I want this small business to succeed but the hot dogs are so small for the price. They also have the tip option at the end which makes me never want to come back again. Maria and Mitch the owners are wonderful. They make their customers feel like family. Today is my Dads Birthday. Unfortunately he passed away 2 months ago. He loved Coney Island hotdogs. I thought it was impossible to find a good Coney in Florida, I was wrong. Mad Dogs has the best hot dogs in Florida. The front window girl Heather will infect you with her joyous personality. I get a dog for myself and then they give a "doggy dog" for free for my dog! Not only can you choose from any topping combo but you can choose different types of dogs, such as natural casing which is my favorite. Also they got good fries and homemade lemonade! If you're in Venice looking for a cheap and delicious lunch that is great for any age, Mad Dogs is the place for you! I stopped here for lunch with my two year old and my mother. My daughter got the kids meal, which came with a hot dog, fries, and a drink. They even asked me if she wanted the bun (she didn't) and cut it up for her! My mother got the New York dog, which has spicy brown mustard and sauerkraut. I got the Memphis Dog, which is a bacon wrapped hot dog smothered in BBQ sauce. I also split an order of cheese fries with my mom. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their dogs. My bacon was cooked perfectly, not burnt or underdone. The fries were fresh and crispy. We all had Dr. Brown's Root Beer with our meals, which is arguably the best root beer in the world. I cannot say enough things about the service here! It was our first time and the staff was extremely helpful in explaining the huge menu. Our food was out quickly and for three people I spent $18. You can't beat that. It's so rare to find a place that makes me, my mom, and my two year old happy, let alone for under $20. I will be returning to this wonderful little local treasure! read more

We had Memphis Dog (bacon, bbq sauce and onions and cheese), New York (sauerkraut, relish, spicy mustard, and onions), and Yacutan (gaucomole, tomato, lettuce, and onion). The dogs were really good. OPTIONS! There are so many options here, my first visit was okay. I am going to return, and try other options. This first trip the dogs were okay- expected bigger and more flavor, with that said- the toppings are great! A lot of quantity. The fries were super hot and so good, love the fact that they have Pepsi and not Coke and on top of that Browns soda's. I am torn by giving a 3, and will update when I return. I am hoping a 4 or 5 is warranted. Bottom line, my expectations may be higher than they need to be, but I am hoping not. read more

I had driven by this "shop" several times and kept meaning to stop by. Not stop in only stop by because there is no "in." It looks like it may have been a former photo or coffee drive through only location, but there are several picnic tables so you can park and walk up and order if you prefer. I read all the great reviews and expected a lot. But I was disappointed. The jersey ripper was tasty but it's a small hotdog. Kind of skimpy. I prefer the kind that plump up when you cook them. This was kind of shriveled. I scraped off the relish and mustard and took a picture. Judge for yourself. It was tasty though. I was also disappointed they were out of onion rings and it was only noon on a Thursday. Too bad. I was hoping to find a new favorite but I guess not. read more

AMAZING!! Small place big flavor! We got 7 hot dogs for my family of 5 because we couldn't pick between the delicious options! All 7 of the hot dogs were amazing and one of them was a corn dog which was perfectly battered. The cheese fries were great too next time I'll get bacon on them! Celebrating hubs BD during corona virus, we were limited to take out as we all are. He loves hot dogs. Found Mad Dogs at spur of the moment, menu was inviting& all they do is take out, so we decided to give it a try. Couldn't make up our minds, finally ended up with 2 Chicago Dogs, 1 "Works" & 1 Italian Beef. Fries. Seemed like homemade fries to me, as they were soooo good. Like mom used to make. Hot dogs were the best ever! People were the kindest, most thoughtful customer service people I've ever encountered. Helped us make selections, patient with old people and their ordering!
