During crawfish season, this is a full 5 stars. The crawfish are big, tender, and perfectly seasoned. The rest of the year, this is a solid 4 stars. Food has been solid, good, tasty, and fresh. Service is always friendly. Nice and casual, and a fun atmosphere. My biggest complaint is purely personal...the fried oysters are cornbread breading. I prefer battered. BUYER BEWARE! Prices are 30-35% higher than advertised online. Bought 2# (about 5-6 clusters here) Snow Crab ($55.79) which looked to be about 1.5# and included 2 back legs on one cluster, 3 very small back legs on one cluster, 4 on the others. All were small and only 3 front claws. CHARGED $0.75 for extra butter (about 3 pats equivalent), AT ROOM TEMPERATURE. Dined in. NO SERVICE. You place your order and pay at a plexiglass barricade with non-english speaking staff (the manager in my case). You are given a cup, serve yourself a beverage and seat yourself. Then the order-taking staff/manager call You from behind that same plexiglass barrier for you to come get your meal before reseating yourself. The crab was served in a to-go box with a plastic fork. The crab was ordered spicy. Opening the foam box it looked like melted butter with a little cayenne was poured over the legs which included some lung material (and a little tamale which I am ok with), empty body cavities from missing legs (i.e. NO MEAT, JUST carcass). Tasted like melted butter with a little cayenne was poured over the top. Craw meat was LESS THAN ROOM TEMPERATURE. Taste was no where near spicy, closer to BLAND. Overall a bad dining experience. Talked to the "manager" but her poor english could not disguise her indifference. Friends told me to save me the trouble and drive a mile or so west to Juicy Crabs (which was very good but expensive) or, better yet, drive to Bay St. Louis a little over an hour away to Silver Slipper or 90 minutes away to Biloxi's casino's for their all you can eat crab buffets for about $50! read more

Me and my friend went to the crab house and we figured, we would try it but we didn't know that these people didn't know how to boil or season the 2 pounds of crabs we got. The Po boy was completely horrible. The breading for the po boy was the wrong type of bread, and the oysters were tasteless. Not a bad joint for seafood considering we are not on the coast. Right now service is a little slow but the staff are super friendly and trying. I don't think a seafood place is a comfort zone for many workers there. Hopefully they will be around for awhile and will try the food again. It's mainly seafood boils and not single platters. The Crab House is my go-to place if I'm craving seafood in Hattiesburg. The crawfish here is seasoned very well!! Definitely the best in the Hattiesburg area for sure. They also have a lot of other seafood choices-- fried or boiled! The boiled shrimp combo is my personal favorite and it comes with a lot in a box to fill you up. They also have other boiled options such as snow crab, blue crab, and dungeness crab depending on the season. Also there is a lot of choices if you're looking for fried options. They have shrimp, fish, oysters, etc., and they come with two sides of your choice too. I don't know who or where these other people are from but it is obvious they haven't eaten seafood before. The boiled shrimp was terrible what you could peel had no flavor. The sprinkle spice on everything after it's cooked. To the one who said the food had no flavor is exactly right. Hope this helps anyone who thinks they may want to try it. Had lunch today and enjoyed it. Had crawfish (spicy) and catfish which were both excellent. The only negative's were the fried okra was over cooked and hard plus the service is rather slow. Well drove by there several times thinking oh great a crab house where I can get crab legs and crab items and crab plates and what an awesome thing for this area all I found was a bar full of people drinking and cursing in four letter words ordered oysters on the half shell and they were full of sand and grit then the manager was unaccommodating , our waitress did not bring us plates to eat our food with and did not bring the sauces that we requested. After sending back the Oysters our waitress did not ask us if we wanted to order anything else. This is a straight up BAR and thats it. read more

I came back up to get it fixed and she almost handed me the right order that had been sitting on the counter when I was here the first time. The crawfish is cooked to perfection! It's not as salty as Strick's or Triangle Seafood. It's location is perfect for those who aren't willing to drive to west Hattiesburg for Southern Mississippi Crawfish Company. It's definitely the spiciest crawfish around for those sensitive to spices. They do offer boiled shrimp with corn and potatoes as well as fried platters that come with 3 sides. Only down side is that drinks aren't included. I'm not much of a fried food person, but I'd definitely recommend the boiled or steamed seafood they offer! read more
