    Phenomenal Hot Buttered Rum

Absolutely love the outdoor area little individual heaters for the tables next to the ladder they make their own hot buttered rum mix, which is phenomenal. Really enjoyed it. Nice quiet, peaceful. Service is was great as well

I wanted to try a new spot with the teen so we headed into Silverton and choose Mac's place. We were asked if we were both over 21 before being directed to the side of the restaurant away from the bar. Both areas had bar height tables, but we chose to sit at a dining table. It was chilly outside and there was a draft coming from people using the door behind us marked 'Please Use Other Door'. They have a pool table and a few video games and a pinball machine as well as a small stage for live music. The vibe is vintage country with photos of small unknown acts and photos of the region prior to its development. The menu was a flurry of American fare; sandwiches / wraps, burgers, nachos, salads, mac 'n cheese and pizza all done multiple ways. They also offer gluten free, vegan and kids options. If someone in your party can't find something they like, well, I guess they should pack their own. I'd been missing the pork nachos at my favorite Mexican restaurant back home and my mini was craving a salad and her favorite; mac 'n cheese. We compromised and got an order of chips & salsa, a Santa Fe salad + pulled pork, and a side of regular mac. While the pork was a bit sparse, it was cooked well and the salad was large enough to share. It came with avo, grilled corn and tortilla chips (I added black olives). I asked for another plate so we could split everything. The mac and cheese was good, more buttery than creamy. We enjoyed our visit and filled a couple of eco-friendly take out containers. I'd like to go back and check out the nightlife. It has good energy.

In town for the week and got back late from a hiking trip. Mac's place was the only food joint still open so we grabbed a bite. It's a dark sorta dive bar vibe when you go in. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The full bar was nice and the drinks and beers were priced well. However the food.... Not great. The pizza definitely looks like a frozen Totino's pizza. The fried avocado was pretty decent but also reminiscent of a take home and bake appetizer from the freezer section. I would definitely come back for a drink and a game of pool. But have dinner elsewhere first.

Can't beat the creekside ambience which captures the Silverton experience perfectly. Beer selection is small but good. Will be back next visit for the live entertainment. Western bar vibe inside. Perfect to wind down in the local spirit.

Of the all the bars we visited in Silverton (and I think we went to almost all of them in this little town), Mac's Place had the most decent food options. Plus they have an awesome back patio overlooking the river, which was really nice. It's a good, affordable local dive bar and it does the job well. Our server was also super nice and friendly, despite it being very busy. Kudos to her for great service and having a sense of humor. This a good spot for people watching. For food I had the Turkey Reuben and fries, which came with a delicious spicy raspberry ketchup. My friends pizza was quite good too - she did pesto and shrimp. Our drinks were good - we had a couple draft beers and some Irish coffees. I'd definitely come back when visiting again.

$17 shrimp wrap with no side.

Ladies and gentlemen, please say hello to $17 worth of food. No sides included. Pretty pathetic for a slow bar in Silverton. Makes me sad because I do like everything else about this place. But I'm sorry, sides should be included for that price.

Beers and shots over the creek

This place gets high marks for their amazing patio! Beautiful wood patio with tables right along the creek so you can sit and enjoy a drink, some food, good conversation and an amazing view. Plus there are heaters at each table so why would anyone want to sit inside? We had a great server who willingly engaged in conversation when we asked SSOOO many questions about the area. We only had beer, a shot and some garlic cheese bread so I can't really rate the food (psst...psst...order the garlic cheese bread - it's SO GOOD!) In the back of the bar are five gaming machines (slot machines) set in a little private area. Did we walk out winners? Nope. Did we walk out richer for our experience at Mac's Place? You betcha!

Stopped here for lunch during my Oregon road trip and it was amazing! Small town but this was definitely a gem. Jordan was a great and friendly server! The food was amazing! Definitely recommend! 11/10

    Brisket Nachos.
    Chris E.

What a great gem in Silverton. Casual, over 21 bar and restaurant. Plenty of indoor seating, along with outside, deck seating. Full bar. Well staffed and fun and friendly employees. Nice menu with lots of options, including gluten free choices. We shared the Brisket Nachos and it was absolutely delicious and very generous. Prices good for quality and options. We would definitely stop again when in the area. Only one, tiny complaint that their hours aren't correct on some of the search engines. Beyond that, all good.

Very old building. Lots of history. Tacos were WAY overpriced for what we got. Beers ok. Bathrooms were a war zone.

The tables were clean and well kept, and the use of "half umbrellas" against the side of a building was a thoughtful touch. We were seated right away, and our drink orders taken right away. Our server did an excellent job, although he apologized for not coming back in time to bring me another Black Butte Porter (which I didn't plan to refill, anyway; even though it was excellent on tap). We placed an order for the "Bavarian Pretzel" appetizer, which was advertised to have a "mustard sauce" with it, and we also paid extra for their "Queso Cheese Dip". The bread itself was quite delicious, but the mustard sauce was just honey mustard salad dressing (disappointing), and the cheese appeared to be melted processed pepper jack cheese. The cheese dip was good with the bread, but we had a lot of dip leftover after the 3 pieces of bread. For a main course, I went with the Spicy Jalapeno Burger, but opted for Crispy Chicken, instead of a hamburger patty. The burger was massive, and consisted of multiple crispy chicken tenders, instead of one large chicken patty -- which is all good, but did make it tricky to eat, as the multiple pieces wanted to slide around. It was very good, but I think I would try the actual burger next time. I chose French fries for my side, and was disappointed that they were "battered" fries, which are not my favorite. The portion was also a little on the skimpy side. I would definitely come back again, even if there are a few small things that keep me from giving top marks.

Music was excellent; audible but not intrusive. Comfy chairs. Lower lighting, well placed. Service was excellent, friendly and fast. I think our server's name was Mikayla; a gem. Attentive and observant but never intrusive. Drinks: my old fashioned was absolutely perfect and my husband's margarita was fine. Appetizers: beer cheese was well balanced and a bit runny, which I prefer over the library paste version some places serve. The elotes dip was a standout, mildly spicy, with lime in the cilantro, and warm, crispy chips. (Whatever is in their seasoning for chips and fries should be sold separately -- I wanted to try it on everything.) We probably should have stopped there, as the portions were abundant, but our mains were amazing. Smash burger was insanely juicy, nice and onion-y with a few Crunchy Brown Bits around the edges. The roll was fresh and tender, with a good crust; flavorful, not just a shingle. The fries were the best I've had in Salem. Get the garlic-thyme upgrade; you won't regret it. My ribeye was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately they were out of both compound butters, apparently due to a busy Friday, but everything was well seasoned. The vegetable of the day was roasted Brussels sprouts with a sweet-and-salty sauce, almost like kettle corn; amazing. The outer leaves were caramelized without being burned, and the hearts were tender but not mushy. Crispy fried onions were perfect. Fried potatoes were fine, and enriched by their placement between the steak and the sprouts. The diners who came in before us were all smiles when they left, so it wasn't a fluke. Can't wait to come back!

That said, I wanted to share my experience in the hopes it's taken as constructive feedback. I brought my niece and her partner, who are visiting from Georgia, to this spot after a beautiful day at Silver Falls. We were hungry and looking forward to relaxing with some drinks and food. We initially sat at the 21+ section, but had to move since one of us forgot their ID. Totally understandable. Before heading downstairs, the employee asked to see my niece's ID. Since she's from out of state, they also asked to see her debit/credit card to verify her name. While I get the caution, it did feel a bit unusual--especially since we hadn't ordered yet. It made me wonder what would've happened if she only had cash. Downstairs, we were greeted by a new server who seemed... off. Not necessarily rude, but distant, as if they didn't want to be there or didn't really want to engage with us. We ordered drinks and food--drinks were great! But food took about 30-35 minutes, which we understood. What was odd was the service flow. Our server came back to ask if we were ready for the bill... but we hadn't gotten our food yet. Eventually, another employee brought our plates and asked if we needed anything else. We asked for forks, but they never came back. When I asked someone again, our original server casually mentioned that utensils were still being washed--no reassurance or clear follow-up. It just felt like, "Oh well." My niece ended up asking for plastic utensils, and instead we were handed wet metal forks. We dried them ourselves and ate. The server didn't check on us again until the very end, and by that point, we just wanted the check and to go. The food itself was really good--but overall, the atmosphere just didn't feel warm or welcoming. I truly hope this feedback helps. The place has potential, and I'd love to give it another try someday, but this visit left us with mixed feelings.
