Location location location. And the Pointe's 'Tiki Bar' by the South Sea's pool area is just prime real estate. Pricing wasn't that shocking coming from NYC, though others on the trip I was with were a bit taken aback by $15 margs and $18 mojitos and $7 beers. Manhattan to me lol. But the drinks are good (skinny 'rita and coconut mojito's ftw, and I did happen to try their Blackened Mahi Sandwich with lettuce, tomato, onion, creole mustard remoulade on a toasted brioche bun. The pointe is located inside south seas resort. You must be staying at The resort or have a timeshare in order to eat here. They do not take cash, only room charge. What's really nice is that you can either go eat at the restaurant, or they can bring food to your chair and eat by the pool. We usually choose the second option and like to enjoy our lunch as we sit around the pool and look at the view of the golf. The menu has definitely changed over the year with some of the most popular items thing. Share I will say I missed the mahi tacos, which we always used to get. This year instead I opted to try the mahi sandwich, which had a big piece of grilled mahi, bacon and shoe string potato crisps. I thought the bacon would be a little strange on fish sandwich but it was actually really tasty. It also came with an avocado mayo which I asked for on the side, which was also very good. I only complaint about it is that came with the sandwich cold. I was actually very surprised as we were one of the first people to order as soon as they opened. My mothers fries were also cold, but she asked our waiter to bring some fresh ones and he didn't no problem at all. The fresh ones were very hot and very crispy. We also ordered chicken tenders, and a super foods salad. My husband put mine on his and my sister had it as is. It was a very nice fresh healthy salad with hummus, salad and quinoa. All I know this is a really great place to eat if you are at the resort by the pool. You don't have to pack up all of your stuff and go back to your room, you can enjoy your lunch right at the pool and head over to the actual restaurant and sit down. They have a nice variety of items on the menu, wings hot dogs chicken tenders, salads, Fish options, and many more. We have been coming here for years and every year we make a point to enjoy lunch by the pool and eating from the point. The best part about this restaurant is the view of the gulf. The Pointe is located inside of the South Seas Resort, at the pool area. The pool area has many chairs, seventeen cabanas, a fantastic veranda, and a beautiful tiki bar right on the pool deck. My family and I loves that view of the gulf, while sitting at our pool chairs. When I'm here I'm in total zen mode. Wonderful place to relax, have great food and drink. As soon as you enter this area, you can grab fresh towels from the staff. As far as the seating goes, it's first come first serve. I suggest arriving at 9 am when the pool area opens, if you want the seats you truly want. This is totally a popular place for all the resort guest. We always arrive at 9 am and leave about 1:30 pm. The food and drinks are available starting at 11 am, you'll see staff walking around taking orders. They have a wonderful menu, I think most people can find something to eat. I ordered the Superfood Bowl & added Mahi-mahi( Quinoa, Spinach, Brown Rice, Carrots, Beets, Red Peppers, Hummus, Blueberries, Edamame, Candied Pecans, and a Mango Pineapple Vinaigrette) I get this meal every year at the point. It's just a bowl of deliciousness. Great light lunch, that mango pineapple vinaigrette is outstanding, mahi-mahi is perfectly made. Love this dish. This restaurant is just what you'd expect for a beach location in its decor. Cool, ocean blue(turquoise) & white. Very pretty & relaxing. We ate inside but there is LOTS of outside seating. The menu was somewhat limited-probably due to Covid. We chose the fried plantains for a starter. They were served with chimichurri sauce. I loved the plantains! They were delicious. I didn't care for the sauce with them but figured it's probably the traditional sauce. We ordered the big salad (I forgot the name) and shared it. We added chicken as our protein. The salad greens were cold & crisp. In addition to mixed greens, there were cucumbers, tomatoes & sugared pecan bits. The dressing is served on the side & it is made from mangos & papayas. The dressing is sweet and delicious. You might not like it if you prefer savory dressings. I personally loved it! The chicken was grilled & tender, but lacked flavor. We also ordered the fingerling potatoes -an additional cost. I did not care for them as they seemed uncooked. My boyfriend liked them. We were lucky enough to have Cheyanne as our waitress. She was friendly & efficient. I would go so far as to say ideally suited for her job. Very nice! The only real negative for us is that there was a noisy party of four in the bar & it got loud in the restaurant since they share common space. And, the ceilings are high so the sound is amplified. We did not do dessert but there were a couple of offerings. If you're staying at any of the South Sea Island properties, give it a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

This is a "sit outside and watch the kids at the pool" type restaurant. You're not directly thrown into a maelstrom of kids, but they are nearby in the pool. Not loving to dine near screaming children but going ahead with it anyway, we had lunch at The Pointe. The kids were far enough removed that extremely high decibel screams were not an issue. BTW, I remember being one of those screaming kids years ago, so this is not an indictment of loud children. Regardless, we had a lovely table overlooking the mayhem ensuing at the pool. You are sufficiently removed from the joie de vivre to enjoy a peaceful lunch. I ordered a Margarita and I hereby attest to the fact that it's the best drink to be had at any South Seas Plantation establishment. My husband ordered "Cheeseburger in Paradise" in accordance with the song by Jimmy Buffet. I went for the ahi poke dish. Holy Mackerel, this was a fabulous lunch. There were bits of ahi tuna cubes, radish, quinoa, carrots and cucumber. So refreshing and also delicious. Unfortunately there were no chopsticks or wasabi. The Cheeseburger in Paradise was just like the Jimmy Buffet song. I didn't taste the burger but the fries were real good. All in all, this is a fine place for lunch with great food. read more

We've eaten at the Pointe twice in the last couple of days and our experience has been lack luster both times. Our biggest complaint is the quality of service and time spent waiting for a server. Neither time we were there when it was a hustle & bustle buzz of people to where the lack of quick service made sense. The 2nd time we visited the service was so bad, we didn't tip. We felt someone from our party had to get up numerous times to ask for things that were needed. Water. Menus. Refills on drinks. Checking to see where our food was. We waited almost an hour to get our food. Ugh! The WORST part of our experience was the server making an executive decision without passing it by my grandmother. She asked if the grouper sandwich could be gluten free. Instead of getting an answer and given an option of what she preferred to do, they made a decision for her and brought her out a Mahi fillet sandwich. We waited so long for the food, she didn't dare ask for it to be changed as she would've chosen the grouper even though it didn't have a GF option. Moral of this story- they need BETTER QUICKER SMARTER KINDER service people. read more

First of all, my dad never got his food that he ordered the first time we came. The second time we came we got charged for 6 chicken tender baskets when we only ordered 3!!! And it took an hour before a server came and took our order. And another 40 minutes for our food to come, it was 3 chicken tender baskets. The servers will stare at us and not walk over when we have no menus, drinks or silverware. We have had terrible service and we have been here twice within 2 days. Total bait and switch with drink special - ordered the 16 oz bud 5 special - charged for 20 oz upgrade instead of 20 worth of beer it was 36 bucks, fried fish awful.
