We had an issue with a glass door catching on the latch and not closing completely. Luis took my call around noon and was out the next day to fix the issue. Luis pointed out the door had improperly installed hinges and explained the correct fix in a way that made sense given the extra cost. I am satisifed with the work performed, the new piano style hinge looks great and the latch acuates with no resistance. The vertical door gap is straight and true (gap along top-side is not square because building settling). Time will tell about the quality of materials and installation, and I will update if anything changes, but I am a happy camper for now! read more

Lewis contacted me the day of my appointment to let me know when he was about 10 minutes away. He was actually early! He did an excellent job moving the strike plate and drilling a new hole so that my tenant's bedroom door could close and lock properly. After he was finished with this job I asked him if he had time to look at my front door handle and deadbolt which have been in need of replacement for some time. He was able to quickly access and explain the problem to me and while he did not have the parts needed to replace the handle and lock in his truck he went to get them and returned in an extremely timely fashion. I needed to have an immediate lock change because my front door lock was broken as well as the storm door handles and I could not go to sleep with the front door unlocked especially with 3 children in bed. Lewis did a great job putting in new deadbolts for the front and interior doors of a basement apartment. The antique doors aren't completely level, making it a challenge to install new locks. The final fit was perfect. He also fixed a misaligned latch for a sliding glass door. Would recommend. read more

I rarely ever write reviews but had to do so for MacArthur. My car and keys stolen from in front of my house this AM so I wanted to change my front door locks immediately. Did a google search for Bethesda and locksmith and MacArthur Locks came up. Was not going to do more research so just called them...and boy was that a lucky find! The locksmith came to my house within an hour which was great, but even better was the service and reasonable pricing. A lot of "same day" / "emergency" services can be very expensive. The locksmith was very friendly and immediately told me that for one lock I did not need to replace the whole lock, just the key "cylinder" which is a lot less expensive. Obviously, he could have said I needed to replace it and I would have done that and paid more. Good stuff. read more
