The food was great but their hospitality left a lot to be desired. We had the Walking Dead burger and the Game of Thrones burger. We ordered them medium and they came out virtually raw. After sending them back, they came our great. Flavor was spot on and the portion size was big. The house made chips that came with them were delicious as well. In addition to the burgers, we just had to try the Mac and cheese. It was cheesy and gooey. Definitely a good choice! As for hospitality, we came in to try this place for the first time. We were greeted with a smile and a nod when we came in but then ignored. Finally, we had to ask if we could seat ourselves. After sitting down, they brought our menus and took our orders. We had to get up and go to the counter to ask for the cups to get ourselves our drinks. And when our food came out undercooked we had to again walk to the counter to tell someone since no one ever came to the table to check on us. After eating our meal, we again returned to the counter to ask for our check and pay. I never enjoy posting a negative review, however, sometimes it's necessary to do so. I visited Mad Cow Grill- Brandywine today and ordered their Oxtails with two sides (spinach and plantains). This was not my first time at Mad Cow so I was looking forward to the meal. I've ordered this same meal multiple times at this location so I had no hesitation or reason to believe the portion would be any different. There was no real wait time. The guy who took my order was pleasant enough. I was going to also order the Curry chicken and was told they didn't have any today. He added that the meal came with four oxtails. Sounded great I'm thinking I'll have enough for lunch tomorrow. When the food came out I took a quick peak in the bag/container. I saw four pieces and the sides I asked for and I was out the door. When I got home ready for this meal I realized they sold me a single piece of Oxtail that was cut into four sections or slices. And to make matters worse the meat is was tough. They charged me thirty dollars for this. Not sure what happened to Mad Cow Brandywine but they sould be ashamed of themselves. I love to support local small businesses in my community however, the customer deserves reasonable value for what they pay for. I've been supporting this establishment for years. First the Laurel location & now here in Brandywine. Some of my go to items are jerk salmon, curry shrimp, shrimp tacos, and the popular Rasta pasta... the herb coconut Parmesan sauce is yummy but I ask for light sauce now. Consistent Quality. In the interest of time, I place all my orders online. The staff is accommodating and Mad Cow is very friendly to the cycling community. My bike club has organized rides departing from both locations and we dined outside after the rides. One issue that can easily be addressed. I enjoy plantains but no longer order from here due to the shabby quantity. Mad cow charges $6 for a side and there are normally 5 or less pieces inside the cup. However, now that I'm visiting for a second time, I come to recognize that customer service during both visits is initially slow. I stood at an empty register for approximately 5 minutes waiting to give my order. The staff who did come to register was inaudible, and I find I have to lean in just hear him. My intent was to sit and have a meal. Considering the tables were left uncleared, i asked could someone to clear a table, but that went undone. I opted for something quick (beef patty) instead of oxtails because I was not feeling that the meal would be any better than the customer service or the ambiance of the place. This establishment potential is there. But it is quickly falling into another poorly managed restaurant. Please do better! read more

When you live across the country and are craving some good eats, this is one of the spots to check out. The food is nothing short of delicious and flavorful. This is billed as a Caribbean place, and it tasted pretty authentic to me. We ordered the jerk wings, the jerk chicken meal, the turkey burger sandwich, a side of macaroni and cheese, and the grilled fish tacos. The Mac and cheese was bursting with flavor! The jerk chicken and my was awesome, with a slight (but necessary) kick of spice. We also checked out some of the cakes: banana cream and a strawberry cream cake. The banana cream was much softer than the strawberry one, but both were bursting with flavor. Place your order ahead of time, if you want to enjoy the food within a reasonable time of your hunger. The rice&peas tasted like it was made with basmati rice and the cabbage had an interesting flavor. It looked like they seasoned it with curry but it didn't taste like curry. Visited this spot following a long bike ride with my friends. Very nice location. Friendly staff! Food is Jamaican fare and is absolutely delicious! I had the curry chicken with spinach. Went with a friend to try something new. Service was good. Waiter did a great job explaining the history of the restaurant and made recommendations. Was headed toward one of the Caribbean dishes when I saw a tray of burgers walk by. Each burger was stacked sky high, skewered by a bamboo pick to keep it all together. Immediately turned to the burger page in the menu and was captivated by the combinations listed. Ordered the Game of Thrones burger with a side of the truffle mac and cheese. The burger was good and it came out a bit The brie was a nice flavor. Never had that on a burger before. The winner, hands down, was the mac and cheese as conveyed by our waiter. Good portion and one of the best I have had in a restaurant in some time. Little too much oil in the bottom of the dish, but who cares when everything above it was so good! Desserts are made locally. I had a piece of the orange cake (forgot to take a pic, sorry). It was good. Solid dessert with the cake having a good flavor and texture. I got the mad cow wings. They do not look like that Smokey wing amazing pictures I saw on the website and on here. It was seasoned but just plain party wings. thought it would be smoked wings I also got the Mac and cheese and cake. I didn't like those either :( If you aren't a sugar person and enjoy that light texture of icing, this is your type of cake. I also asked for a cup for ice and was told it would be $3.25 No ice for me. The wings were ok. Not exactly very jerk but good and tender. The beef patty was decent. Sure wish i could have gotten a cup of ice, that definitely rubbed me the wrong way. Like i was wiling to pay a dollar or so but $3.25 for ice? I was looking to find a new restaurant offering authentic Caribbean food close to me. My heritage is Jamaican and Trinidadian and there are some core dishes that I love to eat on a regular basis. I came across Mad Cow. After reading through what I found on Mad Cow I decided to give it a go and ordered from their new Brandywine location. I ordered something for each member of my family (see pics). It was ALL good. The rice and peas with the curry gravy was flavorful. The Coco Bread was soft with a bit of a crunch that was a huge hit with me. The patties were spot on with a flaky crust and a nice mild taste. My mom enjoyed the plaintains. My son and his girlfriend thought their dishes were pretty good. The desserts...so yummy! That Creamsicle Cake with the White Chocolate icing is amazing. I have a very big sweet tooth and this cake was immensely good to me. We also had the Strawberry Crumble and Red Velvet Cake. Nothing disappointed. For sure I will be back. Also, kudos to the Brandywine staff for having my order ready shortly after I arrived (within 5 minutes). It was complete (nothing missing), packaged well, and hot! I did pick-up. I've noticed Everything is different but the cow theme of things!!.. this set up was much smaller and you don't get separate booths it's one long booth and a table in front making up 3 tables and a booth each, nevertheless it's comfortable. Today a young lady was the server/cashier/waitress but it was relatively slow as she said but it was a nice quant little place you can grab lunch or with friends or a simple date night. So My Mom ordered the grilled jerk chicken that comes with two sides, I got the unforgettable Oxtails, I kept hearing Great things!! To go! I got the Rasta pasta for my mom and the chocolate Hennessy cake for me and the salmon dinner for my brother. Everything was so flavorful truly authentic island cuisine down to the buttery soft coco bread the portions are pretty much feeding 2 ppl. A lady I was chatting with tho said the Mamas Mac is bomb!! The oxtails were definitely a hit, tender and flavorful. The cabbage was pretty tasty but cold so I had to warm it. There was a $3 up charge for the worst mac & cheese I had ever seen. The cheese was just crusted on top it did not stretch, there was no cheese inside, just yellow dry noodles. The plantain was okay but it was cut in rather large chunks. I can't go here anymore. I would travel from far to support Chef Neville at his old restaurant. When he with Mad Cow Grill, I still traveled far to support. The service at the Brandywine location is extremely poor. I stopped going many months ago after I had to complain to a woman who said she was the manager. I complained about the nasty, deplorable attitude of the man at the register. He was very mean-spirited. She assured me that it would be addressed. Unfortunately, the atmosphere at the Brandywine location is very different and not in a positive way. The staff seems immature and I was unable to determine who was the manager. The food was good, but not so good that I would be sure to come back. What I was very unsettled about is what was playing on the televisions, Walking Dead, was on one and Games of Thrones, on the other in the middle of a Saturday afternoon?! I did ask if the shows/channel could be changed and was told something about it being a video or something like that. I'm glad I didn't have a young child with me.
