I had a terrible experience with the manager. Pros: The employees were super friendly and helpful. Store was clean, organized, with a great selection of apparel neatly separated by audience (men's, women's, kids etc). Cons: I asked if I could return some clothes I purchased online though I was 5 days past the 30 day return window I was hoping there was some alternative options as I live in Central California where there are no H & M stores. The manager ignored me. I addressed her kindly just asking about options. She wouldn't even look up at me. Her tune was overly rude and condescending. She continued to mistreat and talk down to me. I didn't understand why she was treating me so horribly. I was hoping to stay and shop but I haven't been belittled like that when simply asking about a return so I immediately wanted to leave. I was charged $10 more in store for pants that I found online that I could've picked up in store for the cheaper price. I had no idea until I got home they actually charged $10 more and didn't price match to the website when I specifically told the store clerk the pants I found online and (and she scanned the item from my phone!) I had mentioned I wanted them but decided if I was going to do in-store pickup, might as well wait and see if I actually wanted them. She could've stated they'd be more. They don't price match their own website. Absurdity. So instead they told me to download the app. And select in store pick up. So her suggestion was to waste more of my time. Waste the grid. Waste data. Waste someone else's time when it comes to fulfillment. When instead they could learn to realize if a customer takes the time to check prices, you should save everyone's time and just price match your own site. Corporate clearly decides the worth of the product, and the store should honor that. I put my cat down yesterday. I have a job interview this Friday. This was possibly interview clothing. In total it was about $20 save to buy online vs in store. So after the store refused to honor their own prices and wanted to waste everyone's time. I took photos of the tags and downloaded the app. Most of the items reflected as not available at the very store I found them. I just took photos of these items. And they were apparently not available at all. I actually had the company front woman hold the 4 items so they are definitely there. Anyways I'm over it. Deleting the app. Shopping elsewhere. I'm not one to complain but I have never encountered someone so rude in my life. I stopped by this morning to look around being that this is the closest H&M to me, I got 2 items and went to pay, the associate helped the customer in front of me and then began to move around some clothes on the counter, I stood there maybe a good 5 minutes, not once did she acknowledge me so I asked if the register was open she looked up with an attitude and said "yes but I am doing something, when i'm done i'll ring you up", she then showed my items in the bag, pushed it towards me and started talking to her co worker. I didn't get her name because her name tag was covered but she was terrible, H&M do better, if these are the type of associates you have then you need to do better. Very convenient in the Lakewood mall, right by Charlotte Russe which has some pretty cute stuff too. H&M always delivers on quality clothing that's durable, super cute, & sleek. It's that place you wish your boyfriend shopped at. SUPER cute men's clothes. I prefer men's t shirts particularly at H&M, they're fitted but still a bit loose since they're for men. I've just developed an obsession. The store is super clean; hand sanitizer is provided. Don't miss out on the lovely sock packs all around the checkout line. H&M online ordering is great too, but I think it's better to go in person because the shirts that look exactly the same have different material components, some softer than others. MONICA is very rude and lied to me about the return policy. She told me I was able to return my items as long as they had tags and all I did was try them on and when I went back to return them she refused to return my items and said they are final sale. She didn't say that when I first purchased my items and just lies to customers. Horrible service this lady needs to get fired ASAP. I came on 12/27/2021 and was looking for a particular item for my girlfriend. My girlfriend tried looking online first to see if the item was in stock. The website did say so but she tried to call but was unable to reach anyone. She figured it was the holiday rush and short staff. I was about to meet Guerado/Gerardo (sorry if missed spelled) the store manager and ask if he has seen or can help me find the item. He tried looking around and even checking the back. I told him I was not in a rush and if it was in stock I would look like a hero. Gerardo could not find it in the back and was able to contact one of his associates, Chelsea, to help out. They communicated via walkie talkie and Chelsea was about to make a bee line to the hope of the accessory. thank you Gerardo for making the effort and having to ask someone who would know. Bad costumer service. Came to exchange clothes for my son with a gift receipt , employee that helped me was rude & giving attitude for no reason. All I wanted was just to exchange it for something else. I asked if he can check if I had store credit on a card & he asked me why , if I was going to use it, or if I just wanted to know the balance ,etc Manager was no where to be found , a quick transaction with 2 items took over 20 mins. Sam had terrible terrible customer service. We told the male twice the price was $20 for purses that were originally $40 and he still overcharged us. Purse sign said $10 and then they said they're $20. Kristina had to return all of our items all over again because he overcharged us for other items as well. We asked him if there were anymore pink purses around the store, he said "Whatever is out, is out!" We agreed and said yes but maybe elsewhere in the store and he said "Whatever is there is there!" This store is super convenient, clean and organized, and has selections for men, women, and kids. I can always appreciate good customer service but this store took it above and beyond. Being a mom in time-crunch, I recklessly left my process cell phone at the register. I didn't realize until a hour later that I had misplaced my phone. Because customer service reached out to the store manager, Josh, I was so happy that they found my phone and kept it safe. Even with phone-locater apps and such, it all comes down to human honesty. Thank you so much H&M staff and for Josh, who provides support to his employees to do the right thing and honor us. !!! Went on a Wednesday (today) afternoon, not too many people which was great. Workers were nice and friendly. Overall experience was great except I lost an heirloom from my grandmother who passed away due to COVID. Its the only thing I have left as memory. It was my fault, it happened in the dressing room. Very upset with this store. 2 days ago I went to return an item that I had purchased with an H&M gift card. The cashier seemed to be having trouble with the system because he had a confused look on his face. The manager came and said he didn't know what was wrong with their system. It was a simple return. He took the receipt and my gift card and made a copy of both, and then told me that he will call customer service and that the money will be back on to my gift card within the hour. He gave me my gift card back but didn't give me my receipt or the item back so I have no hard proof. It's been 2 days and nothing. I called Customer Service myself and made a case. I have yet to hear from anyone. Update: 2 months later I decided to call Customer Service back for an update on getting my refund. They said they will go ahead and issue the refund back onto my gift card. And about 1 month after that call, the full refund came back. read more

Would love to understand why Jess, Andreas and Geo don't exercise courtesy & common sense at their job. I've been recycling clothes at this location for months now-- this time around I didn't bring a bag for the 5 pairs of jeans I (didn't think this would be a problem for two reasons; the first being that h&m is trying to be more eco-friendly by promoting people donate their clothes rather than throw them out and end up in a landfill & secondly they have PLENTY of bags at the store location ) nevertheless from the store clerk all the way up to the store manager there was a refusal to to accept the clothes or at the very least give me a bag to put the clothes in that way they could be accepted. After doing my best to reason with the manager (all while having clothes is like to try on and and bunch of jeans to donate) Geo said he couldn't give me a bag because and this was store policy because they'd have to touch the clothes...??? I explained to him that I never asked for them to bag the clothes rather just provide a bag so I can donate the clothes and continue my shopping. Reluctantly geo handed me a bag after he said I'd need to make a purchase... what makes any of the workers think I want to spend money at an establishment that has inadequate customer service. I will be following up with the district/regional manager sometime soon to formally complain about the experience I had at one of my favorite stores. This H&M store is best described as "eh." For those of us used to the sprawling expanse of choice and stylish affordability that H&M normally offers, the Lakewood location seems pretty barebones. The men's section in particular is pretty limited here, and the employees are constantly confused by their own promotions and offers, and seem to be trained to politely refuse and deny rather than find out what the customer is talking about. I love the brand, and do a ton of shopping through H&M (I'm a tall dude who prefers Euro-style clothing), but between the mediocrity and the odd cashier staffing (sometimes I wait 2 minutes, sometimes I have to search the entire store for an employee) of this location, I'd rather make the trip to the Torrance or Long Beach locations. read more

There were two cashiers, a male and a female. A co-worker passed by and said "You still here?". The woman replied, "Yeah, they wanted me to cut the line down." I was now at head of line. She finished with her customer, looked at me and said, "He'll take care of you.", turned and left. Customer service isn't completely dead, but in places, it definitely is on life support. read more

And even though an associate looked like they were heading to lunch he still took the time to assist me with finding items without getting frustrated. Employees have confused looks on their face when asked simple questions. Having an issue with an online item and one employee says system is down, other employee says it's not. Also, could not specify the instructions of how I would receive my money back from a returned item. Maybe h&m themselves are not training employees to answer common questions. read more

I came into the store to do an even exchange due to buying the wrong size online. I gathered all the right sizes that I needed and when the cashier did the exchange she said I owed the same amount that I paid online. So she wanted me to double pay for the clothes. She ended up getting a manager that wasn't any help. So that manager told me she would send someone over to the men's department to help me find the correct items but the associate that came to help me said she didn't know anything about the department WOW!!! I'm a Customer Service Manager in retail and that was the wrong thing to say. I ended up being transferred to Maria and she made the transaction smooth. She just returned everything back to my card and did a price match from my receipt for the new sizes. I ended up paying just a little more but I didn't mind because she took care of me and explained the process as she was completing my transaction. If it wasn't for Maria, I would have just returned everything and never came back to your store again. Thank you Maria for your excellent customer service. I didn't realize til i checked my receipt at home that the clerk had only applied the coupon to only the LAST ITEM ON MY RECEIPT!!! I immediately called customer service was less than helpful with the situation. Supposedly some 'system' was down and was unable to start a case. I work in customer service and this is no excuse. Came in this morning 7/3/19 to do a couple returns. I purchased summer clothes for me and my daughter and decided I didn't need everything. I was there when they opened and the employee (a young man) has to open his register. He finished opening and started my return which was 1 dress on 1 receipt and 2 shorts on another. He stares at the item as if there's an issue. He then gets on the phone and says "my register is frozen". I've worked in retail before so I know when your calling LP on someone. The other phone then rings and he says ok to whomever he's talking to. Then proceeded with the return on his 100% working register screen. If I have a receipt with tags attached and the item is unworn then I should be able to return without loss prevention being called on me. I love this store and always shop for me and my daughter here but now I won't be back. read more

I am in love with HM. I used to frequent the one in The Citadel Outlet. I have also ordered many times via app. I went into the store yesterday, expecting to find a gorgeous outfit for my birthday. First impressions: no pushy greeting/sales, organized, clean and large, so I figured there would be a great variety. As I proceeded to walk throughout the store I couldn't find any dresses until I accidentally stumbled upon them. The selection was limited and appeared to be out of date of the current styles. I did find two cute Joy Division items, but due to not finding not one article of clothing that I felt would be perfect to create an outfit, I just put the items down and walked out disappointed. read more

It is now 11/18 and I have been waiting for a reply from H&M customer services since 11/2 regarding an error they made on 10/11 when they charged me again instead of refunding me for a return I made to a Chicago store. Thankfully I noticed it and returned to the store to ask them to rectify their mistake. This took a good 20 minutes as they couldn't override the system and had to do it all over again manually. Needless to say when I saw the returns there was a small difference remaining and I called customer services. I had to call them 3 times and email them all of my receipts and screenshots of the transactions. This was on 10/31. I got a response a few days later that had nothing to do with the information I had sent. So again I called and spoke to customer services for 50 minutes. This was on 11/2. How long does it take to check one single case that I have had to chase up on at least 4 times and never once got an apology. I am just glad I noticed the mistake. Having lived in the US for nearly 2 years now I have never come across such bad customer service and it's a pity because H&M has very good customer service in Europe! read more

Great structure and atmosphere all through out the entire store. Amazing staff and excellent customer service. I want to especially thank one of the staff member Jackie for helping me out and teaching me about clothing. Which was cool because i have no knowledge about clothes what so ever! I needed an outfit for a date and he helped me pick a few items. He was very straightforward and honest about the clothes i was looking for and what he thought looked best on me. It's not as big as some of the other H&M locations nearby (like the H&M at the Pike), but they still have a good selection of clothes for women, men, and kids. I came here twice, one time on opening day and another random time in the following weeks. Everything was clean and well maintained and the staff was friendly... hopefully they keep these up but that's what makes a good and fun shopping experience!
