They have some seriously delicious sandwiches, and I've tried a variety of them, but my go-to is always the Reuben. It never disappoints! The staff is always super friendly, which makes the experience even better. And they have a really nice patio right next to the river, making it such a great spot to sit, eat, and enjoy the scenery. If you're in Silverton and looking for a good sandwich, definitely stop by Mac's Place!

Vibes were good, bartender/server was friendly. Reviews made it seem divey but lights weren't turned down low enough for to meet that criteria imo. A bit too cold/wet for us to eat/drink outside but sounds like that might be the place to be on a nicer nite. Menu was pretty extensive for the bar, maybe a bit pricey for what you get -- but the $2 draft beers on Thursday nites was a good deal that made up for that pretty well. I thought my turkey reuben was great; husband liked his steak wrap too (as seen in other reviews' photos comes out on a plate completely unadorned) and ate a bunch of my cajun fries. There was basketball on TV, a pool table, music. All in all a good place to start the vacation and enjoy a decent welcome to town.

The tables were clean and well kept, and the use of "half umbrellas" against the side of a building was a thoughtful touch. We were seated right away, and our drink orders taken right away. Our server did an excellent job, although he apologized for not coming back in time to bring me another Black Butte Porter (which I didn't plan to refill, anyway; even though it was excellent on tap). We placed an order for the "Bavarian Pretzel" appetizer, which was advertised to have a "mustard sauce" with it, and we also paid extra for their "Queso Cheese Dip". The bread itself was quite delicious, but the mustard sauce was just honey mustard salad dressing (disappointing), and the cheese appeared to be melted processed pepper jack cheese. The cheese dip was good with the bread, but we had a lot of dip leftover after the 3 pieces of bread. For a main course, I went with the Spicy Jalapeno Burger, but opted for Crispy Chicken, instead of a hamburger patty. The burger was massive, and consisted of multiple crispy chicken tenders, instead of one large chicken patty -- which is all good, but did make it tricky to eat, as the multiple pieces wanted to slide around. It was very good, but I think I would try the actual burger next time. I chose French fries for my side, and was disappointed that they were "battered" fries, which are not my favorite. The portion was also a little on the skimpy side. I would definitely come back again, even if there are a few small things that keep me from giving top marks.

The establishment is lovely; the decor is modern and clean with cute Wolfhound art featured throughout. We ordered the featured Jalapeño Popper Smash: two smash patties with habanero ghost pepper jack cheese, pomegranate bacon jam, cream cheese spread, serrano aioli, and pickled jalapeños on a toasted pretzel bun. While we waited, we sipped on a well cocktail. The burger was incredible--innovative and very well thought out. The service was prompt and engaging. I can really tell the staff has a passion for everything they do; it's very refreshing and definitely deserves a shot and repeated business!

Music was excellent; audible but not intrusive. Comfy chairs. Lower lighting, well placed. Service was excellent, friendly and fast. I think our server's name was Mikayla; a gem. Attentive and observant but never intrusive. Drinks: my old fashioned was absolutely perfect and my husband's margarita was fine. Appetizers: beer cheese was well balanced and a bit runny, which I prefer over the library paste version some places serve. The elotes dip was a standout, mildly spicy, with lime in the cilantro, and warm, crispy chips. (Whatever is in their seasoning for chips and fries should be sold separately -- I wanted to try it on everything.) We probably should have stopped there, as the portions were abundant, but our mains were amazing. Smash burger was insanely juicy, nice and onion-y with a few Crunchy Brown Bits around the edges. The roll was fresh and tender, with a good crust; flavorful, not just a shingle. The fries were the best I've had in Salem. Get the garlic-thyme upgrade; you won't regret it. My ribeye was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately they were out of both compound butters, apparently due to a busy Friday, but everything was well seasoned. The vegetable of the day was roasted Brussels sprouts with a sweet-and-salty sauce, almost like kettle corn; amazing. The outer leaves were caramelized without being burned, and the hearts were tender but not mushy. Crispy fried onions were perfect. Fried potatoes were fine, and enriched by their placement between the steak and the sprouts. The diners who came in before us were all smiles when they left, so it wasn't a fluke. Can't wait to come back!
