    AAA won't refund a canceled membership!…read more I called AAA to cancel the Associate and Plus membership since I'd purchased a new auto which came with 2-years of roadside assistance. AAA is happy to cancel the remaining 11 months of the membership but REFUSES to refund any portion of the 11-month fee because it had to be canceled within "days of the renewal". Well. Sorry, guess I didn't remember reading that 44 years ago when I signed up. What a ridiculous way to skim money from long- standing accounts.

    I have been an AAA customer since 1999, in CA, NE and now in TX. I am not going to renew. I…read moresuggest that you not join AAA. I have learned form other people that, in Texas, you have to wait at least two hours for a tow truck no matter what time of day or the weather. They are always really busy, which means bad planning or cutting overhead, at the customer's expense. Plus the driver seems to always want a trip. Also, last winter, when we lived in Omaha, I bought a battery from AAA there, when my Ford F-150 battery failed. They tested the old battery and sold me a new one. On November 23, 2019, here in Texas, that battery failed. So I called for a new one and after a half dozen frustrating calls and a significant wait, a truck came with no battery. They don't sell batteries where we live. The driver tested the AAA battery, and confirmed that it was dead. He wrote on the receipt that it was a AAA battery. He told me to go to O'Reillys to get a replacement and to tell them that he sent me. That is what I did. He gave me a form to turn into AAA for reimbursement. He also asked for a tip, since he wasn't going to get paid for my call because it was less than 7 miles from his shop. I got the new battery, sent in the form with the purchase receipt as instructed. I patiently waited a month and having heard nothing, I started the phone calls. As of today, 2.12.20 I have been on the phone at least a half dozen times with 5-6 people at AAA. I have spent hours trying to get them to do their job. It is matter of principle, because the hassle isn't worth $125. First, they said they lost my reimbursement form. Then, a week or so later, they said that they found it. Just now lady named Debora, who has a Michigan prefix, and who refused to give me her ID #, told me that I had to prove that I bought a battery from AAA, in NE in order to get reimbursed. She argued and argued and argued. They never before even mentioned that I needed to send them a receipt for an AAA battery that I bought in Omaha 15 months ago. They wanted proof of the replacement. The form I got from the driver mentioned that it was an AAA battery, anyway. Since the battery replacement, I sold the truck, and gave the buyer my truck's files, I don't have any receipts now. I had NO IDEA that AAA would jerk me around over this battery. The employee, Debora (who would not give me a last name, or an initial or an employee ID) said I should go to my bank rerecords and dig out the purchase proof. suggested that, first, it might not be obvious who the battery seller was from a bank record. Second, I suggested that after patiently waiting 6 weeks, and being jerked around (despite being a 20 year customer) they might just want to treat me with some respect. She argued and argued and argued. I repeatedly asked for the call to be escalated. She said it would take 2-3 or even 5 days. When I asked for escalation before they said it would take 16 days! Maybe they will call me and maybe it won't. But nothing will fix their horrible customer service and poor attitude. They sell insurance. If they jerk around a 22 yer customer over a crappy $125 battery, what will they do if you have a $50,000 auto claim? Just stay away from AAA. They don't care about you, or me or anything but dollars. They are utterly without redemption.
