Undead Gourd And The Cinnamon Crunch Pretzels
    Steve A.

Here is a brewery with an atmosphere like a movie that's supposed to be scary but is actually funny. It has a pretty good selection and often rotates. Mad Hatchet is one of the craft breweries in Shorewood. Good friendly service and knowledgeable. There's no kitchen but there's food trucks. A lot of haunted themes for the beer. It makes a good trip for around Halloween. They happen to have lots of pumpkin beers too. A good one is the Undead Gourd. It's $8 for a pint. The prices of a few beers are kind of high but that's the only bad thing. If you're looking for munchies they have pretzels. These are $3.50 and come in a few flavors, so try some of these. One is the Cinnamon Crunch. Sweet but not extremely so. Bunch of beers on tap and that's incredible for being a small place out of the way a bit. It doesn't have any food made on site but there's pretzels. There's also food trucks on weekends.

Mad Hachet- Hornswaggler beer. Milkstout with PB & choc cake donuts from Donut Den of Joliet. Color me happy!

Still 5 stars. Noah helped me and did a great job. Had a couple of beers while I was waiting for the food truck ( Happy Lobster) to make my lobster rolls. Excellent service. Food great, beer great. Plenty of options regarding beer to choose from. Still five stars. Best micro brewery in the area!

Fun little brewery tucked away in the back of a strip mall in Shorewood Il. The beers are tasty and accurate to their menu descriptions. Not at all expensive. Fun horror decor and wonderfully clean restrooms. Can't wait to go back when things are more open and they can have special events again.

Food trucks or you can order food for delivery.

Review #2 updated since it's after covid and things changed. They now have food trucks and live music. They change their beers around so it is nice to try something different. Love that they have flights or smaller sizes to try a beer before committing to a full glass.

    I tried 5, 7, 9, and 10. 7 was the only one that I didn't care for.

I love a brewery with a good theme and this location definitely was one of them! From the names of their beer, to the decorations, to even the bathroom. I liked that I was able to get a flight to try a few. Both staff working behind the bar were super friendly. The day of my visit was pretty crowded outside, but the inside had plenty of open tables. Crowlers available to go.

I loved the crafted beer options! The ambiance was very chill and laid back. The service was top notch.

Mad Hatchet is the perfect microbrew. Awesome ambiance, incredible beers and sours, and new brews offered almost every time I visit.

Woof. These beers are awful. The service is garbage. This place will never take off. This is a typical bad suburbanite place.

It pretty much only has beers, but it also has a distillery next to it where you can get that stuff too. Has more of these than expected. There's some pretty cool flavors. Breweries like this are known for their limited hours and selections, but here neither is the case. It's actually got quite a bit to choose from. There's a few pretty interesting and unique flavors, too. A lot of these rotate so it makes people come back. It's about $7 a pint. We had a few of these. Best we had was the Mist Walker, a hazy IPA. This is a pretty strong one. Has a window into Home Run Hot Dogs. It's got a few including veggie dogs that are made Chicago style. Also is known for their stuffed pretzels. They let you bring in stuff. Great place to get locally made beers. It's actually open daily if you can even believe it. They're open longer on weekends.

As they had many options I wanted try, I opted for flights. They offer 4 5oz pours for $10. My faves were foxy sour beer nerdz and the case eagle. The Carmel apple was a miss for me. They also offer tequila seltzers and sodas. Friendly service and plenty of seating.

DOPPELBOCK 'N ROLL…read more This suburban brewery taps a solid, headbanging beer. I've always felt that a cold draft hits differently than a can or bottle. When the mood strikes me, I'll venture over to Garage Band Brewing on Des Plaines St in downtown Plainfield, next door to Station One Smokehouse (with whom they share a symbiotic relationship). Their brews have hard rock-inspired names, like 'Stout It Out Loud' (a play on the KISS song), 'Hop Shaped Box' (Alice in Chains), and 'Hybrid Th30ry' (a 30 IBU pale ale with a nod to Linkin Park). Last time here, I got 12oz of the 'Don't Harsh My Mellow' for $6. I dig the packaging wrap on their 16oz cans of Dizzy Up the Blonde; a Marilyn Monroe-esque lady sitting on a 55gal drum, suggestively tugging on her red high heel with one hand and holding a chalice of beer in the other. What's not to like there? They have a trio of pinball tables that get sporadically rotated out. Previously they had Foo Fighters and Star Wars, now they've got Stranger Things, JAWS, and a gorgeous Godzilla premium model at $1 per play. There's a digital jukebox too, if you wanna pick tunes for the venue. * TL;DR * I lack the time and expertise to brew my own beer, so I'm happy to leave it to the pros. Garage Band is a small operation with big dreams, and they already have a handful of solid brews in circulation. I check back every few months to see their new seasonal drafts, like a shandy in the summer and darker Oktoberfest-style beer in the fall. They're closed Mon-Tues. Beer and pinball are significant passions of mine, and since Garage Band has a nice selection of both, they get an easy 5*.
