In October 2024, two Mac's Plumbing plumbers came to my house. I was replacing the tank kit in one of the toilets, but was unable to remove a bolt. I replace toilet tank kits myself and have done three over the past 4-5 years. I can't remember the names of the two plumbers who came to my house, but they were very understanding of my tight budget and removed the bolt. They did not try to sell me anything else. I should have asked for them on the next call. I would give them 5 Stars and a rave review. The reason for reducing to 3 Stars. Two months later, one of the bathroom faucets developed a leak. I had intended to repair it myself, thinking it might just need a new washer, but I could not turn the water off or remove the faucet. Two plumbers came; one quoted a price to replace the on/off valve for three sinks, so I had that done after checking the sinks to make sure I could not turn the water off myself. He then told me that the leaking faucet and a second faucet needed to be replaced with new faucets. He said the second faucet was leaking, but I did not see any leak before or after their visit. He quoted $450 per faucet if I provided the faucets and $675 per faucet if they offered them. I kept repeating that I could not afford any additional repairs, having already paid over $1,300 to have the valves replaced. He kept pushing to upsell me, saying the lines under the sink needed to be replaced as well. I thought, well, I can do that myself. I passed on the repairs and shut off the water to the one leaking sink. I am a generous tipper; I probably tipped them too much, but I was happy with the work and am glad I had it done. I decided not to use Mac's Plumbing in the future. Two weeks after their visit, I received my free Leakbot through my home insurance company. It monitors for leaks throughout the house and texts an alert if a possible leak is found. It did not alert to any potential leaks for the following year. In Dec 2025, I received an alert. After following instructions to see if I could identify the source (I could not), they sent a plumber out at no charge to me. He triple checked everything throughout the house and said there were no leaks. The Leakbot is very sensitive and would continue to monitor and alert if a potential leak was found. I told him what Mac's Plumbing told me in Dec 2024. The Leakbot plumber said that (1) these are Delta faucets, which have a lifetime warranty. If anything is wrong with the faucet, Delta will replace it at no charge, and with the same faucet if I prefer. There was no reason to replace the faucets. (2) The Leakbot plumber repaired the leak in the one faucet I stopped using with a $2.00 part (at no charge to me). (3) He said the lines under the sink are old, but given my tight budget, there was no reason to replace them unless there was a leak, which there was not. read more

I have owned an old house with old plumbing, for over ten years. Because of this, I've gotten to know several plumbers in Alexandria, VA. I grew up (far away) with my family in the trades, my Dad had his plumbing license; I appreciate talent when I spot it. Milton is a gifted plumber and a good honest businessman. I was such a fan of Milton and his work, that after using other plumbers over the years without as much satisfaction, I tracked him down! I was delighted to learn he had started his own plumbing business! Milton and his team continue to be conscientious of the customer's time and property, they kept us informed of when they would be arriving, they explained EVERYTHING and all of my options for repairs. The last time they were here, it only cost me for the call-out. They advised me on how I could either DIY the fix or have them take care of the small issue for me. I LOVE options. I do not have money to waste, but I know when I have to get a plumber and I want value for my hard-earned money. I continue to feel that with every call-out, Milton and his folks provide me with the most trustworthy plumbing solutions to some very tricky situations. As an aside, I've even photographed Milton's work, just to show my family how top-notch and professional his plumbing work looks!!! The folks he's got working for him, like Malcom and Juan, seem to be carefully vetted and selected by him and have the same professionalism he has. Plumbing is expensive because it is difficult work to do right; and plumbing breaks down at the most inconvenient times. If you find yourself needing a plumber, a call-out is going to be expensive, but Mac's Plumbing is still reasonable and fair. After reading some of the reviews, I got the feeling some customers took out anger over their situation, on these talented hard-working folks. Mac's is a solid and trustworthy plumbing business. They remain my go-to regarding any plumbing issues and I continue to recommend them to local friends and neighbors. read more

Charged me $200 to connect my washer-dryer hoses back to the wall (they were taken off to do some work on the wall behind, and unfortunately, the contractors didn't reconnect them). As a mom with a little baby with little sleep, and loads of laundry piling up, I turned to a professional to ask for help as my husband was stationed out on duty-travel, and I couldn't figure out how to do this simple task. I understand the need to charge for a service call, but this was literally a 5-min task. He got done and asked for $200. I asked him why it was so high, and he said it was part of a flat-fee to make a service call and then make the "repair". I was flabbergasted, since he didn't really repair anything but didn't want to argue with him and just paid him and sent him on his way. Will never call/engage this company again, it felt like a rip-off and just plain shady that he would charge so much. Looks like he's more worried about making money, than establishing a business relationship with his customer. read more

on 7-18-23 our hot water heater was leaking. We called at 1 pm. Mac's Plumbing came at 2 pm, left to get a new water heater. By 6 pm it was installed. The two workers - Juan and Geo - were very nice. They explained their work clearly and answered all of our questions. They made an effort to not track dirt into the house by laying down brown paper from our front door all the way down the basement stairs. I would use them again! read more

For our sewer repair, we got an 18k estimate from Micheals & Son and wanted a second opinon. Milton Chacon and his team at MAC's Plumbing did a fantastic job for less than half the price. They removed the toilet and ran a camera to locate the sewer line and find roots. They had the expertise to know it could not be a clean-cut to repair because piping kept crumbling so they broke the concrete floor and removed gravel and dirt to expose the line and found a strong, good connection to tie into the new repair with PVC piping, and tied into the outside sewer as well. Backfilled inside and patched concrete also backfilled outside as well. We were very impressed with the work ethic and knowledge shown and also speed and just likability. I liked how he used texting and email to communicate, too. We would definitely use them again! read more

I found Mac's plumbing via Google and can attest to all the positive reviews and accolades. I had a faucet repair and Milton was extremely knowledgeable, kind and explained how he went about repairing everything so that I myself was informed. During my appointment, Milton also noticed my toilet was making a strange sound (which I was already aware of and have been wanting to get checked out, but have just been putting if off) and volunteered to take a look. Lo and behold, I no longer have that strange sound. :) Following my appointment, Milton also followed up to check-in and ensure everything was going great with the repairs. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Save yourself the time and money. They're swindlers. I called Mac's Plumbing for an issue with our sump pump. There was water sitting and swirling in the pit. It was hot, shouldn't be that hot. When I called I was told there is a $45 service fee, okay fine. When Malcolm arrived he told me the service fee was $150. When I asked what happened to the $45 fee, he said that was just to look at the pump to tell me it isn't working. So basically you're charging me $45 to tell me something I already know. If it was working I wouldn't have called you. Then he tells me the pipe had come disconnected. He said he fixed it. The swirling stopped. There was also a beeping on the battery pack to which his solution was to "just unplug the battery pack and the beeping will stop." THAT IS NOT A SOLUTION! They then charged me another $150 for reconnecting the pipe. Fine. Then it gets good... He proceeded to tell me that the sump pump was so old that they didn't even make that kind anymore and that it would be $2500 to replace it. Also, that our battery needed to be replaced with a specific kind that would be $400. He didn't bother to tell me that the existing battery was already that kind of battery he was recommending. I declined both because it just felt shady to me. He left. One hour later the swirling and the beeping started again, so he actually didn't fix anything and charged me $300 for NOTHING. I decided to get a second opinion from FH Furr. They came next day. Told us that yes the pipe was disconnected, which Malcom had supposedly fixed the day before. FH Furr didn't charge a service fee at all. They also told me that our sump pump was only two years old and it was the best cast iron type money can buy - that we should get another 12-17 years out of it. He also said our battery was also only two years old and that we can easily take our battery to Auto Zone and they will recharge it for free. The only reason the battery was drained was because the system was working in overdrive because of the disconnected pipe. Problem solved in 30 minutes and $300. So now I'm out $600 for a problem that should have been fixed the first time for $300. read more

Milton did a great job as always. I used him on two occasions for outside faucet repair where he installed a new washer to repair the faucet and another company wanted to remove the spigot by tearing up the inside wall. I recently used him for water heater and leaky sink issues. He repaired the sink and replaced the thermostats on the water heater. He explained the heater was old and probably was going to need to be replaced but thought the new thermostats would last for a couple of more years. Milton is a honest and efficient individual. He will not attempt to sell you something that is not actually needed. His pricing is fair. I highly recommend him for plumbing needs. I use him all the time. read more

Mac's you can lumping team showed up to my residence today on time and charged $125 to replace a 2 dollar washer. Repair work time took less than 30 minutes and they gave me an estimate of $375 to replace a $45 part that would require half an hour of labor. Way overpriced! read more

I can't recommend Mac's Plumbing at all. Milton arrived late, but didn't call ahead saying they would be late. It got worse, they didn't fix the vibrating sound the cold water pipe was causing, instead they replaced the valve on the hot water pipe. Not surprisingly, it didn't fix the problem and the sound is still there. Milton was supposed to unclog the bathtub and replace the stopper. He did the first, but the stopper was a manual one, not the type that uses the switch to move the stopper up and down. The prices seem a little high, probably inflated then reduced if they did more than one job. Lastly, Milton refused to stand behind his work, suggesting fixing the hot water valve was enough.
