On the Mass Ave strip sting right between flying cupcake and sub zero ice cream is this great little macaron shop. They've been here six years but the place is very simple inside making the treats the star! The person behind the counter was nice and patient and helpful. Pleasantly surprised by how good these were!! We stopped by on a whim and sampled a few different flavors. From classics like chocolate and vanilla, to some of the more exciting flavors (cookies and cream, black raspberry chocolate, champagne, espresso cardamom) they were all on point! I'm in MACARON heaven. After a trip to France I have taken in the past, I have been on the lookout for some and this place is as close to it as you will get in Indy! A box of 12 macarons will run you at around $30 but it is so worth it. Also love the fact that they put a variety so you can taste test different ones. Do macarons sound like a great alternative to a wedding cake? If so, don't order them from here. Three months ago, I put in an order and a deposit for 130+ macarons. I finalized the order a couple weeks ago, paying $300 to this place with the promise they'd be ready for pickup on 10/25/24 at noon. When I called the morning of 10/25 to confirm that my friend would be picking up the order (that I placed three months ago for MY WEDDING and paid in full; just wanted to reiterate that) for me, the person on the phone at Macaron Bar sounded nervous and distracted. I told my friend to let me know if anything was weird when she arrived, and, what do you know, weird didn't even begin to cover it. My order WASN'T DONE. Apparently this Onyx person was sick the day before, so the order wasn't started until this morning. I asked when they thought it would be finished... the best ETA that Onyx could give was "pretty soon." Exasperated, I told them to just cancel the order. The wedding location is four hours from Indianapolis and we were all leaving town well before Onyx's "pretty soon" timeframe. Also, I really didn't feel like paying for cookies that were rushed through at the last minute by a potentially sick person. Onyx assured me that my money was refunded, but I did contact the store in Cincinnati, which is run by the same group, to ensure that was the case. Elizabeth, who answered the phone in Cincinnati, was very apologetic and helpful. I'll write a separate review for that store. Even if I get a refund without a fuss, I am beyond disappointed in the way that this situation was handled. I won't be back for any reason. read more

I had walked passed the Macaron Bar so many times but yesterday I decided to treat myself! They were SO FLUFFY like clouds. I got 6 macarons pictured in order (6 for $16 deal): Fruity Pebbles (superb), Black Raspberry Chocolate (WONDERFUL), Toasted Coconut (the perfect amount of coconut flavor), Birthday Cake (you can't go wrong with birthday cake flavored anything), Chocolate Orange Blossom (didn't taste any orange flavor in this- it was basically all chocolate), and Pistachio (perfect taste & design). I thought I had reviewed this place but apparently I have not. I work downtown Indy so I am there pretty often even though I work from home part-time. Whenever I am on Mass Avenue I always try to remember to go over and pick up some macarons at the Macaron Bar. When I stopped in there over the weekend they were having a class. So if you ever want to learn how to make macarons instead of paying the price they offer the way. I usually get the box that has 12 and currently the price for 12 is $27 but you can get them singly or in a six pack. However you get them they are delicious. The other thing is if there is a broken one or when they're picking them up they crush it they save those and give them to any of the homeless folks that walk in there. So I thought that was pretty nice. My favorite is the birthday cake macaron but come on in and see which one you like. read more

My daughter was recently "influenced" to head to macaron bar. Her friend had done a cooking class and raved about how good the macarons were. She had a busy weekend of sports, so as a treat, we headed there to try them out. It's a bit hidden, but we found it. The inside is quaint and cute. The worker had her recommendations and filled our little 12 piece box (she even threw in an extra). I tried a variety but my daughter stuck with cookies & cream and birthday cake. She ate 6 in a short time so I'd say she approved. We will DEFINTELY be back and hope to try one of their baking classes soon. read more

A very small store located on Mass Ave and is easy to miss. I had to drive by two times before I saw it. There is metered parking right outside and one table inside. They have a large selection of flavors. These are the best flavored macarons I have ever had. They are bursting with flavor! What a cute little spot on Mass Ave! Macaron Bar hosted the Indy Blog Society for their one year birthday bash. We got to see the space, learn about how macarons are made and sample the goods. They host their own baking parties and this would be a fun spot for a birthday outing, bachelorette party or girls day. We received a box of 12, although the box only holds 11. The 12th went in a bag. My advice is to get some pancaking that fits ALL your product so it looks a little more consistent. I tried the Birthday Cake, Red Velvet, Sea Salt Carmel, Carmel Apple and Vanilla. The Birthday Cake was the winner! All flavors were good though. Will have to go back to try some others. read more

There are few places to get macrons in Indianapolis - Gallery Pastry Shoppe and here being the best know ones. I think I may prefer the other bakery macrons, but it's honestly very close. Cute little vibrant cookies. This was actually my first time trying a cookie of this type. One of mine were the red velvet and it didn't taste red velvet at all but it was still yummy.
