Much improved! South Seas is under new ownership and The Pointe is finally a functioning restaurant. Food and service are both much better and faster.

This is a "sit outside and watch the kids at the pool" type restaurant. You're not directly thrown into a maelstrom of kids, but they are nearby in the pool. Not loving to dine near screaming children but going ahead with it anyway, we had lunch at The Pointe. The kids were far enough removed that extremely high decibel screams were not an issue. BTW, I remember being one of those screaming kids years ago, so this is not an indictment of loud children. Regardless, we had a lovely table overlooking the mayhem ensuing at the pool. You are sufficiently removed from the joie de vivre to enjoy a peaceful lunch. I ordered a Margarita and I hereby attest to the fact that it's the best drink to be had at any South Seas Plantation establishment. My husband ordered "Cheeseburger in Paradise" in accordance with the song by Jimmy Buffet. I went for the ahi poke dish. Holy Mackerel, this was a fabulous lunch. There were bits of ahi tuna cubes, radish, quinoa, carrots and cucumber. So refreshing and also delicious. Unfortunately there were no chopsticks or wasabi. The Cheeseburger in Paradise was just like the Jimmy Buffet song. I didn't taste the burger but the fries were real good. All in all, this is a fine place for lunch with great food.

Great wings and tacos. Expensive but for resort food that is available poolside, you can't go wrong.

Located at the corner of Captiva DR and Andy Rosse Lane this is a perfect spot to pick up things you need without going back to Sanibel. In fact, I think it may be the only grocery store in Captiva. It is not huge, but it does have all the essentials including liquor, beer, and wine. They're affiliated with Bailey's General Store in Sanibel ( RIP until they renovate) meaning they've been serving Sanibel and Captiva since 1899. I know that, because it's on my cute General store tote I purchased when visiting recently. Service is welcoming and friendly, as you can expect from an Island store. There is also a small deli for you to order sandwiches if you want an on-the-go beach lunch. I remember walking down Andy Rosse as a kid from the house we rented with my abuelo to get coffee for the house every morning on vacation, and I'm happy this spot still exists to keep the memories going for folks enjoying the island. Wishing the Bailey's and Island store team the most success as they rebuild. And if you have the pleasure of visiting the island as it continues to reopen restaurants and businesses, be sure to make time to do your groceries and locally owned and operated spots like this.

This is a great shop, if you need last minute items. It is essentially a grocery store, but they have a few additional items such as beer, wine, liquor and gifts such as cups, magnets and shirts. We stopped here a few times on our last visit to the island. There is always something you forget, and we appreciate shopping at a local mom and pop place as opposed to a large retailer. It is very small. They have a cooler with fruits and vegetables as well as other cold items, dry stock items, such as breads, sauces, chips, etc. We noticed that they were also making sandwiches to go. This is super convenient as the beach is directly down the road. For a small store, their wine and beer sections are very large. They even have a walk-in cooler so you can grab drinks cold already. We were able to find almost everything we were looking for or missed bringing with us. My only issue with them was the service. We stopped her a couple of times and the two gentlemen that worked here were always friendly and nice. They welcomed us and said hello. The lady who worked here, at the register was not friendly at all. No greeting, she had mean looks on her face and was honestly just not very nice. It was a shame since this is such a little local shop. We will continue to come here. It is convenient for where my family stays and we always run out of something such as bread or forget something. It is a perfect place to grab those last-minute items. I have even purchased some items here for gifts. They used to have a large liquor section that sold local rum, but I did not see that this time. I might have overlooked it though. Ever since the hurricane we are truly happy to see these businesses coming back and will continue to support them when we visit. If you are in the area I would definitely stop here for any last-minute items, you need.

So, if you want sorbet, just know that it will be more chewy than what you might expect. Servers were great. Efficient & friendly despite a VERY busy evening.

Island eats are meant to be enjoyed on island time - without a rush, in good company, and in the sun. I've been coming to RC Otters since I was a little kid and rented the house down Andy Rosse lane by Mucky Duck. It used to be one of our treats to eat there for breakfast instead of at our house during our summer vacations. This past visit - we missed the breakfast cut off and had lunch there. I opted for the grouper sandwich. Something about a fish sandwich on an island is just luxury to me. They offer it grilled, blackened, bronzed, or fried. Bronzed sounded intriguing to me which is a mix of savory with a hint of sweet. Wow. It was awesome. I also ordered a bloody mary which was delicious. My sister in law got the ribs and loved them. Everyone else got the fish sandwich. Service is so friendly, and they usually have live music going on. A great, affordable place to enjoy a meal. All of the standard breakfast offerings were on the menu, plus a special of theirs is a breakfast sandwich that's an omelette wedged between two pieces of french toast. Kind of fun. The food was good, nothing stellar but it was decent. It was altogether an enjoyable morning with the colorful setting. They are open all day for other meals so can't speak to how the lunch or dinner food is, but we enjoyed the breakfast.

The burger was good, but it was definitely not a smash burger as it was huge and not thinly smashed as I am used to when it comes to a good smash burger. It also could have used condiments, versus us adding them on our own. Again, a solid burger just not giving smash burger vibes. Olivia the woman at the counter was so friendly and offered excellent service. Be mindful that Shell City Burgers is a resort restaurant, and thus only accepts hotel guests since they don't take cash/card and instead charge it to the room. What's most exciting is that this spot sits in front of what will be an oceanfront restaurant sometime later this year. To find it, you just have to drive down the resort main road and it's across from where they are building the spa. You do have to walk through some construction to get there, but the resort is a work in progress and it definitely feels good to support the restaurants that are open and get to know the resort as it rebuilds.

We stopped in for lunch instead of dinner, and it turned out to be one of the best meals we had during our trip to Sanibel. We started with the crab cakes served with lobster sauced mango coleslaw, and jasmine rice. The flavors worked incredibly well together, with the sweetness of the mango and rice perfectly complementing the crab cakes and lobster sauce. For our entrées, we had the blackened grouper with yellow rice and black beans. Everything on the plate paired so well, and the grouper was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of seasoning. This took me back to other fantastic fish dishes in other islands like Hawaii, the keys, the Caribbean, etc... The piña colada was delicious and made the experience even more fun because it was served inside a real pineapple. It was refreshing and not too sweet, definitely something I would order again. We finished our meal with the key lime pie, which was the perfect ending. It was creamy, tart, and exactly what you hope for when ordering key lime pie in Florida. Before visiting, I noticed quite a few reviews mentioning long wait times. Thankfully, that wasn't our experience at all. We visited during lunch, so that may have made a difference, but we were seated quickly and received excellent service throughout our meal. Jenna was incredible, funny, and nice. Just about the entire staff has some whimsy about them. Telling us the history of the location and cracking jokes. I can honestly say I would probably drive the four hours to Sanibel just to eat at the Bubble Room again. Not because of the decorations or for the service, (these were great) but because the food left me craving more! The food, the atmosphere, and the overall experience made it well worth the trip. If you're visiting Sanibel and wondering if it's worth the hype, I would absolutely recommend giving it a try. Next time I'm going for dinner for sure!

The restaurant gives off old diner vibes but in a contemporary, open-concept setting. They have some fun photo ops like a motorcycle, red Corvette, and other nostalgic paraphernalia. There was even a life-size rock-n-roll Elvis. We came on a Friday evening, about an hour before closing, and they were swamped. We were seated at the bar for quick service - they had just finished the dinner rush and didn't have any clean tables available. Bar service was excellent and the bartender gave us some great nuggets about Sanibel. There were several sports games playing on the different screens. I did the build-your-own burger and got the classic 6-oz. patty with all the standard toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles), cheddar cheese, and BBQ sauce. I do remember them offering more free toppings back in the day... but I recognize that times and the economy have changed. They do have several other premium toppings available for an upcharge. The burger is served on a brioche bun and they didn't ask about burger temperature. The burger meat itself was nicely cooked and nicely seasoned. Aside from the cookery and seasoning of the burger patty (which they nail), with the ability to customize the toppings, cheese, and sauces, you really have no one to blame but yourself for the flavor of the burger... I don't know about y'all, but mine was delicious ;). They also have some local favorite recommendations, such as the island burger which comes with pineapple and guacamole. I love, love, loveeeee the onion rings at Cheeburger Cheeburger - they are my absolute favorite! I got the double-serving to share with the group, and they were as good as I remembered them to be. The batter is light and crisp - every ring is the perfect bite. Pro tip: Add some onion rings to your burger for a little crunch. (This was actually one of the toppings that they used to offer back in the day... but now it's DIY.) The hand-cut fries are good too, but I'm all about these onion rings. I didn't get a milkshake and now I have FOMO... next time, for sure. Malt versions are also available. Cheeburger Cheeburger, I miss you already. Happy hour is from 3-6pm at the bar (drink and appetizer specials), and they offer a military discount to honor those who have served.
