I have had two experiences with Maclin Plumbing related to one issue. The technician that came out (I believe a previous poster also had this experience) was helpful and friendly, but the person that handles dispatch is incredibly rude, condescending and unhelpful. I had an issue in which the tech came out, gave me advice and referred me to an electrician. I called an electrician, but he told me his services wouldn't help me and encouraged me to go back to the plumber. Imagine my surprise when I called Maclin and asked some follow up questions and was spoken to in the most rude way! I will NEVER use this company again. read more

I had contacted American Home Shield concerning a leaking toilet that turned into a rusted out flange. I was contacted by Maclin for come out to me home. I looked up reviews on yelp before the company came to my home since I have my own plumber, but since the house was under warranty I thought I would try using American Home Shield. I join the ranks of all the 1 stars and have to say this was such a waste of time and money. I might as well have mailed a check to American Home Shield for doing absolutely nothing at least it would have spared my family the time trying to meet up with these people for two days. After seeing the toilet was removed they stated there was nothing for them to look at and that the rusted flange was paint. Unless something is completely broken and doesn't function it wasn't worth their time and money to repair. Because we had already removed the toilet they didn't see a problem with a rusted/leaking flange in my floor. They came and left doing absolutely nothing. They didn't charge me the $75 service fee because we were furious. Then American Home Shield contacted me stating I had to pay the $75 service fee and MacLin did not have the authority to waive the fee. If I didn't pay the $75 I could loose my warranty or face collection. I would not recommend this company even if I wasn't using the home warranty. read more

The guys are nice and seem competent but, holy cow, they need a lot of hand-holding. It doesn't matter if they are good if you can't get them out to your house. Apparently, you have to repeatedly confirm that you really really really are going to be there for their appointment. This, apparently takes 3-4 promptly answered phone calls. If they have to leave a message just once you are screwed. You do not deserve the courtesy of a second phone call. So, if, say, you rearrange your entire work day to accommodate them but miss their phone call, you will have to rearrange another work day when they bother to have their office set up another time to come out. How much confirmation does a company need? No other professional needs this many assurances. What is so hard about trying to call me twice AFTER I already confirmed I would be home waiting anxiously for them to arrive? read more

I agree with the previous reviewers that this company is unprofessional with poor customer service and communication. The dispatcher was unfriendly, unhelpful, and argumentative. They are also inaccurate and dishonest about the work that needs to be done. I had to call 3 times to find out whether they would be able to come out on a certain day. The dispatcher kept saying he was waiting to hear back from the plumber. It literally took all day and 3 calls to get an answer. The first time they came out they said they weren't able to do the work because they had to make a hole in the wall to fix it and didn't have the right tools. I wasn't thrilled about damaging the wall, but said ok. Then prior to them actually coming out the second time, they called and say no, actually they have to TAKE OUT THE ENTIRE TUB to fix the problem. Now how they decided they needed to do that out of the blue without actually coming back and trying less drastic methods I have no idea. It was like they just decided they wanted to fix things in the most destructive and expensive way possible. I also was referred to them through my home warranty company and asked for a different plumbing company. And surprise, surprise, these guys were able to fix the issue without making a hole in the wall OR taking out the tub. I would strongly recommend you take your business elsewhere. read more

Shockingly bad customer service. This company has been out multiple times to fix the same problem with our water heater.During the course of our relationship they have managed to create drama between my husband and our landlord.At one point they told our landlord they suspected my husband was tampering with the water heater to create the problem. The problem has returned and we attempted multiple times to reach them to inquire if the service was under warranty.When I finally reached a rep he said he would check on that and return my call.He did not return the call.When I called back to check on the warranty the man on the phone asked when the unit was serviced.I replied"about six months ago."He then said that I should just get a new unit.Remarkably astute assessment skills from behind a desk. I felt compelled to write this review as their service is offensive at best.Try Frank at Acker Plumbing in Leander.He was amazing! Just received a great service call from Matt from MacLin Plumbing. I called yesterday via American Home Shield for a Garbage Disposal that was not performing very well. Matt showed up the same morning and diagnosed the problem quickly. This resulted in him having to order us a new disposal. We had the disposal the next day and Matt had it installed in less than 20 Minutes. Great job and outstanding service. Definitely recommend them and will request by name next time we have a plumbing issue. read more

I received a bill for services not rendered. The plumber showed up with a defective pressure gauge and did not return.

Unfortunately, our home has CPVC plumbing (aka: cheap brittle plastic). During one of Austin's few freezing nights we had a rupture in our garden hose line. My wife called an emergency plumbing service for weekend work, but they ended up making the problem worse resulting in a weekend without water. Since CPVC is brittle, you need someone with experience to work on this type of plumbing. MacLin came out and took care of our situation in a personable and professional manner. I have since used their services and have been nothing but 100% satisfied with the company....I would highly recommend them for any plumbing issues you encounter. read more

Absolutely not!!! Referred by American Home Shield they never responded. Had to call and get another referral and was scheduled for the next day. We had to wait a whole extra day and it's not like a plumbing issue can wait that long. Even American Home Shield could not get them on their emergency number. read more

I set up an appt through my home warranty for a Saturday from 11-1. I was home and had my phone the entire time. I called to inquire about the appt around 1255 on Saturday when I hadn't heard anything but they were closed so I left a message. I called Monday morning and they said the tech left a voicemail and stopped by the house. I told the operator this want true as I was completely available the entire time and he said he'd get back to me- never did, didn't apologize. Terrible customer service. Needless to say I called my home warranty company for a new plumbing company as my problem has exacerbated since Saturday. Here's hoping the next company understands customer service. read more

I wish I could give them a better review but I can't. They first came to my home for two repairs in May. One a broken kitchen faucet and the other a leaky tub faucet. They did show up during the appointed time and fixed both issues. Seemed knowledgeable and efficient. A month later my kitchen faucet broke again, same issue. I called them direct but NEVER got a return phone call. Called the home warranty service and they issued a service ticket. No one ever called or showed up and I found out they (MacLin Plumbing) had cancelled the ticket. Called it in again, this time they did show up, pretended to put the faucet back in then proceeded to tell me it was stripped and couldn't be fixed......didn't offer to install a new one, just left. I had asked on the initial visit if it was possible the faucet was stripped or not repairable, they said it was fine, (obviously not). If they had taken the time to return the call to me direct , ask me what the problem was, I am sure they could have ascertained the faucet would need replaced. IN THAT CASE, I would have contracted them to purchase and install a new kitchen faucet for me. Instead they cancelled my service ticket, wasted my time and theirs by pretending to fix the problem and lost the opportunity to make money. I will not use them again nor recommend them to others. read more

Terrible customer service do everything you can to avoid this company. They came out tore my sink apart and refused to come back and fix it when they said they could not find the part. Poor customer service - unfriendly, condescending attitude on the phone. They were supposed to come out between 1-3 pm and to call beforehand. They didn't call the right number they were asked to call so we never got their voice mails. By the time I called to check on when they were coming, it was too late to send someone out. I give two stars simply because the guy who called me was extremely professional. But the plumber came to fix a toilet and a shower leak. Toilet took three visits and lost time at work for me. The shower is still leaking but the toilet finally got replaced. On top of that , they didn't clean up after themselves . Shower was horrible when I got home and everything they moved wasn't put back in place when they left. read more

We found a mystery leak in our bedroom floor. After reading the reviews on Angie's List, I contacted MacLin Plumbing. Jerry came out the same day we called him and was very reassuring and helpful. He diagnosed the issue, temporarily stopped the flow, and fixed the problem two days later by capping off the hot water line and rerouting it through the attic. He and his helper could not have been easier or more pleasant to work with. Jerry's depth of experience and sense gave me confidence in his work.( This stands in contrast to some other experiences I have had with plumbers.) All the clean-up was done well. Jerry graciously accepted my Angie's List coupon. He even reseated a toilet that needed a new wax ring without charging for it. As my insurance company had no problem covering the bill, I conclude that MacLin's charge was reasonable for the work done. Finally, I have a trustworthy plumber, should I need one again, and a plumber that I can recommend. read more

What a bummer! I used them once before for a water heater issue, the tech that came out was awesome! So I am highly disappointed after having such a great experience before. So I called on Monday to request an estimate and left a voicemail. No return call. I called back on Tuesday, end of day, they answered I told them my needs and they said they would come out Wednesday between 3-5 for an estimate. They never showed up!! I called at 5:30 and left a voicemail asking what happened and did I maybe miss hear the day, even tho I knew I didn't I was trying to be nice and giving them an out. Now today it is 4:30 and I never even received a call saying sorry we missed the estimate, let's reschedule or something. They are radio silent! No show, no call means I will never call them again! Unlike others here that needed plumbing work through their home warranty (AHS for me), I thought their service was outstanding. They called me, set up an appointment, showed up on time, and got the job done. What more could you ask for? Unfortunately for me, I needed many things done that weren't covered by my home warranty, so I ended up paying more money - but you can't fault this company for that. I have been using MacLin Plumbing for several years now. They first came to my house, in Christmas 2010. A pipe busted in my laundry room and island. They came in told me the problem, made the smallest holes in my sheet rock and taped it back together. I had babies, and didn't want them reaching into a hole in the wall. Jerry and Matt have been my plumbers since that day. They have repaired bad drain work that my contractor did, when he installed my bathtub. They just replaced my water heater. They have been out three times to fix my kitchen faucet. Jerry just came for the 3rd time. A piece was broken in my faucet he replaced it and didn't charge me. I only paid him for the first visit when he replaced the cartridge. These guys are awesome! They get to me quick, they are very honest, and have down to earth prices. These are the only guys I call to fix my plumbing problems. read more

My home warranty company assigned MacLin plumbing to come out to search for a plumbing leak, either external or in the slab. I was concerned due to some reviews I had read and I also had already had two plumbing companies out who could not help. I have to say that Matt of MacLin Plumbing was prompt, polite, and, best of all, knowledgeable about how to determine if there was a leak and where it was located. Will not recommend this company. I took half a day off and waited for them during the scheduled window. Never got a call for 1.5 hours into the schedule window. So, called them and the person who picked up said I have to wait since the window is not over yet. Then got a call in 15 saying they have dispatched a technician. Waited Had to go pick up my kid from school so as a courtesy, called them that I will be back in 10 min which I did. The person got that as an excuse for not attending to the plumbing work. When I called them back to let them know I was back, they would not pick up the phone. So called the warranty company to bring this up with them, they mentioned I had to pay additional charges since they called it as I wasn't home during the scheduled window. read more

They arrived on time and worked quickly and repaired the problem, and another problem for no extra charge. They explained exactly what they did and showed me their work. I want to alert anyone considering to use this plumber to consider someone else. We were assigned this company through our Home Warranty. I had a scheduling conflict twice due to my profession. I called well in advance to reschedule and asked for a Saturday. I was told Saturday on 11/7 from 8 -10 AM. Perfect. I will take it. I was told a technician would call me when they were on their way. Saturday had no one call, I left several messages on their answering machine and even found them on Facebook which allowed me to message them from there. Spoke to Danny today I think(he had me on speaker phone and was hard to hear). Denied ever having agreed to this appointment, lacked customer service and empathy towards an assigned customer. His arrogance was very prominent when he said," What do you want to do." I said contact Yelp, Angie's List, BBB and our Home Warranty Company to let them know how unprofessional and uncourteous you are to your customers. No remorse at all but a comment of go ahead. The kicker came when he had the audacity to ask, "Do you want to reschedule or not?" Thank you for having zero empathy and taking four hours of my weekend. read more

I have to say this is the most unprofessional plumbing company I have ever dealt with. These guys are contract via American Home Shield. Our water heater began leaking. The plumber came out and looked at it and said it needs to be replaced. He told my husband, your warranty company will contact you. There was some miscommunication about the payment owed on the service to get the replacement that my mother-in-law was trying to resolve. When she contacted the plumber to try to get it rescheduled the gentleman that answers the phone was extremely rude to her. She tried to explain to no avail what was happening. He continued to belittle her. Once everything got straightened out they finally agreed to come back out two days later (yes my water heater is still leaking). He stated it would be between 8-12. That morning I they called me and said the plumber was on his way. I therefore contacted my husband (he works nights) that he was on his way. He got up when we hung up and went and opened the garage door and waited in the living room eating breakfast. An hour later he calls me saying the still no plumber. So I contacted them and once I stated who I was he rudely stated that they had been there and left. I told him that my husband had been waiting since he called me that they were on the way. He proceeded to rudely explain that he showed up, banged on the door and rang the door bell for 15 min. I told him that never happened because my husband had been waiting on him. He said the plumber left a card (which he did). That may have been but he did not knock (or bang as he stated), even if my husband hadnt been up my dog (basset hound) wouldve barked and whined hearing the noise. From that point he stated they were no longer going to service us since it was their 4th attempt (no it wasnt). He proceeded to yell about how we refused to pay them the other day and other issues that did not happen. Not once did he allow me to speak. Once I had a chance I told him ok that I would take up the issue with the warranty company about their refusal to service the water heater and that I would file a complaint with the BBB as well. He immediately began to retaliate in which I just hung up the phone. My advise is if you have American Home Shield tell them not to schedule with Maclin Plumbing. All these other issues I see posted on here I wish I would've read this sooner. Good Luck! read more

I would not use MacLin Plubming in the future. The tech guy, Jerry, is very nice but the operator of the business is terrible. They gave me a two hour window of 9-11 on a weekday. I waited and waited. 11am had come and gone and when I contacted them, I asked how much longer it would be (as I had to get to work). The operator told me that he doesn't call people on the job to tell them to hurry up as I wouldn't want calls made to Jerry when he is over at my house. I wasn't asking the guy to contact Jerry to tell him to hurry up but rather to determine how much longer it would be as I didn't want to wait another hour in vain, nor did I want to leave when he would have shown up in 10 minutes. WHEN a plumber is RUNNING LATE, it's perfectly reasonable to get a new estimated time for the waiting customer and I don't think this guy understood that. I will not be using them ever again and would discourage my friends from doing the same. read more

This company, which may be just one man and a truck, is the most unprofessional, rude and lazy I have encountered in my 18 years working in the field of construction. Given the number of one star reviews that I encountered after dealing with the owner, I'm not alone in my experience. The owner, James (who will not give you is last name??), came for a service call on my hot water heater. He missed the two hour window allotted, which happens. However, seemed not the least bit concerned or apologetic. He would not properly inspect the issue we were having. He left after three minutes and proved to be insulting and misogynistic in that short time. I happen to be remodeling a structure next to the one with the hot water issue. I had the plumber from that job site come over and take a look first since we had really stinky water. He tried to do a maintenance flush of the system to clean it out and discovered that there was thick sludge in the bottom of the tank so deep the clean out was clogged (a sure sign the corrosion was more than an anode rod). When Maclin Plumbing arrived, he said if the tank is not leaking, there is nothing wrong with it that could not be solved with maintenance. He then asked me to show him the corroded anode rod (it's in the tank). He thought I was some ignorant woman who doesn't know about plumbing and was going to prove it to me. I called him after he left and he was even more insulting on the phone. That kind of arrogance and impoliteness deserves no stars at all. read more

The first thing I liked; they gave me a 2 hour window and arrived during it both times they came out. Second thing; James gave me a 30 minute courtesy call each time to let me know that Jerry was on his way. Our home warranty company sent MacLin out after we called regarding a lot of leaky problems and a clogged line. Jerry came out and diagnosed all problems. He called the home warranty company to make sure that all repairs would be covered. They gave him a little push back on one item, but he fought for us and got it covered. One repair was to replace our kitchen faucet. He could have installed a more bottom of the barrel faucet but gave us a credit towards the faucet of our choosing, came out the following weekend to install, and didn't charge us a second trip fee. Jerry is very friendly yet professional. We were extremely pleased with both visits and are happy to say that we now have a plumber we can trust. :) read more

Where to start? Two weeks ago I had 2 plumbing problems for which I called my homeowner's plan for service. They sent this company to assess sluggishly flushing toilets in both bathrooms, no actual blockage/serious problem at that time, and what turned out to be an unlit pilot light on the hot water heater. The technician explained that the light probably went out during a period of very high winds we had in the city the day before and relit the pilot. He told me to call back and use the trip number from the invoice if there were further problems with these items within 60 days. Well, 2 weeks later I once again had no hot water AND one of the toilets became badly blocked that same night. It was Thanksgiving eve so I waited to call American Home Shield on Friday, the day after the holiday. I expected I would get a call from MacLin on Monday with a service call late Monday or even on Tuesday. On Sunday morning I had a call from a technician asking if he could come out to fix the problems. It turned out to be one of the owners(!) of the company who was apologetic for not coming out the day before-on Saturday(!!!). He didn't like the idea that I would be without hot water and have a clogged toilet for so long, it seems. He replaced the mechanism which lights the pilot with a new kit so that it wouldn't be accessible to wind gusts via the ceiling of the hot water heater closet AND he used a rotary device to unblock and grind the toilet "innards" to stop debris from adhering to the sides of the drainage system. All of this for NO second service fee and no out of pocket costs AND the gentleman was friendliness and courtesy itself. This company epitomizes customer service and many, many businesses could take lessons from them. I'll happily be a repeat customer. read more

These guys are fantastic! We have used their service twice and both times they were very professional, came out on a short notice, and did a quality job. We first heard about these guys through our home warranty service when we had a broken pipe on the water softener. We were so pleased with how fast they came out, we called on them again when we had a broken sprinkler pipe on a old system we weren't even using. We just bought the home a few months ago and the shut off valve was buried and we had no idea where it was. The broken pipe was causing flooding in the front yard about a foot from the house. We first thought we had to fix the broken pipe costing over $700.00, but Matt went out of his way for about 30 min searching the ground for the shut off valve. Once he found it and shut off the valve for us, a $700 job ended up costing $89! You don't usually find a plumber willing to spend that much time trying to save you money! We recommend this company to anyone who needs a good HONEST, professional and competent plumber. read more

The issue I have is semi-frequent (but not every time) backups in the toilet. I had another company "find" a blockage but their quote to fix seemed high, so I went for a second opinion. I used my Home warranty service who assigned these guys. I explained the situation to Maclin, they came and did a flush test.. Ie.. I flushed, they watched the water thru the outside cleanout/ They came back in and said there was no issue, therefore nothing to fix. I asked them to run a camera to the spot that the other plumber said there was blockage.. They said no, that wasn't in their scope of work. Their guy wouldn't even stay until I finished the call to the HWS to get authorization for the test.. he just left...#RUDE #UNPROFESSIONAL. I called the warranty service and made an arrangement that I would pay for that test up front, but if the blockage was found (like plumber #1 said), that the fix would be done and both the fix and test costs would be covered on my home warranty. Maclin wouldn't return phone calls and when the HWS called them, they refused the job saying they didn't want to get involved with something that seemed fishy.. WTH? I will never use these guys again and suggest that you don't either. #As****E read more

Called Old Republic Home Protection about a stoppage in a double vanity sink and they sent out MacLin Plumbing. Once the plumber arrived I showed him the sink with stoppage and without trying anything made the diagnosis that he would have to cut out the drywall on the other side of the wall (guest bedroom) in order to get to the stoppage in the "T". Keep in mind the other sink was fine. The other option would have been to use a serpentine from the vent hose on the roof. He said they don't do anything on tile roofs. I can respect that but don't understand how he can make such a quick diagnosis without even trying to clear the stoppage. The plumber didn't even look at the plumbing underneath the sink. He just said that he ran into this last week and this is what he had to do. Furthermore, he said he didn't know if the home warranty protection would cover the drywall so he said he would call it in, excused himself, and took off in his van. Never saw him or anyone else from MacLin. Never bothered to collect any money either. Called Old Republic Home Protection and asked to have another plumber come out and they wanted to charge me for having a second opinion. I let them know that there really wasn't any diagnosis done the first time. They called the plumber and he let them know at that time his diagnosis. Well I ended up removing the elbow from underneath the sink myself and clearing the drain. Sink works fine now. read more
