Took a 2016 Mini Cooper here to get an exhaust done. The entire staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They didn't try to upsell me as a matter of fact gave me a better deal than I ever expected. I have taken many cars to many places for exhaust work to be done and by far this was the best work I've seen. Clean welds, tight work and perfect realignment of the tips. BEWARE - I took my truck here to have the front brakes done late 2017 and was charged over $300 for brakes and new rotors. Then about a year later, I took my truck to another mechanic to have everything checked, and guess what? I was told that my front brakes needed to be replaced, and the rotors needed to be resurfaced. I have the receipts from both jobs to prove that it was in fact the FRONT brakes that were done by both mechanics, so my memory is fine. Shame on me for not knowing my stuff and being able to tell that the work was actually done or not. BOTTOM LINE - I was charged over $300 and NO work was done. They simply pocketed the money and told me everything was good to go. I'd run away from this place screaming if I were you. Try Duncan Automotive in Oldsmar - only honest mechanic I've found so far, who not only DOES the work, but does it right and at a fair price. Only reason I tried Mad Hatter was because I was hoping to find someone closer to home. My mistake. I'll stick with Duncan. Can't wait for the BS response to this review.. read more

Heidi the receptionist is a doll. The place fixed my issues while others did not. Spoke twice to Victor the owner who seemed like a doll. They are one of the only businesses that fixed code issues as well as everything else. I assume the costs was average. I'll admit... I brought my nicer car in for an old change just to "scope the place out!" I came in on my lunch break thinking that I would have to leave the car for the afternoon. I handed over my keys and waited. I was the only one that was waiting for the car, so I thought that there may be a chance that I could actually make it back to work on time with minutes to spare. I was mistaken for the good as twenty minutes later, Doug said, "You're all set!" and I was on my way! The shop is clean, the staff is friendly and I walked out with a coupon for a free oil change when I come back! This shop is a definite recommend... They are rude , no professionalism , no work ethics. Worst customer service . They can not even talk to customers properly. I am very disappointed with this Tampa location. Every time I had to call them to check status and after I called , they came up with answer that they are waiting for new parts where they did not even mention about those parts in previous calls. Something definitely fishy goes in this location. They don't even accept credit cards. I don't think I will ever come to this place again. I think the person who poorly handled my case is Nick who definitely needs lot of help in work ethics , communications and professionalism. I had to get my car fixed and this spot is close to home which is great. I went in for an estimate and received it. Me being the shopper that I am I had to call around to see how much others were charging for the service and to my surprise this was the best deal. I called the store and said I was coming back and asked for them to order the parts. I dropped off my car later in the afternoon and was told that it would be ready the next morning which was fine by me. I walked home and a few hours later received a call saying that it was ready! I was happy to get my car back the same day and realized that the business card provides a 10% off coupon that can be applied to the same day service #winning. I got my car and immediately noticed the difference and the customer service was beyond exceptional. The mechanic offered to pick me up from home to get my car but I decided to get a few steps in but I thought that was very personable. If my car has any issues or needs normal maintenance I will return here for sure. read more

Do not go here they will change prices, try to get you to pay over the quoted price to correct their shoddy work. I was quoted $220 to put in 2 Catalytic Converters in a 2010 Supercharged Range Rover sport. I ordered my genuine parts from the Land Rover dealership once my parts arrived I scheduled the installation for the next day. When I brought the vehicle in the shop owner offered to source the parts. I told him I've already purchased the parts from the dealership. He responded "that is fine" and they began to get started. I waited the estimated 2hr for work to be completed. I stepped out to get get lunch and I received a call from them saying they were having trouble fitting the catalytic converter's to the manifold pipes. They said the fittings were not the same. I contacted the Land Rover dealership who confirmed the part numbers. They then told me they can take the system back down to correct the spacing and re-fit the catalytic converters for an additional $200 or they can cut the inlet off of the old catalytic converter and attach it to the new catalytic converter because they felt that would make it fit. Dealership advised against this saying altering a part would void the warranty. I asked them to put the vehicle back together that it's probably best I go to another shop. 5 min late I got my truck back went to leave and it stalled out multiple times. I pulled over and viewed the catalytic converters fittings, both were left completely loose with a 1 in gap. The check engine light, restricted performance light, and low battery light are now on and the truck barely runs. When I returned they kicked me out and refused service after telling me I bought "eBay parts" They also refused to refund payment although they never completed the job properly. I had the vehicle towed to another repair facility immediately. I would stay far away from here if you value your vehicle. read more

OMG the engine in my Cadillac sucked up water into the third piston in one of the storms prior to the hurricane. I was convinced it was an electrical issue. They placed a simple camera in the cylinder and performed a compression check. Sean took his time and made a few calls locating some used engine options. I chose one and it was installed very quickly. Soon after the install a crank seal blew and I approached Sean the owner and he said bring it in as we warranted all our work. This was an amazing response considering it was a used engine and no reflection of an error on their part. The solution is that I was charged for the part only and they took care of me!!!!! AAA came and was not comfortable jump starting as battery was very corroded and they didn't want to risk breaking connections. Recommended I tow it to a mechanic. Came to Madhatters a couple months ago to get a muffler delete, walked in no appointment, was done within less than an hour, and Doug the manager was great. He didn't upsell me, and actually gave me advice that would save me money. It was worthy of a five star. Im back for a simple resonator delete, first day I came Madhatters was busy, and I understood with no appointment, I had no right to be frustrated with anyone but myself. Doug told me to come Wednesday at noon and he should be able to squeeze me in. I swing by on time, and again, they told me they were too busy. I understood, again, no appointment, but I was starting to get angered. He set me up an appointment for 3 days from then at noon. I showed up 15 minutes early, and was told they sent the muffler guy on break. Frustrated I waited 45 minutes for him to return. Eventually they took my keys and said my car was next. I waited until 2:15pm, furious, I asked what was taking so long. He said he had a Fedex truck in front of me. I reminded him that I had an appointment more than 2 hours earlier. "Well you were late so thats why its taking longer." I replied that I was 15 minutes early, and Doug oddly agreed with me, "...right, it was noon." Job got done, nothing special. I can't stand dealing with most car mechanics. A lot of them are shady and will attempt to nickel and dime you to death...and well, you know the rest. I'm glad to say that I didn't encounter any of that at Mad Hatter off of Linebaugh. Nate was upfront and honest, not pushy at all. I was still hesitant to go through with the service (AC repair) because I figured they were going to charge me a crapload. Nope, not the case here. Service was efficient and reasonably priced. Edwin was one of the mechanics working on my car. He told me exactly what the issue was with my AC and got it fixed in about an hour. I payed $400 less than what I was quoted at Napa off of Florida and Bougainvillea (because they said I needed a new compressor, but really didn't). Thank you Nate. Thank you Edwin. So today I called because I needed an oil change, alignment, and tire rotation(I'm trying to use a Groupon deal). Before I even tell the guy that I have a Groupon deal, he tells me I can't use it because my car only takes full Synthetic blend and that this is coming from the dealership. I have gotten conventional and semi synthetic oil changes at the dealership multiple times. Clearly Mad Hatter automotive does not know what the process is when it comes to getting an oil change at the dealership. If you can't afford to offer Groupon deals, just don't offer it at all and don't be rude to potential customers. I suggest you call the dealership and double check to see if they actually do conventional oil changes on Nissan Altima's before giving your potential customers false information read more

Had to have my transmission repaired and took it to Mad Hatter, a place I go by everyday on my way to and from work and thought Ive heard of these guys before and hoped they were good. Man was I wrong Had the repair the trans and something went wrong with it and had to take it back again just before the warranty ran out, thank god! because the trans went yet AGAIN! Yes again now this is the 3rd time Now I'm really upset but held back as much as I could especially when it was going to be 2 more weeks due to back order IKES!! and asked if they had a car I could borrow due to the length of time it was going to take to get my vehicle back, and NO was the answer. Now I just spent alot of money and time with all this not to mention my wife's schedule for work, and yes now she very mad, Thanks guys. I also asked to have the oil changed, which is something I usually due myself and wished I did this time too because when I did get the truck back the engine's rear seal is leaking now! Also in the midst of all this the mechanic that was working on my truck left and they had to find a replacement. Great! So I get my truck back and seems to be working well as some issues but nothing i cant live with. then this metallic rubbing sounds starts and cant tell where its coming from and either can anyone else, and as time passes it gets louder and well the transmission goes out again...... Just got off the phone with the shop doing the work and hes telling me that the exhaust and trans bolts are missing or broken off, the shifter linkage was rigged to stay on and work and so on and son on..... My next call is to my lawyer to see if I have a case! read more

After I posted my review, the owner of Mad Hatter contacted me with genuine concern about my service. I explained the entire situation to him and he asked if I would allow him to make it right! I agreed, and they made it right. I had already bought a new water pump and was going to install it myself. He asked if I would allow him to install the part I purchased, as long as it was a quality part. Now, don't think if you complain that you are going to get something for free.......because I did not get anything for free. But, I was not asking for a free handout. They installed my water pump for an agreed upon price. I am now completely satisfied with my visit and will definitely return in the future. Please learn from my experience, if you are not completely satisfied asked to talk to the owner before leaving. They are a family owned business that relies on their reputation. read more

Used to get reliable service here but my last experience was less than good. Went there because my van was dangerously pulling to the left. The service writer told me I needed front brakes and rotors. After completion of the brake service, the service writer told me the problem I went in for didn't get fixed but I needed rear brakes. Indeed my original reason for going there didn't get done. Took the van to another shop only to discover it wasn't the front brake pad and roters causing my van to pull to the left. Turned out that I had no brakes on the right front at all because there was no fluid getting to the brake. That was the source of the problem that I went there for. Someone at Mad Hatter should have caught that. After complaining to Mad Hatter of the finding, their response was that since I had gotten good service there before, my complaint wasn't justified.
