Tucked away but worth finding. I'm traveling on I59 from Baton Rouge to Huntsville. It's early for me to eat, 4:15 when I arrived, but wanted to stop before dark for dinner. This piace popped up as #1 when I searched on curry. I was only one dining in, but several pickup orders placed and/or picked up. The dining room is lovely. The table setting is lovely. The staff were very helpful. The food was really good. I'm marking it as a place to stop next time I come through.

This was the perfect spot to have hot spicy food and a cold winters day! Indian Delight is not just a restaurant, but an experience. My wife and I come here once a week because it is just incomparable to any other food we eat. It's also about knowing what to order here. Meat eaters: I recommend a classic-- Chicken Tikka Masala Vegetarians: Tiranga Veg with a trio of flavorful sauce variety and paneer as the protein. Absolutely incredible food. I had a amazing time Me, my brother, and mother came and ate here tonight. The first thing we noticed is how clean it is, the music, the smell, and the layout- it's amazing. It makes you really feel like you're in a INDIAN restaurant. The staff are nothing short of amazing. We specialize in Authentic Indian Cuisine. People could dine in the restaurant. We have a seating of 125 people, or they could call in and place the order over the phone. We could also prepare food for 100 to 200 people for their catering event.

Established in 2014.

This business was initiated in 2014 and was later taken over by Mr. Gautam Nautiyal in March, 2021. He strongly feels that there are many people who are yet to experience the authenticity of Indian Cuisine. Hattiesburg was in a need of Indian restaurant since this provides a unique experience to people who were getting tired of eating at the same old franchises. The business also believes in contributing towards the society and that is why they distribute free meals every month to the community heroes.

Meet the Business Owner: Gautam N.

Mr. Gautam Nautiyal is the sole owner of Indian Delight. He did his bachelors in hotel management from Mumbai, India. After working for many restaurants and hotels in USA, including Hyatt Regency (New Orleans) he started his own venture in March 2021. He specialises in Authentic Indian Cuisine. He strives to bring the real taste and culture of India to Hattiesburg!

Aunt Robin had the shrimp and grits. Those were the star of the show. So creamy and incredible flavor. Very generous amount of nice sized shrimp. Mike had the Keg Stand burger. He requested the sauce on the side. It's definitely a unique flavor. Nice soft bun. The meat was grossly over cooked but would have been tasty had it not been so dry. The onion rings that came with the burger were soggy. Overall, enjoyed it. We know what to get next time. Shrimp and grits and KPauls pasta!!

There are absolutely no shortages of places to eat in Hattiesburg. Some visiting might lean towards safe places with menu items they feel secure and safe with, and there's nothing wrong with that. But, if that's you you're missing out on some amazing food. Today I took my wife for mother's day as they had some special items on their menu, while also keeping their regular menu available. We started with their standard dumpling appetizer. We get it everytime we eat there and they're delicious every time. The meals we picked were the the kimchi cabanara and the shrimp and grits. Both on their special mother's day menu. Both were absolutely delicious with fresh ingrediants, balanced seasonings and amazing flavors. I'm Italian and grew up eating traditional family Sunday dinners but this bowl of pasta was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere of the place is very modern with a combination of traditional asian features mixed with some modern MTV inspired artwork. If you're into craft cocktails they got you covered as well. The only miss we had to day was our server never came back to take our dessert order, when we asked to order it he confused what we said for the bill and brought that instead. Not a deal breaker, we were actually too full for it anyway and we've had their desserts before. They always inventive and delicious. At the end of the day, one small service hiccup wasn't enough to overshadow what was an outstanding meal and experience. In a city packed with chain restaurants and predictable menus, places like this are what make Hattiesburg's food scene worth exploring. If you're willing to step outside your comfort zone a little, you'll be rewarded with creative dishes, quality ingredients, and flavors you'll still be thinking about on the drive home. The pork and shrimp dumplings were a bit firmer than I'm used to, but not in a bad way, and the flavors were excellent. The pot roast egg rolls were a fun mashup. The okra was delicious - perfectly cooked and great balance of flavors. The pork belly buns were my favorite item. Lots of tender, crispy pork on a cloud soft bun. Yum! I will definitely return if in the area.

I love Indian food, but I was not sure how my best friend would like it. We were seated for dinner and the owner waited on us himself. I described some of my favorite dishes without use of the menu and told him that this would be my best friends first experience with Indian food. After a pleasant conversation, he made recommendations, and we enjoyed every bite. I was very excited to find my usually picky friend loving every offering. We took what was left of the 3 different kinds of naan I ordered and we cherished every bite. The chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and the chick peas are not to be missed. I have since taken two other Indian food virgins to this delectable restaurant and the owner again and again sees me and comes to discuss and provides items to the delight of everyone. It is not to be missed. My best friend keeps the receipt in her purse so she can order her favorites! We have been told the buffet is amazing, plentiful with variation, but we always go for dinner. It's a 90 minute drive from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, but worth every second. Bring an empty stomach and don't skip a single course. read more

For now they are only serving lunch and dinner buffet while they ramp up to a full menu in the coming months, but no worries because the buffet is phenomenal. You won't find any generic cheap buffet filler here like chicken wings and motzerella sticks. It's 100% great Indian deliciousness. A cold yogurt bar with lots of toppings and spices and a hot curry bar with around half a dozen vegetable curry offerings and 3 or 4 meat offerings. The daal is fantastic and just the right amount of spicyness for me and the palak paneer is similarly fantastic. I could literally eat these two dishes alone every day and probably not get tired of them. The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed with the amount of business but they are extremely friendly and accommodating. I went around 7pm to pick up two to-go buffets and they were extremely helpful (and needlessly apologetic that they weren't up to a full menu yet). Food is very reasonably priced as well. Dinner buffet was around $10, comparable to most other local places and far, far more better. My highest possible recommendation read more

I have only been living in Hattiesburg for two years. I come from Southaven and there are not many options for Indian cuisine up there, so I was fairly surprised to find an Indian restaurant down here. I have never gotten to try Indian food before now but I always wanted to try it. So when I say that this is an amazing way to start off trying Indian food I mean it. The menu doesn't overwhelm you with options and it gives you great descriptions of what you are ordering if you are not familiar. I decided to try their chicken vindaloo for my first visit and it was delicious. For just fifteen dollars you get great quality for what you paid for. The Mango Lassi is also a very refreshing drink that I believe pairs well with all their meals. The service is also amazing. The hosts and server were very attentive and quick so there wasn't much of a wait at all. This restaurant is very much authentic in every way. read more

If I could give this place 11,437,529,003 stars, I'd complain that there weren't more stars to give. I was actually headed elsewhere to get dinner for myself and a friend when I happened across it yesterday, but how could I pass up a chance at Indian cuisine?!? I went in to get a bag of takeout and I was treated like royalty from the moment I walked through the door. The host (I think he may have been the owner, as his voice matched the radio ad I heard today) followed me to a table and went over the menu with me to describe the dishes and pretty much ordered the entire meal for me. We couldn't have been any happier with what he chose for us. My only complaint is it's so hard to stop eating once I'm full. I just nearly ate myself to death last night. read more

What a fantastic restaurant! The food is amazing, the wait staff is great and the quality is outstanding! I have been to mush older and established Indian restaurants, and had many Indian meals, but none of them even comes close to Indian Delight. My meal consisted of the vegetarian appetizers (Samosa, paneer pakora, veggie pakora and tikki), and for my entree I had Gosht Curry. The lamb was seasoned perfectly and the Basmati was excellent. I followed up with a dessert of Gajar Halwa (Carrot Pudding). This place is fantastic, and I hope everyone who reads this review stops in and tries the food. If you are a fan of Indian cuisine, do yourself a favor and stop by. You won't be disappointed. read more

Not from Indian so can't comment on the "authenticity" but I do know Hattiesburg well and this restaurant is unique for Hattiesburg and the food is good. As others have said, they seem a bit overwhelmed at the moment and have some problems with supply/demand but I'm sure they'll get it worked out. In the meantime, it's still worth the minor inconvenience. I just hope they get the actual menu soon so I can order the dishes I love rather than having to throw myself to the whims of the buffet (which is still admittedly generally pretty good). I recommend putting buttered chicken, saag and daal on the buffet everyday! At least until I can order them from a menu. read more

The service was excellent, and the food was better. I can't fault the staff for the slow service. They're down some people, but once we were able to put in our order the food came fast!! It was excellent and the staff were very nice, helpful and informative. They have so many things to make it feel authentic right down to the rose water bowls they bring out so that you can wash your hands clean after the meal. I had the lamb in a creamy tomato and onion sauce with bell peppers in it. It was excellent! The chicken naan bread was amazing. I can't tell you how happy I am about this place. Seeing as Indian is my favorite type of cuisine, I was really excited when this place opened. My advice is to not get the lunch buffet, as you really only get the best experience if you order something fresh off of the menu (Make sure to order naan, which is especially soft and fluffy here). I've tried a good bit of Indian and this really ranks up there. The Korma was creamy, rich, and filling. The vindaloo was awesome. Everything I've ever had was great. This place was just the loveliest! Great atmosphere, kind servers, and the food was beautiful. My mom had never tried Indian food before (she doesn't like spice or the smell of curry) but NOW she wants to make this our regular place! It smells lovely when you first walk in, they have good hearty serving sizes, well priced, everything fresh and tons and tons of veggies options (I'm vegan). I can remember having to travel for indian food. New Orleans, West Monroe, Houston. Indian Delight is a treasure! I simply cannot express what a delight (literally) it is to have this in Hattiesburg. The menu is spectacular. They got it right when they named this place. Every dish is wonderful and always cooked to perfection. We unfortunately live in a location that has limited food choices, all fast food basically, so in order to eat Indian food we have to drive 2 hrs to Baton Rouge, 1 1/2 hr. to New Orleans or 1 hr. to Hattiesburg, not only is the Buffett at Indian Delight delicious and fresh but the service is wonderful and we look forward to the road trip just for the wonderful food. It would be hard to choose a best dish because they've all been excellent, but the murg korma (chicken in almost sauce), tandoori shrimp and lamb dishes are all favorites of our.
