My Hubby and I drove from Biloxi to eat here at Macks. And y'all know what?!?! WE WILL BE GOING BACK!! The staff were all so friendly!! I had catfish, crawdads, and the oysters were delicate and sweet!! The stuffed crabs were loaded with crab meat!! I had collard greens and pups on the side. Everything was freshly cooked, too. The buffet looked good but the seafood of choice was fried and boiled shrimp, Small fried oysters, fried catfish and baked fish. We went to Mack's last night. Party of five with two of us eating the buffet. The food was Wonderful. The service was SLOW and awful! We waited ten minutes for a server after being seated in one of the alcoves. Drinks were terribly slow in getting to the table and the refills were just as bad. I hate tipping for lousy service but I know most places pool their tips and every server is not as slow. As always the food did not disappoint! read more

The company I work for had food catered for us and the food was EXCELLENT! I was very impressed UNTIL I decided to bring my boyfriend to dinner at the actual restaurant. We walked in and were seated in a decent time frame and it wasn't busy. We sat down and were looking over the menu what seemed like forever. Servers were walking right past us like we didn't exist. This is my favorite restaurant in the Burg. When I initially moved to the Burg, I was going South on 49 from Jackson and immediately saw the big fish sign. I knew I wanted to try it! The restaurant is a good 5-minutes off the highway. It is in a large cabin on a small river. It is definitely a country cooking kind-of-place. It is so, so good! Chicken, veggies, biscuits, dessert, mmm mmm mmm. The place is very clean. There is indoor and outdoor patio seating. This would be a wonderful place to host a reunion. I will be back! read more

Plates were a fair $12.99 not including the delicious tea. If you are from the South and you are obese, this place provides a good explanation. Healthy? No. Low salt? Our blood pressure laughs at that. Fried crispy and golden? Oh yeah. Does every dessert hide beneath a creamy blanket of Cool Whip? Of course. This place is a solid 4 stars of good Southern style home cooking. And enough of it to make even the most disciplined eater walk away feeling ASHAMED. Worth it. I give 5 stars for the Sunday lunch buffet, and 3 stars for the Seafood buffet. The Sunday buffet is absolutely superb. There were many people, but it was very quiet. The best biscuits I've ever had in my entire life. They absolutely melt in your mouth. There were green beans and green bean casserole, creamed corn, fried chicken and fried catfish, gumbo, clam chowder, biscuits and rolls, and soft serve ice cream! They also have a menu if you choose not to have the buffet, but considering that it costs less than $10 I don't know why you wouldn't! The seafood buffet was not impressive at all. There were shrimp and fried fish on the buffet, but you had to pay extra for each crab cluster, and though they were seasoned well, they weren't cooked well - they mushed when you tried to break them, so you had to fight to get the crab out. Not fun! Most of the Sunday buffet was repeated in the seafood dinner buffet, but the biscuits I could die for were missing, so I decided to order from the menu instead of spending so much money when I don't usually eat much. read more

This wasn't the buffet they wanted to share, it was a meal. My dinner was forgotten and I received my meal after everyone was just about finished eating theirs. The combo platter came with fried shrimp, fried catfish fillets, stuffed crab, house salad and Mac-n-cheese. We were told the waitress would make our salad, but if we wanted to we could make our own at the buffet. There was plenty of lettuce and not much of anything else! Boring salad to say the least. The shrimp was ok. The catfish was very thin and very salty. The Mac n cheese was watered down. The hush puppies were dry. We paid about $250 to eat here. We will find somewhere else to spend our money next time. Not worth the drive. And had I read the reviews about the owner killing an animal I wouldn't have been there to begin with. read more

Worst dining experience...EVER!! Over-priced for the quality. We have been one time before with no problems, but this time was the complete opposite. Sub-par food that came out of a freezer, was not fresh and mostly breading, a 'salad bar' with basically nothing but lettuce, cold and runny, greasy food that tasted like it had been sitting out all day, and the server was very rude and had zero customer service skills, to put it lightly. She was argumentative, told us we could 'go make our own salad', and even forgot to put an order in. No apologies for anything, and definitely no offers to 'make things right,' by either the 'server' or the guy she had bring out the missing food to us. I guess since this was a large party, that she thought she could act like she wanted and still get her tip. My husband and I recently ate at this Resturant because it was the only one that we could find that had crab legs. To our amazement, we ate everything except crab legs. The food was delicious!!
