Well, it's hard enough to find a shop that knows hybrids AND will replace a transmission (the dude at the dealership couldn't even give me a quote), but they were also willing to do a used one, and at a reasonable price! Since then I've driven my car hundreds of miles around the desert (including up that grade to Yucca nearly every dang day) and now back to Portland and it drives beautifully. So we looked on YELP and Next Door and decided to have a mechanic check her out. At Lou's we encountered the rare species of an honest mechanic. He checked out the little problem and said "I could begin replacing things but I'm not sure that would solve the issue." He then advised us to hold off for a while. My husband was so impressed...especially since with our other car at home the dealer forces us to spend a fortune on stuff we don't need or they will "void the warranty."
