I hadn't been here in awhile but this week I had another computer problem - a broken key. I'm here to tell you that nothing has changed since my last review - still a great company. Sam is a smart guy and he was able to take my MacBook and fix the key while I waited. I was there about 20 minutes. It wasn't busy. I initially was happy with the service of my Apple MacBook Pro, I spilled liquid on my keyboard and it needed to be replaced. JUST the KEYBOARD but I was informed that they were shipped a silver keyboard and not a rose gold. I said fine I didn't care, when I picked up my computer they said that they replaced my battery because it wasn't charging correctly. This was where it went wrong. I didn't authorize the replacement but I said okay if you felt it was a problem. My computer now dies at 55% and shuts down, It NEVER did that before, I am so unhappy with this company. It was the Lake Pleasant location in Peoria. I am sooooo unhappy, I need to get a new computer because it is completely unreliable and I use it for work. It is only 3 years old and it was just fine. Twice, I have gone to MacMedia for a battery for a Macbook Air. The first time was for an original Macbook Air, and Apple told me the batteries were no longer available. Somehow, MacMedia was able to replace the battery without an issue. The second time was last week. Apple told me they could replace the battery, but it would take up to 10 business days. I called MacMedia from the Apple store, confirmed they had the battery (this is a 2019 Macbook Air), dropped it off on Saturday afternooon and picked it up Monday morning. I asked how I could better maintain battery life, and they were able to help me with that as well. The guys there have always been super helpful, respectful, and seem knowledgeable. read more

Sam was amazing. I brought in my son's iPad for repair because I thought the lightning port was damaged. Turns out part of the lightning cable was stuck inside. It took him 1 minute to get it out and iPad is working perfectly now. Extremely professional and polite, hard to find good businesses like these. I took in a laptop with a battery issue, they ran about 30 seconds of tests before saying it couldn't be fixed even though it's a six-month old laptop under warranty because the battery looked fine on their end, but I could leave it there for five to seven days for it to not be replaced under warranty. Then they tried to convince me that it's normal to have your battery drain in two hours if you're a "heavy user," recommended getting a new laptop, and tried to sell me a three-year warranty. For what? Pretty sure them wasting my time and not fixing anything is already free. (In response to the inaccurate comments in the reply to this, I'm editing the review to add that they never offered to do further diagnostics, just to redo the work we'd already done, and that I never expected my computer to be swapped out. Luckily, Apple was able to run the tests that MacMedia was unable to.) Again, I'd recommend going to a Genius Bar, though the phone support with screen share with Apple was also far more helpful to me than MacMedia was. read more

My MacBook Pro needed a new battery ( the old one was 10yrs old ) so I took it down to MacMedia early in the morning. I had already purchased a battery online and just needed them to install it. About 3 hours later I got a call that it was done and ready to be picked up. This is the second time I needed MacMedia to fix something and the were right on point. DON'T OPEN FILES FROM THIS COMPANY--THEY ARE CORRUPT! I paid MACMEDIA over $250 for a site visit to resolve some tech issues on my IMac. The tech resolved the issue and send a PDF (digital) invoice. I paid the invoice immediately then saved the file on my hard drive. This file was corrupt and has been causing MASSIVE synching issues with my computer! I even had to pay a different tech to figure out how to remove this file. He could not remove the infected file. Today I called the manager at the Scottsdale store asking for help to remove the corrupt file that their office sent. His 'solution' for help was A) I drive my computer to their offices for evaluation (inconvenient, times consuming and expensive) B) They would send a tech to my home office (at my expense!!!!) I am taking the time to describe this very disappointing example of TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and disregard for loyalty. If you own an Apple computer --don't use this company. If you own a business, this is WHAT NOT TO DO! Sending corrupt files to customers and not providing the support to help is a clear indication this store needs new leadership. read more

I brought a 2016 Macbook in for a defective keyboard repair that, according to Apple's own website, was to be completely free and paid for by Apple. After a quick evaluation, the technician gave me a litany of things they needed to be done--none of which were going to be paid for by Apple--and that my cost would be just under $900! When I mentioned it was just a few keys on the keyboard that were acting up and that Apple's own website states the repair would be free based on my Macbook model and serial #, he told me they'd have to do a detailed evaluation that would cost me $95. A few minutes later, I talked to an Apple Store tech over the phone and he verified the repair should be free and set me up with an appointment at the nearest Apple Store for a few days away. MacMedia is very unscrupulous! I am already filing a complaint with Apple that they are attempting to bait-and-switch customers. Avoid this place even if it means waiting extra days for an appointment at an Apple Store. read more

These guys have high ratings and I can see why -- went in to troubleshoot a problematic Mac file structure issue. The tech came out from the back and walked me through a solution and recommended me not pay --- could have easily taken my money, gone into the back, fixed it and I would have been none the wiser. I'm writing this as I'm sitting in the store. Not a fan of this place. The work that they do is great. Where they lack is their customer service. I sat here and watched one of the associates ask a gentleman to wait while he checked out those picking up items. The gentleman was in line and next to be served. I don't think I've ever seen that happen in a retail store. Ask someone in like to wait while we take these other people because they are about to give us money. At the same time there was another lady having issues with her iPad and was in the phone with apple customer service. She was looking for help as she had an issue with her newly purchase item (bought from the store and opened this morning). They just said sorry we don't do returns after 7 days. As if Christmas wasn't just a few days ago and they know folks are returning gifts. The other associates just act very condescending about everything. As if you don't know anything about the items you buy. Smh. I truly wouldn't advise anyone to this place if you want great customer service. As for the techs that work on the computer. Their work is great. Hopefully the store front guys receive better customer service training as that'll be a way to keep customers coming back. For this to be my first experience, we won't be going back. And I'll also send a similar report to Apple so they know how service is given at one of their authorized dealers. read more

I had been struggling to delete files from my 12 year old iMac, which was literally frozen. I was referred to MacMedia by one of their well known competitors, who surprisingly didn't understand a Mac computer. My initial encounter at MacMedia was with Haidyn, who saw me struggling carrying the computer from the car and he came out to help me. I didn't even have an appointment but he immediately gave me several options and managed the situation within 10 minutes. Haidyn and his colleague were so professional and knowledgeable, which was amazing after my experience at their competitor where I waited for an hour and had not been offered any solutions. Spilled water all over my MacBook laptop, brought it in and they said they could attempt to fix it. They were able to take it apart and suck up all the water. To my surprise it was able to turn on - testing it at home a couple hours later and absolutely no problems at all! Stowman and the rest of the crew were so helpful and kind. I was in complete panic mode when my iPhone 11 went black! Being that I work predominantly through my iPhone this situation caused me quite the panic. Id like to personally recognize a staff member named John. Ill admit, I wasn't the easiest person to talk to when I came into MacMedia, John reassured me that they would do everything they could to help me out. Scheduled an Apple Repair, waited a week for the appointment only to arrive to be told they don't have the Iphone X battery in stock, but they will order it. I wanted 7 days for an update, no call. I called back and they had no record that it was ordered, he said he would order it immediately and call me in "a couple business days" well 5 days later still nothing. I walked into a competitor repair shop and had my phone fixed within an hour. Pandemic or not, don't let that be an excuse for bad customer service. read more

5-7 business days to replace the keyboard on a MacBook Pro? For those who need their laptop daily for their occupation this is terribly inconvenient. Once you have the keyboard in stock, how does it take any longer than 1 day to replace? If you do not have in stock, why not offer to call once the new keyboard has arrived so they can continue using in the meantime? Very frustrating for a customer who uses their laptop daily. Would appreciate some sort of response here and will gladly change my review rating to 5 stars if some reasoning is offered. Will always choose Apple store if the best MacMedia can do is 5-7 business days for a simple keyboard replacement. 5-7 business days for a simple computer repair is not competitive. Sad to say this place has really gone down hill the past year. Noticed in the photos posted, they still market themselves as an Authorized Apple Service Provider which is misleading since nothing they do is Authorized by Apple any longer. Nor are their parts genuine/OEM. However, if you are looking for cheap service this is the place for you. Honestly, probably better off at an Apple Store to save you time and money. read more

Came in here yesterday to fix my MacBook Air that was having some issues with downloading the software along with my husbands MacBook Pro that wasn't loading as quickly. The gentlemen that helped us ran diagnostics on both and informed us what the issues were. I was referred to Macmedia from the Fashion Square Apple Store. It seemed my older Apple computer was not worth repair. Yes, I finally gave in and bought a new Mac Book Pro. But what do I know about setup? I felt overwhelmed just thinking about the transfer of email accounts, pictures, documents. Apple was right! Macmedia is an authorized Apple go to company. I chose the in home service, which was great! I sat there and learned from the expert! Plus, the time it saved was unbelievable...reasonable too. When my grandson cracked his IPAD screen, my only thought was to go back to Macmedia. John, was very personable and helped with some of the setup. So efficient.
