So, I stumbled into MacDinton's Pub last night, and let me tell you, it was like entering a parallel universe where common sense goes on vacation. First off, Charlie was playing his homemade musical instrument that sounded like a cat in distress, but somehow, it added to the ambiance. I ordered a drink from Hannah W, who was going by the name of "Sweet Dee". As she handed me the drink, her awkward dance moves and exaggerated expressions turned a simple transaction into a performance worthy of its own sitcom on FX. Meanwhile, I found myself in a confusing discussion with Dennis, who had just finished talking about something he called the Dennis system and was now passionately arguing the benefits of using conditioner over shampoo. Frank, the wildcard, was in the corner scheming something involving egg salad. I didn't dare ask. The whole place smelled like mystery and regret but in a strangely appealing way. Despite the chaos, there's a bizarre charm to MacDinton's Pub. It's the kind of place where you'll witness a heated debate over the superiority of cats versus dogs, and Mac will inevitably flex his biceps while trying to settle it. It's like a dysfunctional family reunion you never knew you needed. In the end, I left with a confused palate, questionable life choices, and a story that'll make people wonder if I accidentally wandered into a cult gathering. Get a load of this - MacDinton's had a policy - DURING GASPARILLA - that guys couldn't wear tank tops. I was wearing a basketball jersey, well, because that's what you do at Gasparilla. They let me in the bar, took my $10 cover, then 10 minutes later some douchebag bouncer that probably makes $12/hr and goes home to his wife who is beat to hell, asks me to leave because I didn't have sleeves on. Yeah, so does every other girl in the entire bar, not to mention about 5 other bro's that were wearing tanks, but failed to confront them. Listen, I get it if it was a high class club at midnight and I was trying to get in being a slouch. But this is God-foresaken Gasparilla, in the DAYTIME, in 75 degree weather. I know what you're thinking reading this - the manager of MacDinton's, who came up with this joke of a policy, should have been out of the game years ago but can't go home because he hates his wife, and probably has to come up with this sort of policy to make his fat-ass self feel relevant around guys who take care of themselves. Came from out of town, went there last night 7/15 approx 12:30am. Waited in line realized that i couldn't find my valet ticket told the guy checking ID's I'll be right back, walked past him where some bouncers and a cop was. I said pardon me, NEVER TOUCHED anyone. Got my car issue fixed. Walked back up.. cop said they weren't gonna let me in. I asked why, his reply was cause i acted like a jerk. Didn't understand what i did, So i asked him, he said i walked thru him, when he told me to walk around which was a LIE. Told him what was going on, i wasn't from here, I was trying to find my valet stub before my care pulled off. He said he DIDN'T SHIT about my problem, i was being an ass.. then when he realized he had NOTHING on me, he says, shut up or I'll ARREST YOU FOR BATTERY ON A COP. I NEVER TOUCHED HIM. I looked and laughed told him you can't be serious. I never touched you and if i did you would have known 100%. The police at a venue is there for serve and protect not to BULLY.. i run nightclubs and i know the importance of cops and security. Used to be an ok place once upon a time. Now it's infested with thugs. I asked a bouncer with a missing finger to retrieve a $2000 chain I had snatched off my neck. Biggest mistake. Dude is probably a thief himself hence why his finger is missing. I was there with my girlfriend trying to have a good time and I got bullied by about 5 thugs n nobody did dick about it. I made the biggest mistake by not calling the cops. The entire soho strip has turned into a cesspool. It's not just that place. I wouldn't doubt if people bring guns into the bars. At this point nothing will surprise me. Everyone working at that bar is most likely a criminal of some sort. Shit is a joke. If u are a person of any kind of class stay clear from that entire south Howard area. I would give this mud hole less than a star if I was able to. 1 star is generous for this place. Just a group of Vultures running a scrimmage game over someone else's shit. I don't feel comfortable there and it's one thing to fight a fare fight and another to get outnumbered by a group of lowlifes that have zero to lose. I hope it gets shut down. Holy crowded summer! I came here during the summer after I landed in Tampa to visit some friends. My first thoughts when I arrived at MacDintons with my friends was, "PARTY CENTRAL! whooha!" The crowd was young and the drinks are $10 all you can drink during happy hour which starts at 6pm and seems to end at 8pm. There's a long line to get in, but come on.. $10 all you can drink? A long line is expected! The place itself is huge! It's outdoors and indoors and you can roam all over the place just.. people watching while drinking yourself into oblivion on that $10s worth of all you can drinks for 2 hours. A little after 8pm, the crowd started to get smaller and we ended up having a bit more breathing room and we could actually hear our own conversations. Just remember to grab a few more drinks before the 8pm and sip slower there after if you plan on staying at MacDintons. Otherwise, you'll end up paying the actual prices for your drinks. I would definitely come back, just because it's a fun experience! And who can pass up $10 worth of all you can drink anyways? read more

Ya gotta go where the guys go... that's my saying! MacDintons is an Irish Pub where a lot of guys hang out in Tampa. I think they go there for the drink specials and the grub, although my girlfriends and I had a great time shopping around while drinking at this pub. I met a fantastic guy from New York, my old stomp'n grounds, and so I have to give the place five stars. If you're looking to meet someone, go where the guys go! If all you're doing is drinking, you can't complain about the food. We ate before we came here so we weren't looking for food, although I'm sure it was good grub or they wouldn't get such a huge turnout... this place literally was packed. I think if it works out with my new friend, we'll have to have an "anniversary date" at the good ole MacDintons pub. My girlfriends left disappointed from not making a connection, but plan to go back and hang there again soon. beware!!!! do not go to yard of ale!!! they steal your money!!! i left a cash tip on gasparilla, and 3 days later my bank account listed an additional $5.50 charge. when i disputed it with them and asked for a signed merchant copy, this is what they sent me! a "signed customer copy" from some guy named bob something or other! when i asked them if they were messing with me they admitted they never even looked at the sig!?! so after telling me multiple time to dispute with my bank, i told them that i would not, and that they were responsible for my refund. they finally agreed and never did! This hub of South Tampa nightlife seems to be gaining in popularity as the years go by. It's unique mix of daytime "footie" fans, the business Happy hour set and the late night revelers continues to amaze. While Mac Dinton's is a renowned watering hole it also has a lot to offer in terms of food. I enjoy the brunch there as I watch my team play at the weekends and if you ask me they have the best wings in the neighborhood, hands down. I also like to avail of the many daily specials offered (both drink and food). The beauty of Mac Dinton's is that they cater for all and do so with a friendly, efficient and knowledgeable staff. I love the atmosphere here. It really makes me feel like I'm in Ireland. The live music really keeps it fun and energetic. They even have Karaoke on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The staff is wonderful; they are fun and friendly all the time. They serve some of the best Irish dishes I have ever had. Bangers and Mash is so delicious. The Irish sausage and mashed potatoes covered in their brown sauce is so flavorful. The Cheesecake Bites are so sweet and creamy. They also have a patio where you can relax with a nice drink in your hand during their $10 All You Can Drink from 6pm to 8pm, or sit and eat. Been going here for years. Like Many I have a love hate relationship with this bar... love the staff, the good beer and drink selection, and when do eat the food is great. It can be crowded like many say, but its what I'm looking for. Howard Ave is a bar district and people should expect the weekends to yield big crowds of locals, and more recently tourists. I am a big soccer fan and love the USMNT. No better place in the World to see the game other than Macd's. Again, big crowds so if you want a seat, get there early. I'm not sure what qualifies as "authentic" these days, but my favorite bartender is from Ireland, so that's good enough for me! read more

To start drinks are over priced bar staff is rude and bar smells like mildew and rotting food. During the day during the week the place isnt as horrible but weekend and evening are trashy to say the least. I think this place is understaffed and staff needs updated training. People they allow in the bar are beyond drunk. You will see someone passed out or vomiting at this bar on ANY given weekend. Bar tenders will ignore your for at least 7-15 min before serving you. A few girlfriends and I decided to check out Soho one night, and we heard about MacDintons and figured it's "the place" to go! There was a long line to get in, but with all good hot spots, that's what you have to deal with, right? Wrong! This was a hot night in August, in Florida and it didn't even feel like the AC was running. It was hotter inside then outside! It seemed like most of the guys there were falling over drunk, it was over crowded, and I even had a beer spilled on me. This place deserves 0 stars for service bc they are racist AF. My group was pushed and harassed by the bouncers bc one of the members of my group simply threw their drink on the parking lot floor (he held on to the cup) as he was attempting to leave, and, as a result, he was aggressively thrown on the floor, his shirt was ripped, and face brutally scratched. I've been to this place before, some years ago and it was okay. This time was different though, it was last Monday for MNF to my surprise they've a 49er fan following & entourage of Gold standard GREATNESS! On top of that... if that wasn't enough... the staff was fantastic! Lexy & Meg were super sweet, fun, attentive! They were routing & celebrating along with us like our very own 49er faithful cheerleaders! It was an incredible night with friends, fans & good food! This establishment used to be the ultimate party spot- not just on South Howard, but throughout the Tampa Bay Area. Unfortunately, this pub has gone completely downhill. It is filled with stumbling 19 year olds who don't hold the capacity to drink responsibly. It seems that as long as a person is able to provide two forms of identification, they are allowed to enter the premises. As long as they are making money, they will let anyone in. So upset about this place. Heard so many good things about it..but my experience was awful.. messed up my whole night ... The bouncer on steroids was a complete ass whole that wouldn't take my passport as a form or ID..if he would have flip through it he would have seen that I've been to Mexico and Jamaica. Gross and every time i go here one of my friends or myself ends up having something stolen either purse money or drinks right from the bar!! this use to be an okay place till recently its turned into slummiest place around town!!
