Let me state that I am a regular visitor to the dentist. I've never been afraid of going to the dentist so I take part in twice a year visits. Next, let me state that I have known the two main dentists here for many years, and they are exceptional people. Very kind, warm, friendly, and honest. I have trust in them as people as much as I have trust in them as my providers. Drs Kevin and Jodie Morich are amazing humans! The clinic itself is located in a historic building called the water tower. They recently updated their space and it is very modern and clean. There are murals close to the ceiling that are absolutely spectacular. As you would expect, the space looks very sterile and intentional about Keeping things as sanitary as possible. One of the best parts about this clinic is that they have three therapy dogs and a therapy tortoise. If you want, they will have one of the dogs sit in your lap during your exam with the dentist. Call for an appointment now since they're booked out a few months!! Also, your call is answered by a human (imagine that!). Initially I had to make two (one for XR and exam and another for cleaning) since I'm a new patient, but luckily they were able to take me off the waitlist later on and I had both appointments on the same day. Today was my first visit and it was so smooth. The office is very modern with water and coffee (or tea?) in the lobby. Facilities are clean. My hygienist was Olya, who explained every step and was thorough in her cleaning. She also answered a bunch of questions so by the time the dentist came to examine me I had none left. She also booked my next appointment while we had some downtime which expedited my checkout. I would definitely recommend seeing her! And they accept OHSU dental insurance! read more

I was a patient here for 3-4 years, and convenience was the main reason I stayed. Unfortunately, my overall experience eventually led me to look elsewhere. X-rays were taken at many of my visits, including some visits that were close together and included routine cleanings, and I often felt that additional services were being recommended rather than my concerns being fully discussed. Last week, I scheduled an appointment because of tooth/gum discomfort. The examination lasted only 2-3 minutes, and the dentist did not ask me any questions about my symptoms, pain. He told me that I had a crack and needed another X-ray before he would do anything further. I asked whether the crack was visible on my previous X-ray, which had been taken only 6-8 months earlier, and it was. When I declined another X-ray, he shut down the conversation, would not provide treatment or even a brief conversation about my symptoms. I understand that X-rays and other imaging can sometimes be medically necessary, what I sought through this appointment was a conversation about my symptoms, findings, and my treatment options. Instead, I felt dismissed and rushed and bullied. Throughout my time there, I often felt that the dentist spent the least amount of time possible with me. I felt more like a customer than a patient. I received excellent care while at Macadam Dental, but I am extremely disappointed with their handling of my credit balance. After switching insurance and requesting a refund for the amount owed, I was told I would receive a check by mid-January. It is now mid-February, and despite multiple follow-ups, the check has not been issued. It is unacceptable for a practice to require immediate payment for services while delaying refunds for months. I called to make an appointment in September and was told that the only openings they had were in February 2022. I wasn't in a hurry o see a dentist, so I accepted the date. A couple of months later, I noticed that I had not received a man email confirmation. I reached out to them and was told that my appointment was never booked and that the next appointment would be in June 2022. This mistake was attributed to a "change/shortages" in staffing. If this is any indication of their customer service, im glad that I don't have to deal with them anytime soon. read more

I got charged $160 and took up two hours of my time for a single x-Ray. Didn't even x-Ray my whole mouth. And it' was digital, so no developing photos overhead costs. They just thought taking three more pics with a digital camera was too much extra effort I guess. There is a such thing as referral pain. Just because the pain was in my top right quadrant doesn't mean my mouth didn't maybe have other issues. Everybody was polite though. Just the charge wasn't at all commensurate to the work received. read more

In this life, we are fortunate to ever find a dentist that we truly like, and Dr. Morich is the second dentist I have absolutely loved going to see. Full disclosure, I don't have the best teeth and having a good dentist is very important to me. The entire staff is always very pleasant, efficient, and well trained and competent. Dr. Morich (Kevin, I have not met his wife who also practices at this clinic) is a wonderful listener, a terrific dentist, and a very knowledgeable practitioner. And while I enjoy many things about this clinic, my favorite thing is that they have a machine that can make a crown while you wait. NO MORE TEMPORARY CROWNS! This is worth the price of admission alone, but the whole experience is truly one of the best in the field. read more

This review is for the veneers that I got at Macadam Dental. I encourage everyone to go elsewhere for cosmetic dentistry. First, let me start by saying I had veneers for 20 years and never had a problem even once. They never came off, and always felt like real teeth. I ate apples and carrots with no concern. I went to Macadam Dental to replace my 20 year old veneers, it was simply time to replace them as veneers usually last for 10-15 years. In the year I have had the new ones, one tooth has come off twice. Both times, while eating soft food (tofu and then soft pizza). They feel like air is passing through, they don't feel sturdy at all. I am scared to eat, to brush my teeth, to do anything. I am losing weight and have to order soup when I go out to eat for fear something will happen at a restaurant. The first time the veneer came off, I went in to get it re-bonded and Macadam Dental charged me $300 for a 15 minute fixing appointment. I paid nearly $5000 for the veneers in the first place. I could not believe it when I got the bill. This is traumatic enough and shouldn't happen, how awful. Not only that, they blamed ME, saying I should wear a mouth guard at night. I am sorry, but can I remind you about my 20 years of veneers never coming off? My sleeping habits have not changed. This is NOT how good veneers feel, I should know after 20 years. The second time they came off I went to another dentist to bond again. You know what a brand new place charged me? $200. That is $100 less for someone else fixing it. I am now going to a veneer specialist to get a full and careful look at why this is happening. I don't have any trust in Macadam to tell the truth about the reason for this. I have $500 in bills for re-bonding on top of paying the initial sum. This is a total nightmare that is disrupting my life, and causing me depression and inability to even eat. I am scared to travel for fear they come off while away. These are my front teeth and I work in sales, I can't have them come off like this. read more

I have just moved to Portland from the east coast and decided that I would give this practice a try due to their proximity to my new home and the consistently great reviews they had received. Over the last few days before I had a chance to set up a first visit, I developed a toothache which escalated overnight. I called the office when they opened at 7:30am and even though I was not yet a patient in the practice they responded immediately and I was in a dental chair in front of Dr. Jodi by 7:50am even though the office was really crowded by the time I got there. The care I got from Dr. Jodi was thoughtful and explained in detail as if she had all the time in the world. As I left I heard her apologizing to her next patient for being late due to another patient with a dental emergency...that was me. I have been a medical doctor for over thirty years and I can recognize good care and the compassion it takes to disrupt the office schedule at the very start of the day for a complete stranger. I was impressed with the care I received and the overall friendly vibe of the office. I will certainly be coming back with my family for all of our regular care. read more

When it comes to medical professionals, I always want to note that I have wicked anxiety, so that when I say the medico was awesome, the full weight is known. I cannot possibly describe how amazing this place, and this dentist, is. The office itself is very spacious and well-designed. Every assistant I have interacted with has been pleasant and helpful, and not solicitous* or condescending in the least. This helps tremendously, as assistants make the office. (* Noted bias: I don't like it when people ask after me every five minutes. The capacity to both be available and not be intrusive is a rare quality.) Dr. Morich himself is incredibly kind. He is gentle, yet (again) not condescending. It's surprisingly easy to tell him what's going on because he never judges. Allow me to say this again: he never judges. Not in my experience. If you have even the slightest whiff of anxiety, dentist-specific or otherwise, you would do well to come here. His primary importance is the client's well-being, and he includes emotional composure in this. Once, he offered to reschedule and give me a scrip for an anti-anxiety med, because I was so nervous. He seems to genuinely prefer giving good dental service. He also gives options for various procedures before he starts them, and is honest about the pros and cons of each. As odd as it is to say, I don't mind going to this dentist at all. read more

My family has been going to Macadam Dental for 3 years now. Most of our visits have been regular checkups. I can't say that a trip to the dentist can be enjoyable, but ours have consistently been as relaxed as can be imagined. The Drs. and all of their staff are extremely professional (and truly interesting people, which makes a difference when your stuck in a chair). But most importantly, both my daughter and I have had the crowns for front tooth implants done by Mr. Dr. Morich. In both cases, the process was easy and painless, and the results look much better than our original teeth. I remember sitting in a traffic jam on Sellwood bridge on the way to Macadam, thinking "maybe we should find a closer dentist". It took 2 seconds to process that thought. No way. read more

Anna and Dr. Kevin knocked it out of the park today at my dental appointment, with their kindness and excellent care. I worked myself into an anxious knot this morning, because of old fears about going to the dentist, dreading the appointment, to have a back molar prepped for a crown. By the time I got to my appointment in the early afternoon had been a mess for hours, and my dental anxiety was sky high. I have complete faith in Dr. Kevin and Anna, who assists him. I'm the one who makes myself crazy! I took a half a Xanax a bit before the appointment, which also helped. Before they began the procedure they listened carefully to my concerns, and helped me pinpoint my biggest concern (that we would learn that my most recent crown, on an adjacent tooth, would need a root canal, because of occasional zings, and sensitivity). They were clear that my having a good experience was the highest priority. Anna was happy to provide me with a blanket, and brought me a set of headphones, with the adapter for my phone, so I could listen to music during the drilling - I forgot my earbuds at home. And I *hate* needles, and the injection of the numbing agent is the worst part of the appointment for me. I was offered the option of Dr. Kevin doing the injection, rather than a hygienist, which I appreciated, and accepted, given how anxious I was. Dr. Kevin is great about telling me when he is halfway through the injection, and when there's about 5 seconds left, and Anna gently squeezes my shoulder, which is very comforting. A big shout out to Anna and Dr. Kevin for making a stressful experience as stressless as possible. Thank you! read more

Really friendly staff and modern office. I got the feeling it was a business that took great care to make the experience comfortable for patients. Took my nine year old daughter there for a routine check and she was happy with her visit. The dentist came out and was really easy to talk to. He had nothing to say except my daughter's teeth looked good, even reassuring me that her crooked teeth may straighten out themselves. There is plenty of parking but do be aware that visitor parking is designated at the outer perimeters of the lot and they do ticket if you don't park there.
