Shopping experience was okay. I shopped for a top and found a decent one, that purchase went fine. But as I was leaving I swung by their cosmetics area to purchase an item just before the store closed and just 3-4 minutes before closing I couldn't find anyone around the cosmetics area, they cleared out Before closing. I found 1 person at a register talking to a coworker and she said she had Already closed her register, I walked around the 1st floor and they all had Already closed their registers BEFORE Closing time. How ridiculous! When I worked retail years ago you don't even close it down until a couple minutes After closing because you know there's a few customers around at closing about to check out and leave. But yet they All Closed out their registers BEFORE Closing time and someone who I believe may've been a floor manager saw me searching for an open register and he himself knew the registers were closed.... I wouldn't be surprised if they do this all the time to scatter outta there fast. I understand you want to leave, but organize it so that there are 2 registers open on the floor At closing time to allow for trailing customers to purchase their item that they had in hand Before closing time. read more

I went to do an order pick up today they messed up my order so I had to go from level 1 to level 3 to do my return. I was already in a rush yet jesselle in the home department was so helpful and went beyond to make sure I was leaving as a happy customer . In order to motivate my lazy ass, I've implemented a reward system so that I do the chores that need to be done around here. I have no one to stay on my back about it so if I don't feel like doing shit, it won't get done. Since this time of year I go nuts for colorful sandals, I decided that I cannot buy any until I did my laundry. All of it and the fucking dishes. And clean the stove. I still took my time about it but in the meantime, I looked around the Net at various shoe sites to see what was out there and how much. I decided to break up the reward system down to a win-win. I did the dishes...that is equal to one pair of shoes. When I do the laundry, I get another pair. When I get the garage cleaned out....jackpot! More shoes! I didn't really want to get anything from Macy's, just wanted to look around, but I saw a pair of sandals that I had seen online and this would be reward #1. I just felt a pat on the head. "Good girl!" I walked through a few clothing items, too. They had some cute stuff, but nothing that caught my eye. I caught myself browsing through the costume jewelry and handbags on the way out the store. Just looking for a way to spend more money. But....nuthin. If I was broke, I would have seen everything that I wanted. Why does it always work out that way? Bleh! Anyways, I have to file this report and go separate my laundry. Unfortunately Long Beach still has no department store. I cannot buy work clothing at Target (Target is not really a department store anyway), but I don't mind driving to Lakewood because their city taxes are lower. Macy's employees have always been helpful to me in shoes, purses and clothing. I agree with other Yelp-nistas that the cosmetic department staff are too few and too rude. read more

When I was blessed to be chosen to be my nephews godfather, I couldn't just show up dressed in my usual attire (white shirt, Levis and boots) to this special occasion. I figured I'm going to have to get a suit and look sharp for my handsome dude. I'm not a suit wearing kind of guy so I'm lost when it comes where to get one, what type, what color, etc. I called up a few friends that know a thing or two about it and asked for some advice. Most of them recommended Macy's. I went a few weeks before the baptism and was pretty excited because by then I had an idea what I was looking for. When I got there, I was a little intimidated from the large selection of suits they had. So I just took a deep breath and went right in. After I while of looking around and trying on a couple of them, I chose a navy blue suit. Suit shopping is as bad as I thought it was. Maybe I should do it more often. Now I need to find more reasons to wear suits. The only issue I had were the cashiers customer service. They suck! They all have crappy attitudes. read more

If you're planning on getting fine jewelry, I would stay away from this location- the lighting in the jewelry section was absolutely depressing. I got a pair of diamond earrings here and there was a flaw in the stone that I didn't see until later because I was half blind in the store. Last night was my first and last visit to this Macy's. I went into bedding to purchase a mattress topper (not inexpensive), but there was no one working the department. There was a guy "off the clock" at the register so I went into the nearby executive offices to have them page someone. Nope, that didn't work either. I called the store's main line from my cell and was told someone would come. That person had no knowledge of the bedding products and told me that there is only one person who works the entire home goods sections. Good thing there were so many people working the fragrance and cosmetic section that when you walk in the store, you can't breathe! Do yourself a favor - go to another store that is better managed. read more

Fabulous service in the furniture dept from Mary! However I was dismayed with the response from a goateed male associate and African American female associate who pointed in a general direction and retreated from me when I asked to see Mary. It seemed a bit disrespectful to their co-worker to point rather than smile and escort me to her. Bought a pair of Nike AirMax @ finish line Macy's in Lakewood... the sole started coming apart took them back for exchange... Customer service was subpar made me feel like I was trying to stiff them... if it wasn't for the manager the whole experience would had been worst than it was... I exchanged the shoes and paid the difference... Note to employees when a customer returns something don't take it personal, your only job is to be courteous and smile, the return is not coming out of ur paycheck ur not losing a dime neither is the Macy's they get credit with the vendor and at the end the customer is satisfied...that's ur job... Maybe customer service is not a requirement when hiring new personnel... I'm glad the manager step up and did his job. David? Came shopping for my son wasnt greeted or asked if I needed help. Very small selection for 3year okd little boys so not very helpful. But I do say what they did have for younger boys was very stylish. Got 4 outfits for 130$ thought it was a great price ! Cashier was nice but kind of frowned when she complained to the other cashier holding up two ones and yelled " see, see this is what Im left with" and exchanged money in front of me. I give a 4 star rating for everybody else here. There is a guy who stands near the doorway when entering. I'm ALWAYS greeted by the women who stand there, but I feel this guy didn't see me as a worthy customer. I am a frequent customer here, especially the MAC counter. He did not greet me. I'm not sure if this is his normal demeanor, but it's not very becoming and lack of manners is low class in my opinion. Shoppers like to treat themselves, they may be having a long day, they may also have children and don't have time to fix themselves up all of the time. Going into Macy's to purchase something to feel better shouldn't include someone not treating you with manners. If he wants to behave like that, then maybe he should stand in a corner somewhere. read more

I mean you couldn't get in the door 2 feet b4 they all attacked with perfume samples or trying to sell you something. This location is terribly messy and not kept very clean. I was there at opening and still had a hard time finding anything. The layout is strange. Some Macy's tend to have poorer quality choices. And this one was pretty bad. The shoe section was huge, but did not have anything besides drab dress shoes. All of the same brand. I'm a big fan of Macy's, just not of this particular location. They seem short staffed here at times, which can leave you standing in a very long line. The clothing and shoes selection is geared toward an older crowd, leaving the selection for shoppers in their late teens to early 30's very limited. The staff in the shoe department seems overwhelmed and too tired to help you. I wood not recommend coming to this location if you are looking for a relaxing shopping experience. You would be better suited to go to Del Amo Mall. read more

Macy's Lakewood store's Plus size Women's clothing section is a joke. They have reduce the selections for plus size clothing to a small section on the wall behind children's clothing. I am so insulted that this store thinks Plus Size women are obviously not important although I've seen many Plus Size Women shopping in other sections of the store. The Macy's fine jewelry department has horrible answering call customer service. First of all they don't put you on hold they just put the phone down so you could hear all their conversations with the customers and the employees chit chatting and laughing and it feels like they forgot about you on the phone 10 minutes later they pick up the phone asking what I want like they haven't talked to me yet. Very slow service, suits department sales associates are not fully aware of their own department. Doesn't even know if they carry their own "Bar III" brand. I came into the Michael Kors section, and I was greeted by a woman named Giselle. She was awesome by-far, no snobby attitude like the other girls that work the section, I asked the question I had, and she helped me by far, and also gave me a price check and politely offered to help me fill out a Macy's Card application, and confirmed that the bag I was choosing was the right one I was lookin to purchase for my girlfriend. I was surprised on my last visit to find one nice lady greeting and asking if I needed help in the bedding area that was a first. Selection in the house wares has rarely had any new products in forever. Each time I visit with my mom they always have the same items and in the same exact place. At checkout, on my last visit had the house wares cashier and a manager be pretty pushy to my mom and then me about getting a macy card. NO I DONT WANY A MACYS CARD! This is a store avoid and only go here for my mom. I do find regular employee's in a specific special area and even then not very knowledgeable about their products. The fragrance area is such a hassle without getting anyone to push on fragrances. If you move to another area still same pushy sale person with a different face. I can't walk fast enough out of this store. read more
