    crooked wall

Predatory Sales and Subpar Quality Mad City's process is predatory from start to finish. Three hours of high-pressure sales tactics in my own home, even after I repeatedly stated I needed to discuss the project with my husband, the salesperson insisted I call him on the spot, rather than reschedule. When I wrote about this on their website, they offered an insincere apology about addressing this internally, but it's clearly a systemic, years-long issue, as evidenced by a multitude of similar complaints. My shower was installed on 2/12/26 and 2/13/26. I called on the evening of 2/13/26 and left a message regarding my concerns that the shower walls are not square and that there is a dip in the two shower walls, starting about halfway down and continuing to the floor. A call was returned on 2/16/26, and a service technician was scheduled to come to the address to address the concerns on 2/19/26. Mad City Bath processed my full payment while knowing I was completely unsatisfied. Getting a hold of anyone was an exercise in futility. I either had to leave messages with a receptionist or with a general voicemail. I was told by the receptionist that my call would be made urgent and my calls would be addressed. No one had the decency to call me back, so I had to file a merchant dispute with my CC company. On 2/20/26, the field manager called me back to share that he had reviewed the pictures taken the day prior. His response was insulting. After acknowledging the wave and gaps in the wall, he told me that while it didn't meet my expectations, it met their "standard of error." Let that sink in: Mad City Bath's official policy is that crooked and wavy is good enough. If you value your sanity, your money, or a shower that is actually square and plumb, stay far away from this company. They perform subpar work, hide behind automated phone lines when things go wrong, and will abandon you the moment they have your money. Hire a reputable contractor instead.

    Finished product

First make sure everything guaranteed from salesperson is in writing! They do NOT put down tarps to protect your flooring and furniture. When I asked our installer Michael why he wasn't doing it, he said the salesman promises things that never happen. Even though it is in the buyers guarantee of service. We took a small pantry closet out of the kitchen to allow room to put a tub in the master bath. Love having a tub, but Michael neglected to caulk all the shelves and the spot where he removed the pantry door and placed drywall is shotty at best. The inserted piece of drywall is even on one edge, the opposite side protrudes about 1/8-1/4" from the wall and is not flush making it impossible to mud that area without having a big hump in the finished product. I have made multiple calls to different people at MadCity trying to get this fixed and NO ONE has returned my calls. So don't believe the part that if anything is wrong help is close by, they might be close by but they aren't there to respond to your concerns. 12/16/25. Edited Got a call from Ryan and we scheduled an appointment for repairs the following week. He gave me his direct number if there were any more concerns in the future. Nick came out and did an excellent job fixing the problems listed above. He then verified that I was satisfied with the work. He was very pleasant and reiterated that Mad City wanted to make sure their customers were happy with their product. So I guess the moral of the story, when you work with the salesman make sure you have the right numbers to get things fixed. Once I spoke with the correct person my concerns were met quickly and efficiently. And I love having my own bathtub vs the world's smallest shower.

Efficient and professional. Took 1/2 day to install. They took out old tub and replaced with a beautiful shower.

But, you get more than you pay for, too. Much more. I demand to get something for every dollar. I am frugal, and I more of a DIYer than most. I had several contractors come out to look at a number of jobs, and I interviewed a number of skilled workers across several trades for my house remodel. In the end, I didn't hire any of them. If you've done some research, you already know why -- good people are hard to find. Really hard. And that was how it was, until I talked to Tony about what I wanted. When he met with me and my wife, with him were the best electrician I have ever met, and the best plumber I have ever met. And they all worked with us to sketch out what they could do. And when the carpenters came, they were the best carpenters I have ever met -- every one of them was a better carpenter than anyone I have ever worked with. And it kept on like that through every sort of job -- the workers who came out to take out the old insulation and put in the new were the very best, the team who did all the demo, put up the drywall, and so forth, all the very best. And everything came along on schedule, orchestrated as promised. And, when there were bumps in the road, whether due to a misunderstanding or a job that didn't turn out as I or my wife had envisioned, Tony took care of it. And the price never changed except when I took over part of the job, or asked Tony for more work to be done. He was flexible to a fault, working with me without friction on my every change, and there were quite a few. These are some of the many other benefits we got when we put our faith, and our money, in Tony. We got the best there is, and we got everything we wanted the way we wanted it. Maybe it sounds self-indulgent, but then, this is where we live, and we have particular ideas about what we do and don't want. On every front, Tony met those expectations, and frequently exceeded them, such as by providing better work than we thought possible, spotting problems that were then fixed instead of becoming another problem down the road, and many other such matters that are hard to describe in a short review, but each of which is important. And I know, from experience, that other contractors, even good ones, would not have provided the things Tony did. He's simply on another level. Tony Trapp earned my trust, respect, and admiration. He has the best people, but Tony is the very best of the best. I have never seen anyone so meticulous, diligent, professional, patient, or wise about his work. If I had to do it all over again, I would count myself the luckiest person alive if I could have Tony again.

The previous company had started a year and a half earlier by putting up framing with a bathroom floor plan that did not meet city codes. They never finished and we had to go to small claims to get our money back. Adam from Washa gave us a quote that was higher than the one we had, but, obviously, it was necessary to do the job correctly. Steve Wineland, the site manager, is tops in the trade. We have had a lot of construction work at our home and our business and Steve is the best. The subcontractors were also outstanding. The flooring was delayed in arriving due to covid, but that was the only problem. The room and bathroom look amazing. We are going to start our next project very soon of remodeling our existing bathroom configuration on the first floor. I would recommend Washa for any project even if their price is somewhat higher because they are professionals, and, you get what you pay for.
