Have been to several Mac's and usually I find them to be mediocre at best. The Fort Mill location was a great surprise! Nice seating options that aren't high tops. It actually feels like a restaurant - with quite a few booths that are away from the patio and bar area - and not just a bar that serves bbq. Does that make me sound old? ;) But really, it's true. Server and other staff were great and very attentive. The food was really delicious! Great smoked chicken and collards. I wish they had white sauce, but not a deal breaker. The vibe and layout is very similar to the other locations, large space, lots of TV's, ample seating. There is a nice patio for outdoor seating that has a window into the bar. The service was good (it always is). Our server was friendly and attentive, and checked in on us often The menu is the same as the other Mac's locations; good BBQ, lots of sides to choose from, and they refresh the menu with new options fairly often. In keeping with the current trend across all of the locations, the beer list is mediocre at best. Not nearly as good as it once was. I am not sure if each location sets their own beer menu, or if there is someone in charge of all locations, but the selection has suffered. All in all a good place for BBQ and very consistent across locations, if you have been to one location you know what you are getting with all of the others. read more

Since their opening a few weeks backs, I'd have only seen the restaurant or parking lot laden with people and cars. Finally, one morning I got to try out Mac's for the first time ever and in Fort Mill. Upon entrance, you can tell the place has some life permeating through it. The people seem excited about the food and the staff is focused on facilitating the experience. The menu offers a variety of meals while also maintaining some solid BBQ roots. I ended opting for the Sausage Sampler and a Buffalo Chicken Bacon Ranch Bowl. The sausages came out after a couple minutes and although it wasn't one for presentation, the meats were delicious. My favorite was the Texas Beef and Jalapeño Cheddar sausages. The bowl came out after about 12 minutes after ordering. The presentation looked great and the portions well sized. Digging into it, the union of ingredients tasted great. It's gotta be impossible to mix all these flavors and for the meal to ever turn out poor. Mac's did a great job with it and it was delicious. Mac's seems to have a solid following around the franchise and although I remain a novice still, this location has a good vibe. I hope the quality and service can continue past the opening honeymoon phase and that they will continue to prosper. The anticipation for this location has been incredible. It felt like it took forever to open, but it's finally here! The parking lot is massive, and I was told another restaurant, South Bound, will eventually open next door. For now, though, it's all about Mac's Speed Shop. Arriving on a Thursday around 5:00 p.m., I was surprised to hear the wait was already 45 minutes to an hour. One hostess initially told me it would only be about two minutes before we were seated, but another hostess quickly corrected that to a 45-minute wait. A little annoyed by the mixed information, we decided to grab two seats at the bar instead. That turned out to be the best decision because our bartender, Dana, was fantastic. She was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and offered great recommendations throughout the meal. I ordered my usual--the half rack of baby back ribs with fried okra. As expected with a brand-new location, they're still working through a few growing pains. The food wasn't quite as well seasoned as the Steele Creek location, but it was still very enjoyable. To finish the evening, Dana convinced us to try dessert, and I'm glad she did. We ordered the fried apple pie egg rolls topped with vanilla ice cream, and they were absolutely delicious. The Steele Creek Mac's Speed Shop is still my favorite location, but having this one much closer to home is definitely a welcome addition. I'll happily be back. read more

At long last Mac's is open in Fort Mill! We've been waiting awhile and today 7/2/26 was the 'Grand Opening'. They were ready to rock n roll at 11am as advertised. The town of Fort Mill has DOUBLED in size in the last 5 years now population is 20K so more restaurants and variety are certainly welcome. This is a KNOWN restaurant with locations in Charlotte and the suburbs. I've been to the one in Steele Creek and in Matthews and liked the menu and food quality. Today I was greeted by Shannon who offered a very warm welcome. I had the burnt ends which only comes as an appetizer option. I also got an order of the fried pickles and the fried okra! Wow, everything is so good, the Burnt Ends maybe a little pricey at $17 bucks and they came out less than hot. I thought the fried pickles were a little too salty for my taste but the okra was done just right. The place is full of HD TV's and has a sports bar vibe to it. A very large well stocked bar large dining room and they also have outside patio seating. The parking lot is HUGE and I've seen some complaints about the exit option which ONLY allows a right turn. read more

New restaurant, which means the bathrooms, seating area and outdoors areas are clean. The service was good as we were greeted immediately but took a couple minutes to get a table. Our waitress did a good job checking back before and when we got our order. We had a burger and wings. The $10 lunch deal is really good. They both came out as ordered and tasted great. The wings had their "burn out" sauce which was spicy good. Great experience for the first time. If you try the $10 off QR code for when you visit it won't come until later. Don't get the hype. Got the Burnt Ends and more than half of it was fat. I pointed out to the server and she said it is the fattest part of the brisket. Despite visiting on opening day with a packed restaurant, the service exceeded our expectations. They also have an excellent gluten-free menu with plenty of choices, which was a huge plus! Our table loved everything we ordered, including the pulled pork loaded tot bowl, brisket quesadillas, Route 66 burger, and cedar-plank salmon. The burger was initially overcooked, but the staff quickly and cheerfully replaced it with a perfectly cooked one. Stopped by for lunch. I had the beef brisket sandwich, my wife had a taco, both were excellent. She had the Mac and Cheese side which was fantastic. I had the fries with vinegar very good. Service was good. Now for a few minor negatives. Its loud. It would not be a good place for a large group. Unless they have a separate room. Also, we took food to go. Inhad wings. The staff was AWESOME. The place was clean. They were working as a team and always on the move. The place was colder than necessary and everybody was balled up while waiting for their food. When the food arrived all 6 of our orders were room temp at best. The cheese sauce was cool and sticky. The ribs tasted great if you like cold dry ribs. Then only thing that wasn't too cool was the burger which sits in an insulated wrap of bread. The prices are far above average to be serving cool food. I will not go back. They know that when they drop the temps enough to make people cold that they will eat in a hurry and leave. It's a typical corporate type place. I will say it again, the staff was awesome. We've been to the Charlotte Mac's Speed Shop before, so we were excited to check out the new location. We ordered the smoked wings and the fried Texas Pete pickles (should include more per order), and everything was fresh, organized, and exactly what we were hoping for. Service was smooth, and the whole place had a great atmosphere. The happy hour drink prices are hard to beat, and whoever designed the parking lot deserves some credit...there's plenty of parking, which makes getting in and out so easy. I went 3 times between the July 19 and a July 30th. It was pretty busy and loud but each time my food was cold, not like warm just cold, like it sat out for a while: I ate tacos, burnt ends and a meat sampler with sweet potatoes waffles and yea cold. I had a waitress Destiny that was so nice and I had their peach bourbon smash which was tasty. I personally won't eat in the fort mill location again. The bartenders are attentive but not friendly, maybe because they are so busy or maybe that's the vibe for Mac's overall. read more

Great addition to Fort Mill. We went in around 5:30 on a Tuesday and were seated right away, it got very crowded as the night progressed though. Our server Izzy was great, she checked in multiple times, kept drinks fresh and made excellent recommendations. Kids ordered from child menu and enjoyed their meal. I started with wings and then pork platter. The wings were very good, burnout sauce was excellent. Pork platter great as well. They do a rough shred of the pork here so it stays in bigger pieces than some other spots, I liked that but might not be for everyone. Food was excellent. Beer selections could be a bit better and staff more in tune with the product. Bar tender couldn't find beer I wanted them poured wrong kind. I said that was not a pale ale finally manager said they were out of the beer I wanted go figure. Kitchen still not on time with waitresses both salads were suppose to have chicken and came out with no chicken even though was put in correctly. Hopefully just growing pains first week. So sitting at the bar, the bartender basically is front forward what do you want. No hi how are you, no smile, nothing greeting. I ask him can you smile he said no. Came from out of state, still have days here. I would never come back here solely on this bartender's rude behavior. Hs name is Josh. I had way better southern welcome at a McDonald for christs sake. Not to mention the food was terrible. I live in IL and have had better barbecue. Chicken dry and skin burnt, supposed to have lemon peeper dry rub but apparently they don't season the chicken with it, but comes out as a side for you to sprinkle it on???!! Ribs burnt as well, macaroni and cheese had no flavor or layering of cheeses, collard greens were disgusting. I was raised on them being my father was born and raised in TN, and these were terrible. And what BBQ place doesn't have corn bread especially in the south! I don't get why this place was packed every night.
