Came here for happy hour. Got six oysters, a margarita and a spritz. Everything came out quickly. Bartender was a pro. Great place!
My boyfriend and I came to Timpano in Hyde Park for brunch specifically to try their French toast...i've been here before and loved it, but he hadn't tried it yet. We have our absolute favorite French toast spot nearby, but he declared this one by far the best in Tampa, and I have to agree, it's definitely up there! The Tiramisu French Toast (I think that's the one) was incredible: rich, fluffy, perfectly presented. We also got the brunch burger with an added egg. It was okay, nothing wrong with it, but it had a bit of a burnt/hard flavor on the patty that some people love but wasn't our favorite. Price-wise, it felt standard for a place like this (similar to other upscale burgers around Tampa), but we weren't dying over it. The truffle fries we added were outstanding, crispy, flavorful, and came with an incredible homemade dipping sauce. For an appetizer, we split the whipped burrata on toast (I think it's burrata crostini or similar) perfect portion to share between two (maybe up to four max), great presentation, and a nice starter. Coffees were very good, deep, rich flavor that stood on its own (I usually go for specialty drinks, but this was perfect black or with a little cream/sugar). Plates looked cute and matched the vibe. Ambience is great...rustic-elegant Italian feel with nice decor. We sat inside (it was cold out, and it was the Sunday after Gasparilla with the market going on). Place was busy for brunch, but we walked in right after church with no reservation and got seated right away, no wait! Our server was awesome: super knowledgeable about the menu and attentive the whole time. Presentation of the French toast, burger, and burrata was spot-on, everything looked Instagram-worthy. My boyfriend's never had dinner here (I've been before, it's been a while), but now he wants to come back for it. Brunch is definitely a win though..solid spot! Highly recommend if you're in Hyde Park or craving great French toast. We'll be back!
10/10 Christmas dinner. The beef carpaccio as always is amazing. Bruschetta tasted so fresh and light My sea bass was a little underdone but it didn't take away from the experience because they brought us Prosecco and it was divine. Our servers name was Regus or something similar I can't fully remember. He was absolutely amazing. Couldn't have asked for a better experience from the staff.
We visited this spot for a holiday party and from making the reservation to paying the bill, it was such a pleasant experience. The food was delicious. We ordered a wide variety of foods and everyone shared that they thought the food was well seasoned and decent portion sizes. The restaurant is spacious and was decorated beautifully. Bathrooms were clean and they offer outside seating if interested. Lots of natural light inside and I personally love the tropical plants inside and outside. Our server was nice and was on top of the orders. We'll definitely be back.
I am extremely bummed to write this review because prior to this visit we had nothing but amazing experiences. However, our yearly Anniversary Dinner was a tremendous let down at Timpano. We went on a Wednesday night this week, thinking there would be less of a crowd, and there was an extremely loud group of individuals that sat in the middle of the restaurant which ruined the whole atmosphere. The thing that surprised me was that none of the staff were asking them to be quiet and respectful of other guests. Instead, the music in the restaurant was turned up so loud so all evening we could barely hear each other. In addition, our server was beyond inattentive and our entire meal took almost 2 hours from start to finish. We ordered the Whipped Ricotta Crostini for $14 which came out cold and the bread was rock hard we couldn't even bite into it. We were able to get that subbed instead for the Housemade Focaccia which was hot a fresh. It was much better. After that it took an additional 20 minutes to order drinks and another 20 before he finally came to our table to ask if we were ready for our main entree. Our waters were not refilled unless asking and when the meal finally did come out the pasta was great except it was cold. After we finished eating, we waited another 30 minutes before our server came back to ask us if we were ready for the check. When he asked us if we wanted our leftovers boxed up, we said yes, and then proceeded to take our food and get stopped multiple times by other servers and went to another couples table with our food in hand. I don't like that our food was taken around the restaurant around multiple different people. There are sanitary issues in hand. Overall, we were extremely disappointed and will not be having our traditional yearly anniversary at Timpano's anymore sadly.
Timpano has a great happy hour on weekdays from 11am-7pm and weekends from 4-7pm. You can also reserve a happy hour seat at the bar or at a table. Everything on the happy hour menu was delicious, but my personal favorites were the whipped ricotta, meatballs, and mussels. The bartenders were great as well. They also serve brunch on the weekends, which I'll be trying out next
They have some of the best spicy rigatoni Ihave ever tried. The portion for the price, however, was pretty small. The espresso martini was decent though they automatically put Baileys into it which is not my preference. I sat at the bar and all of the bartenders were super sweet! The interior is very pretty. Not a lot of parking around but was able to score a spot on a side street and walk to the restaurant which is around some other fun shops (though they seem to close pretty early).
The food at Timpano was delicious. I would say arancini and truffles needed more favor and salt. Please see my ratings.However, the vibe and ambience are everything. I would like to start by saying a big THANK YOU to our server Emma! She was excellent, recommended the perfect drink and was just kind and amazing. That whipped ricotta on the crostini will FOREVER live in my heart and soul it was absolutely AMAZING. The tomahawk steak was cooked to perfection! Full of flavor, amazing marbling and just enough seasoning. The mashes potatoes paired perfectly. They were smooth, flavorful, did not need any additional seasoning. All in all the meal was perfect and I would love to return!
Never tried the brunch until now and I highly recommend! They had a wide variety of dishes from sweet to savory. I almost got the tiramisu French toast because it looked delicious, I will definitely get next time, but I wanted lunch so I got the rigatoni with sausage and not only is it super well seasoned and mouthwatering but a big portion I had to bring some home. My fiancée go the breakfast burger and he liked the plate cause the sauce they add to it is out of this world! A tip you have to order the truffle fries it's a must. One weird thing they didn't have Coke Zero for all my zero girlies. The service was a little slow but we went after gasparilla so it was packed. The place is always such a trendy vibe and in the heart of Hyde park! Definitely recommend 10/10
I love Timpano! It's always so upbeat and lively in there. The food is amazing and the drinks are too. The spritz and espresso martinis always hit. The pastas are delicious and the Mussels are probably the best ones I've ever had. They have some good deals during the "Social hour" so make sure to come early for that. We did the pasta that's served out of the cheese wheel once and that was so good! Highly recommend coming to Timpano soon!
Timpano has a very energetic vibe. It is beautifully decorated. We were running late on our reservation but they were accommodating and were able to seat us Our server was really nice! We started with the Kale Caesar salad. We decided to go with the Parm to Table bucatini with pesto sauce made on the pasta wheel because when we walked in we saw another party enjoying this and it looked sooo good. We added some grilled chicken and shrimp to our bucatini pesto and it was the perfect amount for the three of us. We enjoyed our dinner and will definitely be back!!!
Had a lovely dinner at Timpano while in Tampa for work. All dishes were very good and the service was great on a very busy Tuesday night. The noise level was thankfully manageable even though it was quite busy. The radiatore was probably my favorite, though I would have liked a little more pancetta. The meatballs were another favorite. The parm to table pasta in the parm wheel was novelty but skippable in my opinion.
Timpano Hyde Park is a Michelin Plate recognized restaurant offering a more approachable mid-range dining experience. A group of us visited during their weekend Social Hour from 4-7 PM and were seated on the patio. The restaurant had a lively atmosphere indoors during Social Hour, but the patio gave us a quieter and more relaxed space to enjoy our meal. We ordered the Parmesan truffle fries, semolina-dusted calamari, burrata caprese, wagyu beef carpaccio, and rigatoni. Unfortunately, they were out of the Mediterranean tuna tartare, and our rigatoni was missed from the order, though it was removed from our check. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of throughout the visit. The Parmesan truffle fries had great flavor and they definitely did not skimp on the truffle. However, based on other reviews, we were expecting them to have more of a crispy texture, but ours arrived softer than expected. The semolina-dusted calamari was our favorite dish, with a nice kick from the cherry peppers and a fresh squeeze of lemon. The wagyu beef carpaccio was solid with plenty of arugula, but the bread pairing was hard and stale. The burrata caprese was a simple, average dish. Overall, we left satisfied. The portions were great for sharing, the patio atmosphere was enjoyable, and the service helped make up for the small hiccups. While not every dish stood out, it was a nice spot for a casual weekend meal in Hyde Park. read more

Was out on date night with my wife and stopped by Timpano for a cocktail. It was later in the night, so the bar wasn't too busy. We ordered 2 cocktails and was surprised how delicious they were. The bartender was attentive and very friendly. Did not try the food, YET! But we have to be back to try their menu. read more

From the moment we were sat the service was great. Daniel was our server and made sure we got exactly what we asked for and even accomadated french fries for a picky eater at the table. The ambiance was a dimly lit booth but we got another light from our server as it got darker. The food was all high quality, the fried calamari didn't have the funky oil smell like the ones at chain restaurants. I'd definitely come back here often of it were a little less pricey. read more

It's beautifully set, the location and atmosphere is amazing. Staff were efficient and friendly and the menu rotates well with plenty to choose from and options for everyone. It's a hit pricey but delicious. Only reason I gave it a 4 star was we had a reservation for 6:45 on Christmas Eve but didn't get set until 7:10, the my rigatoni was undercooked when it arrived. As soon as I told the waiter he resolved the issue immediately. read more
I haven't been here since the renovation and I was so impressed. The interior is so much lighter and modernized. Service was top notch, very helpful and attentive. Food was spectacular. Gotta get the parm to table. I only wish I could have taken the cheese wheel home with me. read more
Yum!!! Came here for a girls brunch the weekend before Christmas and it did not disappoint - the waiter was very attentive and made sure our drinks came out quickly and were tasty. We sat outside and it was nice people watching / We all got the Tuscan kale Caesar with shrimp or chicken and it was delicious! The croutons are homemade and the salad was refreshing and delicious. Awesome happy hour menu & very good drinks. It was packed to the max but we were able to snag a couple seats at the bar at 6:30pm. Happy hour is till 7pm. Very good service. Very lively place. This is the boyfriend's fav happy hour spot & he loves the drinks here. He drove us here all the way from his condo in downtown Tampa. We parked in one of the free parking ramps right next to this place. I ordered the espresso reposado and it was delicious. The boyfriend likes the more citrusy drinks with tequila in them and they were absolutely delicious. read more
Timpano was a tasty and fun spot. I walk by it all the time in Hyde Park Village. The lobster arancini was beyond delicious - flavorful, perfectly seasoned and nicely fried without being greasy. The grilled octopus tasted fresh and not rubbery. The cheese wheel pasta was a great presentation but the pasta and sauce were just okay. It was not salty enough and very overpowering. Our server was attentive and friendly. I will return soon to try other items. read more

I think I'm becoming a creature of habit because I'm back again at Timpano I decided to celebrate my birthday with dinner on a Friday night. We made a late reservation for 8:45 PM. I did find it odd that they had a table who was cashed out, but they had not gotten up yet causing our reservation to run behind. I think for busy nights there should be some sort of time limit, especially when you have parties waiting. They did, however, offer a complementary Prosecco to accommodate for the wait. Once we were seated, everything went smoothly. The service was great. Everything we got was delicious and made to perfection and I ended the night with the most delicious vanilla ice cream other than the initial wait I have no complaints and yes, I will be back. read more

We stopped in for dessert after massages and Timpano did not disappoint. They have these amazing donuts on the dessert menu and honestly, the description doesn't do it justice on the menu. The presentation is lovely and the donuts are decadent and meant for sharing. So good. I think our server was named Abby, she was amazing! We sat outside. I also had my first affogato. Awesome Italian restaurant that was open late into the night and has a beautiful bar! We came im at 9:15 pm with a reservation and even had to wait a little bit for a table because it was so busy. My brother and mom split the table side pesto pasta that is done up nicely in a cheese wheel, I had the bolognese which was fantastic, and my wife had the rigatoni with chicken which she LOVED! Great experience here. Service here was great and everyone was very friendly. The restaurant is spaced out well so everyone isn't on top of each other, which I always like. Food comes out pretty fast too. Fresh salads, homemade bread and a delicious carpaccio. Of course had to get their famous cheese wheel pasta. Fun little show and the amount of pasta you get is unreal. Basically 3lbs and it's enough for at least 4-5 people. read more

The food at Timpano was genuinely good -- no complaints there. Unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ended. Shortly after our appetizers arrived, a group of four young women settled in at the bar. Within minutes, the noise level became extreme -- loud voices and repeated shrieking that carried throughout the dining room, making conversation completely impossible. We couldn't hear each other across the table. We politely asked our server if something could be done. We were told the manager had been notified. At some point, we noticed the bartender say something briefly to the group and pointedly glance in our direction. I want to take it as an acknowledgment, at least, that the complaint had been passed along. It had no effect whatsoever on the noise level. Around us, other diners were visibly frustrated -- we watched people get up and leave, one commenting out loud that they couldn't take it anymore. After trying appetizers, we wanted to stay for a full meal, but instead, we skipped our entrées and left as fast as we could. A bar and a dining room sharing space is a common setup, and it can work beautifully -- but it requires staff willing to do more than a cursory word when bar energy overwhelms the room. A quiet, firm request to keep it down would have been enough. That never came. We may return to try the food again -- but not until we have more confidence that Timpano is willing to protect the dining experience it's presumably trying to offer. read more

For Sunday lunch, we visited Timpano Hyde Park. Since we had made a reservation in advance, we were seated immediately upon arrival. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant was impressive, creating a lively and inviting atmosphere with guests enjoying their meals. Our server, Steven, greeted us and provided menus and water. Unsure about which appetizer to choose, we took his recommendation and ordered the Burrata. For our main courses, we went with: Funghi Crostini, Bucatini, Truffle Trotters. The Burrata arrived first, and it was a standout dish--creamy, flavorful, and complemented perfectly by pistachios, cheese, and bread. It was one of the best appetizers we've had and set a great tone for the meal. Next, our main courses arrived. The Truffle Trotters were a bit underwhelming, and we regretted not choosing Truffle Fries instead. However, the Funghi Crostini and Bucatini were well-prepared, delicious, and served in generous portions. Overall, we enjoyed our experience at Timpano and had a great Sunday afternoon lunch. read more

My friend & I visited Timpano yesterday during their social hour. We were greeted by an extremely welcoming and attentive bartender who gave us great recommendations. I got the Italian Margarita, and my friend got the Limoncello Spritz. Both were good. For food we went with the recommendations, Lobster Arancini and Whipped Ricotta Crostini. The lobster arancini was wonderful, I really enjoyed the greens and felt like it lightened & complimented the dish in a great way. Though the true star of our experience was the whipped ricotta crostini. To die for! I will be coming back specifically for this. The bread was perfectly crunchy with caramelized honey, buttery, had the perfect amount of creamy ricotta & the mint on top just balanced out the dish perfectly. Didn't have a pleasant start to my visit here. My mom and I just finished up a Color Party at Kendra Scott and decided to try out Timpano for lunch. When we entered the establishment we asked about the wait time. The hostess told us that it would be about an hour-hour and a half wait. As we looked around the restaurant there were many empty tables we saw. Something told me to take a look at OpenTable to see if we could put in a reservation request for an hour from now, and just walk around until our time was available. Upon reviewing reservation times, we saw that there was a reservation open for 8 minutes after the current time (it was 4:22, the res. was available for 4:30, and so on in 15 minutes increments until late dinner time). This rubbed my mother and I the wrong way, but we'd heard great things about the restaurant and still wanted to try it. We went in and I showed the hostess the reservation and she immediately said "I don't think that that's accurate, but I'll seat you anyway"...interesting...she then proceeded to try to seat two ladies that were in line behind us, but they were just looking for their party that was already seated. Once seated, our experience improved. Our waitress was welcoming and very helpful with meal selection. I ordered the Zen Martini, which was very yummy! For food, my mom ordered the Heritage Berkshire Pork Chop and I got the Rigatoni. My mom loved her pork chop, but my Rigatoni was subpar. The sauce was fairly salty. I didn't want to make a fuss, so I endured. I'm saddened by the fact that I was really looking forward to trying this place out, but got disappointed by the initial service and the food. Is there parking?
There is roadside parking, plus there is a parking garage near Timpano.
Are kids allowed?
They are, however, I wouldn't exactly call this place family friendly per se. It's very loud and geared a bit more towards adult groups/date nights
Does Timpano still have live jazz and if so what days & times?
No. Food was not the same. Piano is gone
Is there happy hour?
There used to be a few years ago but you had to sit outside or in the bar area. They just renovated and it made the bar area larger so I am not sure now because what would be considered the bar area is the largest part of the restaurant. I'd call…
Do you need reservations and is there a happy hour?
I would highly recommend reservations as wait time could be longer than expected.
Saw articles mentioning restaurant is scheduled to reopen sometime before the 2021 holidays... this is my & my husbands favorite restaurant and I'm dying for it to be reopen before November, to celebrate our wedding anniversary! Any updates to this?
