We were impressed with how perfectly the new wood matched the original cupboards for such a seamless installation! We chose the arch topped pattern; we were able to use our original pretty backplates and knobs; we did update with hinges that were internal and more modern in appearance. Within the next month, a carpenter arrived to measure precisely for the project. When the big day arrived, two installers came promptly at 8 am. Predatory Sales and Subpar Quality Mad City's process is predatory from start to finish. Three hours of high-pressure sales tactics in my own home, even after I repeatedly stated I needed to discuss the project with my husband, the salesperson insisted I call him on the spot, rather than reschedule. When I wrote about this on their website, they offered an insincere apology about addressing this internally, but it's clearly a systemic, years-long issue, as evidenced by a multitude of similar complaints. My shower was installed on 2/12/26 and 2/13/26. I called on the evening of 2/13/26 and left a message regarding my concerns that the shower walls are not square and that there is a dip in the two shower walls, starting about halfway down and continuing to the floor. A call was returned on 2/16/26, and a service technician was scheduled to come to the address to address the concerns on 2/19/26. Mad City Bath processed my full payment while knowing I was completely unsatisfied. Getting a hold of anyone was an exercise in futility. I either had to leave messages with a receptionist or with a general voicemail. I was told by the receptionist that my call would be made urgent and my calls would be addressed. No one had the decency to call me back, so I had to file a merchant dispute with my CC company. On 2/20/26, the field manager called me back to share that he had reviewed the pictures taken the day prior. His response was insulting. After acknowledging the wave and gaps in the wall, he told me that while it didn't meet my expectations, it met their "standard of error." Let that sink in: Mad City Bath's official policy is that crooked and wavy is good enough. If you value your sanity, your money, or a shower that is actually square and plumb, stay far away from this company. They perform subpar work, hide behind automated phone lines when things go wrong, and will abandon you the moment they have your money. Hire a reputable contractor instead. read more

We hired Mad City to install a single, plain front door. The salesperson was excellent and assured us the door would be custom made, high quality, and equipped with an advanced locking mechanism for added security. We were also told the door would have a bottom seal designed to block outside air completely. Based on these representations, we believed we were purchasing a premium $9,000 door. What we received was extremely disappointing. The door looked like a standard door you could buy at Home Depot, not a high-end custom product. The door itself was warped, and although the installer was very professional and clearly skilled, he spent three full days trying to make the door work properly. The locking mechanism, which runs the full length of the door, was also warped--sticking out on one side and recessed on the other, making the defect very noticeable. Mad City returned three separate times to attempt to correct the issue, but each attempt required removing and reinstalling the hardware. As a result, the door became damaged from repeated screw and handle removals. After these failed attempts, Joe, the site manager, told us this was "as good as it gets" and stated that if we wanted a new door, we would have to pay another $9,000. This was completely unacceptable. I escalated the issue to higher management, and once they reviewed the photos, they agreed the door was defective and approved ordering a replacement. Unfortunately, when the replacement door arrived, it already had a notch on the front near the handle, and the locking mechanism was still warped and not flush with the door. Joe then suggested having the installer once again attempt to remove and adjust the mechanism. At that point, we refused. We were not willing to go through the same damaging process again or accept another compromised door. I have now been asked to get a letter from the manufacturer stating the door is not assembled and sent out with defects. read more

This company has caused me so much stress.... I don't know where to begin. They did a terrible job to start. They had to tear the whole thing and re do it. They took over 7 months to do it. I had to get other compw ies to write statements that their work was causing the ridiculous leaks they left. The owner was rude, disrespectful and literally told me I was insane. Ultimately their work and materials are not worth the financial and mental health price youj will pay. Now the shower has terrible black mold and the crappy corners are yellow and ugly. This doesn't come off easily. Don't use them. Save yourself the grief. read more

First make sure everything guaranteed from salesperson is in writing! They do NOT put down tarps to protect your flooring and furniture. When I asked our installer Michael why he wasn't doing it, he said the salesman promises things that never happen. Even though it is in the buyers guarantee of service. We took a small pantry closet out of the kitchen to allow room to put a tub in the master bath. Love having a tub, but Michael neglected to caulk all the shelves and the spot where he removed the pantry door and placed drywall is shotty at best. The inserted piece of drywall is even on one edge, the opposite side protrudes about 1/8-1/4" from the wall and is not flush making it impossible to mud that area without having a big hump in the finished product. I have made multiple calls to different people at MadCity trying to get this fixed and NO ONE has returned my calls. So don't believe the part that if anything is wrong help is close by, they might be close by but they aren't there to respond to your concerns. 12/16/25. Edited Got a call from Ryan and we scheduled an appointment for repairs the following week. He gave me his direct number if there were any more concerns in the future. Nick came out and did an excellent job fixing the problems listed above. He then verified that I was satisfied with the work. He was very pleasant and reiterated that Mad City wanted to make sure their customers were happy with their product. So I guess the moral of the story, when you work with the salesman make sure you have the right numbers to get things fixed. Once I spoke with the correct person my concerns were met quickly and efficiently. And I love having my own bathtub vs the world's smallest shower. read more

I had a walk in shower installed by Mad City. The installers worked very hard but were only given a day to get it done. There was damage to my vanity, my sink was chipped and tile was broken off the wall. This stuff can happen during and install and is understandable. In addition the shower door won't close all the way and water gets on my floor. I asked Mad City to fix the damage and adjust the shower door but it has been over a month and nothing has been fixed. Very hard to get ahold of Mad City once the job is done despite multiple emails/texts. It was an expensive renovation and I hope it gets fixed. read more

I got a shower install, the installers were ok it was just not what I expected. They install a damage part on the new shower without letting me know until they were done and I went up and inspected. they had to order a new part and I had to wait 2 weeks to get it install. they Installers broke the main water valve and left without telling me. I didn't notice until the next day when I saw a big pool of water in my front yard. They arrived on time, scoped out the project, complimented the person who did the measuring, and went to work in 15 degree Wisconsin January weather. So I was asked to provide a review, and forewarning, MAD City does provide financial incentive for customers to perform reviews, from around 100 dollars to 200 dollars. While I am writing this review for the money, it is not normally how you'd think. I originally declined to perform a review because I am a political dissident who has been targeted by "AntiFa" in the past, and I don't want anything about my home being known, so I am doing this under the auspices of a false name, however everything I state in here is true. The financial incentive merely pushed me to doing this review anonymously. My opinions of MAD City is exactly the same before I was aware of any financial benefits to myself. I am also aware of the many reviews I have seen online about MAD City, and that the vast majority are not flattering. My experience, is completely contrary to what I have seen online. I was initially approached by a location scout who was promoting MAD City, and as I was in the market for new windows, I agreed to have a salesman come to my home. The scout was professional and kind. We had already had a salesman from a competitor come in to give a quote, and they were not chosen because they refused to answer questions I had regarding financing. THAT was a BIG NONO. The salesman from MAD City was, in no uncertain terms, what a salesman should be. The customer came FIRST. Every question I asked was answered truthfully, honestly, and in good faith. We had a great discussion, and he talked about the benefits of MAD City compared to others. He did not deflect my questions about financing. MAD City in comparison to our previous estimate from a competitor, provided triple paned windows at the same price for what the competitor charged for double paned windows. MAD City also has a much better guarantee of customer service after the installation, as well as a guarantee of no-extra charge or cost incursion if extra damage is detected and needs work. In short, if they removed a window and saw that a large portion of the wall needed fixing, they would do it, tyvek wrap and all, as well as would reuse what could be salvaged for siding. This was a huge benefit that I did not overlook, and gave me tremendous peace-at-heart knowing that the price I paid is what I would pay, and they in good faith would do what was necessary to fix any unforeseen issues to make sure their windows went in right the first time. The windows were installed in November when it was blisteringly cold out. I offered them food and drink to offset the conditions. They were thankful, and never complained. They also didn't swear, which means a lot since I have young children in my home. Free lead testing was done, which was hugely appreciated. I had rotten trim around two of the windows, and they replaced it. What put things over the top for me, wasn't just the kind, professional demeanor of the salesman, or the installation technicians (the guys removing old windows and installing new ones) but that the team lead had noticed one of my windows they were not contracted to work on had no trim. Him and his team stayed late on the last day and, free of charge, installed new trim around a window they didn't even have to do. That absolutely blew me away, and I was so thankful I gave them two entire cases of Busch beer, as it was the least I could do for their kindness, good stewardship, and genuine care for the customer. The other reviews online for MAD City are absolutely not indicative of the service and product I received. The windows are fantastic, do what they need to, and everyone from scout, to sales, to installation, were some of the finest men I've had work for me. I cannot recommend them enough, and I would say all this whether or not I get any money from them. There's a reason I've left their promo poster in my yard. read more

We only learned that installation would take 2 days when we were called to schedule installation by a pushy sales person. The in office team needs a better understanding of what will work in the field. We needed to reschedule the work after the team arrived and told us they couldn't do the work while a crew was insulating our home. (We were assured by the pushy sales person they could work with that) The installer was very professional and seemed familiar with the pushy office staff. Additionally, my husband had to tell the installers to put the shut off valves in an accessible space instead of inside a wall. Interesting lesson learned. We had Mad City come out to provide an estimate to do some work on the bathroom. I'll start off by saying no expectation was set about what this onsite experience would be like. The rep from Mad City was scheduled to arrive at 6:00 PM and was nearly 40 minutes late. We'd assumed this would simply be an initial assessment including measurements and discussing overall goals - in and out, then continue discussions regarding options, plans, materials etc. as a follow-up. Little did we know, this was apparently intended to be an hours-long, high-pressure sales meeting. After listening to the rep go on for over an hour hyping up Mad City, ("we're insured, we don't subcontract, we're highly rated on Angie's list" etc. etc...) finally something of substance began to come up - but only after attempting to bait us with some kind of vacation package deal? After a series of pricing guessing games where he'd asked things like "how much do you think it costs to replace a vanity?" and "how much do you think tub replacement costs?" he FINALLY began to actually throw some numbers around. (Sir, we have no concept of these things - which is why we let you in to help provide guidance.) Then, after it became abundantly clear this was essentially some kind of weird used car salesman / timeshare pitch, we'd let him know that we didn't expect this to take this long, and that we were trying to leave for dinner a long time ago. He claimed we were already getting the "quick version" then proceeded to pull out his giant bag of materials, options etc. (taking up another 45 minutes.) Fast forward to him scribbling numbers on some paper and outlining some actual pricing and their current promo - in comes the real aggression. The rep then outlined how if we don't agree to sign on something today, we'll lose the current promotion and have to pay full price. He then goes on and on about financing options, deferring payments for a year, asking what's stopping us from making a decision today, asking the same questions over and over again e.g. "will you get back to us this month?" As an added note, you're not our only option for financing, so let's not pretend we need you to "help us out" financially in that aspect. We finally let him know that we will not be signing anything today as we're not ready to make a ($15k - $17k) commitment. At this point his demeanor, of course completely changed. We asked what we could do to resume the conversation, how to proceed and he informed us that someone would have to come back out in person - presumably so they could aggressively twist our arms to get us to sign. He then let us know that we effectively took money out of his pocket by wasting his time. Mad City - you wasted OUR time, creating an aggressive, uncomfortable situation in our home. To say we're flabbergasted and furious is an understatement. We will NOT be utilizing your services, and will spread this word of mouth wherever possible (check out Reddit, someone's already way ahead of us.) Just before leaving, he made a big deal about making a phone call in our living room notifying the office of his apparent failure in closing the sale. It's 2024, not 1950. Nobody wants to deal with some machismo, aggressive sales rep, trying to guilt them into spending a large amount of money using high-pressure sales tactics and emotional manipulation and guilt trips. Interactions such as these are why people dread going to a car lot - this is not anything I would ever welcome into my own home, and will never be an effective approach to convince me to utilize a business' services. I won't mention the name of the rep to further do any more damage to him since we already "took money out of his pocket" - but suspect you'll be able to determine who this was (if you care) based on process of elimination. read more

For the past week I have been called a few times a day from multiple different numbers and they never ever leave a message. I answered it two times and told them we don't want to do it. If you feel like you have been taken advantage of due to your physical or mental disabilities, maybe buyers remorse like I have been. The first contact I would make would be with probably indiana attorney general or consumer protection agency. Mad city does not help the consumer. They pad their pockets. The warranty spoken of was not the warranty I received after paying that terrible amount of 15 k after I communicated I would remove a shower spa and make sure the rear of shower could be accessed so it should have been slated for one day. No one listened. Inferior OsB instead of a board that does not take on water and also protects a person from black mold( hardy tac I believe. All of them don't know of this more expensive but safe material to install shower grab bars. If you did not take pictures before and after pictures or hold your ground with general manager of the site, I most certainly would not just review on the BBB. The A+ rating carries over from corporate. Their CEO is known for the matrix that makes their exponential growth and capability to make money. Everyone with an LLC in this company, makes at least 5% from the sale. I am negotiating with them as of now. Yet, the shower pressure is less than it was prior to my removal of my own shower spa. I was promised the regulator was high flow as well as the head itself. No one realized throughout this experience, the pipes used behind the wall have created a reduction in pressure. Clayton and all the way back to the salesman did not know anything about high flow. To have high flow, pipes should not be smaller. This reduces water pressure. The showee spa has a booster in it. A regulator does not give extra pressure to a shower. Neither does a head. Extra pressure comes from a booster( more inept knowledge or simply criminal behavior to profit from the sick.The warranty you get after everything is signed is not a lifetime warranty. It is up to the salesman to explain the warranty. Multiple times I signed with half ass answers even when I asked of not understanding. This is illegal in Indiana, yet do not quote me You can call them back at anytime and record the convo without telling them. Indiana is a one party state. They aren't telling you they are recording. They are will to use scare tactics. Like nick, I believe the general manager over the site.Manager clayton had used. He literally tried to say it was illegal for me to belated them coming into my house to fix all the mistakes made. Including ruining a custom made cabinet to hide my supplies of a sensitive nature. Not a single sole told me it had been accessed. Clean supplie that require an RX needed to be thrown away. Protocols and procedures were likely followed. Not Indiana law. Speak out on social media. Share the terrible reviews. At every review site. Not much help at the BBB. If at anything, do not think the company is honest as they have not met expectations after all that was revealed of their shotty work. Mad City, lol. More like I am Mad Sh#tty. @ Mad city. Also, do not call Mad City for your new shower. Call a local contractor. And know your rights prior to them not following code, and conducting poor, maybe unethical business practices. The financing was set at 9.9% and we would get 12 months before the first payment was due. We put $3000 down. Then we get messages from the finance company; they said it was 11.9% interest with 3 months before the first payment was due. So the salesman apologized, said he wasn't aware of the finance company's recent changes. So we cancelled the sale. We thought if we have problems before they even did any work, we would have problems in the future. read more

We live in Fremont IA and the crew from the Des Moines office helped us today by installing a walk in shower. Levi installed it and did a great job! And James was the plumber who also did a great job plus was our hero as my husband uses a power chair and he'd taken our dogs for a walk. One of them had wrapped her leash around the chair so tight he couldn't move and I couldn't get loose. James came down and stopped by and rescued us. That was way above and beyond his job. Be aware that this is a high-pressure sales technique, similar to buying into a time-share. We were stuck at our home for four hours listening to the pitch. We unfortunately did not do our homework first and fell into the trap of his "only for tonight" deal. There are many videos on You-Tube how this works, and it's not to your advantage. I went to work educating myself on everything windows the next day, and also met with another company. Not only was Mad-City overpriced, what they offered was not a good fit for us. We cancelled the contract the next day, but they told us we were "required" to meet with the manager (at our home) before they would return our deposit. We refused that and said we just wanted our money back. We began receiving calls and texts multiple times a day wanting us to set up another meeting. In the end, they finally realized we were NOT going to go through with a meeting and we did get our money back (as required by law). We ended up just replacing the glass instead of the whole window and saved ourselves well over $10,000. read more

They used Plywood and Acrylic and chrome for my hand held showerhead a Chrome bar for safety 3 shelf's and a light color tub surround. They were so detailed that you didn't even seen a line. Michael is a blessing to the company honest reliable friendly with manners he knows His stuff. Also a Devin base for the floor.. Just so beautiful friends came over and they were amazed. I'm disappointed that I have mold growing in my shower. Mad city had mentioned to me that I would not need to worry about mold. We were first scheduled for delivery in December, but had to be rescheduled in January due to birth of installer's baby. Different installers arrived on time in January. Were very professional, polite, courteous and thoughtful. Finished two showers in two days! Kept house clean. Unfortunately one of the two shower doors went missing and we await delivery. Fortunately that is guest shower door. Door should be delivered next week. Bottom line, we are very pleased with our new showers. No longer fear slipping. Shower head has 4 settings. Shelves are adequate but could be bigger. Shower walls are anti-bacterial. No water stains.. Doors are easy to clean with squeegie. Expect many years of enjoyable use! read more
