Department stores. Wow. They are filling an ever diminishing need in our lives, bedding for Thanksgiving weekend is one, yikes. What a mess! The products were dispersed and hard to locate, prices were unclear "originally $400 , TODAY just $40." What???!!! So I finally secured my pillows (firm, soft, down, down alternative, fill, side sleeper, back sleeper, stomach sleeper, memory foam, etc.). I just want a pillow.! Now! Made a selection along with a mattress pad and down comforter with no assistance in sight. Now, where is the checkout? Find one with a line six people deep and a involved checkout procedure run by a senior citizen overwhelmed by the number of checkout steps. On one hand, I applaud hiring the elderly. On another, shame in Macy's for inadequate training and management . No wonder if we have time, we turn to Amazon. Shopping at a department store is really awful. read more

One star belongs entirely to Christian, the nice young man who helped us in the shoe department. One star belongs to the nice young lady who told me about the 'pre-sale' on the shoes that we picked up today. The other three stars are missing because they were trampled to death by some very shoddy customer service. First there was a woman sweeping the floor when we came in. She looked up, I gave her a friendly 'hello' smile, she looked back down at the floor without so much as an acknowledgement that we were standing there. The only guess I could make was that they must treat their employees badly, because the older gentleman in women's shoes gave me the impression right off that he was definitely not enjoying his job and gave my mother-in-law the impression that he did not want to wait on her. Al Bundy syndrome, perhaps? Are they perennially short of help so that the employees become weary of the tiresome 'running to the back' to fetch shoes for their customers? Perhaps it was because we were dressed in casual clothes (scrubs for me - I practically live in them) rather than the latest fashions, but I got the impression that a few of these folks were not too excited about getting our business. Folks, if you work in retail, remember that a smile costs you nothing. Even if you have to fake it. Some times if you fake it long enough, it actually begins to infect others, and you end up feeling better for it. No customer likes being made to feel like they are bothering the employees by asking for help. They will soon take their business to another store where the employees are a bit more happy to help them. I have been to places that had customer service so over the top that you felt like you needed to towel their saliva of your lower cleavage. I am not asking for that. But for crying out loud, at least pretend like you are happy to sell your products to your customers. This exchange of money that follows is what makes your paycheck a reality! We were on a complicated mission here. We originally came just to pick up a pair of previously bought shoes (the pre-sale thing). Then I decided since the shoes were on sale, I might as well get a pair for myself, as I spend long hours on my feet. Then my mother-in-law decided my shoes were so nice that she needed a pair just like mine. Christian was wonderful. He was very understanding with us, especially so in spite of a little stress involving an emergency run to the ladies room right in the middle of his shoe sale. He found the shoes my mother-in-law wanted, and was very kind and compassionate with her. I think Macy's has some good employees. But if they truly want to be the kind of high-end store their prices reflect? They need to weed out the ones who don't want to be there. For a store that charges such high dollar prices, the bathrooms are dirtier than many Wal-Mart bathrooms. This was not just an isolated mad-rush-busy type dirty bathroom. This was my second visit in less than a week and I am not entirely certain much cleaning was done in between times. read more

This store is trashy. The fitting rooms are filthy- i didn't even want to remove my shoes for fear of catching something. They don't manage inventory- clothing is crammed on racks, apparently never organized by the apathetic associates and several seasons are all mingled together. I had order online with pick up at the store. Macy's good about email communication. When all my items arrived at this store, I went to pick up headed to my car with 2 items. I open one bag it was my make up brush from Clinique. I must have look at it for a good 2 minutes. This dang brushed was a returned item. I can tell it had the returned label peeled off half way. To my surprise and confirmation the brush smelled fruity. I took is back the following day got a new one and no scent. Macy's is just not my favorite place to shop. For sure they've got the brands I love, and the prices are in line with what I am willing to spend. But without fail, every location I go to is messy, crowded, and full of salespeople who seem overworked, understaffed, and exhausted. I honestly wonder what their turnover must be. In particular, the Macy's at the Domain is the most stressful to shop in. I feel like there are three employees to this huge store and two of them are in shoes. I will hit up Dillard's almost every time instead. read more

We did our wedding registry at Macy's and it was a huge waste of time, in addition to continuing to be a pain 2 months after our wedding. - There was no one at the store to help me when I went in to start my registry (apparently there is 1 person trained to help people with their registries and she was on vacation) - Once someone did help me (figuring it out as they go), the machines weren't working - I got an email that I can receive 20% off of anything on my registry, but the promo code listed is the wrong promo code so I can't make my online purchases (currently waiting on the phone with them to get the right code- 20 minute wait time). The last thing I want it to give Macy's thousands of dollars of business, especially with their sloppy customer service. Additionally, its unfortunate that I registered at The Domain- they got credit for getting a new wedding registry customer and it was wholly undeserved. If you're going to register at Macy's, make sure you go to a GOOD one. One where the registry expert cares to help you and make it a good experience for you. They get at least a couple thousand dollars of sales from a wedding registry, and the least you can get is some decent customer service. read more

I have received the worst service from Macys furniture department. I have been trying to schedule an appointment since January for someone to show up and remove a defective couch that I purchased and still this morning they called and cancelled again. They booked my appointment for the following week. Again on their time! And the technician will call me the day of. Well I have had to keep calling their tech guy to get the time of arrival. Every time I try to speak to someone like a supervisor, all I get is (that is what we can do sorry.) They have me hostage. I received 5 calls and emails to bring the couch to me but I have not had the same service for the return. Sad. read more

I LOVE the Domain...this Macy's is my favorite! It's smaller in scale than the other Austin Macy's and much easier to shop. I am always greeted immediately in every dept...unlike the BC store..yuck! I am a Macy's cardholder and get bookoos of discount cards in the mail that I use every time I shop. I rarely pay full price (unless it's a designer handbag which are always excluded.) Their very helpful staff always help me pay the lowest price. My favorite dept is Inc..I love their clothes...with sprinkles of Free People that I can buy on clearance..then get an additional 20-30% OFF. I never have trouble shopping there. Now my daughter doesn't go for the cheap trendy clothes so she has to stick to sprinkles of the designer brands on clearance...always happy to buy a pair of Hudson jeans for under $100. My hubby and 17 yr old son like the more trendy clothes which they have only a small amount of. Their Men's Dept is a little more geared to the preppy golfing businessmen..not my type at all....Children's dept awesome..stylish dresses for my grandbaby always on sale. I would give Macy's a perfect score as I am a regular shopper and have my own personal salesladies in clothing and cosmetics...but it wouldn't be fair to mislead the guys on the Men's Dept. I go to Macys for the nice selection of Calvin Klein clothes. If you time it right, you get them for 50-60% off the high ticket prices. Otherwise, I haven't found much in recent years just wandering the aisles. It's a bit of a nuisance shopping here due to the constant sales and discount coupons that you need to keep track of. They had no lightweight mens cargo pants, which was disappointing. read more

Macy's is a very nice store but NOT this one at the Domain. I've been to all in Austin, Dallas and most everywhere in between and this has to be the worst one of them all. Just so you can get a visual, think of shoving a watermelon through a straw...This store looks like the after affect. The floor layout is a mess, the racks are placed to close together and you'd think your in a ROSS, if you didn't see that the Macy's sign on the building. The Store manager should go visit it's sister store in Barton Creek, Lakeline or Dallas for some tips on organization. Exhausting day of shopping yesterday. Forgot to buy a belt. Dreadfully went back to Dillards and Macy's at the Domain today. Parker in men's is knowledgeable, eager to help everyone, style informed, and a gentleman. Don't often experience this kind of service in a big box store like this. I even took a moment to tell the Manager on duty. However, he is rare. Many of the negative reviews here sound like experiences I have had at Macy's and other big box department stores. Every employee that we came up to had an attitude, even for the most simplest question. I had a coupon for 30% sale and even after grabbing more than $200 worth of clothing and the coupon stating a discount including sales and clearance, the employees didn't know why it wasn't working in the kids section customer service register and seemed lost. I also came up to a lady in the men's section and with out me even saying a word she yelled stating she was working with someone else and I was just going to ask if her register was opened. Macy's is pushing its credit card right now and offering discounts for using it. Think about it before you sign on. After much up-selling by the salesperson, I got the card to take advantage of the discount. I explained to the salesperson that I don't have checks and she told me I could pay over the phone or online. Great. I call to pay the account off in full and they wanted to charge me $15.00. I hung up. I got online to pay and there was an error. I wrote customer service and told them I was having trouble. They didn't respond for more than a week. I finally got the payment in online or so I thought. I get a call from collections saying the payment was delayed and I owed a late fee. I never got an email that the payment didn't post. I explained the situation and gave them dates of the correspondence with customer service. They explained that I was talking to collections and not customer service, so, my attempts to contact customer service and pay the bill were basically meaningless. They would not drop the late fee, even though it was their customer service who delayed the payment. They charged me $5 to process the payment over the phone and they kept reminding me what a nice thing they were doing by giving me this discount on one of the fees. I said I wanted to cancel the card and they asked what they could do to keep me as a customer. I said they could waive all these fees and they said they couldn't do that. They reminded me again how nice it was that they were lowering one of the fees. I canceled the card. To be clear: I had the money to pay off the card in full from the day I made the purchase. This wasn't a case of someone trying to get out of paying a bill. I made many attempts to pay the bill and their customer service didn't get back to me for some time. It shouldn't be this much trouble to pay a bill or get customer service. And it shouldn't matter what department you're talking to, customer service, collections, whatever. It's all Macy's. These big companies hide behind layers of departments and division with the explicit intention of mudding the water, wasting time and avoiding accountability. read more

I don't want to bash Macy's Domain because the people there are pretty helpful in the Men's section BUT BEWARE if you get Jeans hemmed there because their process is to measure from the ground up then they give you a chart to pick from. The "full break" is their longest hem and it has ruined 2 pairs of my jeans already because it's just not long enough. The jeans end up being high waters. Next time I'll ask them to go around their process or I'll just go somewhere else. I hope this helps someone. read more

Since I've visited other, smaller Macy's box stores than Austin's Domain location, this trumps many others. They carry a wider selection. My issue with the return was resolved. I've warmed to Macy's a bit more. I still have my suit and I'm happy with it (after Gassanes worked it over) and will probably be back. But only in a larger market than Austin. read more

I wish I had written down the names of the cashier and managers who helped me because they were very patient and helpful with the customers in line and with my purchase at the Customer Service counter near the women's Nike and Under Armour apparel. My coupons were not working for some reason and then we realized they weren't yet valid (I visited the store too early, the fine print said the coupons were good for two days from now)... But they found another coupon to offer me without even hesitating. What great service! I purchased a "Troll's" pajama set for my little cousin as a secret santa gift. With the 40% off sale, the extra 20% off coupon they gave me and the left overs from a gift card my mom gave me, I only ended up paying $5 out of pocket. Large variety of clothing and products some high end and some everyday things! We shopped in the junior section and the swim section which both had a lot of options for all different taste. I would give no stars if it was a option. I went in today December 24th 2020 and had the worst experience at any Macy's. Trying to check out I was waiting in line calmly and got told in a nasty manner "you can check out anywhere in the store" and I replied saying I am fine waiting because I want to have the bag because I am buying jewelry and she replied saying well I will be a while before I can help you! So I went to the kiosk next to them where a guy that clearly worked there was standing near the register I asked if he can check me out and he replied in a nasty manner saying I can check out anywhere else and he doesn't work in the department. And finally I just waited at the customer service center till someone could check me out. Was a horrible experience and I wouldn't recommend anyone shopping there if I didn't spend 3 hours looking for the perfect necklace and perfume for my wife I would have left but I didn't want to drive somewhere else and spend another 3 hours looking haha. All in all was a bad experience and I would recommend going to a different Macy's because Macy's has great stuff but this specific store needs new management to train there employees about customer service. read more
