The fish are some of the best you will find in the area. However, I am very aggravated by my recent experience. I placed a to go order and paid an up charge for extra fries in place of cole slaw but got no fries and extra cole slaw. Probably won't be back. read more

I have been wanting to try out this local establishment for sometime now. I finally get a chance to eat there and oh what a disapointment. I'm not one to judge a place on it's building, but they are in need of repairs. 3 front windows are all cracked, the roof on the left front is being held up by a board, and the decor is the original from when it first opened. My wife and I decided to share a seafood platter and we were told we had to pay $3 for the extra plate. The platter was a dip plate, which is small. We got 3 of the larger shrimp total. The food was average. We paid by credit card and once again was told we had to pay like 3% charge for using it. Overall a huge disappointment. Btw the platter was like $25 plus the $3. Not worth giving them our business. read more

We stopped in from Birmingham headed to the NO airport. This place has some great atmosphere and from the outside looks like your typical Gulf seafood cafe. The food here is just that good. We all had fried shrimp to catfish and fries and loved every bit of it. The hush puppies were "slap your momma good" and the sweet tea was even great! My wife loves cole slaw and she raves about it as the best she had eaten. The food cane out really hot and really quick. The best surprise for us was the fried breading used had no dairy like the typical egg and milk so our son w dairy allergies could eat it up and he did. I didn't like cole slaw until I ate here. You have to try it with these pickled (but almost sweet) green tomatoes and jalapeños, and it makes you crave it for weeks afterward. I also don't like tomatoes, like seriously just try it... The fried seafood is decent, but prepare yourself to eat fried food with more fried food. Hush puppies are exceptional, and the service is always friendly. Minus one star for the sticky table, (I think their cleaning solution just leaves a sticky residue, I don't think it was actually dirty) and for sitting under an air conditioner which made the food get cold faster. Overall a quiet gem worth a visit. The prices are fair for what you get, you certainly can't get non-chain, real seafood for less. read more

Praise the Lord!! The catfish gods have answered my prayers....If I were to be a catfish and raised in a farm for eating purposes, I want to be cooked here. How come I don't weigh 300lbs like everyone else eating in this restaurant escapes me! I have lived in the south (Mississippi, the catfish capital of the world) long enough to realize how good fried catfish should taste like....not like the ones you get in Chicago. Heck, I have even been to the world catfish museum in Belzoni, MS The breading...oh, the breading...it is divine! You have the option of choosing four fillets of catfish or go for the unlimited. You can also choose between fillets, nuggets, and whole catfish. All served with cole slaw, hush puppies and homestyle fries. Delicious!! I go for the unlimited fillets. We first started out with fried dill pickles. We've had better. The breading was thin and flaky. It tasted more like fish batter instead of flour. I loved the taste of the hush puppies, but my husband didn't care for them. They were lightly breaded and not too dense. The fried shrimp and catfish filets were tasty, as well as the coleslaw. The fries were meh. The atmosphere was quaint, but could use some updating. All in all, not too bad. read more

Stopped here for lunch while passing through Hattiesburg on the way to Jackson. It apparently is known for its all you can eat fried catfish, but we opted for the "small plate" fried shrimp. I had the butterfly shrimp which were excellent. Hubby had the popcorn shrimp, which I thought had too much breading and not enough shrimp. Slaw was really good. They also served some spicy tomato pickles which were tasty. Shrimp were served with handcut fries. You could tell that everything was made from scratch. Ambience is gray cinderblock walls with plastic table cloths. Nothing fancy. Would come here again if in the mood for fried seafood...not much else on the menu. read more

I wish I had a positive thing to say about the food. It was my husband and myself first time trying it and we ordered the oyster shrimp platter, first the oysters were not finished cooking and the shrimp had a very odd thick batter. When I asked about butterfly shrimp they said they had it.. they didn't so they improvised and not well. My "fries" were cooked at the way and stuck together. And it was 39$!!! read more

Hubby and I had a nice meal here this afternoon during our visit to Hattiesburg area. He had catfish which was lightly breaded and delicious; I had fried oysters, the small plate --and the oysters were very large and very good! Loved the pickled green tomatoes and their coleslaw was also very good. Service was very friendly! Yesterday my husband and I were driving through Hattiesburg on our way home .. We were looking for a place to eat and decided to stop here .. What a disappointment. The inside was dingy and the vinyl table clothes sticky. My husband ordered the all you can eat Catfish which he said was good but the hush puppies were dry and flavorless and the French fries were greasy. I ordered the butterflied Shrimp which were breaded so when I tore them apart to dip in the cocktail sauce the breeding came off revealing they were not deveined. Also, it says they take Credit Card .. Well there's a sign saying credit card charges will be charged and additional 3% !! Their Coleslaw and pickled Green Tomatoes were good and the Service was good Unfortunately, that is all we enjoyed. read more

I just had my Mother's Day dinner at Rayner's. Yummmmmm. Good food and plenty of it, smiling pleasant waitresses and staff. Terrific potato salad, home cut fries, and the best, most authentic, like-my-mom-used-to-make catfish that I have had in years. And they even accommodated my Celiac Disease/Gluten Free issues without a blink.This is comfort food with a Capital C. read more
