Machs is small, but has a classy feel which you won't get from most of the college bars around Bethlehem. Good beer selection, not too loud, a few strategically positioned tvs, daily events like trivia (thursday), decent food and beer prices. Went to this pub during early dinner time on a Monday night, so I missed the supposed college student rush of later hours, but was surprised by the cleanliness and decor of the place; I think I read that it was recently renovated and I was impressed. They have standard pub fare: sandwiches (including a great chicken cheese steak), salads, and some other entrees. The beer is cheap and they have a pretty good selection on tap and in bottles as well as a full liquor bar. Thursdays are $2 beers (forgot which kind) and $0.35 wings. Seemed like a good enough place with pretty tasty food and a really clean, quiet dinner time atmosphere. I'd come here again and may even stay afterward to see it fill up with the college crowd. read more

Ignore the one-star review. The Gute is a great local bar. They have a good selection of beer on tap, and a menu which has a good variety of items. My personal favorite is the "famous taco", but I've never had anything I didn't like, and I go there quite often. read more

Friendly service, that was on point with everything. Ordered the cheesesteak special, for $7.99. A good sized cheesesteak, packed with meat on a good roll. The steak is prepared Lehigh Valley style, with sauce, onions, and American cheese. It's served with a basket of fries. The draft beer selection is good, and the beer is served cold. The wings are super crispy and good size. I was impressed with the food here. I have been to the Gute several times in the past, but never ordered food. Everyone raves about the cheesesteaks here, and they are right they are really good. read more

As I was driving through Bethlehem I stopped at the pub. I ordered the pub burger with a side of cheese fries. The food came out fairly quick and the staff was very nice. The burger was very good but I felt the fries needed a little seasoning. Overall it is a good place to stop if your hungry and you won't be disappointed. Love this place. Exceptionally warm, attentive & friendly service from a largely family-run staff. 3 large screen TV's, a small patio out back & your choice of bar or table seating inside. It's clean, comfortable & priced reasonably. The kitchen is incredibly consistent and they do a nice job rotating the beers on tap... always a good selection + plenty of options. Not so much a college crowd at all around lunch time or early evening. We stopped in last night around 8 o'clock for a late dinner. The sign at the door said "seat yourselves". All the tables were taken, so we waited by ourselves a few minutes until a table became available. We sat at the table for a good 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. When the waitress finally came over to us, she didn't even realize we weren't the three guys that were at the table originally. We had to tell her they left, we handed her the bill holders with the money. She then told us there is a wait list. She made us get up from the table so she could seat other customers that were apparently at the bar. We told her what the sign said and that maybe they needed to change the sign. Her response was, "yeah, I know!" RUDE! No, apologies were offered, so we just got up and left. What horrible customer service! read more

I don't know what the other people are talking about it when it comes to the French fries because ALL of their food here is delicious and they have a great beer selection. They have great prices and specials throughout the week. And to top it off, the staff here is soooo friendly and welcoming. I'm actually a little hesitant to review this place, simply because I like it so much that I don't want more people to go. Food is good and cheap - try the taco, it's ridiculously tasty and is more than enough for a meal, all for about 4 bucks. There are beer and food specials all the time, as well as live music most weekends. Look out for a band called 3 AM - you won't be disappointed. It transitions from an older crowd restaurant into a college bar around 9 o clock, but it's a good, fun college crowd. read more

Standard issue local bar. Has a decent crowd on the weekends but typically not all that much going on. Was here the other day there other day, curious to try a burger because I was hearing positive things about them. Well I ordered a 12oz three cheese burger. When it came out, I was shocked. It was huge!! After devouring it, I can say I was not disappointed. I can see why it was a finalist in the Lehigh valley burger competition.
