Horrible experience tried to pay with 4 different cashier's all said they were busy and couldn't help. The last two sent me to pay at finish line ... There were about three other families paying there for the same reason ... Other than the nice and patient girl Luz (I think that's what her name tag read) it was an awful experience worst customer service .... This review is for the MAC counter. It was my 40th class reunion and I tried getting a last minute makeover. Although the waiting list was full, Austin from MAC made it happen for me. I have never had a makeover and I must say, I looked fabulous. My makeup was flawless and so was I for the reunion. Everyone commented on how young I looked. Austin you are an awesome make-up artist. Just yesterday a beautiful black girl whose name I don't recall helped me purchase something for my mother for Mother's Day. Her and another girl were super helpful! Nothing extremely special at this Macy's. All the fragrances are in an area instead of spread out on counters. The assistant at Estee Lauder was very helpful to my mom. She applied the different foundations to ensure the right color for my mom. The Macy's is pretty much the largest department store at the mall other than Target. read more

This location is pretty much okay. They don't have much selection in terms of merchandise but have plenty of clearance sales for women's clothing. This review is strictly based off of the shoe department. I had previously ordered shoes at another Macy's to be shipped to my house because they were out of stock. When they arrived the associate had ordered me a 6.5 EW (extra wide) instead of a regular 6.5. I contacted the Lakewood Mall Macy's and spoke with Alex. I asked if they had any 6.5 in stock that I could exchange my shoes for. She said the computer showed they had one but it was probably the display. I asked her to confirm they did in fact have the shoes because I didn't want to drive down there if they didn't really have them. She set down the phone and I could still hear everything going on. I waited for about 10 minutes and she came back on the line and said she found the box. I reiterated that I didn't want to come down if she didn't have them. She confirmed they did. I got there maybe 10 minutes later and she was on break. The guy manning the counter was able to find the box with my name on it. It was an empty box and he said he'd have to search for the shoes. I was very irritated that I had to wait and she said they had the shoes when they didn't. While they were searching Alex came back from break and I asked why she said they had them when they obviously didn't. Her excuse was "well I only said we had the box". Why would I have driven down to look at an empty box? My next experience was returning the shoes about 2 weeks later. When I arrived it was obvious they were grossly understaffed. I was told that I had to return the shoes in the department instead of at any counter which didn't make a whole lot of sense. The counters were piled high with shoes. There were several people waiting and one of the three people left because she was off while we were all waiting. I waited in line for at least 30 minutes to do my return. The one upside was once I was waited on the return took about 5 minutes. This is a very poorly run department and seems to be lacking in staffing. I will not be returning to this store. read more

I use the Macy's.com site as they have all the sizes needed. Lately, mostly everything goes back which is a chore to drive it to UPS they send it by USPS but you end up driving it to the ups due to their sending out worn wrinkled clothing they send out clothing rolled in a ball all wrinkled. its okay store, i had good customer service by a young lady in the women's perfume section, really helpful and friendly didn't get her name, but she was kinda petite and wore a ponytail with purple flats that i did remember! the jewelry area can be improved sadly only one associate was available. women clothing could use some serious cleaning and organization, store was fairly empty so i was able to shop without the crowds and loud people. read more

I did not appreciate the customer service at the jewelry section at this Macy's! I was turned away twice from two different sales representatives! One said, "I don't work in this department, go over there to jewelry or watches." Went over to the watch counter (with my hands full of jewelry) and the sales rep said, "I won't be able to help you, go over there" (gesturing to another counter!) I finally got help at the cosmetic department with really nice & helpful sales reps. I went into the children's department looking for a winter coat for my toddler. I asked someone behind the counter if they could direct me to the winter coats and was first told "...uhhh I don't....I have to clock in and then I'll ask someone." Once she clocked in, she got Christina. I asked Christina the same question and was promptly told "It don't snow in California." When I reminded her that California had quite a few mountains with snow on it, she then said "You got to go there da git dem coats." I looked down and on the return rack was a larger sized winter coat, so I said "Well, how about something like this for my kid and was told "We ain't got those in small" I decided to look around anyway and found exactly the size I was looking for but for boys. Luckily someone named Aldrena (sp?) came up and was very helpful, guiding me to the girls rack with several coats to choose from in the same department. Aldrena gets 5 stars for her service, however Christina has no business working within 50 miles of a customer service job. She obviously had no interest in helping me whatsoever. With customer service like that, no wonder these brick and mortar places are going under. I have to deal with traffic, parking, AND her attitude, when I could just sit at home in my recliner and shop online. I'll probably just do that next time. read more

Clinique representatives were extremely rude. They literally ignored me and would not assist me. I had to ask a representative at a the kiosk next to them to receive assistance and pay for THEIR products! They were just standing gossiping, on their phones, and talking. Bought 2 recliners, set up the delivery date with the furniture associate and explain to him that I needed delivery made on Friday, June 22 as I was getting rid of my current furniture on Tuesday the 19th. He incorrectly inputted the delivery date of June 29th. Called customer service today, and the associate was extremely rude and talked over me as I was trying to explain things. So now I am going to wait another week without furniture. I've always liked the Macy's here. I've never had complaints. Until last Friday when I went to buy lipsticks at the MAC counter. That day, I had to take the bus because I was desperate for the lipsticks and someone else had my car. I only had a five dollar bill on me on my way out so I needed change. So I go to the MAC counter and look for the two lipsticks I need and go buy them. I paid debit but the register still opens when you do this. I asked the lady if she could give me change for the 5 dollar bill and she said "um.. let me ask my manager" she whispered to her manager. And the manager said "Well is she buying something?" then looked at me when the girl said yes. And she said "no. I don't feel comfortable giving people change like that." Like what? You're still going to get your money. I'm not stealing from you. I am a frequent shopper here. If I didn't need the lipsticks I would have thrown them in her face and said "I don't feel comfortable buying these like that" but of course, I always think of the good comebacks when I'm gone. read more

Never in my life would I take the time to review a department store BUT I had such horrible customer service that I just need to put this out there hoping that someone from management sees it as well! So I went in to by a steamer that I seen on special in an ad they sent me. I already know what I want when I get there so I waste no time going to the HOME department to get my steamer. I see a sign there placed for 29.99 I think great all of the steamers I want are right there! So I grab one and make my way to the registers the lines long and the cashiers like most Macy's cashiers are all old, grumpy and tired. So whatever I make sure I have my coupon ready that came in the mail with my ad. We finally get ready to be rang up and they do a quick cashier switch because they are all complaining that it's time for them to leave, ummm hello customer service where are you??? You don't leave until the line is at least not swinging around your department area like come on. And they just kept complaining oh my god it's time for me to go home, like really. So whatever anyways the little Asian lady with big black hair curled in a big poof, her name is DONNA, scans my steamer then asks us if we are using a Macy's charge I say yes but can I use this coupon she IMMEDIATELY without even seeing it says oh I think that's only until 2 but I'll check it I said please. Then she scans it and says no it's only until 2. Ummm, ok never did I even see that anywhere on it but I say ok, and look down at the total it's 52$$ ummm I tell her there was a sign over in the area where all of these were saying they were 29.99. She's like oh let me go check. So she leaves whatever bad customer service she should just apologize and give me the item for the price I said it was. Anyways as she's taking her sweet time looking for the sign I read over my coupon and NOWHERE on this coupon does it say until 2pm if you want to check it out yourself it was the coupon for 10 off $25 during the Macy's one day sale this past weekend. Anyways when she gets back she try's to tell me that the sign there is only for the handheld steamers. I'm like soooo then why are all of these steamers that I had right next to it. Then she says because the handhelds are all sold out? So I say well that is false advertisement and I should get the price that it says. And she's like no, so I said well then you need to go remove the sign because she didn't even bring the sign back with her she just left it there!!! Then I tell her ok whatever so where on this coupon does it say til 2 pm, she grabs it again and says oh your right it doesn't. But see right here it says excludes electronics. I'm like but this is the home department so this is a home item and right there on the coupon it says valid for home items. And she's like this steamer uses electricity so it is an electronic. Ummm lady so does that freaking kruerig over there so why don't you move all that crap next to the tvs!!! UGH! So annoyed at this point, so she says so do you want it or not NO OBVIOUSLY I DONT WANT IT SINCE YOU GUYS HAVE ALL THIS FALSE ADVERTISING EVERYWHERE AND I DID NOT EXPECT TO HAVE TO PAY 52$$$ for this steamer that is not even a sale so why ever bother calling this the one day sale! So I so NO. And leave. SO THIS REVIEW IS TO DONNA, THE LITTLE ASIAN CASHIER WHO THINKS SHE RUNS THE HOME DEPARTMENT DONNA I WENT AHEAD AND DROVE OUT TO THE MONTEBELLO AND GOT THE EXACT SAME STEAMER WHICH WAS SURPRISINGLY ON SALE THERE FOR 37.99$$ AND THE NICE LITTLE MEXICAN CASHIER HMM WHATS THIS ABLE TO USE MY 10 off 25$ COUPONS SO THANKS FOR NOTHING DONNA WHO WORKS IN THE HOME DEPARTMENT AT MACYS IN LAKEWOOD THANKS AGAIN FOR NOT PROVIDING ABOVE AND BEYOND EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE SO THAT I CAN DRIVE MYSELF OUT SOMEWHERE ELSE AND SAVE EVEN MORE MONEY! I have to agree with Tiffany C. and Erica B. This Macy's has taken over where Mervyn's left off. I was jamming all over town trying to get several things done when I remembered I needed a Clinique item that I could quickly get at Macy's. I thought, "No, I'll go over to Nordstrom in Cerritos and use their card to get the Nordi Dollars." I was in a hurry and settled for Macy's Lakewood. This was one of those days when I did the shower and dash - NO MAKEUP at all. I looked like a lizard with little tiny eyes and it would be great if someone could help me out in the makeup department. What was I thinking???? Not even the Clinique salesperson that rang up my purchase offered to so much as try some lipstick on me. I decided to see who would step up to this little project (that being my blank slate of a face). There were all the girls perfectly dressed and THEIR makeup as perfect as can be, all chit-chatting amongst themselves. What are there, maybe 5 different makeup counters? There wasn't a single customer to be seen in the area, and not one of the salespeople asked if I needed anything. Crap, how do I feel? Either blond eyelashes are the new rage or this job was just too much to take on. Whatever. Moving on to what REALLY sent me over the edge. Back a few months when Mervyn's was around, I remember shopping there for jeans that were on sale when I started noticing that the entire store had gone Latino. All the signs were printed in Spanish, the salespeople were speaking to their customers in Spanish, and even the over head PA system was announcing something in Spanish. At that moment I thought that this store's days are numbered. And was I wrong????? NO. Well, on my previously mentioned trip to Macy's Lakewood, I thought it was so like Mervyn's to now have only one or two cashier's on each level. What happened to checking out in the department you selected your items from??? THEN, there was an announcement overhead in English (the official language of this country that is also spoken as a second language in almost every other country in the world except those that speak Spanish, excluding Spain where they also speak English), then the announcement was repeated in Spanish. At that moment I decided that no matter how far I had to drive or how little time I had on my hands at the moment, I WILL ALWAYS TAKE THE EXTRA TIME AND PAY THE EXTRA MONEY TO RECEIVE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE "IN ENGLISH" AT NORDSTROM !!!!!!! read more

I like Macy's, but not this location/mall. Macy's occasionally has great sales - especially for cardholders but you're better off shopping online! (Or Los Cerritos Mall.) This is the Christmas shopping season ... on a Sat afternoon and your registers aren't all open? Or there are people at registers, putting hangers away when there are long lines through out the store. The store is always a mess, store associates are busy socializing with each other rather than putting the customer first, and I hate how staff are stationed at a cash register but are too busy to ring you up. Maybe they were busy doing something else, but it makes you guys look lazy. read more

Wife: Had a bad experience today 3-28-18 with a rude young little girl named Karen at the urban decay counter. First I stood at the counter for several minutes as I can see a bunch of little girls playing around when they should all be working. Finally this little girl named Karen shows up with an attitude and I had to check her real quick. All I was there was for a return. She looks at my receipt and sees that I supposedly received a gift and begins to demand it back. I never received a gift first of all BUT I guess people do not know the meaning of a "GIFT". Anyways this little girl kept smirking the entire time not trying to help with this return. So now frustrated to the max I ask to speak to a manager. The manager shows up and helped me with a great attitude and great customer service. I had to let the manager know the horrible customer service her employee is giving to the public. This little girl needs to get some training or work in the back stocking boxes. I hope no one has to meet this little girl named Karen or experience the worst customer service ever. read more

I will give a negative review if I can. Among all the macy's I've visited before, this is the worst experience I've ever had. The counters were mostly empty with no sales persons. Their attitude was rude and ignorant. After trying to return something I purchased at a different macy's, they insisted the product was used (I just bought it three days ago and never opened the box). They wanted me to go back to the same macy's to return and stating if I like the other macy's better then I should shop there. They really don't care about their store image and was not trying to help at all. I will never go to Lakewood Macy's again! Honestly, I will never return to this store. It has gone downhill in every aspect in the past 5 years or so. I used to frequent this place when they had sales and/or coupons. I pretty much stopped coming here due to the messy/unorganized nature of this store. In addition to clothing, purses, and other merchandise all over the floor (which by the way is a total fall hazard!), the place is just dirty and gross. The music at the makeup counters is way too loud. If I want music that loud, I'll go out clubbing......no thank you! They make announcements over the loud speaker that you can't even understand due to the loudness of their sound system. Elevator is totally dirty and rundown and only holds a few people at a time. Carpets are dirty and stained. Like I said, I quit coming here for a reason yet I found myself here last week and oh my goodness. It has gotten even worse. I was in the pajama section and half the pajamas were falling off the hangers and on the floor. The employees were rude and seemed like they could not be bothered to do their job. Not to mention, why does macy's hire people with bright blue and red hair and piercings all over their face? If you can't be bothered to hire presentable looking people as your employees, if you can't seem to clean up your store or put shirts back on the hangers, and if you think I have mistaken your makeup section for a night club at 10:00 AM, I'm not shopping at your store. The only reason they are getting one star is because I am unable to give ZERO stars. This is my Macy's furniture experience: Back in June i found the perfect sleeper sofa. When the delivery men bought it over i was so excited, then they stood it up on its end and said they couldn't get it in to my apartment because it was too tall. When i suggested laying it down and going in at an angle they were completely unwilling to try, so i told them to return it and i didn't get my couch. So I've been shopping at other places and while i found couches that would work, the delivery times were not fitting with my timeline, and reluctantly i went back to Macy's since i could get it within a week. I had some hope that since i had given the other stores the measurements of the hallway and door and their movers said they would be able to get the couch into the apartment (even though the dimensions were slightly bigger than the couch i ordered from Macy's), i thought with different delivery men it would be possible. I went back and spoke with the sales rep and she said people had complained of the same problem and promised me different movers. I paid for the couch (again) and she said that the delivery scheduling department was closed and asked if i could call in the morning to schedule, and her computer showed days 7/28, 7/29, & 7/31 available, which was perfect because if for some reason they couldn't get it in either if need to have time to buy a new couch. I call in to schedule delivery and the voice operating system gave me the 7/28 delivery date and once selected i was transferred to a customer service rep who said the earliest delivery date was 8/1 contradicting everything everyone else said. I told her that wouldn't work and requested a full refund. She said for the out of pocket portion it could take 10 to 14 days to be reimbursed. I requested to soak to her supervisor to see about expediting the process or to see if i could go in and gave it applied directly back to the card i used and she's asked to put me on hold for "a couple minutes" which turned into 13. As i have a job, i hung up. Thank you for making my furniture shopping experience with your company an absolute nightmare. Also, because I was unable to sit on the phone for who knows how long until the supervisor picked up, I have to wait 15 days for my refund. Whether or not speaking to a supervisor would change anything, I am unable to say. I did talk to someone in customer service after work and they explained that they are unable to put refunds back on the cards used to purchase goods being returned. I will be very happy to tell anyone who wishes to buy furniture from Macy's about what i went through with your company, and also be very happy to recommend the furniture store that is delivering my new couch that I bought today, tomorrow. read more

We politely got up and left, however we were paying customers and should not have been treated like children. We were treated with disrespect which reflects their customer service. i went to the womens shoe section yesterday. never seen a sales associate the 20 minutes i was there. so when i found a shoe i wanted i went to the register and luckily a nice lady who didnt belong to the department helped me. then the sales associate came from out of the back and said he was going home. the lady asked him if he could get the other shoe i need he said no he already clocked out. she then asked him wheres his relief person and he said he dont know they should be coming. she apologized to me and said maam ill help you but im a little lost as to where to find it so if you can bear with me ill get it for you. this guy left us both standing there knowing the lady did not know where to look and he went home leaving the shoe section to fend for itself. well the lady helped me and the wait wasnt long and she was nice. i read more

I'm literally next. I stand in line for 20....yes TWENTY minutes in the girls juniors dept. No one calls for back up. She helps 1 person to takes an order to have it delivered...on 2 items and for the same person. Then they make a payment on their credit card.
