain too much. Service is friendly and good, and its just like the way i like it; you get in, you order, you receive said order, and you leave. No hubbub about it. Never have to wait long before they take my order, and food gets out at a decent rate too. Even during peak times, your food still manage to get out in a reasonable time frame. Stopped in this morning for lunch as we were driving by. we ordered 2 corned beef sandwiches, The service was excellent, each sandwich was piled with corned beef enough for 2 meals. You want corned beef... Like you had growing up, stop in and indulge in amazing corned beef. the biggest problem I had was chewing my food long enough because it's great. The pickle is fresh and tastes traditional. Rye bread was fresh and delicious... I was concerned because I saw rows of white bread in the back but in telling you . I went to the location on Silver Spring so I have no comments on the location on the east side but in 'premiere' locations in a city our size or anywhere for that matter you pay for convenience and location.
